Killer Mike Says The Democrats Use Black Community Killer Mike is fed up! The Atlanta MC recently sat down with The Grio to discuss the recent political climate. According to Mike, the black community hasn’t really gotten the fair end of deal within the Democratic party. The Run The Jewels rapper made a very public run to help Bernie Sanders during the election but was burned by how the Dems treated the black community… Supporting Sanders left him with an even more bitter taste for the Democratic Party, which black people have overwhelmingly followed for decades now. “What has happened in the last 50 to 60 years of being Democrats,” he says, “is we’ve become almost like a neglected wife. We’re faithful. We vote over 80 to 90 percent Democratic and the larger party seems to care nothing about us. “Everyone brags that unemployment is down to 5 percent but that’s not true among African-American men,” he continues. “It’s not true among African-American youth, but we aren’t holding the feet to the fire of the people that we’re voting for.” What can the Democratic party do for you? Frank Ocean Claps Back At Grammy Producers And Taylor Swift Goes Down In The Crossfire Go ahead and crown Frank Ocean the Clapback King. The Blonde singer has been outspoken about his decision to skip the 2017 Grammy’s . When the public learned he opted not to submit his music for nomination , he told the NY Times “the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated.” Ocean added, “I’d rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience.” Colin Kaepernick eh? In any case, the trouble all started this time around when Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich and writer David Wild went on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast to promote this year’s show and address controversy. Being that the big controversy this year is all these “URBAN” artists skipping the show — of course they were asked about it. Wild responded by specifically calling out Frank’s awkward 2013 “Forrest Gump” performance: “Frank had a very definite idea of exactly what he wanted to do and how he wanted to do it,” Wild said. “Ken said, that’s not great TV, and what he’s taught all of us is, ‘We’re not putting on a radio show … you have to make it a TV moment.’ And he knew from the start that that was not one of those moments.” Ouch. And if that’s not bad enough — Ehrlich added that Ocean was “rigid” about his concept: “and we executed his vision knowing that it was faulty. And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that. So, his feelings about the Grammys right now, I would imagine, probably go back to that in one way. But honestly, it wasn’t us.” So yeah, as you can imagine, Frank had some things to say in response. He took to his Tumblr to air it all out. After conceding that his 2013 performance was “absolute sh**” he claps back directly at Ehrlich and Wild’s comments. New Study Shows That Black People Have Bias Against Black Hair Do you love your natural hair ? A new study claims that all people, including black folks, hold an implicit bias against the types and styles of natural hair worn by black people. According to NPR , The “Good Hair Study” was conducted by Perception Institute , known within the research community as “a consortium of researchers, advocates and strategists” that uses emotional and psychological research to identify and reduce bias in areas such as law enforcement, education, civil justice and the workplace. The hair study resulted from a partnership with Shea Moisture to better understand the link of implicit and black textured coils. Researchers asked over 4,000 participants to take an online test, which involved rapidly-changing pictures of black women with permed hair then black women with more natural hair. The study showed that most people, including blacks, have an implicit bias towards women of color based on their hair. But the results of the test show that the bias can be unlearned. Some key findings confirm that black women suffer more anxiety around hair issues, and spend more on hair care than their white peers. They are almost twice as likely to experience social pressure at work to straighten their hair compared to white women. The study also concludes that “White women demonstrate the strongest bias — both explicit and implicit — against textured hair.” They rated it as “less beautiful,” “less sexy/attractive” and “less professional than smooth hair.” However, white women who are in contact with black women naturalistas demonstrated lower levels of bias. Given that white women make up a large majority of the 38 percent of female managers who decide what looks are appropriate for work, legal conflicts sometimes ensue. What do you think of the study? Larenz Tate Gets Recurring Role On Season Four Of Power ‘House of Lies’ and legendary black star Larenz Tate has landed a major recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of Starz’s hit drama series Power. According to Deadline , the actor will play Councilman Rashad Tate, a city offcial from Jamaica Queens.
