This really isn’t very complicated, high school students of America: Do your best not to spell out really racist words at a class event and never the sport the kind of attire made famous by the country’s most infamous hate group. Unfortunately, seven boys at Mound Westonka High School in Minnesota were unable to abide by this second recommendation last Wednesday, as they donned garb for a dodgeball match that looked an awful lot like the sort of thing worn by members of the Ku Klux Klan. This may not have been their intention… but just take a look at the shirts and white bandanas being worn in the photos above and below. “I turned around, and the team behind me looked like they came in with a Ku Klux Klan uniform, or an interpretation of it,” senior Ryan Anderson told WCCO, the local CBS affiliate. “It was something to say the least.” The event was supervised by teachers and administrators, none of whom took any action during the game. But the district then received complaints after images were shared on social media. “Anybody who is well-versed in history can know that anyone with a pointed white hat is trying to symbolize the KKK,” a parent who asked to remain anonymous told KMSP. “There are not a lot of other organizations that can be confused with.” We’d have to agree. The district says that “appropriate action will be taken in accordance with district policy” if its investigation turns up anything worthy of punishment. For whatever it may be worth, the school’s population is 93 percent white, 3 percent Hispanic, 2 percent African-American and 2 percent Asian, according to The Washington Post. We already knew Anna Kendrick is awesome , and we figured Grease: Live would be pretty cool, but we had no idea how fabulous the combination of those two things could be. No, Kendrick didn’t take the stage to hand-jive with the rest of the cast (except in our dreams), but she did live-tweet the entire broadcast, and her critiques are as hilariously NSFW as you could hope. Kendrick’s live tweets are always a joy, but she was particularly on point last night. Reclusive celebrity Rob Kardashian reportedly wants back on reality TV … but with new flame Blac Chyna, not his famous family. Somehow we don’t see Momager Kris taking kindly to this … According to TMZ insiders, Rob wants to do a show about his life with Blac Chyna, chronicling day-to-day times with his family’s mortal enemy. The lovebirds are shacking up and are going to be living together for a long time, the site reports, so logistically it would make sense. As we reported last week, Khloe Kardashian kicked Rob out of her house after returning from a business trip finding him with Blac. Despite his family’s rage and everyone believing that he’s spiting them, being played or both, Rob insists he loves Chyna for Chyna. He certainly proved it this weekend, driving to Texas to rescue Blac from jail after she was arrested for causing a drunken scene at the Austin airport. Yes, Texas. From L.A. If that’s not true romance, what is? As for why Rob, who has battled diabetes, depression and anxiety, and has basically been a hermit for years, wants back on television? It’s how the dude knows to make a living. Simple as that. Now, as for whether a Blac-Rob reality show would be feasible contractually, given his obvious ties to the Kardashian TV franchise? Not surprisingly, the E! Network has the right of first refusal to any program he might want to do, but he’s not barred from going elsewhere. Kris Jenner has major pull at E! and could 100 percent shut him down there, but if they pass, he could theoretically shop this around. His mom might hire a hit man before she lets that happen – clearly Kris’ bid to “save” him from Chyna didn’t work – but legally, it’s doable. As for whether there’s an audience for this project? Who’s to say, but given the interest in the Saga of Rob and Chyna, it would probably garner a lot of interest if they moved on it ASAP. Just saying. We’d tune in at least for the premiere. According to my sources, Ariel Winter had her 18th birthday yesterday. And I’m sure that’s big news for anybody out there who still watches Modern Family . You can finally stop fast-forwarding through her scenes and watch them in slo-mo instead. Or even go frame by frame if they’re in a trampoline store or something. To be honest though, that show really went downhill ever since they ignored my suggestion to set an episode (or episodes) at a Jello wrestling tournament. Oh well. Cuba Gooding Jr. Wishes Goldman/Brown Families Peace Don’t know about y’all but we are kinda hype to see The People v. O.J. Simpson when it premieres Tuesday — but we didn’t realize creators of the mini-series never reached out to the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman until reading about how they have publicly expressed being uncomfortable about not being included in the making of the show. Apparently Cuba Gooding Jr. has heard those concerns and is doing his part to assure the project he signed on to star in maintains a high level of integrity. Via E!Online reports: “I just hope that they find some peace because I can’t imagine what they’re going through,” he says when asked if there’s anything he’d like to tell the families. “You know, when I signed on to this project, it was because Ryan Murphy was doing it and I want to work with real filmmakers and that first and foremost was my reasoning for accepting this role. Prior to this offering, I had an offer to do a film based on O.J.’s innocence and I passed. So, here I am. So, I don’t pretend to try to understand what any of this means to either the Goldmans or the Browns, but I’m an actor. I was asked to do a role. Hopefully I brought some truth to it and that will help in the process of understanding the circus that was this time in America.” He adds that the goal was to use their considerable talents to faithfully present the lives of those caught up in the media circus surrounding the case to this new generation. “I want people to know that we had the best intentions to bring our artistry to the lives and the events surrounding that trial and the personalities that were surrounding it as well,” Gooding says. It turns out the series used Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson as the series’ main source material, which is why the family wasn’t contacted by Ryan Murphy and his team. The People v. O.J. Simpson premieres Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 10 p.m. on FX.
