Robert Zemeckis’ Flight Trailer: Denzel Washington Runs Into Turbulence

After riding train after train and whatnot , Denzel Washington is back navigating giant hunks of careening metal in Robert Zemeckis ‘s Flight , which marks the director’s return to live-action filmmaking after a decade spent trying (in vain, IMO) to conquer the uncanny valley. So how well do director and star succeed in piquing your interest in a movie about an airline pilot (Washington) who saves a plane full of passengers only to have his heroism — and drinking habits — come under scrutiny in the aftermath? Below, watch the first trailer for Flight , which boasts a stellar cast surrounding Washington that includes Bruce Greenwood, Don Cheadle, Kelly Reilly, John Goodman, and Melissa Leo. It’s not all that revealing, which is a good thing in this age of spoiler-happy marketing, though there’s potential for some big unknown twist to rock us to our core in the last act. So what’s there to look forward to? Washington as a normal dude trying to figure it out, I suppose — or as a hero hiding some dark secret, which would be more interesting — and, of course, the sight of Denzel rolling a freaking airplane on top of some houses , or whatever. That should be enough for me. And yet… I’m just lukewarm on Flight . Is there any reason to see it besides the fact that it’s Denzel being Denzel and Zemeckis maybe-recapturing the knack for storytelling on display in his best live-action hits? Head to Apple for the trailer premiere. Then again, I am about to get on a flight tomorrow morning, so forgive me if I’m not too juiced for a movie about the one airplane that falls apart in the sky for no good reason. Flight synopsis: In this action-packed mystery thriller, Academy Award winner Denzel Washington stars as Whip Whitaker, a seasoned airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mid-air catastrophe, saving nearly every soul on board. After the crash, Whip is hailed as a hero, but as more is learned, more questions than answers arise as to who or what was really at fault, and what really happened on that plane? Flight is in theaters November 2. [via Apple ]

My name is Ciara and I am 14 years old. I am from a small town…

My name is Ciara and I am 14 years old. I am from a small town in  Ireland and cannot believe I am finally writing my Bieber Experience. During the summer of 2011 I bought the Never Say Never DVD when it was first released. On the inside was a competition to fly to America to meet Justin Bieber. I devoted my time entering this competition; 70 times a day for over a week. Three months later I got the email saying that I had won. I was going to meet Justin in LA. Two weeks after I got the news, it was my birthday and I was heading to LA airport. It was nearly a 24 hour journey but so worth it. On the Friday, we were brought to Paramount Studios along with some other winners from across the world. We were sitting in an empty dining room chatting and getting excited. At 6:20 Kenny walked in. Seeing Kenny made it all real . Kenny headed straight for the snack table. Then Justin walked in. He waved and thanked us for coming. We each got a chance to go up to Justin. I walked over to Justin who put his arm around me and whatever way he did, I held his hand for a few seconds. That made my life. I am getting shivers thinking about it. His hands were the softest things I have ever felt, that boy is a moisturizing machine! They were smooth and warm and tan. My mum was struggling with the camera so I took the chance to give him a book that my classmates and I made for him. He took it and thanked me and passed it to Kenny. He kept saying ‘sweetie’ and ‘sweetheart‘. Justin was so warm and his jumper was so soft. He smelt like he had just come out of the laundry. So clean.  With Kenny’s help, mum took the photo and he gave me a big hug. His hug was… his hug was life changing. He asked “Would you like me to sign anything?” I just stared blankly like a fool. Mum passed him my copy of First Steps to Forever. He brought out his own sharpie from nowhere. He wrote Justin in about 2 seconds. Then, he looked at the page for about five second looking confused. He drew a line and paused again. He then made the line into a ‘B’ and signed Bieber but before he handed it back to my mother he drew a little heart. The next people then came forward so my mum thanked him, he replied with “No, thank you, thanks for coming!” I squeaked a thank you and moved out of the way bumping into Kenny’s elbow. KENNY TOUCHED MY ELBOW. I was losing all consciousness . I stood at the side of the room shaking for the next 15 minutes as everyone got their turn. Justin then raised a hand (an extremely moisturized hand) and once again thanked us for coming and how great it was to meet us. Kenny followed him out the door. And that was it. I had just met Justin Bieber. -@Belieber_Nerd Read more: My name is Ciara and I am 14 years old. I am from a small town…

Yo my names Jordan, I’m 18 and I met Bieber on April 12,…

Yo my names Jordan, I’m 18 and I met Bieber on April 12, 2012 . I thought I’d just add something here cause it was a sick experience. I was waiting to get on my flight from LA to Ft. Lauderdale and there were no seats available anywhere, so I decided to just sit in one of the empty seats far from where they scan your ticket to get on the plane. As I’m sitting there all of a sudden Justin Bieber sat down next to me with his mom and security guards and I was like wtf!?! I said, “Yo whatsup Justin, can I get a picture with you?” and he said “Yeah sure come over here.” We all walked over to this hidden type area in the airport so I guess other people wouldn’t see him and he took a picture with me and he was really chill. I talked to Justin’s mom for a couple minutes and she was really nice and I told him good luck with more of his music coming soon. Then all of a sudden I was walking onto my plane and Justin was sitting 8 rows infront of me! I watched him for 5 1/2 hours to Florida tweet fans and sleep most of the flight. It was kinda freaky watching someone so huge only 10 steps from you for 5 1/2 hours. Then once we got off the plane, I was waiting for my friend to pick me up and Bieber was the last one walking out and paparazzi was there and flashing pictures everywhere. I saw him jump into his car and leave. It was a sick experience and one I won’t forget! Follow me Beliebers! -@IcyJordan See the original post: Yo my names Jordan, I’m 18 and I met Bieber on April 12,…

On April 17, 2012 I went to The Voice because I heard Justin…

On April 17, 2012 I went to The Voice because I heard Justin Bieber was going to be there, I had to go! I had general tickets and it looked like we were going to get pretty crappy seats. We’ve been waiting and waiting for like 2 hours to at least get our wristbands. We finally got them and we got a blue one until this guy gave me a black one too. I was so confused because I now had 2 wristbands. He asked me if those 2 girls were my friends and I said yes. He’s said okay because I gave them black wristbands too. I asked what they were for. He told us we would be sitting in the PIT! I was freaking out! My friend Nicole was dying because she is in love with Adam Levine and Justin Bieber too. We waited another good hour and began walking toward the studio. We were waiting in line before going into the studio and Justin and Scooter were driving on a golf cart right by us! All I saw was Scooter because everyone was blocking my way. But that was still exciting for me. Anyways the show goes on, we meet The Wanted, they preformed right in front of us and talked to us. They’re such sweet guys! Then we met Adam Levine, Christina Auguilara, Cee Lo, Blake and then of course Justin Bieber. During comercial breaks I was like, “Adam tell Justin I said whats up” and he was laughing and said “Okay.” The show was so much fun! All I could think about was seeing Justin. I heard Carson Daily say, “and now it’s time to premiere the video,” etc and I hear Justin, I just couldn’t see him yet! My friend was like, “Omg he’s behind, you turn around!” I turned and I saw him standing there. Everyone around me knew I was such a huge fan, I was screaming and couldn’t help but have the biggest smile on my face and tears. He’s grown up and come so far and I’m really proud to say that I’ve been a fan since the very beginning. Then after they were like thanks for coming and he was saying bye to all the judges. I was so sad because I thought he wasn’t going to come close to me. All of a sudden I see him running up the steps and coming straight towards me and the rest of the fans. I was in total shock, I was speechless. All I could do was point to my cheek and he grabbed my hand and went, “Muuuuuaaaaaaaaaahhhhh” and kissed me. My friends were screaming in shock, we were so speechless!! After it was commercial break and the guy who was keeping the crowd going came and asked who did he kiss and I was like me! He was like, “How does it feel to be kissed by Justin Bieber and make everyone jealous” and stuff like that. I felt so happy, I couldn’t help but keep a smile on my face. Then I come home to find out that him kissing me was on TV! I was so happy because some people didn’t believe me. Justin is truly the nicest guy ever and he’ll never forget about his fans and how much you guys have impacted his life. We support him and he shows us his love for us back. Everyone ready for JUNE 19?!?! BELIEVE is coming out! -@itsmarlenebabyy Read the original here: On April 17, 2012 I went to The Voice because I heard Justin…

Nas Tells His Side Of Concert Promoter’s Kidnapping

Rapper opens up about Angola incident for the first time on today’s ‘RapFix Live’ at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Nas on “RapFix Live” Photo: MTV News Musically, Nas has given so much of himself during the course of his 18-year rap career. But in the media, the Queensbridge MC is usually reserved and soft-spoken. Still, it was hard for God’s Son to hold back when he was accused of skipping out on a New Year’s show in Africa, which led an American concert promoter and his son to be kidnapped. On today’s (March 28) “RapFix Live,” Nas finally gives his side of the story. “I didn’t want to touch on it because it seemed like he was in grave danger out there,” Nas said Tuesday during the interview, which will stream on MTV.com today at 4 p.m. ET. The promoter returned home safely to New Jersey on February 19. TMZ broke the story January 3 and reported that Patrick Allocco and his son, whom he works with, were kidnapped by local Africa promoter Henrique “Riquhino” Miguel after Nas and an opening act failed to perform at a New Year’s Eve concert in Angola. Allocco’s reps told TMZ that Nas and opening act Jemiah Jai were paid to perform two shows but failed to board their flights. Once Miguel realized that Nas wasn’t going to perform, he sent his people to take Allocco and his son into custody at gunpoint. Nas eventually returned the $300,000 that was paid to him, and Allocco was released and allowed to return back to the U.S. Now, Esco is ready to open up. “Basically he was a promoter that I never worked with, and he wanted me to come to Africa for New Year’s, which, for me, I thought, would be the best way to spend New Year’s. The business wasn’t handled. There was nothing sent to me, and there were no flights,” he said. “By the time he did send money — he did eventually send money to me — but it was too late to go. I didn’t even have a visa to get in the country. So that’s canceled, the show’s canceled.” Allocco, who is now contemplating litigation, has a differing account, contending that everything was in place for Nas to travel to Africa. “Nothing could be further from the truth,” Allocco told MTV News of Nas’ version of the story. “Nas put us in harm’s way by not showing up and put my son and I at physical harm and at risk by his inaction to fly to Angola.” “That was just all wrong. Any time I’m supposed to go to Africa, it happens,” Nas said on “RapFix Live.” “When people take care of business, it happens. … You booked the flight but no return flight. I didn’t have a visa, and you didn’t send money till after I was supposed to jump on the plane to another country, and that’s just the way it went down.” Catch Nas, Killer Mike, Bun B and Prodigy on a special episode of “RapFix Live” today at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, when all four esteemed lyricists will address the tragic shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin and more.
