‘RHOAS11’ Recap: NeNe Leakes Is Over Tokyo, Gregg And The Crew

Read the original post:

Source: JB Lacroix / Getty The Real Housewives of Atlanta crew is still in Tokyo. NeNe got all pissed with Tanya for thinking she was being negative. Tanya came to tears because she was confused about why NeNe was being hostile toward her. Basically, NeNe is going through her own stuff with Gregg and taking it out on everyone. Over it dot come. Since things don’t seem to be getting any less frustrating at lunch, NeNe decides to leave the group, which is probably for the best. Once lunch is over, they all pile onto their bus to head back to the hotel and that’s when Marlo and Eva get into it. It all starts when Marlo tries it. Basically, Eva explains how they should dress for their night out on the town and tells them not to wear wedge sneakers, which is silly but whatevs. That triggers Marlo and she starts attempting to go in on Eva for wearing flats. But anyone who has ever seen Eva on America’s Next Top Model knows that Eva has plenty of time. So, she starts going in on Marlo. It gets so bad that Marlo has no comebacks left other than, “Respect your elders.” We all saw the fallout from that comment in the preview commercial where Eva replies with, “I got two babies and a husband,” and then Marlo retorts with, “Two babies by two different men.” That doesn’t slow Eva down from roasting though. This entire situation is basic af. But we’re here for it. Let’s not front. Back at the hotel, Eva gets bad news about her grandfather. They’re going to remove his breathing tube so he’s going to pass away shortly after that. Tanya and surprisingly, Marlo, are the first to come to comfort her. Eventually, the other women come to check on her too. They give her space to cry and grieve, but Eva decides to stay in Tokyo and continue her trip. It’s what her grandfather would have wanted. It’s nice to see them not tearing each other to shreds for once, even Marlo’s evil self. Let’s fast forward a bit. NeNe is still acting all aggy because Gregg has been ignoring her, so obviously she’s not really trying to hear it when Tanya pulls her aside, again, to talk about her comment about her relationship. NeNe tells Tanya that she took it wrong. Tanya keeps pushing and repeats that NeNe was speaking negativity. NeNe finally apologizes, in a snippy way, but repeats that she didn’t mean it negatively and Tanya keeps talking in circles again about Nene speaking negatively and we’re all like: Let it go, girl. But they eventually seem to get over it and plan to finish turning up Tokyo-style. However, we know this group so we know peace probably won’t last long. Let’s meet back here next week to discuss. Mary J. Blige Is An Agent of The Apocalypse In Latest Trailer To ‘The Umbrella Academy’

Read the rest here:

Source: Netflix / Netflix We’re not too far away from finally witnessing Mary J. Blige hand out fades to some superhuman cats in Netflix’s upcoming series The Umbrella Academy and while it’s first trailer was a cool introduction to the cast and villains, it’s second trailer will certainly heighten anticipation for the show’s premiere next month. Based on the Dark Horse comic book series created by Gerald Way, the plot to The Umbrella Academy is certainly easy enough to follow for anyone not familiar with the story. On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. Now, the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and must work together to solve a mystery surrounding his death. But the estranged family begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse. What the synopsis doesn’t tell you is that the Queen of Hip-Hop soul is one half of an assassin duo that are hellbent on keeping the apocalypse date on schedule, and if that means bodying a superhuman or two, so be it. Sounds Trumpian almost. Check out the latest trailer to The Umbrella Academy below and let us know if you’ll be tuning it come February 15.

For The First Time Since 1866, There Won’t Be Any Sweetheart Conversation Hearts This Valentine’s Day

Excerpt from:

Source: RobinOlimb / Getty Valentine’s Day can be an amazing day for some, and for others, it’s the most annoying day of the year. But whether or not you enjoy the holiday, chances are you associate those little candy hearts with February 14th–but this year, thing’s are going to be a little bit different. For the first time since 1866, the world will be celebrating Valentine’s Day without SweetHeart’s Conversation Hearts. The New England Confectionary Company (which you might more commonly know as ‘Necco’) is no longer producing the classic Valentine’s Day candy, which means all of us are going to have to find another way to tell our crush how we feel about them. SweetHearts first began making these ever-popular conversation hearts all the way back in 1866. The operation was then taken over by Necco in 1901, and since then, they’ve become the most popular Valentine’s Day candy in approximately 21 states. Last year, CandyStore.com reported that they were the most popular Valentine’s Day candy in America. With all those statistics going in SweetHearts’ favor–why are they not being sold in 2019? Until 2018, Necco was the oldest continually operating candy company—but in July, the company abruptly closed and announced they needed to sell. Someone either needed to buy all of Necco or purchase the brands individually and in September, Necco was purchased by Round Hill Investments, who then sold the SweetHearts brand to Spangler Candy Company. One thing most people probably don’s know about the popular Valentine’s Day candy is how long they take to produce. Because of the insane timespan it takes to create the supply of conversation hearts, Spangler Candy Company didn’t have enough time to make the hearts for 2019. It took Necco 11 months to produce 8 billion conversation hearts—all of which would be sold in the 6 weeks leading up to the holiday. Since Necco’s factories were closed down in July and Spangler didn’t take over until a few months later in September, they weren’t able to keep up with the insane demand for 2019. But there’s some good news for all the Conversation Heart lovers out there: Spangler’s CEO has already announced the hearts will be back on shelves next year in 2020. CandyStore.com  is now reporting that sales of the hearts are down 80 percent from last year, and while you may be able to find a few leftover boxes from 2018, new hearts won’t be hitting shelves at all. If you do find boxes on store shelves—or somewhere online like  on Amazon —just keep in mind that these treats have likely been sitting in a warehouse since last year. But all the lovers out there won’t be left completely empty handed for 2019. Sour Patch Kids made their own conversation hearts this year, which could be a great alternative to the classic we’re doing without.

Kevin Durant Opens Facility In Maryland To Help Kids Through College

Here is the original post:

Source: The Washington Post / Getty Kevin Durant is, without doubt, one of the NBA’s most electrifying players and a solid cog in the high-powered Golden State Warriors offense. But like other youth from his home state of Maryland, Durant wasn’t gifted with endless riches to go to the next level scholastically and now, he’s using his platform to assist others with that journey via the new Durant Center facility in Prince George’s County.  The Washington Post writes : About two years ago, Durant was looking for ways to widen his philanthropic portfolio. He had, a year earlier, signed a two-year contract with Golden State worth about $54 million. His foundation had overseen the construction of parks and basketball courts throughout the United States, including some in the Washington area. But now he wanted something more far-reaching, so he attended a conference for start-up companies and met representatives for College Track, a company that uses a 10-year plan to shepherd students from their early teenage years through college graduation. Before long, Durant found himself visiting a center in Oakland, Calif., discussing how to bring something like that to Washington while paying attention to that facility’s students. “He was interested in understanding their journey and what types of services we provided that really change their trajectory,” said Elissa Salas, College Track’s chief executive. The organization, whose collaboration with Durant would lead to its first site on the East Coast, considered property in the District — Salas said a second College Track location will open this autumn in Congress Heights in Southeast D.C. and a third is in the early planning stages — but that Durant was adamant Prince George’s County seemed right. How dope is that? Learn more about College Track and the Durant Center by following this link . Peep the video below too. — Photo: Getty

Despite Being A Sexual Assault Victim, Lil’ Mo Is Still Defending R. Kelly: ‘I’m Not Muting Sh*t’

Originally posted here:

Source: Santiago Felipe / Getty Lil’ Mo is a sexual assault victim who doesn’t believe other sexual assault victims. Mo vehemently defended R. Kelly and condemned the parents of the teenage girls who were victims of his perversions on a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club.” MUST READ: Lil Mo Defends Fab: I’ll Olivia Pope This Whole Situation Before I Let Somebody Take My Brother Down’ After admitting she was molested by a member of her church and that she didn’t tell her parents until she confessed it on R&B Divas at a late age, Mo, baffled by the idea of the victims not coming out, denounced the victims with the asinine comment, “Why now?” “Who raised the people?” she continued. According to Lil’ Mo, her father raised her to be aware, which, in addition to the sexual assault incident in her youth, made her an overprotective parent. Yet still, it happened to her. But perhaps that hasn’t clicked in Mo’s mind because she questioned why the victims took so long to come forward. She even acknowledged women feel “like we’re lesser.” And when she vehemently defended R. Kelly, Charlamagne interjected to add, “you can’t blame parents for the actions of a grown a** man.” Nonetheless, she proclaimed, she isn’t muting sh*t. Mo’s stance isn’t surprising. After all, she defended her former collaborator Fabolous after video of the rapper verbally assaulting his longtime lover Emily B and her father surfaced on the Internet. “One thing I refuse to allow this industry or for anybody to do is to taint his legacy,” she said. “At the end of the day I’m not going to let nobody go out as an abuser and as a..whatever they’re calling him. I’m not letting it happen. You have to protect the king.” Pretty much, Lil’ Mo is out here caping for “kings” at the expense of women and herself as she broke down moments later discussing how loyal she is to her loved ones, who aren’t as loyal to her. Lil’ Mo isn’t alone. This week, Erykah Badu and Taraji P. Henson both made troubling statements that laddered up to the support of a monster. Similar to Mo’s sentiments–Erykah Badu blatantly admitted that she still loves R. Kelly and will continue to pray for him. This is also the same woman who tweeted in 2016, “Young Girls need to wear longer skirts to fight against natural male teacher attraction.” There’s a generational divide between millennial women and our proverbial aunties. Women once found strength in how much they could take whereas younger women refuse to take all society, particularly men, has to throw at them. In the Black community, it seems holding men accountable takes a backseat to placing the onus on young girls. Whereas young White girl victims are allowed to be innocent, young Black victims are seen as “fast” or “fresh.” Particularly perplexing with Lil’ Mo is that she is a victim but won’t acknowledge the victim in others. That she can’t understand why someone dealing with the shame of sexual assault, abuse would not immediately come out. That she questioned the parents before denouncing the man behind the horrors. Black women have to do better. Defending a man isn’t more important that defending our own. RELATED STORIES: Erykah Badu Tries To Clarify Her R.
