Dame Dash Turning Himself In To Cops Over Child Support Warrants [Video]

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Dame Dash will be turning himself in to NYPD, but he swears he is innocent. The Roc-a-fella Records co-founder has warrants due to outstanding child support payments, but he swears he’s paid up. Reports TMZ : The rap mogul tells TMZ … he’ll surrender to authorities in NYC nearly 3 years after a family court judge first signed a warrant for his arrest. Damon’s accused of owing nearly $400k in support to Cindy Morales, mother of his son, Lucky — and to his ex-wife, Rachel Roy, with whom he has daughters Ava and Tallulah. Dame says the warrants are BS because he’s given both women more than enough dough — including $150k he gave Cindy for a home. He also claims Rachel draws her payments directly from his share of Rachel Roy Collection … the clothing company they co-own. Interestingly, news recently broke that Dash was attempting to re-purchase Roy’s clothing label . However, he’s also getting sued for a movie he produced by the author of the book the film is based on. As for the warrants, Dash explained the struggle to TMZ, and claims he has the receipts that prove he pad. But he’s sick of not being able to travel to NYC and his “name being compromised” so he’ll be turning himself in. Watch below. — Photo: Getty

The Ending To ‘The Notebook’ Was Noticeably Less Tragic When It Hit Netflix UK…And Fans Are Pissed

Excerpt from:

Source: KMazur / Getty Uh oh, they done did it now. Fans of The Notebook are vexed with Netflix UK after the online streaming service changed the ending of the classic romance-drama. Starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, viewers followed the story of a poor young man and rich girl as they fell in love but eventually got separated due to differences in social standing. In the original version, Gosling and McAdams’ characters, Noah and Allie die in bed together—but when it became available for streaming on Netflix UK, the final scenes were noticeably different . In Netflix UK’s version, Noah and Allie are very much alive while lying down in bed…and then the film cuts to a scene of birds flying over a lake. Heartbroken Twitter felt all kinds of ways—most fans seemed annoyed, while others defended the ending, saying it was much more similar to the actual ending in Nicholas Spark’s novel. Hit the flip to see what folks had to say, but first Netflix has since responded to all the backlash, saying that 1). They didn’t edit the film; 2). The alternate version already existed and was given to them; 3). They are getting to the bottom of it and hilariously, 4). “Apparently some films have more than one ending?!” Ha. Things you should know… – we did not edit the notebook – an alternate version exists and was supplied to us – we are getting to the bottom of it asap – apparently some films have more than one ending?! — Netflix UK & Ireland (@NetflixUK) February 27, 2019

No Chill: Twitter Hilariously Slams ‘Green Book’ By Comparing It To “Non-Racist” White People

Visit link:

Source: Frazer Harrison / Getty It’s that time of year again when the post-Oscar buzz either has you on a big high, or it has you highly pissed off. Sadly, when it comes to representation for Black people, the latter usually happens more than the former. At this year’s Oscars, however, there were some notable wins for Black people. Black Panther swept some important technical awards with Ruth E. Carter winning for Best Costume Design and Hannah Beachler  winning for Best Production Design, making them the first Black women to win in either category. Regina King also won Best Supporting Actress for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk while Mahershala Ali snagged the gold statue for his supporting role in Green Book. Add a Best Adapted Screenplay win for Spike Lee , and Black people are winning, right?! Meh. When time came around for the Best Picture announcement, many people were surprised or just plain outraged when Green Book took home the gold. A lot of folks took their pain out on Twitter in the most hilarious way. But before we get to that, if you haven’t seen or heard of Green Book, the movie based on real characters has developed quite a notorious reputation. Although Mahershala’s performance in the movie was praised, the flick centers around Bronx-bred racist Tony Lip (played by Viggo Mortensen), who serves as the tour driver for acclaimed musician Dr. Don Shirley (played by Ali). The movie explores race relations on a very shallow level, with Lip being portrayed as a White savior who defends Shirley from Southern White racists and introduces him to things like fried chicken and Little Richard …as if Shirley, a Black musician, couldn’t have possibly had fried chicken or heard of Little Richard.   Regardless if certain scenes were true or not, the movie painted Lip as a regular working-class White man who just happened to have some prejudices. More importantly, we should sympathize with him because he’s supposedly less racist than the Southern racist caricatures that we’re all-too familiar with in movies. Many people slammed this one-note approach to race relations with shows like Late Night with Seth Meyers and Desus & Mero making parodies of the movie.     The family members of the real-life Dr. Shirley also dragged the film with Shirley’s younger brother Maurice Shirley labeling the movie a “symphony of lies,” according to Shadow and Act . The title of the movie wasn’t even appropriate. The real-life Green Book, “The Negro Motorist Green Book” published by postal worker Victor Hugo Green in 1938, listed priceless info of safe eating establishments and lodging for Black people in the Jim Crow South. The Green Book movie barely covered this important info aside from a scene when Lip was handed a copy of the Green Book by a recording label executive. All of these issues made Green Book ‘s Best Picture win feel like another smack in the face to Black stories. When competing with Black-led films like Black Panther and BlacKkKlansman, the white-washed, White savior narrative won again. Even creatives like Spike Lee couldn’t contain their frustration, considering the BlacKkKlansman  director reportedly stormed out his seat when Green Book was announced as Best Picture. Of course, many frustrations were let out on Twitter with White and Black users alike clowning the movie’s shallow take on race. Green Book was not for Black people. It was to make white people feel good about doing little to stop racism beyond the interpersonal. Also, the other movies were better. ALSO, Regina, Ruth, Spike & more amazing Black folks won last night so I’m done talmbout Green a Book. — Brittany Packnett (@MsPackyetti) February 25, 2019   Because the Internet has no chill, many people also hilariously made fun of Green Book by comparing it to that one White person who tries waaay too hard to prove they’re not racist. Some of Green Book’s best friends are black movies. — Alex Seitz-Wald (@aseitzwald) February 25, 2019   Hit the next pages for more spot-on tweets of how Green Book strikingly resembles your allegedly “non-racist” White friend.

“Leaving Neverland” Director Speaks On Graphic Content & Michael Jackson’s Death

The rest is here:

Some say let the dead rest. Others say that truth will always come to the light. What do you think? Via | HotNewHipHop The disturbing details were essential, according to Dan Reed. Leaving Neverland ‘s  first trailer  dropped earlier this week reviving questions about its filmmaker’s intentions. The documentary’s director, Dan Reed, recently gave an  interview  in anticipation of these concerns. He discussed the impact of Michael Jackson’s death on the film and explained why the inclusion of graphic details was essential to the narrative.”It may have been more difficult to make if he were alive today,” Reed stated. “People are still very much afraid of Jackson and his lawyers. As I went around speaking to people who were associated with the investigations, they were afraid of Jackson’s people’s ability to shut down a lot of the victims. They employ unscrupulous PIs, and are very litigious. The power of his machine is very terrifying.” READ MORE
