Gucci Mane Denied Early Release, Hit With Civil Suit

Rapper offered to perform at a women’s shelter in exchange for a reduction in his sentence. By Alvin Blanco Gucci Mane Photo: Atlantic Records Any early welcome-home parties for Gucci Mane need to be put on hold. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the “Wasted” rapper’s attempt to have his jail sentence reduced in half was denied Friday (October 28) by DeKalb State Court Judge Eleanor Ross. Gucci (born Radric Davis) is currently serving a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of reckless conduct and one count of disorderly conduct for pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle back in January. After picking up a woman at the South Dekalb Mall under the pretense of going to breakfast, Gucci instead invited her to a tryst at a hotel. Gucci allegedly pushed the woman out of his Hummer when she refused his advances and asked to be driven back to the mall. Gucci wasn’t arrested for the incident until April and was sentenced in September. On Friday, Gucci’s lawyer suggested that his client would hold a concert to benefit the DeKalb County Battered Women’s Shelter in exchange for a reduction in his sentence. Judge Ross’ response: “I don’t think it would be appropriate to let him out just because he’s a rapper.” That wasn’t the end of Gucci’s bad news for the day: Moments after having his motion for a reduced sentence denied, he learned that he was also facing a civil suit from the victim, who identified him by the tattoo of an ice-cream cone on his face. In August, Gucci released Ferrari Boyz, a collaborative album with fellow 1017 Brick Squad member Waka Flocka Flame. Last week, Waka tweeted , “Gucci home,” leading many to believe Gucci had been released early. Upon his actual release, Gucci will be required to complete 12 weeks of anger management courses and pay $5,091 to cover the victim’s medical bills and a $3,000 fine. Related Artists Gucci Mane

French Montana Plans Throne-Style LP With Waka Flocka

French tells Mixtape Daily the joint album will drop in five weeks. By Rob Markman French Montana Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: French Montana Don’t expect rap’s tag-team trend to die anytime soon. In its first week, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne moved more than 430,000 copies and snagged the #1 spot on the Billboard albums chart. Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame also charted, selling more than 16,000 copies of their Ferrari Boyz LP. New York City’s French Montana is up next. “I got an album coming out with me and Waka. It’s called Lock Out. It’s gonna be out in five weeks,” French told Mixtape Daily of his new project. “The first single is called ‘I Want It.’ It’s crazy. It’s some crunk, like some ‘Choppa Down,’ but on steroids.” French rose to prominence in an unconventional way, first by creating the “Cocaine City” street DVD series, in which he showcased his music and the music of others. He has since collaborated with Akon, Max B, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, making a name for himself in rap’s underground. Last year, Montana dropped “Choppa Down” with Waka, and now his current single, “Shot Caller,” is heating up the streets. While he isn’t currently signed, the former Konvict Music MC is planning the release of his debut LP. “I got that Excuse My French joint — it’s coming like late this year or early next year — but for now I’m just doing the street album,” he said before talking about the different contracts being thrown his way. “I ain’t gonna let the cat out the bag, but it’s about seven labels right now. So we’re just workin’, lookin’ for the best one.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Related Artists French Montana Waka Flocka Flame

Kristin Cavallari: Smothered By Jay Cutler?

Jay Cutler does a mediocre job calling the shots on the football field. Off the gridiron, however, he was incredibly good at controlling Kristin Cavallari. The Bears quarterback smothering the former Hills star was one of the things that caused their relationship to unravel, according to a new report . A friend of Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler , who knew the couple and spent time with them socially, says he made things difficult for his fiancee. The two called off their engagement this weekend. Says the source of the now-former couple: “Jay Cutler was beyond controlling and didn’t really like Kristin to go out,” the friend says. “When she did go out, he would call all the time, demanding to know exactly where she was going and who she was with.” “He always made her choose between being with him and being friends with a lot of her girlfriends. I’m not surprised it didn’t last.” Cavallari and Cutler, 24 and 28 respectively, were first linked last summer. They had been planning a wedding for next spring, and Kristin is said to be “absolutely devastated” after the football star broke up with her.
