Let some tell it, she kind of bombed, so much so that she was booed, prompting some folks at her sold-out show to walk out. Apparently, “The Last O.G.” star had been “partying all night,” still had some “Ciroc in her system” and had trouble remembering her lines. She ended up cutting her set short, but to make sure the audience still had a good time, she invited some folks up on stage to enjoy some of her vodka and see if they could do stand-up better than her. “F–k it,” she declared. “I really wanted to talk about some stuff and can’t remember none of it.” Was her behavior disappointing? Most definitely. Should everyone get a refund? Absolutely. However, unlike most of your male comedian faves, the 39-year-old took complete accountability for her actions, tweeting on Tuesday, “Yes this happened. I wish it was better Miami. And if one bad night means you should “find a new career,” this means your geniuses— Dave Chappelle , Chris Rock , Kevin Hart & company —would all be out of jobs because every one of those comic has bombed, at every stage of their careers. Yet, funny how these same folks don’t have this same kind of energy for men. But what’s really depressing is that these critiques aren’t just coming from dudes with 200 or less Twitter followers, we’ve seen this from Tiffany’s colleagues. As some of the tweets above pointed out, Katt Williams of all people with his own personal struggles, fixed his lips to say that Tiffany didn’t deserve her success . “She’s been doing comedy since she was 16. You can’t tell me your favorite Tiffany Haddish joke. Why? Because she ain’t done a tour yet. She ain’t done a special. She has not proven the ability to tell jokes back to back for an hour to nobody,” Williams said. And then in classic hotep fashion, Katt basically called her a negro bedwench. “They like her because she wanna sleep with a white man. That’s why the only thing she said was I wanna give it to Brad Pitt. She said she’s got a diseased vajayjay ain’t nobody checking for that.” Even her own “Last O.G.” co-star Tracey Morgan showed his ass during a 2018 interview, literally acting like someone stole his bike when asked what it was like to work with the “Girls Trip” comedienne . And it’s completely OK for her and her humor to not be your cup of tea. I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m still figuring out how I feel about her, her love for Taylor Swift’s collard greens and that whole #WhoBitBeyonce mess , but this hatred for her just doesn’t make any sense. Or maybe it does. Too often, when Black women have the audacity to excel at their craft, especially in areas that are male dominated, there will always be insecure men who will do and say anything to undermine that success. Hence, all these new rules that Black women have to follow and double standards we must adhere to that men never have to abide by. See, our greatness isn’t always looked at something to celebrate, it can be seen as a threat and a roadblock to other’s accomplishments. ‘Cause be crystal clear: We’re all Black queens, until our stars begin to shine brighter than theirs. Tiffany Haddish just happens to be the one currently in the crosshairs of that misogynist nonsense and her bombing in Miami continues to show us that as Black women we aren’t allowed to make mistakes. There is no room for error. We have to work harder, be smarter and be flawless in order for our talent to get a sliver of the recognition our mediocre male counterparts garner. But whether you love or hate her, Ms. Haddish isn’t going anywhere, but up. It’s apropos that tonight’s episode starts with Trina. Her deal is that she is having an extremely hard time getting Trick Daddy to commit to buckling down and finally recording their TNT album, which they’ve been talking about forever. This is definitely going to be the hook of this episode, probably the season. Amara La Negra is back and she blew up since we saw her last season. Now she can take care of her mom the way she always wanted to. Then we meet Jessie Woo, comedian, and host. You may already know her from her poppin’ Instagram. She’s back in Miami after doing some work in New York for BET, and we learn that she’s the product of a strict Haitian family. Her mom, who is a minister, loves her but isn’t really into her career choice. Let’s fast forward a bit. Jessie gathers some women from the cast and their moms for a brunch. We all know what happens at these—all gossip everything. We learn that JoJo is dating Pleasure P. Then Amara La Negra’s name comes up. Apparently, Jessie fired her manager, who was also Amara’s manager, but he was (allegedly) feeding Amara all of Jessie’s ideas hence the firing. Then Jessie accuses Amara of flirting with her man. That’s when Miami Tip pipes up with info she got from Keyara that Amara was (allegedly) all up in Gunplay’s DM’s too. These ladies obviously want to have a chat with Amara. That’s going to be interesting, especially since JoJo makes it clear that she’s going to hip Amara to game since they’re friends. The other ladies do not like that, but it is what it is. Speaking of Keyara, she and Gunplay, who have been on the outs lately, come together to see if they can get right. They cannot. Keyara doesn’t trust Gunplay and it’s as simple as that. She believes that he has been having fun with women in his DM’s. Gunplay denies the latter but he does take ownership of making her feel like she doesn’t matter and agrees to give her space. Finally, we’re back on Trick Daddy and Trina. They’re about to hit the stage for a highly anticipated performance, but before they step out Trina wants to have a little chat with him. Trina tells him that he needs to buckle down so they can get TNT together. Trick gets tight because he wants to get into the studio when he says so. He doesn’t really want to deal with this at the moment, or ever, and says they should just get on stage. So, they perform “Take it to the House” It starts off well, and the audience is feeling it, but Trick pulls a sucka move when he notices that Trina is getting ready to perform her own songs. He cuts her mic off and leaves. That sends Trina flying into a rage. She goes all the way off and has a meltdown backstage because she’s tired of being disrespected by Trick. Obviously, the TNT project is over, at least for now. When it comes to finding the perfect gift for his 93-year-old grandmother Hattie White, Jay-Z found that gift in the form a monument that will stand the test of time. Hov, Beyoncé, their three children, his mother Gloria Carter and her mom were in Prospect Park on Christmas Eve to see and take photographs with the engraved bench the rapper gifted to his grandmother. As reported by the Jay-Z Instagram fan account @aintnojigga in a now deleted post the engraving states: “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago. With love and admiration to our root, Hattie White.” It’s no secret how influential Hattie has been on their lives and in the couple’s music. Jay-Z references his grandmother in his exceptional verse on Meek Mill’s track “What’s Free,” and Beyoncé’s album Lemonade was reportedly inspired by Hattie’s speech from her 90th birthday celebration in 2015 when she stated: “I had my ups and downs, but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade.” If that sounds familiar to you, it was also featured at the end of the song “Freedom” which is narrated by White herself. Yesterday (Dec. 29), the rapper/producer/designer took to Twitter to express his anger at finding out Drake was once again following his wife on Instagram. We repeat, Yeezy was big mad the 6 God followed Kim Kardashian on IG. Again, a guy who just bought his wife a Miami Beach condo for a cool $14M , is upset about an actor turned rapper following said spouse on social media. “I never knew till this morning that Drake followed my wife on Instagram back in September,” Kanye tweeted in a series of since deleted tweets that included a screenshot of an article about the non-story. “When I want to [sic] far with Wiz everybody stood up and I had to apologize cause it was too far.” He added, “I had to bring this up because it’s the most f*cked up thing of all and I just saw it this morning. Imagine having a problem with somebody and they follow your wife on Instagram.” Word, son? Although the tweets were wiped, this is the Internets. Cynthia is preparing to send Noelle to Howard University, and both women are nervous wrecks because this will be the first thing Noelle has ever done without dear mama. However, Cynthia is proud of her baby girl and is planning to celebrate. The scene is Lake Bailey, and we’re in the middle of Noelle’s send-off party. Unfortunately, Noelle refuses to come downstairs and has a breakdown where she tearfully explains to her mother that she can’t go and wants the guests who are already there to go home. Mama Bear Cynthia comforts her girl and assures her that everything will be alright. Hold that thought. In other news, Todd and Mama Joyce aren’t on good terms, which sucks because they had made so much progress. Basically, Mama Joyce made a comment in an interview, that Kandi took Todd from lemons to lemonade, and Todd hasn’t taken too kindly to that because he feels it’s an insult. Mama Joyce says she meant it as a compliment but we all know how shady she can be. So now it’s up to Kandi to try to get them to be cool again. Kandi would like her mom to apologize and Mama Joyce has agreed. We’re nervous about how this goes but let’s fast forward a bit. Mama Joyce and Todd have their discussion and it actually goes well. Looks like all is well in Kandi Land again. Porsha has a major moment as she learns that her pregnancy is viable. You know she has been worried about this pregnancy due to having had prior miscarriages and her fibroid situation, but she finally has her first prenatal doctor’s appointment. It looks like everything is going well, but the only bummer for Porsha is that she will have to have a c-section due to having a myomectomy . Now we fast forward a bit and we’re back to Cynthia. She successfully convinces Noelle to go to Howard and they end up spending a weekend getting her settled into her new dorm. Luckily for Noelle, her roommate situation fell through so she has a room all to herself. Finally, the episode winds down with Cynthia and Leon sending Noelle back to campus, alone in an Uber, after a nice dinner. Noelle is still nervous but ready to level up. Next week it’s Kandi vs. Porsha again and it’s going to get heated, heated . According to Gallup’s annual poll of the most admired people in America, Michelle topped Hillary Clinton as the country’s most admired woman, the first time in 17 years the former presidential candidate and secretary of state did not top the list. 15 percent of Americans surveyed selected Obama as their most admired woman. Oprah finished second with five percent where Clinton and current First Lady Melania Trump received four percent of the vote. Former President Obama took 19 percent of the vote on the men’s side with 13 percent shockingly picking Donald Trump . Boasting an all-star cast which includes Trevante Rhodes , Lil Rel Howery , Jacki Weaver , Sarah Paulson, Machine Gun Kelly, and John Malkovich, the Bird Box screening at Atlanta’s CineBistro at Town Brookhaven truly complimented the films growing buzz. Hosted by Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss and cast member Lil Rel Howery , Bird Box was all the talk among writers and bloggers. With tasty appetizers on deck; crispy coconut shrimp, wagyu beef sliders, chicken satay skewers, and mac-and-cheese bites, as well as delicious Bird Box, themed alcoholic beverages – The Blindfold and The Douglas, the VIP screening was a great way to kick off the holiday season. With only a few people left (those who kept their eyes closed), Malorie seeks safety for her two children, Girl and Boy. After her sisters’ death, Malorie links up with a small group of strangers and takes refuge in their home. When the house is no longer safe, Malorie packs up her kids and departs with her new boo, heroic co-star Tom (Trevante Rhodes), with hopes of finding a sanctuary. Determined to survive and to reach safety, Malorie ventures down a treacherous river for two-days with her family. Blindfolded, but not broken by the events, Malorie relies on her maternal instincts and survival skills to beat the odds. What we loved about the film… Bird Box clearly brings the thrills plus suspense and some really chilling moments to the table, along with a soft touch of romance with Tom under trying circumstances. We loved the dark, edgy and cold feel of the picture. Another plus – the casting and acting are stellar. Where the movie falls short – viewers may feel a bit slighted because the mysterious force isn’t fully explained and the romance between Malorie and Tom doesn’t reach its height.
