Rick Ross Talks ‘Window Seat’ Remix Video With Erykah Badu

‘We continuing where the first ‘Window Seat’ ended,’ Ross tells MTV News. By Shaheem Reid Erykah Badu bled the words “group think” in her critically acclaimed (but nonetheless controversial) “Window Seat” video , but that wasn’t the end of her journey. Badu recently shot a video for the “Window Seat” remix with Rick Ross . “I had to come get the queen,” Ross said about the video. “They had her boxed up.” The clip starts with Ross coming to get the Grammy-winning songstress from jail. “It was only right. I was swerving through Dallas in that Porsche Panorama turbo. I had to slide up on her, scoop her up. We got back to business. We went on another caper. “It’s basically, we continuing where the first ‘Window Seat’ ended,” he added. “Where she was assassinated and ultimately scooped up and arrested. We continuing from there. She’s got a dope cut on her album called ‘Get Money.’ Y’all need to download and check it out. It’s the next single. And it’s the bridge between the assassination, going into the ‘Window Seat’ remix, me doing my sh–. Then we ultimately going into ‘Get Money,’ which I feel is my favorite record off of [New Amerykah Part Two: Return of] the Ankh. ” Like she did in the original video, Badu came up with the concept and directed it with Creative Control as the cinematographers. “She most definitely is a super talented individual,” Ross said. “Of course she’s extremely beautiful. It’s hard to look into her eyes for too long. She’s so sweet. Just to see her creativity. She also directed the video along with her team. To see her vision, just to see her work ethic. She’s like me. We filming to the wee hours. It’s real big. She’s the definition of a strong woman. I’m proud for her to be a strong black woman, just to see her so hands-on with her career. From the producing of her music to the writing of her music. The entire process of her writing her entire album all the way down to directing her videos and editing. For me to be sitting here while she’s [filming the video], doing what she’s doing, the singing. And she’s also checking the angles. It was like, ‘Wow.’ I never knew that. I knew she was super talented and so hands-on and in charge of her entire project. She gets the ultimate boss look.” What do you think of the “Window Seat” remix with Ross? Rick Ross’ Albert Anastasia Is ‘Strictly For Teflon Don Lovers’

Mixtape is composed of ‘completely new music, new beats’ Ross says, in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: Akshay Bhansali The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive Big up to the homey, video director Spiff TV (Waka Flocka Flame’s “O Let’s Do It” remix and a slew of Rick Ross clips including “Rich Off Cocaine”). His close friend and manager Rick Ross may be doing huge-budgeted mini-movies with the likes of Diddy and director F. Gary Gray , but the Miami Bawse promises that he’ll never stop doing the straight-to-the-Net videos Spiff directed — videos that his fans have grown to love over the past couple of years. “Of course, man. You know we’ll never stop releasing those black-and-whites, those virals,” Ross explained. “We’re actually editing a slew of them right now. So get ready. … That’s just another way we bring [the music] to life. We add color to the situation. We really love to be a part of the music and the history.” “When I hear a dope Busta Rhymes record, I feel like that’s a part of history, and I want to be a part of that,” he added about his rampage of creating unofficial remixes by adding verses to singles like Drake’s “Find Your Love,” Rocko’s “Maybe” and Erykah Badu’s “Window Seat.” “I want to be a part of that music. I want to put a verse on that. I don’t look at it as every record I jump on or every record I do for someone as necessarily more shine. It’s not necessarily the case. It’s always being a part of that moment in time.” Thursday (May 27) is a huge moment in time as T.I. is slated to drop his F— a Mixtape and Ross is putting out his Albert Anastasia EP. Both are mixtapes and both are free for fans. Another thing both tapes have in common is that they are composed strictly of new music. “Of course not,” Ross answered about whether or not we would hear some of those unofficial remixes on the tape. “You mentioned ‘Window Seat.’ Shout out to the beautiful Erykah Badu, we got some things we’re working on too. But this new mixtape we’re releasing right before Memorial weekend, it’s gonna be completely new music, new beats. Dope street ideas. It’s strictly for the Teflon Don lovers. It’s strictly for everyone that’s excited for [the album’s release date] July 6.” One new track that also won’t make the cut for the Double A EP is the “Teflon Don Freestyle.” He’s not saving it for the album either. It’s just out there. “Nah, that ain’t gonna be on the album,” he said. “I got stuff that’s much more potent than that. It’s crazy the way I love that ‘Teflon Don’ freestyle. But it’s like, when I started writing it, it had the potential to be big. When I finished it, compared to other bodies of work, it wasn’t even worth me putting a chorus on it. I love it, and I feel that’s a part of my mixtape arrogance. It’s like it’s a gift. I know it’s dope and I know it would be a single on other albums. But this ain’t even gonna make the mixtape. Just for online. This is just for MTV, this is for the bloggers, this just for the people who can’t wait.” Albert Anastasia EP Track Listing According To The Maybach Music Group 1. Diddy Intro (produced by Infamous) 2. MC Hammer (produced by Lex Luger) 3. Blowin’ Money Fast (B.M.F.) (featuring Styles P, produced by Lex Luger) 4. Money Maker (produced by Boi-1da) 5. Rick Ross Drops ‘Super High’ Single With Ne-Yo

Ross’ next album, Teflon Don, arrives June 29. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: Rodrigo Varela/ Getty Images Rick Ross has announced June 29 as the release date for his new LP, Teflon Don. The rap heavyweight released the first official single for the set on Monday (April 12), “Super High.” The record is produced by beat legend Clark Kent and features Ross’ Def Jam labelmate Ne-Yo . The drums are smothered in ’70s soul funk, and Ne-Yo brings his Grammy-winning vocals to serenade the ladies and make the fellas jealous as he brags about his spoils. “All these cars, all these stars all around me/ … To the sky, that’s where you’ll find me.” “We doing it big, it’s going down at 11,” Ross raps. “I’m doing it big pulling up in the 911/ … Baby girl, it’s now or never/ Got the condo on the beach, so our storms we shall weather/ F— the marketing, look at what I’m accomplishing/ I’m beating n—as by margins bigger than Fran Tarkenton.” Later, Ne-Yo gets his own verse: “Women of a caliber you only see in magazines and calendars/ And I’m sitting with Miss October, because my birthday’s in October.” Ross has been on a rampage as of late, with highly touted verses on remixes by Diddy (“Angels”), Waka Flocka Flame (“O Let’s Do It”) and Erykah Badu (the unofficial “Window Seat” remix). Last year, Ross explained his Teflon Don album title to MTV News: “You gotta understand, I feel like I overcame so many things. Not only in music, but in my everyday life — being a young black man, being an entrepreneur, being a father. I learned a lot of things. I’m turning right around, putting it back into music. It’s still a lot of things I deal with. Still a lot of negativity. That’s what it is, and that’s why I feel the title of my next studio album is so appropriate.” Are you excited to hear more new Rick Ross music? What do you think about “Super High”? Erykah Badu Nude Stunt Recreates JFK Assassination

Singer Erykah Badu will be cited for disorderly conduct for getting naked in Dealey Plaza, the site of John F. Kennedy’s assassination, for her video for “Window Seat.” Just when you thought you’d heard every nude scandal imaginable. The Dallas Police Department announced Friday that “the statements from the witness would rise to the level of disorderly conduct,” Deputy Chief Mike Genovesi said. According to reports, a woman filed an indecency complaint after she and her two young kids witnessed Erykah Badu nude, filming a climactic scene in her video. But it got people talking about her when they otherwise might not be, right? Hmm. You know somewhere, Spencer Pratt is plotting a similar Heidi Montag nude stunt. BADU NEWS : Interestingly, it wasn’t the nudity that got her in trouble . “To shoot that, they would have had to get a special permit from the events office, and it would have had to specify what filming they were doing, what subjects they would use and any traffic control they would need,” Dallas Police officials said. “They definitely did not get a permit.” City authorities admit, however, that no one probably would have batted an eye about any of the violations (Class C misdemeanors) if Badu hadn’t gotten naked. “None of this would have occurred had she stayed clothed,” Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway said. “But since she didn’t, it elevated the need for making sure that we have policies in place that will protect folks and the integrity of the city.” Badu’s camp has not commented on the citation, but “Window Seat” directors Coodie and Chike said Badu was “ready to be arrested on the spot” last month. That would have made an even greater scene, so not surprising. This officially tops the Mindy McCready sex tape for oddest nudity-related story of the week.

Erykah Badu Charged For Nude ‘Window Seat’ Video

Singer has been cited for disorderly conduct after a video-shoot witness filed a complaint with Dallas police. By Josh Wigler Erykah Badu in her video for “Window Seat” Photo: Universal Motown R&B singer Erykah Badu is learning the hard way that the naked truth isn’t always such a good thing. Having made headlines throughout the past week for shooting a music video for “Window Seat” while completely in the buff, Badu has been charged with disorderly conduct after police officers in Dallas received a formal complaint over the nude shoot, TMZ reported Friday (April 2). According to the site, a Texas woman filed an indecency complaint with police officials after she and her mother witnessed Badu shooting the guerrilla-style video completely naked. Erykah Badu’s ‘Window Seat’: Shot By Shot Dallas Police Department Senior Corporal Janice Crowther spoke with MTV News earlier this week and revealed that Badu and her colleagues did not file an official permit requesting to shoot the “Window Seat” music video, which filmed near the same spot where President John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in Dealey Plaza in 1963. “They definitely did not get a permit,” Crowther said. “To shoot that video, they would have had to get a special-events permit from the events office, and it would have had to specify what type of filming they were doing, what subjects they would use and any traffic control they would need.” Indeed, directors Coodie and Chike of Creative Control revealed to MTV News that they did not seek out permits for the shoot and were well aware of potential attention from law-enforcement officials. Chike said Badu was fully prepared for the consequences. “We had bail money and everything,” Coodie said. “I think she really wanted to get arrested and even make a bigger message.” Do you think Badu should have been charged for her video shoot?
