Eminem, Lil Wayne Toss Salvos On Anguished ‘No Love’

The Just Blaze-produced duet samples unlikely dance track ‘What Is Love?’. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem’s Recovery Photo: Interscope Eminem and Lil Wayne toss lyrical salvos on their Recovery collaboration, “No Love,” which arrived online Tuesday (June 8), leaked to the web with the rest of Em’s album. Just Blaze produced the angst-ridden number, which, somewhat surprisingly, samples the Haddaway dance track “What Is Love?” better known as the theme for the Saturday Night Live “Roxbury Guys” sketches than for its rap cred. On the menacing track, though, Wayne and Em swap tough-guy rhymes. “They call me a freak because I like to spit on these p—–s before I eat them,” Em raps on the second verse. “Get these wack co——ers offstage/ Where’s Kanye when you need him?” Later on the track, Em croons in a sing-song flow on the chorus: “It’s a little too late to say that you’re sorry now/ You kicked me when I was down/ But what you say … don’t hurt me.” The track marks the first time the two have specifically traded rhymes as a pair on one track. On Drake’s “Forever,” the two guest MCs were joined by Kanye West. And although Em and Wayne appeared together on “Drop the World,” off the Young Money star’s rock-leaning effort, Rebirth, Wayne wasn’t rapping as much as singing (aided by Auto-Tune). While traveling overseas recently, Eminem had high praise for his collaborator. The duo have long admired each other, and Wayne campaigned for years to join the Detroit MC on a track. “I’ve always respected what Wayne does, and Wayne, to me, is definitely one of the greatest in the game right now,” Em said. Eminem’s Recovery Leaked Online; Features Rihanna, Pink, Lil Wayne & More

Leaked tracks from Eminem’s Recovery album continue to surface online, despite its official release date still being two weeks away. That sucks for Eminem. Or does it? Conventional wisdom suggests leaks hinder sales, but Em’s new songs and collaborations with Rihanna, Lil Wayne and others are drawing raves. Gaining probably the most online traction of the leaked tracks – a bunch of which are still up as of right now – is “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna. Seeing as the song chronicles a destructive, abusive and violent relationship (cough, Chris Brown ), it’s tailor-made for tabloid fodder as well as a solid track. Listen to the leaked Recovery track and vote on it below … Eminem feat. Rihanna: Love the Way You Lie In between Eminem’s verses Rihanna brings it in the chorus: “Just gonna stand there and watch me burn / That’s alright ’cause I like the way it hurts / Just gonna stand there and hear me cry / That’s alright ’cause I like the way you lie.” What do you think of “Love the Way You Lie”? Follow the jump for two more tracks: Eminem and Lil Wayne sampling Haddaway (no joke) on “No Love,” and Pink teaming with him on “Won’t Back Down” … Eminem feat. Lil Wayne: No Love Eminem feat. Eminem’s ‘Not Afraid’ Video Premieres

Slim Shady soars through Newark like a superhero in heavily symbolic new clip. By Shaheem Reid Eminem in “Not Afraid” Photo: Interscope Eminem’s video for “Not Afraid,” the first offering from his June 22 release Recovery, has premiered. Directed by Richard Lee, the video starts with Eminem standing on a rooftop ledge that overlooks New Jersey. As he says with his opening lines, the clip shifts to a basement, where Slim Shady is rhyming on the steps, then standing. The video goes back to the rooftop, where Em goes closer to edge. The shot could be taken as a metaphor for his life. Last year, the Grammy Award winner very openly told his story of being in a drug-induced haze for years. He said his addiction was so horrific, he almost overdosed and died. Just like in real life, Em stops short of going off the ledge in the video. Instead, he marches on busy Market Street in downtown Newark. As he’s walking through traffic, he looks in a car window and his face looks distorted. He suddenly seems to be to walking in a hall of mirrors, where he’s forced to take a very close look at himself. Marshall Mathers eventually jumps through one of the mirrors and lands back on Market Street. This time however, instead of being filled with pedestrians, the usually crowded shopping district is empty. (This scene is intercut with one of him back in the basement, breaking through the bricks with his bare fists to reveal a blinding light outside.) Em then walks alone to the end of the block and stops. There is no more street to walk. Civilization has been totally decimated, and everything beyond the block is in ruins. He jumps off the cliff and falls peacefully, but he never hits the bottom. He starts flying out of the abyss and back into the city, which is now filled with people once again. Shady flies so fast down the streets, he breaks car windows when he speeds by. Ultimately, he lands on the same ledge on which he started the video. Justin Bieber Fever Takes Over ‘Today’ Show

Al Roker even gets a policeman to admit he’s got the fever. By Eileen Reslen Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images If a lot of young girls were absent from school on Friday morning (June 4), the cause could well be an outbreak of Bieber fever. Justin Bieber visited the “Today” on Friday morning for a free concert outside NBC studios in New York’s Rockefeller Plaza, where the teen sensation played a mini-concert featuring five of his most popular songs. The epidemic wasn’t confined to kids: As the show’s Al Roker pointed out, it wasn’t even above the law. “One question,” Roker asked a policeman. “Sergeant, do you have Bieber fever?” “Yes,” the officer answered with a smirk. “It’s official: The NYPD has Bieber fever,” Roker said. An army of Bieber fans from all over the country filled up the plaza with high-pitched voices and brightly-colored posters. “This may be the biggest crowd we’ve had for days, the show’s Matt Lauer said, to which Meredith Vierra replied, “It reminds me of Paul — Paul McCartney. So, I get it.” The broadcast was taken over by Bieber fever, with almost every segment, from the weather to interviews with celebrities, being “Bieberized.” Roker’s forecast could barely be heard above the fans’ screams, and his signature sign-off was tweaked to say, “Here’s what’s happening in your neck of the Bieberwoods!” “Get Him to the Greek” star Jonah Hill was there to promote the film, and his interview was also obscured by the teen screams. “I have Bieber fever all over my body right now,” Hill joked. Bieber rushed down from his pre-performance rehearsal and interrupted the interview to give Hill a fist-pound for his comments. Before his performance, Bieber told Lauer how much his life has changed since becoming famous. “It’s pretty crazy that now I go out and, you know, I’m always asked for autographs and stuff, but that’s kind of what I signed up for,” Bieber said. He added that his career goal is longevity. “I want to, you know, be an artist that doesn’t just come out with one song and you know, then they’re done,” Bieber said. As he performed in the humid morning air, Bieber bounced around with his background dancers through “Baby” and “One Time” and others without missing a beat, with some of his dance moves seemingly inspired by mentor Usher — he chest pumped and moon-walked across the stage. After the performance, Bieber stuck around to sign some autographs, but not before talking about his upcoming tour. “It starts in like a couple of weeks, so I’m really excited,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot of lights and a lot of, like, magic stuff, which is going to be cool.” What did you think of Justin Bieber’s appearance on the “Today” show? Eminem Reveals He’s ‘Rebuilding’ Shady Records

‘There’s a new group we’re looking to sign, Slaughterhouse,’ Em says of hip-hop group. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem Photo: Universal With the release last year of his album Relapse, Eminem announced to the world that he was looking after himself and his music after a five-year hiatus. Now, as he puts the finishing touches on his follow-up, Recovery, the Detroit MC says he plans to focus on his record label, Shady Records. In an interview with BBC’s Radio 1 on Friday (June 4), Eminem was asked about mentoring up-and-coming rappers, and Em admitted he’d been eying a few acts. “We’re kinda trying to start the process of rebuilding our label, Shady Records,” he said. “I’m sure I’ll be looking for younger talent, coming up. There’s a new group we’re looking to sign, Slaughterhouse,” he said referring to the rap supergroup made up of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, and Royce da 5’9″. “But I don’t want to give anything away. We’re looking at a few [artists] now.” Slaughterhouse has been linked to Em for some time, beginning last year when the foursome appeared with Eminem in Drake’s “Forever” video. Their cameo led to speculation that the heralded underground lyricists would soon be connecting with the Slim Shady camp. Royce da 5’9″ spoke to MTV News in September and didn’t deny the rumors. “It’s very much what it looks like,” Royce said of Slaughterhouse joining the Shady roster. “That’s always a possibility. It’s conversations being had, very good conversations. I just did an interview recently and they asked me to address the rumors. I said, ‘Rumors are what they are, people see things and they jump to a conclusion.’ I never said it wasn’t going to happen — I left it right there in the middle. I think it would be a great thing if it could happen.” Earlier this year, Ortiz said negotiations were in the “ninth inning,” but more important, the Brooklyn wordsmith revealed Slaughterhouse and Emimem have already begun collaborating on music while they wait for the ink to dry on the paperwork. “We got in the studio with Em already,” he said. “We traded bars and stuff with all of us.” Which MCs would you like to see Eminem sign to Shady Records? Sway’s ‘2010 Wake Up Show Anthem’ Video Premieres Sunday!

MTV News correspondent and radio partner King Tech release follow-up to Eminem-assisted posse cut on MTV Jams. By MTV News staff Sway in 2010 Wake Up Show Anthem” Photo: MTV News MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway and his “World Famous Wake Up Show” radio partner King Tech will premiere the video for their new “2010 Wake Up Show Anthem” on MTV Jams this Sunday. The track — featuring Cypress Hill’s B-Real, Ras Kass, Tech N9ne, Crooked I, Kam Moye and Bay Area rapper Locksmith — is the follow-up to the duo’s breakout hit, 1999’s “The Anthem,” which featured an array of MCs, including Eminem , Wu-Tang Clan’s the RZA , Xzibit, Pharoahe Monch and Kool G. Rap, among others. The original track became the standout on the longtime radio hosts’ album This or That. “The Anthem” also served as an audio pep rally for Sway and Tech’s historic radio show, which has showcased once-upcoming MCs like Em, Big L and Common. “For the ‘Wake Up Show Anthem,’ it’s just usually people or artists that we respect, who are known spitters that innovated their own styles,” Sway explained of the posse cuts. “Someone like the RZA a.k.a. Bobby Digital, there’s something really distinct about when he came out early in his career as Prince Raheem and then into the Wu-Tang Clan. He’s always had a distinct voice and distinct way that he spit his lyrics. “I think it goes without saying that Eminem is one of the most gifted lyricists to ever touch a mic,” Sway continued. For the updated set, Sway and Tech kept with tradition and selected a lineup of wordsmiths who tangle words together like a tricky knot. “We try to put together MCs that we feel will have a great synergy and represent something that’s important to hip-hop,” Sway said. Is Mariah Carey Pregnant?

Online report cites ‘sources’ as confirming that the couple are expecting. By Jocelyn Vena Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images For months, the rumor mill has been speculating that Mariah Carey is pregnant with her and Nick Cannon’s first child — rumors that went into overdrive when it announced last week that Carey would no longer be starring in Tyler Perry’s latest opus , “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.” On Wednesday (June 2), a “source close to” the couple told RadarOnline.com that the couple are expecting. “They’re both very excited and very happy,” the source reportedly said. “Mariah and Nick want to keep the pregnancy quiet as long as they can.” Reps for Carey and Cannon had not responded to MTV News request for comment at press time. Recently, Cannon hedged that the pair’s dog is pregnant , but many wondered if he was just toying with the media over the speculation. According to an article on UsMagazine.com that was published Wednesday but was apparently no longer on the site at press time, he told fans over the weekend that “the bump is bigger. You can almost see it now!” Radar further reports that Carey never left the couple’s car on Saturday, the day Cannon reportedly spoke to fans, when they were seen going for a drive along the Malibu coastline. However, after she dropped out of the Perry flick, her rep told “She is not doing the movie because her doctor advised her not to. More than that, I cannot comment further.” Earlier this year, Cannon told MTV News that the couple “absolutely plan to have a family. But we gotta prioritize, because that’s a major, major priority. That’s like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family. We wanna make sure everything is out of the way and that we don’t have any distractions.” Do you think Mariah is pregnant? Sound off in the comments below! Related Artists Mariah Carey Nick Cannon

Eminem Talks Lil Wayne, Rihanna And Pink Recovery Collabos

‘Wayne, to me, is definitely one of the greatest in the game right now,’ Em says during French radio interview. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images The elusive Eminem spoke to Skyrock Radio in Paris over the weekend and offered a tiny peek at what he has in store for his upcoming Recovery album . While most of the interview consisted of Em cracking jokes with the French DJs, he did briefly touch on hooking up with the incarcerated Lil Wayne on “No Love,” as well as Pink on “Won’t Back Down” and Rihanna on “Love the Way You Lie.” “I’ve always respected what Wayne does, and Wayne, to me, is definitely one of the greatest in the game right now,” he said of Weezy, who is in the midst of a yearlong prison stretch on gun charges. “As far as the songs with Pink and Rihanna … when I did the song that I did with Pink, I laid my parts first and kind of heard her on the record and felt that she would smash this record. And the other one I did with Rihanna is one of those tracks that I felt like only she could pull it off, only she could do it.” He also dropped the first hints about what the video for lead single “Not Afraid” might look like. Promising that it was coming soon (he mentioned “Saturday” but didn’t go into any other detail), Shady said, “The video is … kind of just … there’s a lot of things in it that are metaphorically speaking. There are things that are symbolic in the video. … The overall concept is basically being in a dark place and trying to get to the light.” Among the topics he touched on were 50 Cent slimming down for his upcoming role in “Things Fall Apart,” in which he plays a cancer-stricken football player. “That’s crazy,” Shady said when talk turned to 50’s shocking weight loss. While trying to find out more French cuss words in order to hit on a comely lady named Marie in the studio, Slim Shady deferred to longtime manager Paul Rosenberg when pressed about why the rapper did not make France one of his three tour stops on his upcoming European swing. The interview ended with Em expressing mystification over why people are so excited about soccer’s upcoming World Cup, a stance that might mean he’ll have some ‘splaining to do when he hits the stages in football-crazy Switzerland and the U.K. in July. “Is it politically incorrect if I said I didn’t like soccer?” he asked. “I’m not a big soccer fan.” Were you surprised by Eminem’s Recovery collaborators?
