The world wasn’t ready for screenwriter Joe Eszterhas ‘ last major skinema sinsation, Showgirls , when it debuted in 1995- though we absolutely love the movie here at Skin Central, we can’t deny that it pretty much killed Eszterhas’ Hollywood career. Now the randy writer of Mr. Skin Nudity Hall of Fame films like Basic Instinct and Jade is mounting a comeback with his new script, the titillatingly titled Lust . Lust centers on a beautiful 30-year-old woman married to a much older fashion magazine publisher. On a business trip to Los Angeles, our heroine meets a much younger playboy who makes her forget all about those pesky marriage vows… Hollywood has seen a huge decline in R-rated erotic thrillers since Eszterhas’ heyday in the early 90’s, leaving a gaping, PG-13 hole where the bush of A-list actresses like Sharon Stone should be. So when Eszterhas and The Lincoln Lawyer producer Scott Steindorff go to the Cannes Film Festival next month to shop around their script, we’re really hoping someone in Tinseltown will bite. Because with a name like Lust, it’s got to be nude! Check out the breast nude scenes from films written by Joe Eszterhas, including Basic Instinct , Showgirls , Jade , Flashdance , Jagged Edge , and more right here on MrSkin.com!
Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal said that David O. Russell is considering directing an adaptation of former Providence mayor Buddy Cianci’s book Politics and Pasta , which follows the author’s years of busting mobsters and landing in jail on racketeering charges. Could Rosenthal partner Robert De Niro, who reportedly made a deal with Cianci back in 2008 and may appear in Russell’s Uncharted , help seal the deal — and, perhaps, star as the notorious politician?
The band’s June jaunt will follow their vintage rail car tour of the U.S. kicking off in April. By James Montgomery Mumford & Sons Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Mumford & Sons are perhaps the most unconventional British act to break through in the States in quite some time, so it made sense when they announced an equally unconventional Railroad Revival Tour last month. That jaunt will see them, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show travel from show to show (and slowly through the Southwest) using only vintage trains … a nod to the barnstorming days of old. And, in an age of mobile-phone-sponsored mega-tours, it is a rather unique idea, to say the very least. Of course, their fans responded to the news quickly, and since most of the Railroad Revival dates are already sold out, Mumford have announced another run of U.S. shows, though these are of the more traditional variety (i.e., they will not be traveling via the power of the locomotive). Their new tour kicks off June 3 in Kansas City, Missouri, and runs until June 16, when they’ll conclude a two-night stand at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver. Support for the trek will come from a number of bands, including Matthew & the Atlas, Nathaniel Rateliff, Cake and the Low Anthem. Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday, April 8, through Mumford’s official site . Mumford’s Railroad Revival Tour gets under way April 21 in Oakland, California, and wraps on April 27 in New Orleans. On April 13, the band will be in New York to film an episode of VH1’s “Unplugged,” and they’ll play the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 16, along with the likes of Kanye West, the Kings of Leon and the Arcade Fire. ‘[Max and AN21] are going to finish their album, I’m going to do music, and I’m going to sleep!’ Angello tells MTV News of no-nonsense tour. By Adam Stewart Steve Angello Photo: MTV News The wave of success Size Records has been riding hit the pavement last month in the form of a huge motor coach touring the country. For one of the hottest labels in dance music, the multi-city Size Matters Tour formally kicked off back on March 22 at Fontainebleau’s LIV nightclub — the first in a series of massive Miami Music Week parties at the swanky venue. But the bus didn’t truly hit the road until a week later, when all the Miami madness had subsided. Now that Steve Angello, AN21 and Max Vangeli are done frolicking in the Sunshine State, things are about to get real. “Oh, they’re going to sleep at 8 p.m.,” Angello told MTV News. “[And] they’re going to wake up at 7 [a.m.]. They’re going to run next to the bus, [and] I’m going to keep them in shape!” “I’m already scared,” Vangeli told us in a separate interview. “I’m really scared!” AN21 added. It seems as if big brother has instilled the fear of God in the youngsters, who tell us they are as far as 13 or 14 tracks into their highly anticipated album, set for completion this year. Moreover, for the first time in what seems like ages, brothers Steve and AN21 will have a chance to sit down along with Max and finish up a track that the three have been working on for some time. “We have a track that we’ve actually been working on with Steve for, like, six months — maybe even longer,” AN21 said. “It’s so hard to finish it, because he’s always on the road or working on other things or we’re always on the road, so now we have his undivided attention [for] three weeks, so we’re going to finish something.” “It’s going to be work mode,” Angello said. “[Max and AN21] are going to finish their album, I’m going to do music, and I’m going to sleep!” There’s no denying that Angello means business. But we all know how the Swedes and their pals like to have a good time, so we had to ask the man in charge if there is any chance of the bus turning into a frat house on wheels. “There’s not going to be any alcohol on the bus — whatsoever!” Angello told us with an “I’m not kidding” look. “I heard from sources that if I bring one beer on the bus, [Steve]’s kicking me off,” Vangeli confirmed. “But I’m allowed to have two beers per week,” AN21 added with a smirk. “Maybe three!” “We have a lot of stuff to do [and] to work on, so it’s good,” Max added of the rules. “It was the same way in L.A. when we were working in the studio. Everyone was like, ‘Oh, guys, come out for the night!’ [but] Steve was like, ‘You finish your work and then you go!’ ” Even though we’re certain Angello’s no-nonsense rules might be bent just a tad, the packed schedule the gang has ahead of them certainly doesn’t leave much wiggle room for anything else. Having already logged miles with stops in Orlando, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Montreal, Toronto and Vegas, the Size Matters Tour hits up the Midwest on its next leg starting Tuesday night (April 5) in Columbus, Ohio, before a West Coast stint that ultimately rounds out the U.S. leg of the tour at Coachella on April 16. And then, of course, comes their slew of European dates, which take them out toward the end of summer. There’s certainly no rest for rest for this hard-hitting crew, but for Angello, it’s a much-needed change of pace. “You know, friends are jumping on [the bus] and coming off,” he said. “Different friends are joining me in different cities. It’s going to be fun, it’s a break of airports. I just need something else!” Will you check out the Size Matters Tour when it comes to your town? Let us know in the comments below! ‘Good story, good plot — but let’s get some good kung fu going!’ he tells MTV News of the film, which he plans to direct. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Keanu Reeves Photo: MTV News While Keanu Reeves pushes forward with work on “47 Ronin,” his samurai- and ninja-filled revenge story, he’s also trying to get another martial-arts film off the ground — and this one he wants to direct himself. The 46-year-old actor first told us about the project at the Toronto Film Festival last fall, but when we caught up with him recently as he promoted the indie comedy “Henry’s Crime,” Reeves spilled some additional details. “It’s called ‘Man of Tai Chi,’ ” he said. “We want to do it in Chinese and English, do it as kind of a co-production with CFG perhaps, which is a Chinese film group, kind of a studio. It’s tricky. “I would play the villain,” he added of the story, which would be set in the modern day but pay homage to kung fu films of the past. Though Reeves and his partners haven’t yet bankrolled the production, they’ve got a script in place — one that will contain a ridiculous amount of fighting. “There’s 18 fights. We’ve timed it out. It’s about 40 minutes of fighting,” he said. “I want to make a good, solid kung fu movie. Good story, good plot — but let’s get some good kung fu going!” While Reeves waits for financing to come together, he’s gearing up to shoot “47 Ronin” in 3-D . “I call it a story of revenge and impossible love,” he said. “The samurai become outcast and decide to enact revenge on the person who is responsible for the death of their lord.” Check out everything we’ve got on “47 Ronin.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . McKenzie had small roles in first and third ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies. By Gil Kaufman Bret McKenzie Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Gettu Images It’s “Business Time” for Bret McKenzie. After showing up briefly as an extra in the first and third “Lord of the Rings” movies, the “Flight of the Conchords” co-star has joined the sprawling cast of Peter Jackson’s “Hobbit” prequels. And the New Zealand native won’t have to travel far, since once again Jackson has set up shop in his home country for the films, which began filming two weeks ago. Variety reported that McKenzie will play the role of Lindir, an elf of Rivendell, in the 3-D films, which will be shot over the next 14 months at a studio in Wellington and other locations around New Zealand. McKenzie joins a cast that already features Martin Freeman in the lead role of Bilbo Baggins, as well as returning “Rings” vets Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett and Andy Serkis . “The Hobbit” is set 60 years before “LOTR” and follows the adventures of humble hobbit Bilbo, who rises to heroic stature as he leads a group of fellow dwarves on an epic journey to reclaim a treasure from the dragon Smaug. With the “Conchords” on permanent hiatus after wrapping their second season of the show on HBO in 2009, McKenzie was freed up to join the “Hobbit” cast. Some movie sites have already begun speculating that given his higher profile now, McKenzie may have a beefier part than the three seconds of screen time he had in “The Fellowship of the Ring” during the Council of Elrond. After that appearance, fans began referring to his character as “Figwit,” which stands for “Frodo is great … who is that?” McKenzie’s wife, Hannah, even made a short documentary about the Figwit phenomenon that she submitted to the Auckland International Film Festival in 2004. The “Conchords” also paid homage to McKenzie’s star turn in season one with the song “Frodo, Don’t Wear the Ring.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘It’s a track I designed just for my shows,’ DJ/producer tells MTV News of the Miami Music Week banger. By Adam Stewart Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell Photo: MTV News After a tremendous showing during this year’s Miami Music Week, both as a solo artist and with his Scandinavian brethren in Swedish House Mafia, Axwell released his long-awaited solo track “Heart Is King” on Monday (April 4). Axwell’s fans — and MTV News — have had their eyes and ears peeled for this latest release since he first teased a crowd with it at the Montreux Sundance – Electronic Music Festival in Switzerland last May. The new track is classic big-room Axwell, garnished with spine-tingling strings and a driving, progressive riff. “It’s kind of a neo-classical type of thing,” Axwell told MTV News when we caught up with him in Miami. “It’s a little like filtered house, and it has this break, [and] a pretty classical type of melody. There’s no vocal or anything. It’s just like a track I wanted to get out there, something I wanted to get off of my chest for a while. It’s a track I designed just for my shows, and [especially] when it’s a big show.” “Heart Is King” got a series of live plays at MMW’s biggest shows, including Axwell’s solo night at LIV, Swedish House Mafia’s Masquerade Motel: One Night Stand and Steve Angello’s Size Matters showcase, which closed out Beatport Beach. And it was without question one of the week’s biggest tracks, eliciting roars from the crowd each time it dropped. Of course, Axwell has a reputation for bringing it big, and his latest cut is right up there in epic-ness with the other songs from his extensive catalog like “Feel the Vibe” and “Nothing but Love.” “Heart” is likely to be just the first of a slew of major Miami tracks to come out of the SHM camp, joining Tim Mason’s “The Moment” (set for an April 6 release on Angello’s Size imprint) and the trio’s new single “Save the World,” whose release date has yet to be announced. All of the new tracks coming from the Swedes and their signees incorporate innovative sounds that vibe with the ever-morphing house-music flavor. As demonstrated on “Heart Is King,” Axwell keeps the music fresh but also skillfully harnesses other genres. “There will always be certain subgenres coming up and down,” he said. “But at the end of the day, it’s all about the love and the house music and just bringing it! People always come back to mama. They go around, venture around — dubstep, tribal, drum and bass. At the end of the night, when they wanna come home? They come back to house!” Fans can download the track at Beatport.com . Did you get to hear Axwell’s “Heart Is King” live in Miami? Let us know what you think in the comments below! ‘I believe the writers are six weeks away from a draft,’ Reeves tells MTV News of script for slacker sequel. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Keanu Reeves Photo: MTV News Let’s travel back in time to September 2010 and the Toronto Film Festival, when Keanu Reeves told us he was most certainly not joking about jump-starting a third “Bill and Ted” movie — 20 years after the last one hit theaters. In fact, he said, original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon were “going to try and see if they can write something.” Flash-forward to the present day and a most excellent update on their progress, which Reeves kicked to us while promoting his indie comedy “Henry’s Crime.” “I believe the writers are six weeks away from a draft,” he said on Monday (April 4), adding with a laugh, “No pressure, guys!” Back in September, Reeves dished nothing but wacky jokes about what the project might actually look like — a 3-D black-and-white sequel co-directed by Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and Werner Herzog? — but this time around the 46-year-old actor gave us some meaty clues about the film’s potential plot (albeit with a few caveats). “I know a little bit. But I don’t know — the fellas went off and cooked it up,” he explained. “I don’t know what happened when they put the elements together.” That said, Reeves went on to describe how the story arc might fit into the overall franchise mythology. “When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened,” he said. “So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back,” he added before trailing off. So it seems that “Bill and Ted 3” (or whatever it ends up being called) will focus on the Wyld Stallyns’s attempts to live up to the hype that Rufus (George Carlin) first revealed in the 1989 original. Perhaps they’re running out of time. After all, Bill (Alex Winter) and Reeves’ Ted will be approaching 50 in the third film, a prospect that had Reeves laughing, “That’s pretty excellent!” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
