Paris Hilton Arrested For Cocaine Possession

The star was busted in Las Vegas Friday night. By Mawuse Ziegbe Paris Hilton Photo: Getty Images Paris Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas Friday night for cocaine possession. Police found a small amount of the substance on the socialite and reality-TV starlet after cops pulled over a black Escalade driven by her boyfriend, according to The Associated Press. Officers stopped the SUV on the Las Vegas Boulevard after suspecting marijuana smoke was billowing from the vehicle and found the substance in the heiress’ purse. Hilton was booked into the Clark County Detention Center early Saturday, according to People, and later released without bail. Cy Waits, who is reportedly dating Hilton, was charged with driving under the influence and remained in custody Saturday morning awaiting a court appearance, the AP reports. Hilton was arrested on a felony cocaine possession charge and would likely receive probation if convicted. The star’s attorney, David Chesnoff, told the AP that he was still getting information about the situation, and added “I caution people not to rush to judgment.” The heiress tweeted early Saturday morning but didn’t appear to be shaken up by the incident. “In bed watching Family Guy. Love this show.! So hilarious! Stewie is my favorite 🙂 love his accent,” Hilton wrote around 6 a.m. “Going to bed. Sweet dreams everyone. Xoxo Paris :).” Hilton had another run-in with the law over alleged drug possession earlier this summer. The star was detained in South Africa at the World Cup for marijuana possession, but the case against Hilton was later dropped after officials learned that someone else in her group was smoking. The heiress has a history of getting in trouble for possessing substances and hitting the road. Hilton served 23 days in jail in 2007 for violating probation stemming from a 2006 DUI bust. Justin Timberlake To Voice A Gay Character On ‘The Cleveland Show’

Singer/actor will also portray a ‘singing booger’ on a February 2011 episode, Fox confirms to MTV News. By Mawuse Ziegbe Justin Timberlake Photo: Christian Petersen/ Getty Images Justin Timberlake has been steadily at work building his Hollywood career and will show off his acting chops once again in an upcoming episode of “Family Guy” spin-off “The Cleveland Show.” Fox reps confirmed to MTV News that Timberlake will voice two characters: Paul, the boyfriend of Terry (voiced by “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” actor Jason Sudeikis), as well as a “singing booger” belonging to Cleveland’s stepson Rallo, aptly named “Booger.” The episode is scheduled to air in February 2011. Timberlake is already earning rave reviews for his work as Paul. “Terry falls in love with a guy voiced by Justin,” “Cleveland” creator Rich Appel told Us Weekly. Appel added that Timberlake turns in a hilarious performance: “Justin is just hysterical!” Timberlake’s voice-over work is just the latest in a range of roles for the singer-turned-actor. He has reportedly been offered a role opposite Amanda Seyfried in the sci-flick “I’m.mortal,” in which people don’t get older than age 25. The singer has also been spotted filming the flick “Friends With Benefits” with Mila Kunis in New York and will hit the big screen in the David Fincher-helmed movie “The Social Network.” Timberlake plays Napster co-founder Sean Parker, who had a hand in the launch of the social-media phenomenon Facebook. Timberlake told MTV News last year that he was excited to work with Hollywood heavyweights Fincher and Aaron Sorkin on “The Social Network.” “To be honest, David Fincher is so ridiculously genius that we’re all just following his lead,” Timberlake said. “I think we want to tell the story, and I want to tell it through Sorkin’s words and Fincher’s eyes. I think Aaron did a lot of research on all of it. I don’t want to speak for another actor, but I think the consensus for all of us is that we just want to make a great film.” What are you expecting from Justin Timberlake’s “The Cleveland Show” appearance? ‘The Hills’ Musical Legacy: Natasha Bedingfield, Lady Gaga And More

Artists from Hilary Duff to Journey owe a debt to ‘Laguna Beach’ and its spin-off. By Kyle Anderson Lady Gaga on “The Hills” Photo: MTV Tuesday night (July 13) represents a huge moment in the history of MTV programming and reality television in general. After six seasons, “The Hills” is coming to a close with a two-hour grand-finale event, beginning at 8 p.m. on MTV. It has been a watershed program, as it first established the sort of hyper-real aesthetic that many reality shows (and a handful of fictional dramas) copied. But “The Hills” and its predecessor, “Laguna Beach,” also left their mark in the music world. Each of the shows had theme songs that helped spark massive career moves for the artists behind them. The theme song to “Laguna Beach” was Hilary Duff’s “Come Clean,” co-written by Kara DioGuardi and John Shanks. Though it originally appeared on Duff’s 2003 album, Metamorphosis, and was released as a single in early 2004, it really picked up steam once it accompanied the premiere of “Laguna Beach” in September of that year. It peaked at #9 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart and earned Duff a shortlist recommendation (though no actual nomination) for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards. “The Hills” theme song did even better by its artist. When Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” debuted as the tune that introduced the world to “The Hills” in May 2006, it stormed up the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #5. In fact, because of its crossover appeal, “Unwritten” became the most-played song on the radio in the United States in 2006. Not bad for a track that was originally released in 2004 on Bedingfield’s debut album of the same name. “The Hills” also gave the world some early exposure to Lady Gaga . Before Gaga’s debut album, The Fame, took over the airwaves, she performed at a fashion show where Conrad and friend Whitney Port styled her. Gaga was even the subject of a minor plot in that episode, as the zipper of her catsuit broke, forcing Conrad to repair it and save the day. But perhaps the most lasting musical legacy of “The Hills” is actually a moment from “Laguna Beach.” The second-season premiere of “Laguna Beach” (which aired in July 2005) featured a scene wherein castmember Stephen Colletti picks Conrad up for a date. The song playing in Stephen’s car during the scene? Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which had yet to receive its second renaissance thanks to the series finale of “The Sopranos” (which didn’t air until two years later). Exposure on “Laguna Beach” (along with its appearance on a “Family Guy” episode the same week) sent the track skyrocketing into the iTunes Top 10, an amazing feat for a song that was nearly 25 years old. What was your favorite musical moment from “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills”? Let us know in the comments! Join MTVNews.com on Tuesday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET for a live stream from the red carpet of Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel, where the stars will gather for “The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending.” Then tune in for the series finale at 10 p.m. ET on MTV and “The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending After Show” at 11. Newsweek Promotes Parent-Free Pill Access for Teens

Should it be easier for your teenage daughter to get birth control pills without your knowledge? One Newsweek contributor thinks so. In a July 7 op-ed , Meredith Melnick praised the “movement” to make the Pill more accessible by making it available over the counter, in part because it would remove parents from the equation. “ Teenagers are particularly vulnerable to access problems because it is harder for them to get to a doctor without a parent’s help,” Melnick said. “Almost 20 percent of sexually active teens who do not want to become pregnant are not using contraceptives, according to the Guttmacher Institute,” Melnick wrote. “And teenage girls who do not use contraception during their first sexual experience are twice as likely to become teen mothers as their counterparts who use protection.” Melnick did not inform readers that the Guttmacher Institute is affiliated with Planned Parenthood, a liberal pro-abortion organization. Melnick highlighted complaints that prescription-based access to birth control is “patronizing to women, limits contraceptive freedom, and is ineffective against intractably high teen-pregnancy rates.” But she never mentioned the fact that the pill does not protect against HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Melnick glossed over the side effects of birth control hormones, suggesting that an over-the-counter, progestin-only pill “might be safer to use” than so-called “combined” pills, which include progestin and estrogen. Melnick’s report and others like it, including June 21 New York Times op-ed Ibis Reproductive Health President Kelly Blanchard, have joined what has been a month-long media celebration of the 50 th anniversary of the Pill. Media outlets have used the anniversary to provide one-sided coverage of the Pill, promote more potent hormone contraceptives and criticize abstinence education .

ABC’s Jeremy Hubbard Hints at Conspiracy: Did Palins ‘Get to’ Levi Johnston and Make Him Recant?

[Video to appear shortly] World News Now co-host Jeremy Hubbard on Wednesday didn’t accept the explanation that Levi Johnston has simply decided to apologize for his bad mouthing of the Palin family. The ABC anchor hinted at darker reasons: ” You know, I’m a cynic. Did the Palins get to him, do you think? ” (H/T to Creative Minority ) Discussing Johnston’s public apology in People magazine, Hubbard began, “Did they sit him down and-” He broke off and didn’t finish the thought. What was Hubbard implying? The answer went unsaid.   This isn’t the first time World News Now, an overnight program that airs at 3am, has gone after Palin. On February 20, 2010 , Hubbard downplayed an episode of Family Guy making fun of the former governor and Trig, her child with Down’s Syndrome. He minimized, “Although there has been criticism, some Down’s Syndrome advocates have given half-hearted praise to the cartoon for including a well-rounded character dealing with the disability, which leads Palin detractors to ask: Is she overreacting?” A transcript of the brief segment, which aired at 4:20am EDT, follows: VINITA NAIR: Let’s talk about Levi Johnston. He is talking and people are listening, still. He’s talking in People magazine. And this is actually really different from what we’ve heard in the past. He says after six months of bad-mouthing the entire Palin family, he’s apologizing and hoping to thaw his icy relationship with them. Here’s a quote: “After Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately against my better judgment I publicly said things about the Palins that were completely not true.” He says he privately apologized to Sarah and hubby Todd but he didn’t mention how the two of them responded to all of this. But, keep in mind, he really sort of went on a tirade. He was on early morning shows saying, “I know huge things about her, things that could hurt her.” He also said there was talk of divorce between Sarah and Todd. But, now he’s saying, just kidding. JEREMY HUBBARD: You know, I’m a cynic. Did the Palins get to him, do you think? Did they sit him down and- Because there are rumors he and Bristol are back together. NAIR: Well, they did say they’re going to plan on co-parenting the baby together now. So they obviously have a working relationship if they’re willing to do that. HUBBARD: Wow, interesting. Didn’t see that development coming. NAIR: No, I did see the development of him continuing to talk coming though. HUBBARD: Wonder if he apologized for the Playgirl thing?

Lady Gaga Surpasses President Obama In Facebook Fans

Fame singer will be first living person to pass 10 million mark on the social networking site. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: Getty Images President Obama, Starbucks, “House,” “Twilight” and “South Park.” What do all of these things have in common? As of Friday, they all had fewer Facebook fans than Lady Gaga . According to the British social network statistics site Famecount.com , Gaga is on the verge of becoming the first living person to roll up 10 million Facebook fans. As of press time on Friday (July 2), she surpassed the only other living person on the list who had exceeded her tally: President Obama. Gaga’s fan count reached 9,940,462 to the leader of the free world’s 9,444,942. She also continues to spank Obama in Twitter followers (4,762,938 to 4,422,923) and YouTube subscribers (311,716 to 191,562). The singer, who never misses a chance to shout out her rabid fanbase of “little monsters,” is also miles ahead of other living celebs on the list when it comes to Facebook followers, including Britney Spears (3.1 million), Ashton Kutcher (3.6 million), Taylor Swift (5.8 million), Selena Gomez (5.2 million) and even Justin Bieber (5.9 million). But she still can’t hold a candle to the King of Pop. Among musical acts, only the late Michael Jackson’s Facebook fans list is more massive than Gaga’s. As of press time, the only other Facebook pages to top Gaga’s were for Texas Hold ‘Em Poker (20 million), Jackson (14.1 million), the online game “Mafia Wars” (12.7 million), “Family Guy” (10.1 million) and Facebook itself (10.7 million). Other entities that are surprisingly further down on the friends count list than Gaga?: “Twilight” (7.1 million), “South Park” (6.5 million), Coke (6.1 million), Lil Wayne (5.9 million) and, yes, Skittles candy (5.5 million). Gaga’s upsurge this week on Facebook might have something to do with her cover story in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, in which she provides the most intriguing peek yet into her closely guarded private life. In addition to the bombshell interview with former Afghan war General Stanley McChrystal, the Gaga feature has helped to propel the magazine’s newsstand sales to twice what it usually does. Are you a Facebook fan of Gaga’s? What do you think of her passing President Obama in total friends? Tell us in the comments! Futurama Returns Because It "Was Too Good to Die"

In what may be the most anticipated animated return to television since Family Guy, Futurama finally debuts brand new episodes on Comedy Central (Thursday, 10/9c). Watch full episodes of Futurama “In my heart of hearts, I knew this show was too good to die,” says Billy West, who actually sounds like an older version of Fry, the character he voices on the animated series. “The amount of times the show has been revived from the dead is unbelievable. I love working on zombie Futurama,” jokes John DiMaggio, who plays Bender. There was a moment, though, when it seemed Futurama would be up-ended after a salary negotiation snag last summer. Fortunately, the core cast is returning, and Katey Sagal insists it was “just one of those things that happen” in Hollywood. added by: lordsbassman
