Source: Patricia Schlein/WENN.com / WENN Chris Rock is under fire after sharing an Instagram post joke connected to the El Paso and Dayton shooting tragedies . Using an image of comedic actress Betty White, Rock’s joke has some fans deeming him a racist for correctly pointing out the race of the domestic terrorists who carried out the crime. Yahoo! reports : “The first thing people say when a mass shooting is announced,” the meme posted by Rock read, with a photo of the Golden Girls star underneath. The punchline is a pun inspired by her name: “Bet he white.” The post fetched mixed reactions, with many cracking up, some expressing relief that the beloved 97-year-old White hadn’t died and quite a few critics slamming Rock for linking the mass shootings to white men. (Last weekend’s shootings in El Paso and Dayton were both committed by white men, one of whom had expressed white supremacist beliefs, though there have been mass shootings, including the Aurora, Ill. and Virginia Beach, Va. ones earlier this year, perpetrated by men of color.) What do you think? Is Chris Rock’s Betty White joke out of line? Sound off in the comments. View this post on Instagram Get it. Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz Blueface is keeping busy. The rapper who has a talent for not riding a beat claims he has slept with over 1,000 women, in just the last six months. DAMN! Blueface told @BigBoy he slept with about 1,000 women in the past 6 months! I'm over there laughing in the back when he said “I'm a f*cker” pic.twitter.com/PJVTx4884S — Ani Caribbean (@AniCaribbean) August 8, 2019 If son develops a persistent cough… Anyway, the “Thotiana” rapper made this claim to Big Boy. In fact, dude even said he had a 5’some (him and four girls, in case you’re wondering). “I’m a f*cker,” said Blueface. Bruh, the look on Big Boy’s face says it all. We got nothing else to add. Oh yeah, he spoke on having 2 girlfriends, too. Clearly, they were probably around for the 3’somes, 4’somes and 5’somes. This guy… We asked @bluefacebleedem about his 2 girlfriends and he said he won't have sex with just one of his girlfriends, “can't do it without each other.” Full interview https://t.co/YdjELCkUFL pic.twitter.com/VK3dGV76Oz — REAL 92.3 LA (@Real923LA) August 8, 2019
Source: PYMCA / Getty Besides a back and forth Twitter spat with Azealia Banks , Vince Staples has been relatively quiet. However, it’s been announced that the Long Beach rapper is now signed to Motown Records, and he’s dropping new music soon. For most of his career, the “Norf Nor” rapper was signed to Def Jam via Blacksmith Recordings. Billboard reports that at Capitol Music Group’s annual meeting it was revealed that Blacksmith Recordings (owned by artist manager Corey Smyth) has moved over to the Capitol Music Group and Motown Records. “Today, more than ever, artists are evolving their professional identities in multi-faceted ways,” said Smyth in a statement. “My mission through Blacksmith Recordings is to nurture young and new talent from the ground up and enable them to expand their vision of success. We are looking at the big picture, thinking about how a musician evolves across genres, what success looks like in the first year and a decade later and what happens after the first album, the second and the third. Our goal is to reinforce career longevity and boundless potential in the artists we represent, while growing global brands around them.” Besides Staples, other acts on Blacksmith include Kilo Kish, Ted When and Benn Good. Smith reportedly is prepping to drop new music in the fourth quarter. Staples’ last album, FM! , dropped in late 2018.

Source: Tony Rivetti / Getty Actress Afton Williamson , who played the role of Talia Bishop on ABC’s The Rookie , has quit the show amid claims of sexual harassment and assault along with racial discrimination. In an Instagram post, Williamson announced her departure while naming those who carried out the alleged acts. “I will not be returning for Season 2 of The Rookie,” Williamson wrote in the caption for the post. “I owe it to you my amazing fans to share the Truth. Throughout the filming of the pilot, I experienced Racial Discrimination/Racially Charged inappropriate comments from the hair department and bullying from Executive Producers.” She added, “During the Season, it continued along with Sexual Harassment from a recurring guest star, Demetrius Grosse, and the racist commentary & bullying from the Hair Dept. Head, Sally Ciganovich escalated into Sexual Assault at our Wrap party. The Sexual Harassment though reported directly to the Showrunner/EP remained undocumented and was not reported to HR as promised. Ciganovich was fired ONLY after the sexual assault and NOT for an entire year of outward racism/racially charged language and bullying behavior in and out of the Hair and Makeup trailer. HR protocol was never adhered to following the above reports given by me to my Showrunner/EP and an investigation was never issued for any of my claims.” In the following post, Williamson thanked her fans and supporters after making her announcement. “I am so beyond overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, kind words, scriptures, strength filled quotes and devout support that has come my way. One Instagram post is just like those 2 fish and 5 loaves of Bread,” Willamson wrote. “The rippling effect it has had in just a few hours shows how much this world is aching with victims of racism, discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual abuse all of it. I am no stranger to all of the above even before this experience. But it is through this experience and my platform that God pushed me to use the power within me.” View the posts below. The only time I was asked to participate in an investigation was after a meeting I called in June following our Season 2 announcement. This meeting included the Showrunner and two other producers as well as my agent and SAG-AFTRA Union Rep. It was clear to all present in the meeting that the Showrunner had not shared my reports with the any of the producers. After my initial report of sexual harassment, I was assured that Grosse would be fired. I was also asked to film with him the very next day as a courtesy to the script, even though we had not begun filming the episode yet. Grosse reappeared on our call sheet at the end of the season, I was even written in scenes with him. I asked the Showrunner about this and he admitted to me that the Grosse had not been fired nor had he gotten HR involved. I was asked to return this season, and promised that “everything was handled.” The investigation hadn’t even begun and Season 2 had already started filming. I turned it down and I walked. I am no stranger to all of the above even before this experience. But it is through this experience and my platform that God pushed me to use the power within me. It just takes a VOICE. I never imagined so many of us have experienced these horrible circumstances and that can NO LONGER GO UNHEARD. We have a voice. ALL OF US. It is our DUTY to use it. I used to fear the word Victim. I scoffed at it because all I was told when these injustices happened to me, was to Survive. Survivor I am. Victim I am also. A victim of injustice. A victim of assault. Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty M amie Till-Mobley, mother of Emmett Till, will be the central focus for season one of ABC’s Women of the Movement, a new series that will highlight and chronicle the civil-rights movement “as told by the women behind it.” The series will be produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith, both of whom were vital to securing the show a spot on ABC’s lineup. The show will focus on Mamie Till, whose son — Emmett Till — was lynched by a white mob in Mississippi for allegedly winking at a white woman in 1955. Following his death, Till-Mobley went on to join a forces with major players in the fight for civil rights justice following her son’s death. She dedicated the rest of her life to the civil justice and reform until her own passing in 2003. Jay-Z originally teamed up with HBO to work on a miniseries surround Emmet Till, where Taraji P. Henson was set to play his mother, but when director John Middleton died in April, the project was believed to be dissolved. It is not confirmed, but speculated that Women of the Movement is a the product of the work already done into the aforementioned miniseries surround Till. When proposed with the possibility of grabbing the rights to this, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke instantly loved the idea as the series would turn attention to the women who were responsible for so many key events associated with the civil rights movement. This move aligns perfectly with Burke’s proposition to get more women in programming at the station.
Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty It’s already hard to make rank anything from best to worst — but when it comes to rappers, it’s damn near impossible to come up with a list that everyone agrees on. On Monday, The Brew Podcast posted a list of who they think the 50 Greatest Rapper of All Time are, and were bold enough to put them in order. They had Jay-Z at number one (rightfully so), Nas at number two (no complaints there), but ish got real shakey when they got to number three. Let's argue pic.twitter.com/u80dkZ4Max — The Brew Podcast (@TheBrewPodcast1) August 5, 2019 That’s right. The Internet’s own Joe Budden was ranked number three on the list of the 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time. We love Joe. But does he really rap better than Biggie, Rakim and Ghostface? No way. Folks are so shocked by the trolling list that some have a theory that Joe himself is actually the one who created it. Joe budden made this list, He think he slick, As number 3? Yeah… aight No Kanye? It all depends what you look for in an mc. With me, it’s always connecting as a human being. Joe Budden does that far better than most. Hot 97 Morning Show host Ebro Darden chimed in with his two cents, and even dropped a list of his own.
