Source: The 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards Show held at The Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta – Inside Featuring: Bobby Shmurda Where: Atlanta, Georgia, United States When: 20 Sep 2014 Credit: WENN.com It’s been a little more than four years since Bobby Shmurda was arrested on weapons and conspiracy charges. While it seemed likely he wouldn’t see the light of day for a lot longer, Bobby’s mother, Leslie Pollard , informed fans that Bobby should be coming home by 2020. Yesterday Ms. Pollard continued to keep Shmurda fans hopes up as she posted a picture of her recent visit with the “Hot N*gga” rapper with a caption that read, “Great visit with my stinky…..the count down continues 22 months to go. Chewy is in great spirits he sends his Love and he can not wait to be back to work.” Talk about more power in a mother’s hand than a king’s scepter. Hopefully Bobby will be able to pick up where he left off and get back in the rap game up and running.
Watch what you say in front of the mirror. It looks like our favorite homicidal urban legend will soon be back on the big screen. Word is Lakeith Stanfield is in talks to star in Candyman . Produced by Jordan Peele the film is said to be a sequel to the 1992 horror classic. Based on Clive Barker’s The Forbidden short story, the original follows a female student researching urban legends. Her work leads her to the ghost of an artist and son of a slave who was murdered in the late-19th century called Candyman. Screen Rant is reporting that Stanfield will play Anthony, an artist researching the gory myth who eventually summons the killer spirit. His name seems very purposeful as the original protagonist Helen escapes Candyman’s trap with a baby named Anthony in the final scene. Whether or not his role indicates he is indeed the infant has yet to be confirmed. If casted the booking should not come as a surprise considering that Stanfield has worked with Peele previously in the horror comedy satire hit Get Out . Candyman went on to become a cult classic spawning two sequels including Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) and Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999). You can view the trailer to the original below. Source: JLN Photography/WENN.com / WENN Already dogged by a towering number of allegations since the airing of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly , the singer is contending with another claim of violence and abuse. In 2017, sources say Kelly slammed his ex-girlfriend Halle Calhoun into a backstage wall in a jealous rage but Kelly’s camp says the incident never happened. TMZ reports : The sources connected to Halle say the attack went down sometime in 2017. Halle — a Georgia woman who was 19 or 20 and living with the singer at the time — was attending one of his concerts, and when he came backstage afterward, we’re told he accused her of looking at another man. We’re told Halle took the first shot, shoving R. Kelly … who retaliated by grabbing her by her clothes “around her neck” and tossing her like a rag doll into a wall. The alleged incident went down in front of multiple witnesses — including Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary, we’re told. Halle was most upset R. Kelly had broken her necklace, a beloved cross that belonged to a family member. Our sources say there were at least 2 other violent incidents, including one where R. Kelly allegedly slapped Halle — again, because he thought she had looked at a group of men as they entered a hotel. The source adds that Calhoun has long since moved on and is now dating rapper Rocko. — Photo: WENN

Source: Blackbird Film Fest Team / Blackbird Film Fest Team In a recent interview with Vulture , Mo’Nique didn’t hold back and had some choice words about Whoopi Goldberg . “She’s always been the help,” the Oscar winner said about her fellow Oscar winner. See, her comments were related to the last time she was in the hot seat The View discussing her career and 2018 Netflix boycott for offering a measly 500K for her own stand-up special. Apparently, Whoopi told her she could have “schooled” the veteran comedian on how to understand contracts. “When you have a woman saying, ‘I could have schooled you,’ someone would say, ‘What was the schooling going to be?’ When I look at this woman you say is our icon and our legend — she is,” Mo’Nique stressed. “But, how many things has Whoopi Goldberg executive produced? Whoopi Goldberg has always been the help, and I say that humbly. So what is it that you’re going to school me on? I’ve been doing it for almost 30 years.” (FACT CHECK: Vanity Fair pointed out that Goldberg has actually produced 30 projects, but we digress.) In addition, the actress brought up some of Whoopi’s own problematic past. “This is a woman who says ‘I could have schooled you,’ and this is a woman who accepted Ted Danson in blackface, and our community praises this woman,” she added. “So often times, we do it to ourselves. But, I just can’t. Understand, I love my sister. However, when you know you’re being fed the wrong food, you must say, ‘I can’t chew this, y’all.’” Mo also shared some details about a behind the scenes conversation she had with Whoopi, expressing to The View co-host that she hoped her boycott would help the future queens in comedy who should know to demand their worth. According to her, Whoopi wasn’t having that either. “In that moment I knew I was looking at a woman who didn’t give a damn about me,” Mo’Nique said. “And if she’s telling me, ‘Stop worrying about that little girl who not here yet,’ well, she forgot about the ones that came before her who were worried about her.” Welp! Mo’Nique called Whoopi “the help.” pic.twitter.com/H0ajGSBYPS — [kie.ran] (@danblackroyd) January 25, 2019 Mo wasn’t done though. In that same interview she kept it 100 about Tyler Perry. Remember, last summer she released a secret recording of the director and Precious executive producer telling her she had been mistreated by those in the industry and how her career stalled after winning the Academy Award. Caught on tape, Perry claimed he was going to speak up for her. Yet, let Mo tell it, that never happened. “Here’s the thing: he’s never done it,” Mo’Nique said. “We had given Tyler Perry a year to keep his word. Brother, you said you were going to come out and say something. Well, you never came out and said anything. And what was disheartening was people who were saying, ‘How could you tape him?’ But, they weren’t saying, ‘Oh my God, did you hear what he said? He said she wasn’t wrong.’” She continued, saying, “We didn’t accept any money.” Neither Whoopi or Tyler have responded to Mo’Nique’s comments. While accepting the award Chadwick who was joined on stage by Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nygong’o, Danai Gurira, Andy Serkis, Sterling K. Brown, and Angela Bassett, gave a passionate speech about being “young, gifted and black.” “Well, I’ll be,” Chadwick Boseman, said. “To be young, gifted and black, we all know what it’s like to be told that there is not a place for you to be featured. Yet you are young, gifted and black. We know what it’s like to be told there’s not a screen for you to be featured on, a stage for you to be featured on, we know what it’s like to be the tail and not the head. We know what it’s like to be beneath, and not above. And that is what we went to work with every day,” Boseman also thanked “genius” director Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studios chief and master architect Kevin Feige.
