3 Lies About Premarital Sex [Opinion]

Read the original:

Vice and sin are sexy. Character and virtue… not so much. Last week there was an article about sex on the first date: SURVEY: Sex On The First Date; Do You? It started me to thinking and reading all the comments. Have we just given in  to what society has been selling us for the last 40 years. Sorry to say the Sexual Revolution came in and left us with one big mess.  It has let those of us with virtue be scorned. Character  is being erased. But where’s the line between them? What exactly is a virtue? Can it be taught? Are good, and bad, behavior hard-wired in us? Do we naturally need to experiment with every whim that crosses our fancy in order to determine who we are? You see less and less character as  you watch grown women throw themselves away on National television.  It’s become my new crusade to blow the lid off these half truths.   I am no prude but we need to stop selling the lies. They are destroying our communities.  It begins by stopping these three lies  first. Lie #1- The Scriptures on sexual purity are outdated and archaic . “Those parts of the Bible aren’t relevant to today. Those things were when  the people during that time got married when they were teens; so they didn’t have to struggle with sexual temptation like we do now.” 1 Corinthians 6:9, 2 Corinthians 12:21, Galatians 5:19, Hebrews 13:4 and Deuteronomy 22:13-28, all which condemn sex before marriage,  If sex before marriage is okay because people supposedly can’t control themselves, then it must be okay to engage in pornography, too, right?. If scriptures in the Bible became untrue because people can’t control their desires, then we’d also have to cut out the commandments on stealing, lying, cheating and having affairs. Lie # 2- Sex produces intimacy that you need to build a relationship. Dr. Patricia Love, the author of The Truth About Love, writes that a feeling of intimacy is created by a “chemical cocktail” that is produced in the brain during sex and stays with each person for up to 24 hours after intercourse. On the flip side, having sex is no guarantee that the deep emotional intimacy that everyone longs for will develop. “Genital sex is an expression of intimacy, not the means to intimacy. True intimacy springs from verbal and emotional communion. True intimacy is built on a commitment to honesty, love and freedom. True intimacy is not primarily a sexual encounter. Intimacy, in fact, has almost nothing to do with our sex organs. A prostitute may expose her body, but her relationships are hardly intimate.” Lie # 3 – Sex can help you determine compatibility? Many people feel it is unreasonable to expect him to abstain from sex before marriage because no one would buy a car without test driving it; so he couldn’t imagine committing to marriage without taking a “sex test drive.” The  “test drive” mentality could lead you to unreal expectations and the lack of commitment. Many say that is untrue. However, the logic is faulty. Here’s why: If it was true that  a person wouldn’t struggle with comparison, why would you need to “test drive” anything? After all, if you didn’t ever have multiple partners, you would automatically think his wife the best. For example, the man who hasn’t ever seen or driven more than one car doesn’t know what other cars are like; therefore he would be satisfied with his automobile. Partners can also feel threatened if they think their mate could be comparing them with previous partners. The reality is that we live in a dangerous damaged world. Each day we are fed more and more lies that allow us to lower are standards. How far are you willing to lower yours to feel like everyone else? It is time we rethought all the things we have been sold as truth. Why must any more of us suffer from “is she better, or is she great disease”? But it can be hard to truly gauge the potential depth of a sexual connection when there’s uncertainty or pressure involved. Fact is, sex is the place where all the separate parts of us – our bodies and souls, our vulnerabilities and most secret desires, our ability to create physical and spiritual life – come together. And it’s within the freedom of a commitment that these things can best be acknowledged, explored, and given space to run wild. Otherwise we are just falling short of what we could have. Lindsey Graham: ‘Free Speech is a Great Idea but We are At War’

See the rest here:

It appears Lindsey Graham is a bit confused about what ‘Freedom’ means. It is not something you turn on and off when it suits you and it is EXACTLY what our Men and Woman in uniform are putting their lives at risk for….FREEDOM. The Qur’an burning wasn’t necessarily smart or in good taste but to say that at times of War Freedom of speech should be put on hold is very disturbing. Inspired By Egypt, The People Of Lybia Ask Moammar Khadafy To Give Them Free

The uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia have inspired a few more uprisings by oppressed people elsewhere in Africa and the Middle East. Unfortunately, as motivated as the people are, in each country the desire for freedom is bringing the same thing: violence. Dozens of protesters were killed in clashes with Libyan security forces in the nation’s second-largest city Saturday as protests against eccentric dictator Moammar Khadafy stretched into a fifth day. The worst uprisings in Khadafy’s 42 years of power continued as government snipers killed 15 mourners attending the funerals of slain protesters in Benghazi. But a witness said the death toll was much higher. “Dozens were killed…not 15, dozens. We are in the midst of a massacre here,” the witness said. The government also cut off Internet access across the nation, blocking the anti-Khadafy protesters from posting photos and video. Human rights officials estimate the death toll in the demonstrations has now hit 84 as the Khadafy regime lashes out at its opponents. A similar scene played out on the streets of Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, where one demonstrator was shot to death and five wounded during protests against President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Protesters, now in the 10th day of demonstrations, are demanding Saleh’s resignation after 32 years under his rule. Between all the death and destruction of protest, we just hope these people are able to enjoy their freedom once they finally get it. Source

Bradley Manning’s Health is Deteriorating

As Julian Assange emerged from his nine-day imprisonment, there were renewed concerns about the physical and psychological health of Bradley Manning, the former US intelligence analyst suspected of leaking the diplomatic cables at the centre of the storm. Manning, who was arrested seven months ago, is being held at a military base in Virginia and faces a court martial and up to 52 years in prison for his alleged role in copying the cables. His friends and supporters also claim they have been the target of extra-judicial harassment, intimidation and outright bribery by US government agents. According to David House, a computer researcher from Boston who visits Manning twice a month, he is starting to deteriorate. “Over the last few weeks I have noticed a steady decline in his mental and physical wellbeing,” he said. “His prolonged confinement in a solitary holding cell is unquestionably taking its toll on his intellect; his inability to exercise due to [prison] regulations has affected his physical appearance in a manner that suggests physical weakness.” Manning, House added, was no longer the characteristically brilliant man he had been, despite efforts to keep him intellectually engaged. He also disputed the authorities' claims that Manning was being kept in solitary for his own good. “I initially believed that his time in solitary confinement was a decision made in the interests of his safety,” he said. “As time passed and his suicide watch was lifted, to no effect, it became clear that his time in solitary – and his lack of a pillow, sheets, the freedom to exercise, or the ability to view televised current events – were enacted as a means of punishment rather than a means of safety.” More at the link… added by: jubal

GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert: Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Threatens American ‘Existence’

In the heat of the debate over the “don't ask, don't tell” repeal bill, which was eventually passed by the House Wednesday by a 250 to 175 margin, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) delivered a floor speech railing against overturning the military protocol on the grounds that allowing gay servicemembers to serve openly would be a threat to America's “existence.” Here are his comments, via ThinkProgress: GOHMERT: To my friend who said that history would judge us poorly, I would submit if you would look thoroughly at history — and I'm not saying it's cause and effect — but when militaries throughout history of the greatest nations in the world have adopted the policy that “fine for homosexuality to be overt” — you can keep it private and control your hormones fine, if you can't, that's fine too — they're toward the end of their existence as a great nation. Gohmert also strangely argued that the military was necessarily, and by its very nature, “inconsistent with American values.” “It does not have freedom of speech, it does not have freedom of assembly, it does not have the freedom to express its love to those in the military the way you can out here, because it's an impediment to the military mission,” Gohmert said, implying that the survey gauging the sentiments of soldiers was misleading because it had forced certain responses from respondents. The truth of the matter, Gohmert contended, was that the military would lose hundreds and probably thousands of soldiers who would not reenlist if DADT was annulled, but they wouldn't admit this in a forum that could be seen by their superiors. Though Defense Secretary Robert Gates and the Joint Chiefs of Staff have urged caution in overturning the ban on openly gay servicemembers — a course of action that they have nonetheless endorsed — they have also backed the results of the troop survey, saying that it proves that there would be a “low overall risk of repeal.” The DADT bill now heads to the Senate for a vote, where it is believed by some to have the support to pass and send to the president for signing. added by: TimALoftis
