SMH. You know it’s about to be the holiday shopping season when people are getting so dumb and desperate that they would really think that it was a good idea to buy an an iPad from some random shady stranger in a gas station parking lot…. Police are warning that fake iPads are being sold in parking lots across the nation. Officers in Georgia and Florida have contacted Grand Prairie, Texas detective Alex Chasteen after seeing reports on scammers he helped bust. “I have leads from Florida to Georgia to Mississippi,” Chasteen said. “I recently got a call out of Atlanta, where a detective saw the piece that had been done earlier with NBC 5.” The Atlanta officer is working on more than 30 incidents of people duped into buying fake iPads. The thieves typically park in gas station parking lots and then approach people asking if they’re interested in buying an iPad. Often, they show a real iPad to the victims at first. When they convince a victim to make a purchase, they then pull a FedEx box out of a car trunk that contains what looks like an iPad in bubble wrap. When the victims open the box later, they find a Plexiglas frame covered in black duct tape with an Apple symbol on the back and Best Buy price labeling on the front. Man, slanging fake iPads in gas station parking lots will certainly get you caught for sure. Source

She was NOT fawkin’ around!!! Florida woman was arrested after allegedly attacking her father because he wouldn’t give her potato salad. Flagler County authorities charged Karen Henry with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for the Oct. 22 incident. According to police reports obtained by CBS Tampa, Henry became enraged when her 80-year-old father told her that she could not have any of his potato salad while he was eating dinner. Henry then grabbed a large kitchen knife, threatening her father with it. She waved the knife at him several times. According to the report, the elderly man grabbed a chair to defend himself so he could call authorities. Police say that while they were transporting Henry, she began complaining of abdominal pain. After her treatment at Florida Hospital Flagler, deputies overheard her on the phone asking her father to drop the charges. Another charge of tampering with a victim was added against her. But little did she know that her brother’s two-week trip to Canada would result in a 43-page bill for more than $201,000. “I was freaking out. I was shaking, crying, I couldn’t even talk that much on the phone. I was like my life is over!” The woman tells WSVN-TV about her reaction to the mammoth bill. Apparently what had happened was that her brother had not turned the data roaming off on his phone during his trip to Canada. More than 2,000 texts and a number of downloaded videos later and — at $10/megabyte — you end up with a phone bill larger than many mortgages. While T-Mobile says it sent several texts to the brother alerting him of the rates, the sister believes she should have been given a heads-up at some point before things got into six-digit territory. “Wouldn’t you let me know as the primary holder and they are saying no we respect your privacy. What privacy? That is my account,” she says. Though it had no obligation to do so, T-Mobile eventually decided to slash the bill to $2,500 and gave the customer six months to pay off that amount. $201,005.44 to be exact. That’s crazy!! Source

DAYUUUUUUM! No wonder Chris Tucker has been back on the road doing stand-up. The residuals from Friday and Rush Hour must not have been enough to cover his whopping $25K monthly mortgage payments! According to PEOPLE reports: Rush Hour star Chris Tucker’s $6 million Florida mansion is in foreclosure, with more than $4.4 million owed to the bank, reports the Orlando Sentinel, citing papers filed in Circuit Court in Lake County. Tucker, 39, bought the 10,000-sq.-ft. waterfront home on Lake Apopka, near Orlando, in 2007. The newspaper says the residence contains five bedrooms, three fireplaces, a personal spa, an outdoor kitchen overlooking a pool, and a basement outfitted to resemble a pirate ship, including the sail. Court documents reportedly show an $11.5 million IRS lien on the home in 2011 in order to collect federal income taxes from Tucker, whose monthly mortgage payment, the documents also show, was $25,812.50. There has been no comment from Tucker, but the Times Union of Albany, N.Y., reports that his comedy show scheduled in the city for this Sunday – and was a rescheduling of a postponed Sept. 3 performance – has been canceled because of “unforeseen circumstances.” Damn shame… This just goes to show, it’s hard out here for everybody. But at the same time, what was this dude doing buying a home with a $25K mortgage in 2007??? Keep in mind when you are buying these crazy cribs you will also be spending a fortune on maintenance and TAXES. And Uncle Same don’t play! Good luck with this bad situation Smokey.

ATL rap legend Big Boi has reached a deal on Florida drug charges that allows him to avoid jail time. The Associated Press reports that the OutKast rapper appeared in a Miami courtroom today as prosecutors outlined the deal. Big Boi (born Antwan Patton) will have to undergo three months of drug testing, perform community service and pay $2,000 in donations to charities. As we previously reported, Big Boi was arrested getting off a cruise ship in August after police discovered the rapper was carrying ecstasy, a cigarette roller with marijuana residue and the ecstasy ingredient MDMA. Big Boi had faced two felony drug charges. If he remains drug-free after three months of testing, those charges will be dismissed. Read more here. That was fast! Apparently Scarlett Johansson has some pull over at the FBI (or maybe just some peter-pullers), because the bureau announced this morning that they have made an arrest in the high-profile phone hacking case dubbed Operation Hackerazzi . While a group of hackers has claimed responsibility for the recent rash of leaked celebrity nudes (The pics aren’t the only thing that’s leaked, amirite fellas?), the FBI says the perp was a lone wolf, a Florida resident who never saw a cent from the pictures. But oh, the things he DID see… The FBI also clarified that they’ve actually been probing the case for over a year, and although they zeroed in on the suspect months ago, the U.S. Attorney didn’t take action until recently- after Scarlett Johansson’s bare buns got involved.
