A Florida middle school teacher has been arrested due to an allegedly inappropriate relationship with one of her 14-year old students. According to Volusia County Sheriff’s Department, Stephanie Peterson Ferri was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious battery, along with one count of transmission of harmful materials to a minor. The details behind these charges are pretty gross. Authorities say the 26-year old science teacher at New Smyrna Beach Middle School started a sexual relationship with an eighth grader in November. Police were alerted to this sordid situation on Tuesday, February 27 after the student (who is a minor and therefore unnamed in this report) told his parents about these naked encounters. The young teenager told officials that the relationship began after Peterson sent him a bunch of naked photos of herself. It was then taken further when the two would start meeting late at night, with Peterson picking up her sexual prey at his home around 11 p.m. on various nights and dropping him back off around 1 a.m. Police also allege that Peterson bought this individual marijuana and smoking pipes. View Slideshow: 31 Teachers 2 Hot 4 Students At one point, the victim’s grades started to slip as a result of this romance, which only prompted Peterson to tell him that he couldn’t tell anyone about what was going on, lest they get in major trouble. But the 14-year old finally realized that only his teacher would actually get in trouble for her misdeeds. Peterson was arrested yesterday and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail. She is being held on a $25,000 bond. As you can see below, this case has elicited quite the range of emotions and reactions on Facebook. Some people think Peterson is disgusting, others think the young man was anything but a victim in this situation. Here’s a look at the wide range of responses: Peterson reportedly began teaching as a substitute teacher in this same school district in 2010, prior to becoming a full-time teacher in August of 2013. She started teaching at New Smyrna Beach Middle School three years later. School district spokesperson Nancy Wait says that Peterson resigned on Monday for “personal reasons.” Per the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page: Detectives are asking parents to talk to their kids, and anyone with information about any additional potential victims is asked to contact the VCSO Child Exploitation Unit at 386-323-3574.
The Little Couple is one of several reality series that follow the lives of little people, showing the viewers at home that little people are so much more than jesters and background actors and comedic relief. But when will Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein and their precious children return from this lengthy hiatus? There’s good news on that front, folks. Last year, new episodes of The Little Couple premiered in September. At the time, the reality series was marred by a scandal of sorts — but one that thankfully (refreshingly, even) did not involve the stars. The point of contention — and lawsuit — was between Discovery Communications and the show’s production company, LMNO Productions. Discovery alleged that LMNO was extorting money out of them by falsifying production costs on The Little Couple in order to pocket more money and cheat profit participants out of their fair shares. LMNO accused Discovery of engaging in a criminal conspiracy to steal multiple shows that they produce out from under them. It was shaping up to be a nasty court battle, and left fans and viewers wondering when it would ever end. However, Variety reports that Discovery Communications and LMNO Productions have settled their lawsuit . “LMNO and Discovery have reached an amicable settlement of the claims between them in the litigation.” it’s important to note that LMNO said that their alleged accounting discrepancies were due to the embezzlement by one accountant. “The settlement resolves all claims and issues that were asserted in the case between LMNO and Discovery to the mutual satisfaction of both parties.” But they’re not going to share any details. “The terms remain confidential, and the parties have agreed to make no further comment regarding the settlement agreement.” We’ll always be left to wonder what went down, it seems. So … where does this leave The Little Couple ? It looks like they’re back in business. In fact, with their legal troubles behind them, it seems likely that The Little Couple — the titular couple and their adorable adopted children — will be back on the air before you know it. Perhaps even within the next few months. After all, even while the show was on hiatus, their lives continued. Last year, Jen and Bill moved to Florida. Dr. Jen Arnold is a neonatologist. For a long time, the couple lived in Houston, Texas — and of course they added their voices to the call for hurricane relief in the devastating wake of last year’s storms. Now that they’re in Florida, fans and viewers will likely get to see the two of them raising their children. Will is 7 years old. Zoey is 5 years old. Both of them are adopted and both of them are also little people, and we’re not just saying that because they’re children. Some “fans” have made terrible comments under a couple of photos of Zoey, implying that she hates the move to Florida or that she has “emotional issues” because she doesn’t always smile in pictures. (For the record, she smiles plenty ) There are some folks among every group of fans who seem prepared to ruin it all for everyone. All things considered, adjusting to life in Florida won’t be a major hurdle for this family. Several years ago, Dr. Jen found that she had a rare form of cancer and had to endure chemotherapy treatments. She did, however, go into remission. Fans are eager to see the family continue its journey and tell their story on their television screens, and Jen has confirmed over social media that they’ve been filming. “Tunnel Vision” Rapper Jailed Following Last Month’s Gun & Drug Bust Kodak Black is griping that the state is taking its sweet time to indict him after his gun and drug bust last month. The Florida rapper’s lawyer filed court docs Friday asking a judge for a special hearing to raise the possibility of springing him from lockup, after prosecutors let the three week window to formally charge him expire. Kodak Black – whose real name is Dieuson Octave – has been held without bail since his arrest Jan. 18. He is facing charges of gun possession, drug possession and child neglect after a police raid on his home, where cops found weed and a stolen gun – all in the presence of a toddler, according to the police report. He was ordered held without bail. Bradford Cohen, Kodak Black’s lawyer, said in court papers that the rapper has now languished in jail for 22 days without being formally charged, which entitles him to a “preliminary adversary hearing” where he can raise the issue of whether there’s enough evidence to keep him behind bars.
