Until we can train dogs to climb, it's poor chumps like the guys in this video who have to shinny up stomach-churningly high communications towers to fix them whenever there's a problem. The tower in this particular video is 1768 feet high. That's over 700ft taller than the Eiffel Tower and 300ft taller than the Empire State Building. And there's no reassuringly safe viewing platform at the top. In order to fix antenna and other gizmo-bits at the very top, a team of engineers take a lift to within 100ft or so from the top and then slowly climb the rest of the way; without ropes or and with a petrifying fall to the death should they slip.
