Tanorexic New Jersey mom Patricia Krentcil again denied bringing her five-year-old daughter into a tanning booth today, saying that the two “only go shopping together” and that she is a good mother. “I would never, ever put my daughter in a tanning booth,” Krentcil said in the video which was posted on TMZ.com. “We go out shopping, that’s what we do. When Florida police checked out a child abuse report, they found an emaciated boy lying on the floor inside a locked bathroom at his home, apparently punished for stealing food. The boy was rushed to the hospital where workers said he resembled a concentration camp survivor, and they treated him for malnutrition and dehydration. The 12-year-old boy’s father and his girlfriend have been charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect. Two other kids at the home have been removed as child welfare officials investigate. According to a police report, the boy – weighing just 40 pounds – was locked in a bathroom, strapped to a bed or caged in a closet for days or weeks at a time over the past year. Brevard County Jail records show 38-year-old Michael Marshall and 48-year-old Sharon Glass have been charged with three counts each of aggravated child abuse and three counts each of child neglect. A judge ordered both be held without bond. It is not immediately clear if they have an attorney. The Titusville Police Department received a report of a young child being unlawfully caged and suffering from abuse, though the report doesn’t spell out whether there was a cage inside the closet. Authorities in Titusville have not returned telephone calls from The Associated Press. Marshall is the father of the 12-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl. Glass is the mother of the 5 year-old boy. The two other children at the home were being seen by doctors, said Carrie Hoeppner, spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Children and Families. “No doubt that the younger two have been subjected to mental abuse,” Hoeppner said. Marshall also has a 17-year-old son with his ex-wife, Lisa Minshall, 36, who lives in southwestern Ohio. She said her son was still an infant when she and Marshall divorced, and Marshall hasn’t seen him since he was 3. “I kind of feel sick, and I’m kind of happy that that situation didn’t happen to me and my son,” Minshall said. “If I would have stayed around long enough, he probably would have been abusive to his first son.” Marshall was arrested on a criminal domestic violence charge in Ohio in 1995, records showed. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he was convicted. Welfare officials investigated neglect and concerns about the home environment in the summer of 2010. Once the investigation was closed, the boy was taken out of school and went “unnoticed for so long,” Hoeppner said. There were no other reports from the home or contact between welfare officials and the couple. Brevard Public Schools spokeswoman Christine Davis said the boy was removed from the system for homeschooling in August 2010. Records shows the boy was moved to a private school less than two months later, but the name of the private school wasn’t listed. The couple’s home is located in Titusville, about 40 miles east of Orlando on the coast. The town was known as a good place to watch space shuttle launches at Cape Canaveral. Myrtle Wilcox, a neighbor, said she hadn’t seen the boy since November, when he was outside on the front lawn playing with a dog. “The boy looked to be about 8- or 10-years-old,” Wilcox said. She said he was slender but nothing seemed wrong. On Christmas Eve, Wilcox said Marshall had come over to get help jumping a car. He and his girlfriend wanted to go to a store to buy last minute gifts for their children. “Just ordinary people,” Wilcox said. “Going to work and tending to their own business and taking care of their family. Authorities paid a visit to Dekaney High School in Houston, Tex., after what students called an “outrageous” brawl broke out in the cafeteria, KHOU-TV reports. “All these people came and just started hitting everybody,” student Maya Rodriguez told the station. “After a while, I got hit and everybody just started fighting. So I hit back…” A student caught the riot on cell phone camera, and told KTRK that students were throwing items like milk cartons in the cafeteria and trash cans in the halls. Parents told KTRK that they’re sick of the violence the school, and blame the “lack of control” by school officials. Dekaney High School principal Delic Lloyd says they are working to fix the problem, the station reports. “We are working hard to work together and partner with parents and the community to improve the climate of Dekaney High School and to prove the teaching and learning that’s taking place here,” Lloyd told KTRK. A Brooklyn mother has been busted for abandoning two of her daughters on a sidewalk — leaving them alone hours after she gave them a curse-filled tongue-lashing, cops and neighbors said. Dalisha Adams, 26, was charged Monday with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for cruelly leaving Dominae, 5, and Diani, 3, in the cold, police said. A neighbor of Adams at the Breukelen Houses in Canarsie said she often heard the mom screaming at the girls and their older sister, who lives with an aunt. “She was always yelling at the kids, ‘Shut the f— up,’” said the neighbor, who did not want to be identified. “One day, I heard her curse out the little baby, ‘I’ll punch you in the f—— face,’” the neighbor said. She said she heard another blowup on Sunday, not long before the girls were found about two miles away in front of the Bay View Houses, clutching disposable diapers. “Usually I hear the yelling at night or early in the morning, 4 or 5, but this was in the daytime,” the neighbor said. “A kid was crying. She was saying, ‘Stop crying. Shut the f— up. I’m gonna get you out of here.’” The girls told police their mother left them on the sidewalk and just drove away. An elderly couple found them wandering up and down the street. The 5-year-old told cops their mother’s name is Dalisha and that she was driving a white car but did not know the make nor model of the vehicle. Cops went door-to-door in an effort to identify the children. About 10:10 p.m. on Sunday night, police showed up to Adams’ apartment and used a crowbar to open the door, a resident said. Adams apparently was not inside. She surrendered at the 69th Precinct stationhouse around 11:30 p.m. A neighbor said the girls were usually well-dressed and clean, and Adams’ MySpace page is filled with photos of her daughters. But another resident of the housing project confirmed Adams was harsh with the kids. “She talks very dirty to the children and treats them nasty. She pulls their arm and curses at the children,” the neighbor said. “It’s not right,” she said of the abandonment. “They’re better off with someone else.” The sisters did not appear to be abused but were taken to Brookdale University Hospital as a precaution. SMH… Epitome of a bad mother , or bad batch of meth? A woman who shot her two young children, their father and a cousin in California’s Central Valley before committing suicide took video of herself on her iPad as she smoked methamphetamine prior to the killings, police said Monday. The apparent murder-suicide by 23-year-old Aide Mendez began Sunday morning when she argued with the father of her two children, 33-year-old Eduardo Lopez. After neighbors called police to report trouble, officers arrived to find Lopez outside the Silver Lakes Apartment with knife and gunshot wounds, said Lt. Mark Salazar, homicide commander for the Fresno Police Department. They heard a muffled shot from inside the first-floor apartment and discovered Mendez had killed herself, her boyfriend’s cousin, Paul Medina, 27, as well as her two children, 17-month-old Aliyah Echeverria and Isaiah Echeverria, 3. Police told The Fresno Bee they found Mendez in the bathroom, and found the children in the apartment’s bathtub, where they had been shot at least once. The boy was found dead on the scene, Salazar said. Police tried to resuscitate the girl but she later died at a nearby hospital. “We do know that drugs played a key role, but we don’t know to what extent,” Salazar said. “She was seen prior to the shooting smoking methamphetamine. She recorded herself on an iPad showing her and Paul Medina smoking meth. We know the power of meth.” Salazar said the time stamp on the iPad video would have to be tested but preliminary information indicated it was recorded within a few hours of the murder. “Her actions just seemed bizarre; her mannerism, the way she was moving her hands and her facial expressions,” Salazar said, noting other drugs may have been involved but that it would take weeks before the toxicology reports were complete. Lopez remained in critical condition Monday evening at Community Regional Medical Center with stab wounds and a gunshot wound to the neck, said Mary Lisa Russell, a hospital spokeswoman. A 7-year-old neighbor girl who was in the apartment escaped unharmed. Authorities said Monday they had yet to piece together a motive, but said family members reported that Mendez had lost a baby several years ago, and was still grieving over the loss. Police recovered 10 grams of meth, $8,000 in cash and three firearms in the apartment; two of them used. “There’s some things we just don’t know because most of the people in that house are dead and the one person who is alive can’t speak right now,” Salazar said. Jesus Gonzalez told KFSN-TV, an ABC affiliate in Fresno, that shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday he heard gunshots and then a pounding on his door. He opened the door to find Lopez bleeding profusely. “I opened the door and he fell in front of me, and I take him and I pull him inside,” Gonzalez said. He said that before he could drag Lopez inside, Mendez tried to pull him back outside again. Gonzalez said he shouted at her, “Hey, what happened, what happened?” and she ran off. The family lived in the back of the gated apartment complex in southeast Fresno, which has neat lawns, trees and a children’s playground. Neighbors said there was no indication of violence between the couple before Sunday’s shootings. “They would come out with the baby carriage, and the man was taking care of his children,” neighbor Eric Gonzalez said. Another neighbor said Monday residents were shaken by the shooting, and still struggling to comprehend what had happened. “It just really gets you thinking about how a mother could just grab her kids and kill them,” Lizeth Gonzalez, a mother of three small children who lives in the complex. “I never thought it would happen here. SMH at this story…and of course these people live in Florida: A 30-year-old Fort Myers woman was arrested on Saturday after admitting to Fort Myers Police officers that she gave a 1-year-old child drinks from an alcoholic beverage. Police say they received a call from a woman requesting assistance around 10:15 p.m. The woman disconnected the phone call quickly. When police called back, the woman stated there was “no emergency.” Officers were dispatched to the area and found a large group of people in front of a residence. Laqweeta Neal was identified as the woman who requested police. Neal told officers that her brother slapped her in the face and twisted her arm behind her head after she provided the child with a “sip” from wine coolers she had been consuming. Due to Neal’s admission that she provided a child with an alcoholic beverage, she was arrested and charged with child abuse. Neal’s brother, Rousheem Williams, was also arrested for the obvious injuries caused to Neal. He is charged with battery. Sheila Lederer, of Wellington, was arrested on two counts of child neglect. She was released from jail early this morning after posting $6,000 bond, records show. According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s probable cause affidavit, deputies went to Lederer’s house to conduct a welfare check on July 7. Before they arrived, Lederer called 911 saying there was someone hiding in her bushes. When the deputy arrived at her house, Lederer was screaming at a tree and said, “Get out of here,” the affidavit says. She told the deputy she was talking to the tree and the deputy told her, “the tree was unable to talk and that the tree was not a person.” Lederer then told the deputy to arrest her mailbox and tried to climb a bush while yelling that someone was sitting in the bushes spying on her. She then told the deputy she had taken the prescription drug, Xanax. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews came to evaluate her, and took her to Palms West Hospital in Loxahatchee where she was Baker Acted, the affidavit says. Before Lederer was transported, she told the deputy no one else was in her house. But the deputy noticed some children’s toys inside. He found a 15-year-old and a 1-year-old lying in bed. One of the children said that Lederer had been calling her the wrong name the whole week, and knew she had a drug problem.
