Check Out These Tang-Soaked Character Posters From Immortals

You’ll be hearing more from our intrepid Jen Yamato from the WonderCon panel on Tarsem Singh’s god fight flick Immortals later on, but for now take a gander at these just released posters for some of the characters. Pictured are new Superman Henry Cavill as Theseus, Luke Evans as Zeus, Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Isabel Lucas as Athena and Daniel Sharman as Aries. Other than the dusky nectarine color scheme, it looks like the movie is very consciously trying to get some of that sweet, sweet 300 money by aping the look and feel of that other sword ‘n sandals stab epic. But bonus points to anyone who can tell me what that Tang-like liquid is that’s swirling all around them.

Insidious and 8 Other Really Vague One-Word Horror Movie Titles

This week, Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell unveil their latest horror pic , Insidious . But what sort of frights await within, exactly? Is it a little hard to guess, based on the super vague-yet-sinister sounding title? Well, Insidious isn’t the first horror film to go the ambiguous route; common words like “them,” and “scream” previously drew in puzzled moviegoers only to become genre classics. Will “insidious” join the horror movie lexicon as indelibly as these eight other really vague one-word movie titles that have come before?

New Winnie the Pooh Clips: Zooey Deschanel’s Trip to the Hundred Acre Wood

You’ll recall that we’re excited for Winnie the Pooh . The cuddly bear with very little brains is always a good candidate for reanimation, and this new version seems to strike a sentimental note. In this new clip, let’s watch as the ineffably moronic Piglet tries to save his friends from a pit using flowers. Oh, and Zooey Deschanel amplifies the cuteness with a piano jam.

Mighty Ducks Hardcore Rap: Emilio’s Dealio

This seems annoying at first, but trust me when I say it takes 20 seconds for this ditty entitled “Quack Attack” (by the august rapper Lil Deuce Deuce) to bloom into the funniest video — let alone Mighty Ducks tribute — I’ve seen in the past month. And this month is almost over! That’s 30 days of supremacy. Please enjoy this triple deke of hysteria, and prepare to suffer a coronary when Kenan Thompson comes up.

Could Leaked Sex Photos Suddenly Make Breaking Dawn More Appealing to Non-Twilight Fans?

Believe it or not, there is still a subset of moviegoers who have no interest in seeing anything Twilight -related. These audience members stayed strong in spite of societal pressure to see sequels New Moon and Eclipse , suffocating media coverage of its stars’ real-life romance and even the intriguing revelation that Pattinson will deliver a baby with his own teeth in a future installment. But can the strongest Twilight hater resist Bill Condon’s Breaking Dawn after seeing the sexy leaked photos of Bella and Edward consummating their illicit relationship, one thrust at a time?

Samurai Obliterate An Entire Army in Trailer For Takashi Miike’s 13 Assassins

Given that previous films from Japanese shock cinema master Takashi Miike ( Ichi the Killer , Audition ) have featured title screens written in semen, explicit homages to the conclusion of The Grapes of Wrath and uh, the entire earth exploding, the trailer for 13 Assassins actually looks kind of tame. But that’s like saying David Lynch’s Blue Velvet looks “normal” compared to Inland Empire .

James Franco & Mila Kunis Confirmed To Join The Wonderful World Of Oz

Coming Soon is reporting that Sam Raimi has officially cast James Franco as the titular, fast-talking conman in Oz, The Great and Powerful, his adult-tinged prequel to the Wizard of Oz . And errant ballerina Mila Kunis is also coming aboard at the witch Glendora; no word as to whether she is a good witch or a bad witch. It’s long been rumored but I think Franco is great choice for a silver-tongued scamster — after all, didn’t he con us all into thinking he’d be able to host the Oscars? [ ComingSoon ]

Mildred Pierce Is the Film Event of the Year So Far — And It’s on HBO

To my previous rule of “Only Remake Bad Movies, Not Good Ones,” let me add the codicil, “But It’s OK to Remake Good Ones If the Original Strayed from the Source Material.” Because that’s what Todd Haynes does in his breathtaking five-part HBO adaptation of James M. Cain’s Mildred Pierce (premiering this Sunday, March 27). Rather than try to summon the magic that made the 1945 version so memorable (Joan Crawford won a well-deserved Oscar in the title role), Haynes goes back to the original Cain novel to tell a story that fans of the original movie know only in bits and pieces.

TRAILER: The Silent House Offers Horror in One, Uninterrupted 79-Minute Shot

How effective is horror, a genre defined by tricky edits and Neve Campbell’s harried grimace, when its thrills are conveyed in one continuous shot? Gustavo Hernández’s 2010 Cannes selection The Silent House — which comes out in the UK this April — wants to answer that. In the new trailer (which, counterintuitively, is a patchwork of quick cuts) young actress Florencia Colucci tries to flee an ominous house in rural Uruguay, but some dark-ass force has her number.

What Should Be The Weinstein Company’s First Video Game?

A tremendous week of news deserves no less a finale than this: The Weinstein Company is going into the video-game business . “The TWC Games label will utilize The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films’ strong and recognizable properties, and work with external partners to develop and publish video games for mobile, social, and console platforms,” announced a press release, punctuated by Bob Weinstein’s observation: “With all of the digital platforms, there are so many opportunities to broaden our audience with compelling, high quality, cost-efficient, video game entertainment.” No kidding! But what should come first?
