Canibus Disses J. Cole Then Apologizes [VIDEO]

See the original post here:

Over the weekend rapper Canibus added J.Cole to the  list of MCs he’s had issue with over the years. What made this latest assault so bizarre is that J. Cole has publicly stated that Canibus is one of his favorite MCs and biggest influences, even playing his music at his shows. Well, it seems that is exactly what Canibus had a problem with. In an open letter, the artist best known for his battle with LL Cool and the classic diss record “Second Round K.O.” , said he felt disrespected by Cole for not mentioning his newer work. “Cole might say he does this to pay homage, but in reality, by him playing my older material owned by my former label dating back to 1998, subsequently overlooking my current works and contributions which directly benefit me now, he is treating me less like an artist that has, and continues to contribute, influence, and inspire an even younger generation of MC’s coming up…” ( read the full letter here ) Canibus went on to add that Cole speaks about him “like he’s dead.” The letter was followed by a diss track called “J. Clone” (listen here) where Bis calls Cole out by his government name Jermaine and replays sound bites of interviews where Cole praises him. “ If it ain’t a threat, then it must be a promise / You said my name so much they think you’re being honest. ” The entire campaign wreaked of a desperate plea for attention and there was a very vocal outcry from fans and artists alike. Sean Price , who has recorded songs with Canibus on several occasions even Tweeted, “You get no points dissin J. Cole. Leave that man alone Canibus.” Well, it appears that Canibus got the message loud and clear and issued the following apology via Youtube. “I’ve seen thousands of comments about this J.Cole track and all of the negativity it’s stirring up, ” he says with Slick Rick’s “Hey Young World” playing in the background. “And after 48 hours of it I feel confident enough to say that it’s unanimous. Hip-Hop has spoken up loud and clear. It’s a “Cole” world right now and you’re the reigning champ, J. I take a full responsibility for my actions and I apologize for stepping over the line.” Truth be told, Canibus’s gripe is not unique. Many veteran hip-hop artists who still record have publicly wished that fans and DJs would embrace their new work instead of living in the past. But that doesn’t mean they go and attack those who still support them. Furthermore, you have some artists like Lil Kim who have waged war on MCs for NOT paying homage in the way Cole has. What kind of message is this sending to new artists? Fourteen years ago Canibus was the young buck “paying homage” and the old head took it the wrong way. You’d think he’d remember that . But throughout his career Canibus has morphed into this curmudgeonly, stereotypical mad rapper picking bones with everyone from Eminem , Joe Budden and Royce Da 5′ 9′ to even KRS-ONE . So the collective eye roll at this J.Cole shot seemed to finally shame him into calming down. “I’m not a hater, I just went too far and I hope hip-hop can forgive me for my foolishness,” he concludes. “I’m gonna go sit my old ass down somewhere right now. Happy Holidays, man.” Finally Twitter uses its powers for good. (Props to Missinfo.TV for the video) RELATED POSTS: Canibus Disses KRS-One In New Song

Will ‘Star Trek’ Sequel Include Khan?

Actor Simon Pegg and producer Bryan Burk talk to MTV News about the infamous villain and other details. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz J.J. Abrams and the cast of “Star Trek” Photo: Zade Rosenthal The dedicated fan following of J.J. Abrams knows that the talented writer/director is great at keeping secrets — particularly when those secrets revolve around the highly anticipated and heavily guarded “Star Trek” sequel. And while a few details have started to emerge about the 2013 release, including cast additions ( like Alice Eve ) and villain speculation, we don’t know much. When MTV News caught up with Simon Pegg and producer Bryan Burk when they were promoting “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” we asked what they know so far and if they’d seen or heard any official talk about Khan, the rumored fan-favorite villain. Pegg swore he doesn’t know anything about new characters that have joined the story, but he does know that his Scotty will have a particularly creative sex scene. “There is a large group sex scene with Scotty and some green chicks. That’s all I know; that’s all I’ve been told. It was a sweetener,” he joked. “That was my condition for doing the film.” While Pegg assured us that what he had read of the script is, in fact, really “good,” he knows nothing about Khan. “I haven’t heard the name Khan come up. Not to say it won’t come up, but I have heard no mention of him whatsoever,” he said. “He is a great villain. I don’t want to say too much and then have to eat my words as I often do, but we’ve seen Khan [in a ‘Trek’ movie before]. To see him again, how much value is there in that? I don’t know.” Burk was equally coy about the superhuman tyrant’s place in “Trek 2.” “There are amazing villains all throughout the ‘Star Trek’ universe as well as new villains,” he said when asked for his thoughts on whether Khan belongs in the new film. “As we did in the last film, there’s a lot of directions you can go with the film. In this case, we chose to do something we thought would be original and unique and different, and I think on paper, we made the right choice. Now we have to go shoot.” Burk also promised that the second film will pick up where things left off. “Unlike the last film, where we were restarting and setting up the characters … we’re going to jump right back in, and we don’t have to set up everybody and we can go right in it,” he explained. “We’re kind of in a mad dash at the beginning of the film. In all of our conversation, we reference a lot of our favorite films and how ‘Empire Strikes Back’ was spectacular and how they were able to pick up and keep going.” Abrams’ “Star Trek” sequel starts shooting in 3-D in January and is scheduled to be released May 17, 2013. More here:

Here’s the new trailer for Battleship, Peter Berg’s aliens versus Navy movie that has been a great big ‘WTF?’ since it was first announced. The first trailer demonstrated that the film is sort of a big closed battle between humans and some sort of alien invasion, and now the new trailer shows a lot more action. We see some alien soldiers, a lot of alien tech (think Transformers) and a lot of Taylor… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : /Film Discovery Date : 09/12/2011 19:38 Number of articles : 6

Courtney Trouble: The Mr. Skin Skinterview [PICS]

No, Really, Just Say No: First Trailer for Farrelly Brothers’ ‘The Three Stooges’ Arrives

http://www.youtube.com/v/MFeYUNHtUG0

Here is the original post:

Possible introductory pieces of wordsmithery to lead off this post – “not worth nyuk-ing about!” or even “better than a poke in the eye!” or possibly a longer rife on the use of “just say Moe” as the film’s tagline. Yet all of those cracks at humor are rendered absolutely and starkly unnecessary by this first trailer for the Farrelly Brothers‘ The Three Stooges, which is so painfully unfunny that… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Film School Rejects Discovery Date : 07/12/2011 19:45 Number of articles : 2

No, Really, Just Say No: First Trailer for Farrelly Brothers’ ‘The Three Stooges’ Arrives

‘Three Stooges’ Trailer Delivers Slapstick And Snooki

Farrelly brothers bring the Stooges into present day but leave their classic comedy style intact. By Kara Warner Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos and Sean Hayes in “The Three Stooges” Photo: 20th Century Fox The Farrelly brothers have finally unleashed the first trailer for their “Three Stooges” movie, and if you’re a fan of Larry, Moe and Curly’s classic slapstick, consider it an early Christmas gift. The nearly two-minute spot opens at the Sisters of Mercy Orphanage, where a burlap sack containing the baby Stooges is dropped at the doorstep, complete with the first eye-poke gag. The rest of the trailer features a smorgasbord of classic “Three Stooges” quotes, gags and slapstick, with a couple of modern twists thrown in. There’s the familiar “spread out!” shout when the boys prep for a fight, Curly’s panting and dog barks when he spots a beautiful woman (one of whom is played by “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara) and their “Mind your P’s and Q’s” gag. There are lobsters stuck to faces and dropped in pants, plus countless objects thrown at our main characters. In one scene, the guys are introduced to the iPhone, which Curly puts up to his eye to try and blink-talk with someone. The final shot of the trailer features some very familiar faces: JWoww and Snooki from our very own “Jersey Shore.” “Hiya, Snook, I gotcha a present,” Larry says, holding out a cardboard box to an unsuspecting Snooki. “Go on, open it.” Snooki opens the top and a hand jumps out and pokes her in the eye. “Owww!” she yells, and the trailer fades to black. After years of false starts and attempts to reboot the classic eye-poking, head-bonking comedy franchise with stars such as Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey , the movie now is being headlined by the trio of Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamontopoulos. Although the film is not yet rated, when MTV News caught up with the Farrellys earlier this year, they promised to keep things PG. “The Stooges, by the way, are just naturally and organically PG,” Peter Farrelly said. “That’s what it is. We wouldn’t want it to be what it isn’t. It’s like ‘Napoleon Dynamite,’ as funny as that was, that was a PG movie, not PG-13. It’s just natural, and this is what the Stooges is. “They are Moe, Larry, Curly as you remember them,” he added when asked if the co-directors had plans to modernize the characters at all. “It’s not a biopic. It’s the episodes just as you saw but we rewrote, we have all new episodes. We have three episodes. Technically, each episode picks up where the last one left off. Each one begins with its own theme, so it’s about an hour and 25 minutes. Three episodes, fun, old-fashioned, but it takes place present-day, and they look, dress and sound like the Three Stooges.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Three Stooges.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘Avengers’ Trailer Tops 2011 Marvel Movie Moments

First look and Robert Kirkman’s subsequent commentary top our list of the greatest Marvel moments of the year. By Josh Wigler Samuel L. Jackson in “The Avengers” Photo: Marvel / MTV News With “The Avengers” finally assembling in just a few months and other properties like “Spider-Man” and “Ghost Rider” swinging back into theaters as well, it’s looking like a very bright 2012 for the Marvel brand. But don’t discount the power of 2011: From Captain America throwing his mighty shield to Thor striking lightning at the box office, it was an awesome year for the House of Ideas. From new releases and trailers to casting and crew announcements, these are our 10 favorite Marvel movie moments of 2011. 10. “First Class” Trailer Does Not Suck The “First Class” production horror stories were quite troubling to read about during the latest “X-Men” movie’s development, but that very first trailer more than cooled our fears. Matthew Vaughn’s exploration of mutant-kind in the psychedelic ’60s looked way up our alley based on that one trailer — and thankfully, we weren’t disappointed when the movie arrived a few months later. 9. “Wolverine” Director Drama We’re still nursing our wounds over losing director Darren Aronofsky from “The Wolverine,” but we won’t deny that the drama was interesting to observe. Thankfully, the story has a happy ending: Though Aronofsky won’t sink his claws into the Hugh Jackman superhero flick, “3:10 to Yuma” director James Mangold is coming aboard to save the day. We can’t wait to see what the newly minted “Wolverine” director has up his sleeve. 8. David Slade Finds “Daredevil” Likewise, we’re thoroughly psyched about “Eclipse” and “30 Days of Night” filmmaker David Slade heading to Hell’s Kitchen for Fox’s planned “Daredevil” reboot. Even though we don’t know who he has in mind to play the Man Without Fear, Slade’s plans to adapt Frank Miller’s classic “Born” story line are appealing enough all on their own. 7. “Avengers” Gets Conned We weren’t exactly thrilled about the lack of “Avengers” at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, but the team at Marvel more than made up for that absence by attending the D-23 Expo and New York Comic Con a few months later. Featuring several of the film’s castmembers and presenting never-before-seen footage to an incredibly lucky crowd, both of the year’s major “Avengers” convention appearances proved to be valuable sources of information for fans of the upcoming superhero epic. 6. Spidey-Vision The “Amazing Spider-Man” teaser trailer released in July got our spider-senses tingling, and not necessarily for the right reasons. The trailer-ending POV sequence was a divisive creative decision, and the darker tone the reboot seems to be striving for didn’t sit well with everybody. That said, our curiosity about Andrew Garfield’s take on Peter Parker has never been higher, and it’s all thanks to that trailer’s existence. 5. Ghost Rider Pees Fire ‘Nuff said. 4. “Thor” and “Captain America” Arrive Finally, after years of waiting for the other core members of the Avengers squad to make their big-screen arrivals, we finally got our wish with this summer’s “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Chrises Hemsworth and Evans absolutely nailed it as the Asgardian warrior and super-soldier, respectively, and their return to theaters in next summer’s “Avengers” can’t possibly come soon enough. 3. “X-Men” Is “First Class” If the “First Class” trailer hadn’t already sold us on the Professor X and Magneto origin story, the movie itself sold us twice. “X-Men” was the surprise comic book hit of the year, if not commercially, then at least creatively. Brimming with phenomenal performances from Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Kevin Bacon, packed with outstanding action (Azazel FTW!) and clever connections to the pre-existing “X-Men” movie universe, “First Class” is my personal pick for best comic book movie of 2011. It’s that good. 2. Earth’s Mightiest Trailer Ever since Nick Fury uttered the words “Avengers initiative” at the end of “Iron Man,” we’ve been waiting for this trailer to drop. Finally, it did, and Joss Whedon’s take on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes looks even more awesome than it did in our dreams. May 4 cannot come soon enough. 1. Earth’s Mightiest Trailer Commentary OK, the only thing better than the “Avengers” trailer? “Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman’s “Avengers” trailer commentary. If you haven’t seen it yet, behold the hilarity for yourself in the video above. Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .
