Know Your David O. Russell Projects That Will Probably Never Happen

More than six years passed between the releases of I Heart Huckabees and The Fighter , and it appears that David O. Russell is planning to make up for that lost time… with extreme prejudice. Since last October, the Oscar-nominated director has seen his name attached to no less than five projects, and the likelihood of them all happening with Russell in the director’s chair seems remote. However! Which has the best chance of going through as planned? Movieline investigates after the jump.

SNL Scorecard: Did a Slew of Cameos Save Elton John’s Show?

What an odd night. Then again, when Elton John was announced as Saturday Night Live ‘s musical guest and host, perhaps an “odd night” should have been expected. But not quite like this.

Weekend Receipts: Hop Pops Up At Number One, Source Code Takes Second Place

Despite the star pedigree of Jake Gyllenhaal and the geek cred of director Duncan Jones, sci-fi thriller Source Code was topped by an animated bunny learning the new true meaning of Christmas Easter. At third place was the haunted house scare-em-up Insidious , possibly launching another profitable franchise for the brains behind Saw . Plus, the hotly debated Sucker Punch fell an astronomical 68.1% from last week — if those number hold, it means it held up slightly better in its second weekend than Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li (-68.5%) but not as well as Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (-67.9%). Your weekend receipts are here.

Cheek Peek: Natalie Portman’s Thong in Your Highness [PICS, VIDEO]

Natalie Portman will be bringing the crazy tomorrow when her Oscar-winning film Black Swan comes to DVD, but we’re far more excited about Natalie bringing the sexy in the upcoming comedy Your Highness . Natalie plays hard-as-nails warrior Isabel in this bizarre blend of stoner comedy and medieval epic, but she shows her softer (back) side bathing in a thong in one glorious scene. The new restricted trailer for Your Highness features more nudity than your average PG-13 action epic, with a longer look at Natalie’s seat meat and some mam orable topless nymphs: Skinterestingly, Natale’s butt was virtually clad in CGI bikini bottoms in the “general audiences” trailer, confirming that this nubile nymph is just too hot for general consumption. Test your mettle with stills of Natalie’s bethonged backside after the jump!

Amy Adams Cast as Lois Lane in Superman: Man of Steel

Insiders behind the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel have confirmed that gorgeous ginger Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in the franchise reboot, which will be shooting in Chicago this summer. Director Zack Snyder said in an interview with the LA Times that Lois Lane was a “linchpin” to the film and that the Depression-era character would be updated for 2012, adding: “There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.” Hopefully by “updated” Snyder means “nude”, not its other, dreaded code meaning, “packed with bad CGI effects.” Details are still sketchy on the plot of Superman: Man of Steel , but Adams, who has played both tough (as the athletic Charlene in The Fighter ) and na

Foo Fighters Slam ‘Glee’ Creator Ryan Murphy

‘F— that guy for thinking everybody should want to do ‘Glee,’ ‘ Dave Grohl says. By Jocelyn Vena Dave Grohl Photo: Gareth Cattermole/ Getty Images The Foo Fighters are the latest rock stars taking aim at “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy. In a new interview, Dave Grohl says that Murphy shouldn’t complain when bands don’t want to include their music on his hit Fox show. The “Glee” creator has butted heads with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and had an epic war of words with Kings of Leon . Now the Foos are speaking out. “It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f—ing ‘Glee,'” Grohl told The Hollywood Reporter. “And then the guy who created ‘Glee’ is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f—ing show. … F— that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do ‘Glee.’ … I watched 10 minutes. It’s not my thing.” The band’s frontman isn’t the only Fighter who isn’t into the show. Drummer Taylor Hawkins feels the same as his bandmate. “The ‘Glee’ guy, what a f—ing jerk. Slash was the first one. He wanted to do Guns N’ Roses and Slash is like, ‘I hate f—ing musicals. It’s worse than “Grease.” ‘ Then [Murphy’s] like, ‘Well, of course he’d say that, he’s a washed-up ol’ rock star, that’s what they f—ing do.’ And then Kings of Leon say, ‘No, we don’t want to be on your show.’ And then he’s like, ‘Snotty little assholes.’ And it’s just like, dude, maybe not everyone loves ‘Glee,’ ” Hawkins said. “Me included. … Yeah, f— that sh–.” Related Artists Foo Fighters

GALLERY: The Fighter, and the Best and Worst of Mark Wahlberg

While his castmates Amy Adams, Christian Bale, and Melissa Leo got Oscar nominations for their roles in The Fighter (out this week in a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack from Paramount Home Entertainment) — with the latter two winning the trophy — Mark Wahlberg’s performance went unheralded. (He did, however, share in the film’s Best Picture nod as one of its producers.) But given the larger-than-life quality that Bale and Leo, in particular, brought to their roles, it seemed like an intentional call on the part of Wahlberg and director David O. Russell to let Wahlberg’s on-screen personality recede a bit so the spotlight could shine elsewhere. Still, he’s just fine in the film, and it inspired me to think of the sublime (and the ridiculous) turns he’s had elsewhere — and no, we’re not counting The Marky Mark Workout in either category.
