Congratulations: Amber Rose Starring In “Gang Of Roses” Sequel… But Who Owns The Title Of Hottest Vixen Vigilante?

So that “Western” movie role Amber Rose has been talking about turns out to be the sequel to “Gang of Roses” — the 2003 Jean-Claude La Marre “classic” that starred Lisa Raye, Stacey Dash, Marie Matiko, Charity Hill, Bobby Brown and Lil Kim. So you know the acting in that one set the bar soooo high for Amby Cakes. Amber tweeted the above photo along with a lil info about the film: At least we know Vivica Fox is no snob. SMH. So it looks like Amby’s “Roses” role is Tara X — a bounty hunter. Sources tell BOSSIP that Amber will have to learn how to ride a horse, shoot various firearms and perform other stunts required by actors in Western films. She’s filming the last two weeks of August, however there is currently no scheduled release date for the project. If you had to choose between watching Amber Rose onscreen and watching Lisa Raye — which one would you pick? What about Amber vs. Stacey Dash? VS. Lil Kim? How about some visuals to help with your decision? Keep clicking for some great shots from the original “Gang of Roses” and don’t forget to comment and let us know Who Owns It!

‘Cowboys & Aliens’: The Reviews Are In!

Western meets sci-fi flick is full of ‘nifty scenes,’ but ‘unappealing’ overall, critics say. By Terri Schwartz Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig in “Cowboys and Aliens” Photo: Universal With a concept as inspired as “Cowboys & Aliens” and an A-list cast that brings together James Bond and Indiana Jones themselves, it’s hard to imagine what could possibly have gone wrong between bringing the movie from the production room to the big screen. MTV’s Splash Page blog found a lot to love about the movie despite its flaws, but other critics have not been so kind. Maybe it was the fact that director Jon Favreau took the summer blockbuster too seriously. Fans hoping for a tongue-in-cheek mash-up of a Western and an alien movie are in for a straight-laced action flick without a lot of room for humor, like in Favreau’s “Iron Man” films. Even the movie’s charismatic leads couldn’t rescue “Cowboys & Aliens” from its identity crisis, critics are saying. Still, there was plenty to love about the movie as well. “Cowboys & Aliens” is certainly a fun ride to take this summer, so before you head to the multiplex this weekend, take a gander at the “Cowboys & Aliens” reviews we lassoed up for you. The Story “The whole aliens-on-the-frontier incongruity never comes to much, really. There are nifty scenes, like the horseback riders battling silvery skeletal airplanes, but what ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ lacks is a good story. Basically, the characters — [Daniel] Craig’s enigmatic outlaw, [Harrison] Ford’s scowling boss, a tribe of Apache — must put aside their differences to form a posse and defeat the invaders. Who do we care about onscreen? For all of Craig’s edgy charisma, no one. ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ has fun moments, but it’s a plodding entertainment because it mostly tastes like leftovers.” — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly The Leading Men “In Daniel Craig, the movie has what feels awfully like the second coming of Steve McQueen. Maybe it’s the laser blue eyes under the broad forehead, or the laconic refusal to speak except when absolutely necessary, but Craig has a presence here that feels downright mythic. … The chance to be as mean as he wants to be energizes [Ford], whose storied crankiness finally finds a home. It’s a character part, and you can sense Ford’s relief at letting another man shoulder the load. Consciously or not, there’s a generational passing of the baton just under this movie’s surface, and it helps immensely that Craig’s up to the task.” — Ty Burr, The Boston Globe The Cowboys and the Aliens “In Hollywood’s ancient prime, maybe a third of all movies were Westerns. But those days are as dead as the horse-mounted cavalry; in the past 30 years, the genre has been resuscitated only when some powerful director wanted to make a movie like the ones he grew up loving. So ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ has got to get to the aliens pretty damn quick. Even here, Favreau and his crew sprinkle a few memorable moments: the aliens’ low-flying scout planes, looking like 10-winged titanium dragonflies and lassoing the townspeople for abduction; a desert vision of an upside-down steamship, which momentarily summons the ghost of Werner Herzog’s ‘Fitzcarraldo’; and the recurring image of Craig retrieving his cowboy hat, whether he’s fighting off human varmints or escaping from the aliens’ stronghold. A man ain’t a man without his Stetson.” — Richard Corliss, Time The Concept “Cowboys versus aliens is a concept that may make you smile in anticipation, but wipe that smile off your face before buying your ticket, because the film takes its subject seriously — deadly seriously in the case of Harrison Ford, who plays a nasty rancher with the snarls and scowls that have become his trademarks, as if in penance for being so charming in the past. One interesting twist has a posse of cowboys teaming up with the Apaches they fear in order to vanquish the aliens, but the storytelling, punctuated by incoherent flashbacks, is often inscrutable.” — Joe Morgenstern, The Wall Street Journal The Final Word “A leaden mash-up of western and science-fiction elements that ends up noisy, grotesque and unappealing, this Jon Favreau-directed film features five producers (including Brian Grazer and Ron Howard), six executive producers (Steven Spielberg and Ryan Kavanaugh among them) and six credited writers, led by ‘Star Trek’ rebooters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and ‘Lost’s’ Damon Lindelof. No wonder the film plays like a business deal more than a motion picture. Listed as a producer, not a writer, is Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, whose concept for the original graphic novel inspired the film. That’s right, ‘Cowboys’ doesn’t even retell the story the graphic novel does; it sets out on its own. This is not a satisfying journey.” — Kenneth Turan, The Los Angeles Times Check out everything we’ve got on “Cowboys & Aliens.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . ‘Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Stars Give Apes Top Billing

Tom Felton, James Franco and other castmembers say come for the apes, stay for the story … or just the apes. By Kara Warner Freida Pinto and James Franco at the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” premiere Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images HOLLYWOOD — There is enough intrigue, presumed destruction and primate shenanigans in the trailers for “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” to entice more than just the fans of the 1968 original into theaters when the film opens next week. But when MTV News caught up with the principal castmembers at the Hollywood premiere on Thursday, we asked them to sell us on a few more of the film’s must-see elements, aside from their furry co-stars. Basically, if people come to see the apes, what will make them stay? “Wow, James [Franco], Freida [Pinto], Andy [Serkis], everyone else,” Tom Felton said, speaking to his co-stars’ appeal. “There is a mixture of CGI and special effects that we’ve never seen onscreen before, along with a strong story and a strong message: Humans can’t play God too much. We should not overstep our boundaries when it comes to manipulating Mother Nature.” Pinto countered that it’s all about the apes. “I think this is one of few films that really give them a voice as well,” she said. “Of course, ‘Planet of the Apes’ did as well, but ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ gives them a voice in a very revolutionary way.” One of the prominent primate voices heard is that of Caesar, played by seasoned motion-capture performer Andy Serkis, who, according to Franco, is the main reason why the film is any good. “The apes, I think Andy Serkis and WETA should get top billing,” Franco said. “They stole the show; they’re incredible.” Actor John Lithgow, who plays the father of Franco’s character, was the only one who thought folks will start out loving the apes and leave loving the humans. “They [will] stay for the people, and the extent to which the apes become people,” he said. “It’s a story, it’s a great story, that’s why they stay.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Blake Lively: Tattooed For Savages!

Blake Lively, who is probably still best known as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, was spotted looking nothing like her alter ego this week. Sporting several new tattoos, including two butterflies and some bands on her arm, the 23-year-old star was in character on the set of Savages . The rest of her boho-chic ensemble is also part of her character’s look:

You’ll Never Guess Who Gets Third Billing on The Final Muppets Poster

The marketing for the Disney reboot of The Muppets that Jason Segel will bring to the big screen this November has been spot-on for months now. Between the hilarious parody trailers — better than the movies they parodied — and the actual trailer , Muppets ad campaign has struck just the right tone between nostalgia and modernity. The final poster for the film does much of the same — it just looks so damn fun! — but does raise one interesting curio. Can you guess which Oscar-winning actor gets third billing after Segel and Amy Adams — and before the Muppets?

‘Cowboys & Aliens’ Nude Scene ‘Crazy,’ Olivia Wilde Says

Co-star Daniel Craig had to ‘look me up and down,’ actress explains. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Olivia Wilde in “Cowboys & Aliens” Photo: Universal Pictures Olivia Wilde might have been covered in dust and dirt while shooting “Cowboys & Aliens,” but that didn’t make shooting a mostly nude scene in front of her co-star Daniel Craig any less awkward. “It was kind of strange because I was half-naked in front of a bunch of people, including the crew, a bunch of Apache warriors, a bunch of cowboys, and Daniel Craig, who I had to stand in front of basically naked,” Wilde explained to MTV News. “He had to take a moment to sort of look me up and down before covering me in a blanket. And I was like, this is crazy.” It didn’t help that after the long night of shooting, Wilde and the rest of the “Cowboys & Aliens” cast had to take an overnight flight to San Diego Comic-Con to make their Hall H presentation . So if fans remember her being a little frazzled, it probably has something to do with the fact Wilde had no sleep after filming a scene in which she was partially nude for the majority of it. As fans will find out come Friday’s release of “Cowboys & Aliens,” the scene Wilde is talking about — which has been teased in the film’s many trailers — happens at the climax. She said filming the sequence was an “honor” because it is such an important moment in the movie. “It was really exciting because we knew we were creating something kind of spectacular in that scene,” Wilde said. “It was a really cool effect happening, as people will see.” The actress said she didn’t wear much make-up and required little hairstyling while filming because the style of the flick was “very bare.” She said it was a very dirty shoot, and not just because she was almost naked. “We were literally dirty because we were riding all day long out in the desert, and you get very dirty. But the dirtier everybody looked, the hotter they looked. It was a really good look, I think,” she said. “The people in the Old West were very dirty. The thing that’s unrealistic about our movie is all our teeth: We have good teeth; they didn’t have good teeth. So, logic police will call BS on that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Cowboys & Aliens.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Two New Ferocious Stills of Jane Fonda in Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding

Once you put aside the silly Elvis Costello song title pun, the TIFF entry Peace, Love, and Understanding seems like an ideal project for all parties involved: Catherine Keener plays a conservative lawyer who, following a divorce from her husband (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), takes her kids (Nat Wolff and Elizabeth Olsen) to meet their estranged, hippie grandmother in Woodstock. That grandmother is Jane Fonda, whose new photos from the film should bring you back to a very specific, Oscar-garnering favorite from 1981. If you can’t guess the movie yet, hit yourself.

Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried Explain What Happens ‘In Time’

What if ‘we had the potential to live forever and we looked 25 forever?’ Timberlake explained of the movie’s plot. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in “In Time” Photo: Twentieth Century Fox Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried have done what every person in Hollywood strives to do: stop the aging process. In their new sci-fi flick “In Time,” directed by Andrew Niccol, the actors’ characters shake up their futuristic society, where the upper crust can buy or sell the most important thing the future has to offer: time itself. “We’re all mortals and the human race needs to be structured in a way where there’s no overpopulation,” Seyfried told MTV News on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con . “And we all have body clocks and when we turn 25, you stop aging, basically, and it turns off [and] then you look 25 forever. You can be however old; you can live forever if you have a lot of time.” For Timberlake’s character, Will Salas, his time is nearly up when he’s gifted with more time by a wealthy older man. The elite, played by Cillian Murphy and Vincent Kartheiser, aren’t too keen on this, and eventually, Salas kidnaps Kartheiser’s daughter (Seyfried) and they go on the lam. Why is he so frantic to try to beat the clock? “If you run out of time, you have a heart attack and you’re dead immediately,” Seyfried explained. “It’s cut-and-dry, black and white. There’s the rich, there’s the poor. It reflects a lot on our actual, real society.” Niccol has put his signature seriously satiric stamp on the ideas of aging, something that really appealed to Timberlake. “That’s something that I love that Andrew does. You take a concept like the fountain of youth, something we all seem to be obsessed with, and what would happen if we actually got it? If we had the potential to live forever and we looked 25 forever?” he said. The film features a bevy of good-looking people including Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Olivia Wilde, to name a few, making filming quite an interesting process that came with this note: “Everyone may look the same age, but not everyone is playing the same age.” “All the actors in this film look the same age, but Matt Bomer, for instance, plays a character that’s 105,” Timberlake explained. “And so it really is a visual trip to watch.” Check out everything we’ve got on “In Time.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
