See the Geoffrey Rush-Voiced Tomar-Re in Latest Green Lantern Poster

On Wednesday , Warner Bros. released a slew of stills from Green Lantern , most highlighting star Ryan Reynolds’ CGI -enhanced physique (and ridiculous-looking Gatling gun). Of course Reynolds’ Hal Jordan isn’t the only star in this big-budget franchise starter — the CGI creation that is Tomar-Re as gets major placement, too… and he’s voiced by Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush ! Though you won’t find that bit of info on this new character poster. Click ahead to check it out.

TRAILER: Let’s Have Quirky Teenage Sex in a Whimsical Pool of Tears in Submarine

Our own Christopher Rosen (who I affectionately call “Crose” or “Croze” or “Croseanne Cash,” in case you were wondering) reviewed the UK trailer for the cute-ass Sundance fave Submarine before, and since then, it’s gotten cuter. In this new-ass American trailer for Richard Ayoade’s directorial debut, romantic kiddies enjoy quirky sex with each other and remain tolerable while doing so. Put on your hip Serge Gainsbourg-theme condom and hump along.

Trailer: Ridley Scott Cobbles Together the World’s Home Videos For Life in a Day

Last summer, Ridley Scott and Last King of Scotland director Kevin McDonald teamed up with YouTube for a “historic global experiment” that would work like this: You send them some video of your activities on July 24, 2010 (a Saturday) and they would edit the best footage into a documentary film about the world’s events that day, credit you as a co-director and premiere it at the Sundance Film Festival under the title Life in a Day . Finally, the trailer has arrived. Let’s take a look!

Elton John, Cameron Crowe Premiere Get Tribeca 2011 Off to Rocking Start

The Tribeca Film Festival has always been an adventuresome place to visit on opening night. Few major festivals outside Cannes can claim to have hosted such a broad range of popcorn prospects ( Speed Racer , Shrek Forever After ), midsize local darlings ( Whatever Works ) and variety show curios (buy me a beer and I’ll tell you about that year Jon Bon Jovi slow-jammed “Living on a Prayer”). But Wednesday, just in time to commence their 10th annual event, Team Tribeca nailed it.

The Sundance hit Homework , the Emma Roberts/Freddie Highmore film that Fox Searchlight snatched up the day of its premiere, is now retitled The Art of Getting By . Is the trailer worth analyzing? Ish. But you know what deserves more scrutiny? The fact that these stars look 11 and 8 respectively.

Fernando Meirelles Will Give Aristotle Onassis The Godfather Treatment

No one in Hollywood has come close to recreating the epic tapestry of power, politics and family (not to mention machine gun murders) onscreen that Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola established with The Godfather . That doesn’t mean they aren’t trying. Just today, director Fernando Meirelles ( The Constant Gardener ) and screenwriter Bráulio Mantovani ( City of God ) announced that they are developing a similarly ambitious project which will center on Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, his sketchy business dealings and his sketchier involvement with the Kennedy family.

Atlas Shrugged, Conspirator Get Political in Search For Box-Office Respect

Rio might have flown away with number one, but the real stories of the weekend box-office might be a pair of films that didn’t even make the top 10. And if their companies’ reactions are any indication, they are not done yet. But is this really just about the money?
