This Lady Ain’t Isht: Wealthy Widown Sued For $250M In Estate Battle Gave Up ANOTHER Child Adopted From China

Remember the ain’t isht broad who “gave back” a child she adopted from China??? Well aparently, that wasn’t the only time this happened… According to NY Daily News: A wealthy widow who gave up her Chinese daughter for readoption after eight years — then tried to cut the girl out of her husband’s $250 million estate — had years earlier dumped another baby she adopted from China, the Daily News has learned. Christine Svenningsen, 55, adopted a baby boy from China after her husband died in May 1997, then changed her mind after she brought the child she named Eric home to Westchester County, court papers reveal. Svenningsen already had five biological children, plus the first child she’d adopted from China, Emily. “Now after your adoption of Emily, did you go to China to adopt a boy named Eric?” Stephen Hochhauser, the lawyer for Emily’s new parents, asked Svenningsen in a 2009 deposition. “Yes,” Svenningsen answered. “What happened with Eric?” Hochhauser asked. “What did you do with him?” “He was adopted,” Svenningsen said, by “a person in New Jersey.” Court papers did not disclose when Eric was adopted or readopted. “And what was the reason for terminating (your) adoption?” Hochhauser asked. “I couldn’t handle seven children,” Svenningsen answered. Svenningsen — known for amassing a small kingdom of island estates in Long Island Sound, which she once described as “like little pieces of art” and renovates as a hobby, only to leave many sitting empty — decided she couldn’t handle six children, either. She gave Emily up in late 2004, when the little girl was 8. She then fought to exclude the girl from her party-supply magnate husband’s $250 million estate — a bid that was shot down last month by a state appeals court. Standing in the doorway of their Colonial-style farmhouse in a rural section of Connecticut, Emily’s new mom, Maryann Campbell, told The News, “We’re not going to be making any comment,” calling their court battle a “debacle.” The mother-daughter duo had just arrived home, a bespectacled Emily riding in the front seat of the family’s Mercedes-Benz. “Things will pass,” Campbell said as Emily rushed into the house. “We’re all fine.” In fact, court filings show Emily is much better off in her new home — where she’s able to sit at the same dinner table with the rest of her family, unlike when she lived with the Svenningsens. Svenningsen declined repeated requests for comment. Through an intercom at the family’s wooded Westchester estate, a woman said, “I can’t talk about anything.” In an affidavit, Svenningsen acknowledged that adopting Emily might have been a mistake. She said she and her husband, John — who was 27 years older than her — had decided to adopt a child from China because they had visited orphanages there and wanted to help. After they started the process, John was diagnosed with the lymphoma that would take his life. “Maybe I should not have gone to China. Everyone advised me not to continue with the adoption, but I just wanted things to go on as planned. My world was falling apart. My husband had cancer. Somehow I thought if I stuck to the plan, everything would be okay,” she said. Campbell’s filings say Svenningsen turned a cold shoulder to the girl even after she’d been readopted. Campbell said she had a “chance encounter” with Emily’s former mom, and told her Emily would love to see her and her former siblings because she missed them. Svenningsen said no. SMH at this lady for real…seriously though, why adopt children when you know you can’t handle them??? What a “c-word” (rhymes with runt)

REVIEW: Rooney Mara Will Hold You Shrink-Rapt In Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Side Effects’

What begins as a barbed satire of our pill-popping, self-medicating society morphs into something intriguingly different in Side Effects . Steven Soderbergh’s elegantly coiled puzzler spins a tale of clinical depression and psychiatric malpractice into an absorbing, cunningly unpredictable entertainment that, like much of his recent work, closely observes how a particular subset of American society operates in a needy, greedy, paranoid and duplicitous age. Discriminating arthouse audiences not turned off by the antidepressant-heavy subject matter should be held shrink-rapt by what Soderbergh, after years of flirting with retirement, has said will be his last picture “for a long time.” Establishing a mood of grim foreboding with a brief glimpse of a blood-spattered domestic scene, the film rewinds three months to the incident that sets things in motion. Emily Taylor ( Rooney Mara ), a New Yorker in her mid-20s, awaits the prison release of her husband, Martin ( Channing Tatum ), a former business exec who has just finished serving four years for his involvement in an insider-trading scheme. But the couple’s happy reunion is complicated not only by Martin’s period of readjustment and unemployment, but also by Emily’s ongoing struggles with anxiety and depression. The story is thus immediately rooted in an easily recognizable and, for some, relatable world of financial difficulty and pharmaceutical overreliance. After Emily’s condition declines to the point of attempting self-harm, she sees a psychiatrist, Dr. Jonathan Banks ( Jude Law) , who puts her on a try-this-try-that regimen of drugs that include Prozac, Zoloft and Ablixa. The names of these antidepressants and their assorted side effects are rattled off with cheeky proficiency in the well-researched script by Scott Z. Burns (“Contagion,” “The Informant!”), and soon Emily starts to manifest the byproducts of so much medication, including nausea, a heightened libido and a disturbing habit of sleepwalking. Soderbergh’s sinuous HD camerawork (done under his usual pseudonym, Peter Andrews) maintains an unnervingly intimate focus on Emily in these early passages, dominated by breakdowns and consulting sessions. Yet even in intense closeups that enable Mara to vividly register Emily’s panic, fear and vaguely suicidal impulses, the direction has a certain cool-toned detachment that keeps the film from becoming a wholly subjective portrait of mental instability. That distanced quality persists even when Emily’s behavior, under the influence of Ablixa, takes a shocking turn for the worst. At this point, the dramatic perspective shifts to Banks, who suddenly finds himself professionally compromised as a provocative question comes to the fore: If a patient is not responsible for actions taken under the influence of a powerful drug, does the liability shift to the doctor who prescribed it? But as Banks launches himself into an increasingly obsessive quest to clear his name, leading him into private conversations with Emily’s former therapist, Dr. Victoria Siebel ( Catherine Zeta-Jones ), the peculiar feeling persists that not everything about the case may be what it seems. The very title of Side Effects — a suggestion of unintended, undesired consequences that distract from the matter at hand — provides a clue as to the level of narrative misdirection Soderbergh and Burns are up to. Suffice to say that what the film is actually about, and the specific social malaise being diagnosed, suddenly seem to shift beneath the characters’ feet, as the story turns its attention from chemical dependencies and shaky medical ethics to the dark recesses of the human mind. The rapid-fire twists, reversals and flashbacks that crowd the third act may strain plausibility to the breaking point, but by the end, viewers are likely to feel as though they’ve been craftily but not unfairly manipulated. The casting of Soderbergh alums Law, Zeta-Jones and Tatum lends the picture a somewhat valedictory feel, and if Side Effects is indeed the final chapter of at least one phase of the director’s career, it gets the job done in modest but assured fashion. Thematically, this efficient genre piece feels entirely of a piece with Soderbergh’s prior work; no less than Magic Mike and The Girlfriend Experience , it’s keenly invested in the material question of how individuals operate in an economy that leaves them with fewer and fewer honest options. The film’s careful attention to the details of its psychiatric milieu compels fascination above and beyond the characters, and indeed, Soderbergh’s typical disinterest in conventional audience identification has rarely been more pronounced. Mara’s chilly yet vulnerable quality, exploited so effectively in her films with David Fincher, keeps the viewer at a sympathetic distance; Law makes Banks seem weaselly and pompous even when he assumes the role of protagonist; and Zeta-Jones, as usual, plays her part with a slyly seductive allure. Of all the actors, Ann Dowd ( Compliance ) rings the sole notes of earnest emotion in a small role as Emily’s mother-in-law. Editing is sharp and precise, and Thomas Newman’s churning score amps up the story’s intensity. Expertly chosen locations and Howard Cummings’ production design create an offhandedly diverse snapshot of New York, ranging from a high-security mental institution to a table at Le Cirque where Dr. Banks and his colleagues talk shop. Everything started the day I bought my tickets. I didn’t know…

Everything started the day I bought my tickets. I didn’t know they were going on sale that day at 12, but someone tweeted it and I called my dad. It was at 10 so I had 2 hours left. At 11, I read everyone’s tweets saying that they had gotten their tickets and I was so confused but then I remembered about the time zone difference. I ended up getting tickets, I didn’t get front row, but at least I had them. 7 months later, one day before the concert, I traveled 4 hours from Mexico to San Antonio, TX. When we arrived at the venue, we stopped off near the tour buses. My friend told me Kenny’s tweet mentioned the exact place they would be. Turns out it was a bar but we ended up getting in. It was 6 pm, and they kicked us out at 9pm but the Bieber crew weren’t they yet. Then we realized in front of this bar was a hotel. At around 10 pm, we were just parking the truck when I saw Kenny, Dan, and the dancers crossing the street. As I could, I jumped out of the car and ran to them. I said to Kenny ”I LOVE YOU!” He just look at me and made the peace sign with his hand. When I got to the bar Dan was the only one who was still outside. We took pictures, I hugged him, and asked him were Justin was. He told us he was in Vegas for Lil Twist birthday. Then he went inside. I regret myself not asking for meet and greets, then I looked back at the bar door and saw him outside. I crossed the street and told him that I didn’t mean to bother him again but that if he could help my dream come true. I told him my story and finally he accepted. He typed my name in his phone and told me to be at the box office at 4pm! I hugged him, and when we were leaving I started singing “The Dan Kanter Song.” Of course I was in shock, I couldn’t believe it. The day was the concert and I got to the arena at 12. When I went to pick up my M&G’s the lady told me there wasn’t anything under my name. I kept going back to check and they weren’t believing me! Finally I got my envelope and there was my passes inside. While I was in the line, I  saw Dan Kanter. I asked if he remembered me from last night, he said yes! He actually had some cousins  with him so he was standing with them.  We waited for 90 minutes in the line, which is where I also met Kenny again. Suddenly we saw girls crying and shaking, the line was moving fast. I was very nervous. The ones in front of us got in, I could see his hair, it was golden. Then was our turn. I ran fast to be next to him, he wrapped his arm around me, and so I did. Then the photographer counted 1, 2, 3 and he snapped the picture. That was the fastest meeting in my whole life . I couldn’t believe he was even real, he looked so perfect. Like a doll. Then we ran outside the building crying and screaming. My mom gave me my tickets and we got inside. The concert was amazing and it was the most perfect night ever. Thank you so much Dan and Justin. -@alesoriag Read the original here: Everything started the day I bought my tickets. I didn’t know…

Emily Maynard to Star as The Bachelorette AGAIN?

Is ABC eyeing a possible return engagement (pun intended) for Emily Maynard on The Bachelorette? Maybe the third time’s the charm for the Southern Belle … According to reports, producers want her to come back next season, just days after she confirmed her breakup with Jef Holm , her final rose recipient this year. Who knows if this is legit or whether she’d have any interest, but that’s the rumor. “Emily’s ratings were huge and the producers know she is incredibly popular so they are talking with her about coming back for another try ,” a source teases. “ABC loves Emily, there are tons of Emily fans and the producers think it’d be an amazing twist that would really get people watching, even if it is haters.” “Even though she has been burned twice, they know it will be ratings gold and they know that she really likes being on TV and actually has fun on the show.” Emily Maynard got engaged to Brad Womack on The Bachelor , but that relationship fizzled fast; things with Jef fell apart almost as quickly and she is single once again. One of the men she rejected this summer, Sean Lowe , will dole out the roses as The Bachelor in January. Will Emily follow with her second Bachelorette stint in May? What do you think: Should Emily be The Bachelorette again?   Yes! That’d be a great twist! Love Emily! NO way! Get someone else PLEASE! View Poll »

Emily Maynard: Miserable, "Dying" in Jef Holm Relationship, Sources Claim

Emily Maynard said her breakup with Jef Holm was “difficult and heartbreaking” in a statement this week. Sources close to The Bachelorette star say it was anything but. “Emily just decided she’d had enough,” a source said, adding that she “was extremely miserable, and at her breaking point” toward the end of the relationship. “She was like ‘I’m dying here, I’m dying here’ … just over it. Enough was enough.” While Bachelorette relationships rarely work out, fans had high hopes for these two, given the apparent depth of their connection. So what went wrong, and so fast? Emily had obvious chemistry with her other two finalists – including current Bachelor -in-waiting Sean Lowe – but opted for Jef with the bigger picture in mind. Yet, a source close to Jef, who Emily Maynard chose over Lowe and Arie Luyendyk Jr. , said his desire to be a father figure to her daughter Ricki deflated over time. “He has no real connection to Ricki … he doesn’t feel close to her,” the source said, adding Jef thought Emily was an absentee parent, often calling her a “bad mom.” In addition, Emily receiving filthy texts from NFL backup Matt Leinart further eroded their love, as did her behavior at an August 4 wedding for a Bachelor staff member. “She was being very flirty,” a guest said, and Jef was “brooding.” An insider said Emily Maynard ‘s “goody-goody Southern Belle” demeanor is just for the cameras: “She flirts with other guys to help her ego. She gets off on it.” Emily, meanwhile, felt Jef wasn’t mature enough to handle a relationship. Whatever their reasons, Emily and Jef split up earlier this month, then gradually laid the foundation for the public announcement of the breakup and confirmed it Tuesday.

Emily Maynard, Jef Holm Start Hinting at Obvious Breakup

Emily Maynard and Jef Holm broke up last week. They have yet to confirm this officially, but all indications are that they have gone their separate ways. Recent activity by The Bachelorette couple certainly corroborates this sad truth: They have not written to each other or posted anything about each other since. Holm deleted his Twitter profile pic of himself and Emily. Now it’s a solo shot. Emily changed her pic to one of herself and daughter Ricki, instead of Jef. Lest you think we’re making something out of nothing, it continues: He’s also changed his Instagram photo from himself and Emily Maynard to one of himself and a friend at his organization, People Water. Emily recently posted a photo of the quote, “She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.” Jef wrote “Can’t wait to hang with my mom & sisters in AZ for the next few days. Excited to have another niece! #lovebabies.”  He retweeted the following quote: “#God has a way to heal your sorrow. God has a way to touch your tomorrow. Trust him.” Even People magazine, to which the pair denied previous breakup rumors, ran an article about how they MIGHT be broken up. It’s as good as confirmed. Sad, but we’d be astonished if they were still together (or got back together) at this point. It’s only a matter of time before the official breakup statement comes out. In happier news, Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum are getting married in December.

Emily Maynard and Jef Holm: It’s OVER!

Emily Maynard and Jef Holm called off their engagement and broke up over the weekend, according to a reliable source who seems to never be wrong. Reality Steve claims that while no official announcement of their engagement ending has been reported, he knows for certain that the couple is done . Steve posted the following about Emily Maynard and Jef Holm: “I don’t care if you say I’m crazy … until Jef and Emily [confirm it], I guess that’s when you’ll believe it, but I can tell you right now that Jef and Emily broke up this weekend.” “Done. Over. No longer engaged.” The reality TV blogger with unnamed and unmatched contacts within the show’s universe went on to say that Emily and Jef will continue to put on a facade. That means denials, public appearances, Twitter pics, etc. You name it. “Right now, they are in the process of figuring out how they will present the breakup to the media, when they’re gonna release the statement, and [to whom],” he writes. “I have no idea [when]. They have a few things that obviously need to be sorted out and they’re gonna need to figure out what the reasoning is they want to give the media.” “It just happened a couple days ago. This isn’t a rumor,” he reiterates. “I didn’t hear this 5th hand, and I’m not making it up for attention. All I’m here to tell you is that Jef and Emily are no longer an engaged couple and have broken up. Breakup rumors have dogged the couple since they got engaged on The Bachelorette season finale this July, but they have put on a united front each time. When Emily Maynard was accused of sexting another man while on vacation, Jef Holm vehemently denied it, even with his own brother going on record. If it’s over, which it looks like it is, a lot of people were wrong in our poll: Emily and Jef: Will it last?   Yes! Jef’s the one! Emily made a great choice! No. She should’ve picked Arie. Or Sean.
