‘I learned a lot from him,’ German DJ/producer tells MTV News of working with Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell. By Akshay Bhansali Thomas Gold Photo: MTV News Berlin’s presiding electronic artist Thomas Gold is back in the States, having just completed final production on a highly anticipated piece of music. In April, MTV News first broke the news that Gold and Swedish House Mafia icon Axwell were exchanging ideas on a house music banger, which at the time was titled “Sing to Me.” The Swedes debuted the song during their takeover of Pete Tong’s BBC Essential Mix radio show last month. Fresh off his flight from Germany, Gold stopped by MTV’s offices Thursday to announce that he’d completed his new single, and its new title is “Sing2me.” Considering his provenance alone, Thomas Gold is a powerhouse producer whose star is on the rise. His own singles, “Agora” and “Marsch, Marsch,” were put out by Steve Angello’s Size Records and Toolroom Records. Those two songs, and his recent collabo with Dirty South, “Alive,” have become house hits. His remix game this year alone has been nothing short of stellar, with official remixes for Lady Gaga ‘s “Judas” and Adele ‘s “Set Fire to the Rain.” “I remember when I got the request for the Adele track,” Gold recalled.”I was like, ‘Oh my god. Oh my god,’ because I love the original, and should I really dare to do a remix of that? But I talked to my guys and said, ‘Hey I would love to do that.’ And at the end I got so much positive feedback. The ‘Judas’ mix as well. They are both highlights of my set, and I play them all the time.” For months now, EDM fans have been anxiously awaiting the release of “Sing2me,” a project that saw Gold exchanging ideas with Axwell (the two had success earlier this year with their remix of Hard Rock Sofa & St. Brothers’ “Blow Up”) this spring and summer. After exclusively sharing the final version of the song with MTV News, he explained that though it’s been a long journey, he’s happy with how far the song has come. “I just got the final mastering done a couple of days ago, and it’s finally finished!” Gold gushed. “It was my song and I sent the idea to [Axwell] months ago. So I’ve been really working a long time. Because I had a certain idea of how the track had to be at the end. The vibe I wanted to create. How it should sound in the club. I tried many things [to get] it to where it is. I’m really happy now. “Axwell has been so supportive,” he continued. “He really loved the track when I sent the rough demo to him. We exchanged files back and forth so he could do his little tweaks. He’s a very musical producer, and this is very interesting to me because his tracks are always banging and have so much energy, but they’re still very musical. So I learned a lot from him.” “Sing2me,” does not have a confirmed drop date, but it will be released on Axwell’s Axtone imprint. Leisha Hailey is not finished with Southwest Airlines. A day after the former L Word star and her girlfriend got booted from a flight – for “excessive” PDA that drew complaints from fellow passengers, according to a company statement – the actress has fired back. She and her partner have released a joint statement that reads : “In no way were our actions on Southwest Airlines excessive, inappropriate or vulgar. We want to make it clear we were not making out or creating any kind of spectacle of ourselves, it was one, modest kiss. “We take full responsibility for getting verbally upset with the flight attendant after being told it was a ‘family airline.’ “We find it very disturbing that the same airline who lauds itself as being LGBT friendly has twisted an upsetting incident that happened into our behavior being ‘too excessive.'” Hailey and the other woman will be filing a formal complaint with the airline.

My name is Abby and I live in Brisbane, Australia and my Bieber experience was the most hilarious and most memorable time. It was Justin’s first ever concert in Australia and I was lucky enough to meet him twice; once in 2010 and once in 2011 on the exact same day. My friend Johanna who is a part of @jbsource rang me at 7am on the day of the concert. Naturally I was sleeping and didn’t answer it in time so I texted her asking what was wrong. I got a reply of her hysterically saying, “KENNY DMED ME ON TWITTER AND IS GIVING ME 4 MEET AND GREETS”. Johanna, our friend Geena and I had planned to go to the concert together so Johanna being the greatest and most generous friend alive gave us one each and another to our other friend @courtneyyhudson. We were 2nd last in line and it came our turn and we walked into the room. Justin said hey to us all. I walked in 2nd last and Justin had already put his arms around the girls to take a picture. I really wanted a hug so I politely asked Justin if I could have one. He said, “Of course you can”, so he gave me a hug. Seeing as I had already met him once, Geena stood next to him to take the photo and we had all discussed beforehand that we wanted Kenny to be in our photo. “KENNY, KENNY GET IN OUR PHOTO” so he jumps in and we took the picture when Johanna yells out, “WAIT WAIT NO OMG I WASN’T READY, PLEASE TAKE ANOTHER ONE”. Justin and Kenny were like okay take another one, meanwhile I had already taken my hands from around everyone and didn’t realize we were taking another photo, so I had to quickly get my hands back around Geena and Kenny and awkwardly enough my hand just had to sit on Kenny’s let’s just say “lower back”. I tried my hardest not to look awkward or laugh but after we took the photo I just blurted out, “How awkward my hand was just on Kenny’s butt”. Kenny laughed and Justin looked at me smiling and just started laughing. I didn’t know if I had offended anyone by saying it but everyone just laughed. Then Kenny told Justin that we were from @jbsource (Even though it was just Johanna) At the time Justin was wearing a beanie and I really wanted to see his new haircut so I asked, “Why are you covering up your new hair with a beanie?” and responded with, “Um, I just got off a 7 hour flight”. I said, “Well I’m sure it looks nice regardless” and he just smiled and said thank you. Johanna asked him if he could tweet Jbsource because he hasn’t tweeted them in ages and she made him pinky promise that he will, which he did. We all said bye and Justin and Kenny said bye and we thanked them. Overall it was an amazing experience and his concert was AMAZING even though he had a sore back he performed. I will never forget what Kenny did for us and I will never be able to repay Johanna. This is crazy: A 31-year-old New Zealander choked and died eating an airline meal on a Jetstar flight from Singapore to Auckland. His girlfriend, Vanessa Preechakul, 27, told the New Zealand Herald how she sat next to the body of Robert Rippingale after he was moved to a curtained-off crew rest area for most of the 11-hour flight, last Monday. A doctor on board pronounced Mr Rippingale dead 90 minutes after take-off. “One minute we were sitting next to each other kissing, holding hands and the next minute he was choking,” Ms Preechakul said at his funeral, yesterday. She said Mr Rippingale was eating his beef dinner while watching a movie when she noticed him shaking, but at first she didn’t realise anything was wrong. “I thought he was laughing very hard, then I looked at his face and his eyes were rolling and he couldn’t talk. His lips were turning purple,” she said. She said a doctor and two nurses on board were unable to save him. The pair met in Singapore, where Mr Rippingale had lived and worked for three years. They were going to New Zealand to meet his family and to celebrate his parents’ 50th birthdays. Jetstar spokesman Andrew McGinnes said the cause of death was unknown and an inquest would be held. He expressed condolences to the family and thanks to the doctor and nurses who tried to save the man. “This was a very difficult and sad event and our sympathies are with the passenger’s family,” he said. He didn’t piss in an aisle . And he didn’t allege racism . But Billie Joe Armstrong was still kicked off a flight this week – and you won’t believe why. According to the Green Day singer, he was tossed off a Southwest flight from Oakland to Burbank because his pants were loose. Armstrong Tweeted today: “Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f(asterisk)(asterisk)(asterisk)? No joke!” A producer from ABC was actually on board the flight, according to Fox News, and says Armstrong replied by asking the attendant if there weren’t “better things to do than worry about that?” But the employee persisted, told the artist he could be taken off the plane if he did not comply… and that’s exactly what happened! Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins subsequently released a statement that confirmed an incident took place, but added Armstrong was permitted on the next flight to Burbank and told a customer relations agent that he had no other complaints. “As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer’s experience,” the statement read. “He elected to take the next flight. We followed up with this Customer and involved Employees to get more details and, in our latest conversations, understand from the Customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction.”

Memphitz admits that he was “looking around like what fool brought a gun.” He released a statement about his arrest explaining how embarrassed he was. “I’m embarrassed about it, I’m not proud of it…It’s not something I’m going around parading about. It really was a simple mistake… it was a big mistake. I have a license. I went and took the time and got my license. It’s just for protection and self defense only, to protect my family. That’s what I was taught to do. I’m not driving around like a hoodlum out there. I usually have it locked up in the house or in my car when I’m traveling. So I took it out of my car and put it my backpack and put it in the house. I hadn’t traveled in a week or so and me & my wife were traveling. So we were headed to the Magic show in Las Vegas. We we’re rushing like “I can’t miss this flight.” So I picked up my computer and my bag and just went to the airport. First of all, I would’ve never pushed my bag through the scanner. I’ve been traveling too long and I’ve transported guns before. Somebody was like, “Somebody got a gun; it’s a gun in this bag.” I was looking around like “What fool brought a gun?” and Toya was looking at me like “It’s in your bag.” “No, it’s not.” Then I started remembering and I was like “Ohhh, No!
