Like Soulja ‘s music career was really an accident, eh? Soulja Boy Exposes Himself Via The Sun : The Crank That star, 22, uploaded a snap of himself pulling up his T-shirt to expose his bare belly and his privates on his Tumblr account yesterday. But after apparently realizing his mishap, he removed the image and took to his page again to apologize. He wrote: “I apologize to ever seen that, accident.” Guess this is what happens when your album goes cotton and beefs with other rappers are endless yawnfests. Might be time to hang it up?
Guess all those racist comments about ‘us black folks’ only voting for other black candidates isn’t that true after all. According to The Huffington Post , Mia Love lost to her Democratic counterpart by only 3,000 votes. Mia Love conceded in a hotly contested congressional race against incumbent Rep. Jim Matheson (D) in Utah’s 2nd congressional district. Love, a rising star in the Republican party who had a prominent speaking role during August’s party convention, was narrowly defeated, Fox-13 reports. According to The Hill, Love lost by fewer than 3,000 votes. Dayum. After all of the Republican money fed into her campaign, we wonder why people in Utah rejected her?? Images via WENN
Barack won before Ohio, Virgina, and Florida’s votes even came in tonight! With his voice strong but quivering with passion, Barack gave a heartfelt speech after a long night of waiting for the electoral votes to come in. POTUS let us know that “The role of citizens of our democracy does not end with your vote” after he thanked US ALL for campaigning and voting during the last few months. According to The Huffington Post : President Barack Obama did not just win reelection tonight. His victory signaled the irreversible triumph of a new, 21st-century America: multiracial, multi-ethnic, global in outlook and moving beyond centuries of racial, sexual, marital and religious tradition. Obama, the mixed-race son of Hawaii by way of Kansas, Indonesia, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, won reelection in good part because he not only embodied but spoke to that New America, as did the Democratic Party he leads. His victorious coalition spoke for and about him: a good share of the white vote (about 45 percent in Ohio, for example); 70 percent or so of the Latino vote across the country, according to experts; 96 percent of the African-American vote; and large proportions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The Republican Party, by contrast, has been reduced to a rump parliament of Caucasian traditionalism: white, married, church-going — to oversimplify only slightly. “It’s a catastrophe,” said GOP strategist Steve Schmidt. “This is, this will have to be, the last time that the Republican Party tries to win this way.” The GOP chose as its standard-bearer Mitt Romney, whose own Mormon Church until recent decades discriminated officially against blacks. His campaign made little serious effort to reach out to Hispanics voters, and Romney hurt himself by taking far-right positions on immigration during the GOP primaries. He made no effort whatsoever in the black community. Obama reached out not only racially and ethnically, but in terms of lifestyle. Analysts made fun of, and Republicans derided, his campaign’s focus on discrete demographic and social slices of the electorate, including gays and lesbians. But the message was one about the future, not the American past. U.S. Census numbers tell the story. In the first decade of the new millennium, the Asian-American population rose 43.3 percent, the African-American population 12.3 percent, the Latino community 43 percent — and the white population just 5.7 percent. To be sure, the president won because of his stand on the issues — health care reform, Wall Street regulation, the auto industry bailout, among others. But his victory is something more: a sense that we are all in this together as a society, no matter who we are or how we live our lives. I saw this new America at the heart of the Obama reelection effort, in their campaign offices. In one office in Virgina, for example, the local campaign manager was Pakistani-American, the volunteers were of every race and background, the people heading out to handle the signup drive were Hispanic, and the event they were working on was a concert by Bruce Springsteen. Not only did Barack and his mayne man Joe win the electoral vote, they also won the popular vote too. While Mitt won the white vote (SMH), he failed to bring in votes with minorities. Barack also brought in votes from more than 60% of young voters (those ages 18-29) and, even though he fell from 44% to 39% of the overall white vote this election year, he still stomped Robney with a huge lead. To quote CNN “This is a crisis amongst the Republican Party”. Crisis or not, we’re pretty sure POUTUS can get a lot more isht done than Mittens would’ve been able to over the course of the next four years. Images via facebook
This piece of isht doesn’t even have an argument to make in court … According to NBC News : DeMarco Myles, 19, wrote down his first name and cell phone number for a 19-year-old Howard University student after he allegedly raped her in her room at Bethune annex, an all-women’s dorm, Friday afternoon. Police tracked the number to a Fourth Street NW address where Myles lives with his mother and arrested him. The first attack took place in a Rhode Island Row apartment Oct. 26 in Northeast D.C. The victim, a 24-year-old consultant, was working from home when she got a knock at the door about 2 p.m. by a man who said he was promoting a party. He forced his way in to her apartment before allegedly trying to kill her. She said she screamed at the top of her lungs and fought back as he kicked and beat her and stabbed her at least 25 times. The Howard student told police the suspect appeared in her room and made casual conversation about 1:15 p.m. Friday, one week after the first attack. She told him to get out, but he didn’t. She began texting a friend, and the suspect pulled out brass knuckles with a purple blade, grabbed the victim’s phone, texted the victim’s friend and then raped the victim, according to court documents. Then he allegedly wrote the note, saying, “Since you don’t know me, here’s my number.” He tried to cross out the phone number, according to court documents, but detectives were able to read it. A man matching Myles’s description entered other rooms at Bethune but left when asked, detectives learned. Myles told detectives that the sex with the Howard student was consensual, but he admitted forcing his way in to the Rhode Island Row apartment and stabbing her after she resisted, according to court documents. He asked detectives if she survived, saying he didn’t mean to kill anyone. Thoughts go out to the victim and we can only hope this disgusting kid gets a reality check in prison soon!! Images via nbc
He said he didn’t care if you were voting for Obama or Mittens… he just wanted to make sure those affected by Sandy were able to vote. According to TMZ : Rapper The Game isn’t letting New Yorkers use Hurricane Sandy as an excuse not to vote today — in fact, he tells TMZ, he’s already shelled out $10,000 to 500 voters stranded by the storm … in order to help them make it to the polls. Game tells us, the money was intended to help voters who were hit hard by last week’s disaster to pay for gas or another form of transportation in order to cast their ballot. And get this — Game says he’s so committed to the cause … he even helped shuttle people to the polls in his own car. By the way, Game … who lives in LA, says he voted by absentee ballot — and claims he’s not doing this to influence people to vote for President Obama. He says O doesn’t need the help. What do you think about celebs stepping in during election time?? Images via TMZ
The controversy over Zoe Saldana being cast as Nina Simone continues to rage on and this time it’s India.Arie speaking about the role many feel she should have played! Via NinaSimone.com WHAT I FEEL ABOUT THE NINA SIMONE MOVIE: People have been asking me for weeks, months, years about a Nina Simone movie, when I heard about Zoe Saldana being cast I reserved judgement, you NEVER know what People are MEANT to do. SO TODAY I saw the images of Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone… AND I THINK THEY ARE RIDICULOUS! Yes there should be a movie made, and YES they should have chosen someone who LOOKS like Nina Simone, ESPECIALLY since her RACE played such a PIVOTAL role in WHO, WHAT and WHY, she was. THAT ASIDE for a second, this just looks WEIRD, it looks like a person in Black(er) face with a fake nose … REALLY?!!!! DOES NOT THE ONE NINA SIMONE’S LEGACY DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS? If they were going to pick a person who looks NOTHING like Nina Simone … why not her daughter Simone *shrug* just saying … As hard as Nina had to fight for what she wanted BECAUSE she was black and looked the way she did … THIS looks like a parody. If it has to be FORCED this hard something’s not right! I am VERY opinionated about music, I can dissect VOCALS ALL DAY, I don’t KNOW ACTING LIKE THAT! But I trust that through her obvious admiration of Nina, that Zoe Saldana can pull off the portrayal ENERGETICALLY … But these images … just make me feel … SAD. Not because I want to play Nina Simone but because IT FEELS OUT OF PLACE WITH WHAT NINA SIMONE MEANS IN AN AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORICAL CONTEXT!!!! (yes I yelled just now – I am emotional about OTHER things today, and I’m riding the wave of that, but this IS WHAT I FEEL…) I have always been OPEN to playing Nina, but I never saw its as my RIGHT! I am clearly Nina Simone’s Physical Heir Apparent, THAT doesn’t mean I SHOULD play her, its been tossed around A LOT, for a LONG TIME. I back down because I feel her legacy deserves better than a FIRST TIME MOVIE ACTRESS, I’m like that about my heroes. If I ever FELT I was truly CALLED to play her, I would. And maybe Zoe Saldana REALLY is BEING CALLED SPIRITUALLY TO PLAY THIS ROLE … But I DO NOT LIKE these PICTURES. AT ALL. SEEING Nina Simone changed my life, when I was 17 My cousin and I tried to call her … Whole NOTHER story …. I will END this by saying I think VIOLA DAVIS should be playing Nina Simone Well dayuuuuuum. India went in! Do you agree with her that Viola Davis is the right person for the part? Do you think she was too easy on Zoe Saldana for accepting the role? Discuss! WENN/Retna/FameFlynetPictures
You’ve probably already seen the ‘urgent’ message circulating in your facebook news feed, but reps from the NAACP are saying this isht just isn’t true and is just another tactic being used to confuse voters ! According to The Root : A widely circulated foreboding message purporting to warn supporters of President Obama of an electronic voting “trick” that could exclude their vote for the president if they select only the “All Democrats” option has been debunked by the South Carolina branch of the NAACP. Still, it continues to make the rounds on Facebook and email, spreading confusion that some worry could lead voters in states that allow straight-ticket voting to remove their vote for the office of the president. “PLEASE PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION TO THIS! In the event that you are planning to vote democrat on Nov. 6, when you go into the voting booths, DO NOT SELECT THE BUTTON “all democrats” first because Barack Obama will be excluded from the vote,” a screenshot of a Facebook status attached to one email reads. It goes on to instruct voters to select “Barack Obama” first and then “all democrats” and ends with “People are not being told this information because they are trying every trick in the book.” Not true, says the South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP. The organization has issued a warning to voters: “If a South Carolina voter chooses the straight party option first on our voting machines, the selection box for all candidates of the intended political party will automatically be checked, including the presidential candidate.” The main concern raised by the message is that voters confused by the instructions may touch their presidential selection a second time, which would actually remove their vote for that office, the NAACP told WCBD-TV Charleston in October. Thus, the organization recommends that each voter review all of his or her selections made on the voting machine before pressing the final button to confirm the ballot and asks that anyone who has forwarded the misleading message to others follow up with a message of caution about the advice. South Carolina NAACP President Lonnie Randolph says that he’s not surprised that the misleading information seems to targets the types of ballots used by South Carolina voters. He attributes the effort to a long history of hostility toward African-American political power in his own state that dates back to Reconstruction. He doesn’t know who’s behind it, but he believes that it has already caused confusion, particularly among the state’s more vulnerable citizens. “That’s why we had a press conference. So many people in South Carolina already feel threatened. We have a lot of first-time voters in this election, and the machines are not the simplest thing to deal with. Folks will need some assistance, particularly elderly people,” he said. If this is, in fact, a hoax meant to confuse voters or suppress the votes of Democrats, it’s unfortunately nothing new. Just last month, Think Progress warned of misinformation campaigns, including those telling voters that they can vote by phone, that they are at risk of being purged from the rolls, that they must show identification to vote and more. Randolph told The Root that South Carolina has seen other forms of intimidation and misleading information this election cycle, including employers threatening their employees with layoffs, reduced house, and loss of health insurance if Mitt Romney is not elected, as well as recent e-mails attempting to convince voters that, as result of Hurricane Sandy, the election date has been moved. Okay folks…spread the word and make sure you get your azzes in to the polls tomorrow! This isht is REAL! Images via facebook/WENN
Do you think the NYC Marathon should be cancelled? NYC Marathon Cancelled After days of pressure from runners, politicians and the public to cancel the NYC Marathon in the wake of Hurricane Sandy , city officials and the event’s organizers decided Friday afternoon that the race would not be held Sunday. Via NY Times reports : Workers continued to construct the finish line of the New York City Marathon on Friday. The fallen crane from the One 57 building is seen in the background. Such a move would be historic — the marathon has been held every year since 1970, including the race in 2001 held two months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks — but seemed inevitable as opposition to the marathon swelled. Critics said that it was in poor taste to hold a foot race through the five boroughs while so many people in the area are still suffering from the storm’s damages, and that city services should focus on storm relief, not the marathon. Proponents of the marathon — notably Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Mary Wittenberg, director of the marathon — said the race would provide a needed morale boost, as well as an economic one. Among the many details that remain unclear are whether race would be postponed or canceled entirely and how popular the plan would be among the field of nearly 50,000 runners who were expected to compete in Sunday’s marathon, thousands of whom traveled to New York from other countries. Mayor Bloomberg and Wittenberg, who is chief executive of New York Road Runners, the organization that operates the marathon, repeatedly stood behind the plan, insisting it was best for the city. But many runners joined a chorus of politicians and area residents this week in speaking out against the plan to stage the marathon despite the widespread damage wrought by the storm Monday night. The public has spoken! Do you think it’s fair or foul that the NYC Marathon has been cancelled?
Cotdayum! She really went there !! As much as we all dislike tipping, this broad takes the cake. According to The Daily Mail : A woman has managed to incite a riot on Reddit after she allegedly left the following ‘tip’ after dining at an expensive restaurant: ‘Single mom, sorry.’ The waiter’s friend and fellow server posted a photograph of the receipt, blasting the woman for blaming motherhood for her lack of social graces and general decency add then adding ‘Thank you, it was great’ at the bottom. ‘I’m sure $140 could have gotten you and your kids a week worth of groceries, but instead you spend it one meal?!’ Redditor PhoenixSongFawkes wrote. ‘For shame!’ Many people said that the woman should not have gone out to eat if she couldn’t afford the gratuity. PhoenixSongFawkes said he and his friend get bad tips all the time, but this one really enraged him. ‘The point is, it doesn’t matter if she tipped or not. The point of this post was that her writing ‘sorry single mom’ was unnecessary,’ he wrote. ‘It was to show that someone was ridiculous enough to come into a place, and use the fact that their a single mom to not tip. Then to say everything was great… There are many times we only get a few tables at night. We depend on those big tickets to make money.’ He also called the note ‘insulting’ and ‘disrespectful,’ especially coming from someone who claims to live on a budget and should understand the plight of the waiter, who makes little more than $2 an hour. We all know some triflin’ people but this just makes us feel bad for her kids! Images via Reddit
