Eminem’s Recovery Track List Revealed: Lil Wayne, Rihanna Guest

Pink also appears on album, due June 22. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem’s Recovery Photo: Interscope First, Eminem opened up his circle of producers to include Just Blaze , Jim Jonsin and Mobb Deep’s Havoc on his June 22 album, Recovery. Now, the album’s track list has arrived via RapRadar.com , and it finds Slim Shady collaborating with a cadre of artists he’s never worked with before in his career. Pink, Rihanna and Kobe, a singer who appeared on Fabolous’ last album, highlight the list of guests on Recovery, Em’s follow-up to last year’s Relapse Lil Wayne is the only other guest who appears on the album. The two lyricists collaborated previously on Wayne’s rock-leaning project Rebirth, but they’ve never traded rhymes with each other on the same song; on “Drop the World,” Wayne sings for the most part aided by Auto-Tune, and Eminem delivers a rap verse at the end of the number. The lead single from Recovery, “Not Afraid,” premiered a month ago and quickly established that Eminem was back. The track debuted at #1 on Billboard ‘s Hot 100 chart, making the rapper one of only a handful of artists to achieve the feat. The cover artwork for Recovery debuted earlier this week on the rapper’s website. MTV News’ request to Interscope Records to confirm the track list has not been returned as of press time. Recovery track list, according to RapRadar.com: 1. “Cold Wind Blows” 2. “Talkin’ 2 Myself” (featuring Kobe) 3. “On Fire” 4. “Won’t Back Down” (featuring Pink) 5. “W.T.P.” 6. “Going Through Changes” 7. “Not Afraid” 8. “Seduction” 9. “No Love” (featuring Lil Wayne) 10. “Space Bound” 11. “Cinderella Man” 12. “25 to Life” 13. “So Bad” 14. “Almost Famous” 15. “Love the Way You Lie” (featuring Rihanna) 16. “You’re Never Over” Are you excited to hear Eminem’s new album? Usher, Katy Perry, B.o.B And More: Who Has The Song Of The Summer?

Lady Gaga and 3OH!3 and Ke$ha are also in MTV News’ 2010 summer-jam race — who gets your vote? By Kyle Anderson Photo: Interscope Records With Memorial Day weekend just around the corner, it’s finally time to get summer started properly. But perhaps more important than the baseball games, barbecues, pool parties and beach trips that will pepper the next few warm-weather months is the singular song that will provide the soundtrack to all those events. It’s time to choose the official summer jam of 2010, and we’re leaving it up to you. There isn’t a lot of science that goes into a great summer song, but you certainly know it when you hear it. It has to be catchy, bright, fun and sound great cranked way, way up in a car with the windows rolled down. Think Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (the jam of 2007), Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” (2002), Pras’ “Ghetto Supastar” (1998) or the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” (2009’s entry). For summer 2010, there are five strong nominees that we think are the front-runners for the title. All week, MTV News will be laying out the case for each, and we’ll be throwing the vote to you. At the end of the week, we will have crowned a summer jam that you can play at maximum volume during whatever long-weekend activity you have planned and comfortably call it summertime. Our five nominees are: Lady Gaga ‘s “Alejandro,” B.o.B ‘s “Airplanes” (featuring Eminem and Hayley Williams), 3OH!3 and Ke$ha ‘s “First Kiss,” Usher ‘s “OMG” and Katy Perry ‘s “California Gurls” (featuring Snoop Dogg). Stay tuned to MTV News and the MTV Newsroom blog for much more on these five jams. So pick out your favorite swimsuit, slather on some SPF 30 and get voting, because it’s time for summer jams! Which of our five nominees do you think deserves the title? Sound off in the comments!

Lloyd Banks Talks Up His ‘Beamer, Benz Or Bentley’ Remix Team

Jadakiss, Ludacris, Yo Gotti and The-Dream are all featured on the new version. By Shaheem Reid Lloyd Banks Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage Lloyd Banks ‘ “Beamer, Benz or Bentley,” featuring Juelz Santana, came out of nowhere to be a smash. The song has been such a favorite that artists from Eminem to Joell Ortiz have freestyled on the beat. Banks is grateful for the love from his peers, and last week, he dropped the official remix with a slew of teammates. “Shout-out to everybody who did the record prior to the official remix coming out,” Banks said on Friday from Panama. The remix features Jadakiss, Ludacris, Yo Gotti and The-Dream. “The fans, I think they wanted to hear something new, something fresh,” Banks said. “While I was on tour, the international tour, I kept in communication with all those artists. Shout out to Jada, shout out to Luda, Yo Gotti, The-Dream. I had everybody’s verse except for Dream. That was the last thing that came in. Those were all people I respect and people I would like to work with outside the remix. It ain’t really hard to decide who’s gonna be on it.” Banks also switched up the much-rapped-on beat, making the “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” remix almost an entirely different song. “I had about six different beats,” Banks said. “Just sitting with 50 [Cent], he brought it to my attention to try and change the element a little bit. Being that already 40 or 50 artists already rapped on the [original] beat, it’s kinda hard to decipher what’s the real remix. If they all rapping to the same beat, you can just patch it with the other 40, 50 artists and make a mega-mix and not know what the official remix is. The beat change lets people know off the rip ‘This is the official remix.’ I’m pretty sure they’ll be blending the original beat in with it anyway.” Here, Banks breaks down how each artist came to appear on his remix: The-Dream : “I had spoke to couple of different R&B artists. That’s an element that I think helps. Everybody wants to be a part of that record. I don’t think it has to be kept to one lane. I’ve heard Spanish versions to [the original], Jamaican versions to it, Haitian versions to it. I got a feel of what the melodic feel would bring to the record. The-Dream, he was already doing [his own version]. Once I caught wind of it, I was like, ‘Yo, let me get that. Don’t put that out.’ ” Yo Gotti : “Yo Gotti, I had spoke to him directly. I spoke to him a couple times, told him I wanted to get something done with him. Before that opportunity presented itself, the [song] bubbled all down south in Memphis. I was like, ‘Let’s get Gotti on it.’ He has the street in a chokehold. We’ll probably have more records come in the future also. He definitely has a lane, man, and I wish him luck.” Ludacris : “Luda, that’s the homie, man. Just through that, [it] wasn’t really nothing [difficult]. Luda is out there bubbling, platinum plaques and all that, #1 records, where I’m trying to take it. Shout-out to Luda and shout-out to [Disturbing Tha Peace co-founder] Chaka [Zulu] for making that happen. Jadakiss : “That wasn’t nothing. That wasn’t nothing but a phone call. I spoke to him a few times about the record. I had his verse for a minute. I had his verse while I was overseas and everyone was leaking their versions. We built the beat around his verse. He adds that extra, that lyrical element, that New York City vibe to it. I didn’t want to stand alone on that joint.” What do you think about the “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” remix lineup? Eminem’s ‘Not Afraid’ Enters Billboard Hot 100 At #1

Recovery track is only 16th single to claim that feat in chart’s 52-year history. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem Photo: Michael Loccisano/Getty Images Add another triumph to the long list of achievements for Eminem . The Detroit lyricist will land atop the Billboard Hot 100 on Thursday, when his latest single, “Not Afraid,” debuts at #1, marking only the 16th time in the chart’s history that a record has premiered in the lead slot. According to Billboard, Eminem has now joined a select group of artists that includes Michael Jackson (“You Are Not Alone”), Whitney Houston (“Exhale [Shoop, Shoop]”), Celine Dion (“My Heart Will Go On”), Lauryn Hill (“Doo Wop [That Thing]”) and Diddy (“I’ll Be Missing You”), among others. Mariah Carey leads the pack with three songs having debuted at #1 on the chart, “Fantasy,” “Honey” and her collaboration with Boyz II Men, “One Sweet Day.” “American Idol” has impacted the charts in a big way in recent years, as tunes by Clay Aiken, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks have also opened in the Hot 100 top spot. And the last artist to accomplish that feat was Britney Spears, whose 2009 hit “3” reached the chart’s summit in its first week. “Not Afraid” is Eminem’s first offering from June 22’s Recovery, the follow-up to last year’s Relapse. Late last month, Eminem announced the single via Twitter, writing simply “I’m Not Afraid.” The song debuted online April 29, and on the track Eminem acknowledged his bumpy comeback after a five-year hiatus, calling his last album “ehh,” before promising better material on the upcoming Recovery. “To the fans, I’ll never let you down again, I’m back/ I promise to never go back on that promise,” Em spits in the second verse. “In fact, let’s be honest/ That last Relapse CD was ‘ehh’/ Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground/ Relax, I ain’t going to do that now.” What do you think about Eminem’s achievement? Ben Roethlisberger Clowned By Eminem

Sorry, Ben Roethlisberger. If it’s a taboo subject, carries pop cultural significance or involves a celebrity (you’re 3-for-3), Eminem is gonna go there. Ben has been immortalized in one of the rapper’s songs, fittingly called “Despicable.” That’s when you know you’ve made it … for better or worse. The Pittsburgh Steelers QB thus joins the ranks of Moby, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson, his mom, ex-wife and countless others. “I’d rather turn this club into a bar room brawl/Get as rowdy as Roethlisberger in a bathroom stall,” Eminem raps, referencing Ben’s recent scandal. The line recalls March incident in which, at least according to the unnamed Ben Roethlisberger accuser , he sexually assaulted her in nightclub stall. Em’s about as subtle and restrained as he is un-funny. EMINEM 1, BIG BEN 0 : Sorry dude. You had it coming . While prosecutors declined to charge the two-time Super Bowl champion, citing lack of evidence, the Steelers’ organization and the NFL were none too pleased. After all, it wasn’t the first time a woman made such allegations about him ( Andrea McNulty was the first). Big Ben was suspended without pay for six games. His lame apology didn’t exactly make him appear sympathetic. Roethlisberger’s attorney and Steelers representatives did not immediately return calls seeking Big Ben’s appraisal of the new Eminem track … shockingly. “Despicable” is streaming at Rapradar.com, a site run by Em’s manager. It does not, sadly, appear on his upcoming new album, Recovery , due out June 22.

Bret Michaels’ Sister Says ‘Things Are Definitely Looking Up’

‘He’s not by any means out of the woods, but he is getting better every day,’ Michelle Sychak tells a radio show. By Gil Kaufman Bret Michaels Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Recovery from the kind of brain injury suffered by Poison singer Bret Michaels requires patience and very careful monitoring. And according to his sister, the rocker is making slow but steady progress. “He’s doing good,” said sibling Michelle Sychak in an interview with the Omaha, Nebraska-based “Todd N Tyler Radio Empire” morning-radio show on Wednesday. Michelle said her brother’s speech was good, considering the seriousness of the brain hemorrhage he suffered last Thursday. “Things are definitely looking up. … He sounded good — as good as you can when your brain’s throbbing,” she said. “He seems very coherent to me and like he knew what he was saying. … [He] does sound like Bret. Truth be told, I think he’ll outlive us all.” She spoke to him recently and said, though he’s stable, her brother is still in the intensive care unit. Earlier reports indicated that Michaels was suffering from slow or slurred speech as a result of the buildup of blood at the base of his brain. He continues to be hospitalized at an unnamed clinic in the intensive care unit. “He’s doing good,” she said. “He’s not by any means out of the woods, but he is getting better every day.” She said the fact that Michaels lived through the initial rupture was “a miracle in itself. I’ve never known anyone that dodged so many bullets in their life, both figuratively and literally.” Despite speculation that a staging mishap that resulted in Michaels being hit by a curtain at the 2009 Tony Awards might have caused the injury, she said doctors may never know what caused the rupture. The news came a day after Michaels’ road manager, Janna Elias, posted a note on the rocker’s website indicating that, “Provided there are no further complications or setbacks,” Michaels, 47, could be back out on the road in time for a May 26 date in Fort Smith, Arkansas. “I think good news is around the corner,” she said. “Even though yesterday was a minor setback, doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday,” Elias wrote, referring to a not uncommon side effect of the brain hemorrhage called hyponatremia , a lack of sodium in the body that can lead to seizures. Doctors told Michaels he “is very lucky, as his condition could have been fatal,” she wrote. “With further testing and rehabilitation, they are hopeful that Bret will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system, which can be a very painful recovery and take several weeks to months,” she said. Eminem Is ‘Back’ On ‘Not Afraid,’ Fans Say

‘THAT is the eminem I like hearing,’ one fan tweets about the lead Recovery single. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Eminem’s “Not Afraid” has been the talk of blogs, message boards and social-media networks on Thursday (April 29), as the rapper detoured from his normal route of celebrity-bashing numbers and instead delivered an honest take on his life and career, even calling last year’s Relapse “ehh.” Fans have mostly been supportive, with many noting his departure from zanier fare. “Very different than his usual 1st singles, but I like it,” kevi-B wrote on MTV.com. The Detroit rapper’s last album, Relapse, was among 2009’s highest sellers, but fans complained that it didn’t show off the MC’s skills. The album was Eminem’s first in five years, after suffering from drug dependency and the loss of his close friend, D12 rapper Proof. In interviews, Em noted that the album helped him work his way through writer’s block, and he returned to his Slim Shady persona for aid. Rbrt_vndrvn wrote on MTV.com that the criticism seems to have motivated Eminem on “Not Afraid.” “Well, it’s official: Eminem has to work with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove to bring out his potential,” he said. “From now on, I declare Eminem the underdog, and we will always get great music!” Since Relapse, Eminem stayed visible by contributing to Drake’s “Forever,” Lil Wayne’s “Drop the World” and B.o.B’s “Airplanes (Part II)” in preparation for his upcoming Recovery, due in June. That output left fans excited, and Twitter member Tony Markovich gave Em two virtual thumbs up. “THAT is the Eminem I like hearing,” he tweeted. “Forever, Drop the World, Airplanes, Despicable, and now this!? I’d say he’s back.” Some Slim Shady fans weren’t happy with Eminem dismissing Relapse, which actually took home some awards-show hardware. “Great leadoff song,” Tom wrote on MTV.com “Really goes well with the album title. … I’m surprised he called Relapse ‘ehh.’ Relapse wasn’t as bad as people make it out to be. The only downside to it was it was a bit repetitive, but he spit fire on every track. Em’s ‘ehh’ album still wins a Grammy for Best Rap Album.” Are you excited to hear Eminem’s new music?
