Russell Crowe Rescued By Coast Guard After Kayaking "Grand Adventure"

Russell Crowe had to be bailed out by the U.S. Coast Guard over the weekend after a kayaking trip went wrong off the coast of New York’s Long Island. The star, who is in the area filming Darren Aronofsky’s Noah , launched from Cold Spring Harbor Saturday afternoon, but got lost at sea as it grew dark. Crowe and a friend managed to make their way to shore, beaching their kayaks in Huntington Bay, nearly 10 miles east from where they had set out. The coast guard was patrolling the area and heard the 48-year-old calling out around 10 p.m. Crowe and his friend were brought to Huntington Harbor. “It wasn’t really a rescue,” a Coast Guard spokesman said. “Really, more of just giving someone a lift.” The men were wearing life vests and uninjured. Crowe Tweeted at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, “Thanks to Seth and the boys from the US Coast Guard for guiding the way… 4 hrs 30 mins, 7m (11.2km).” And he later expounded, writing, “We knew where exactly where we were, paddling around from csh into wind, we ran out of day. Lady Gaga Shows Off New Tattoo

Lady Gaga is showing off her freshest ink to her Little Monsters. Having previously seen Gaga’s ARTPOP tattoo (an allusion to her new album title), fans were treated to the first look at the newest tattoo on the singer, who is still promoting 2011’s smash Born This Way in Europe. Gaga captioned the pic below: “New Tat. Stamp of His Mermaid.” The 26-year-old Mother Monster later added, “Thanks Hank and @amstattoomuseum for my New Ink!! V/H/S Poster: The Sundance Horror Hit is Coming This Fall

The horror anthology V/H/S was one of the freshest genre discoveries to come out of Sundance ’12 , and this fall it finally arrives in theaters and on VOD. Revel in the found-footage conceit — done particularly well here, spanning short segments by the likes of Adam Wingard, Ti West , Joe Swanberg , and more filmmakers to keep on your radar — with a look at the official poster, itself a clever, cryptic spin on the old hand-marked VHS tapes some folks still have lurking in dusty closets and basements. Of course, most vintage mystery tapes don’t house footage of untold horrors like the ones “documented” in V/H/S — I hope. Over the course of six segments (tied together by a set-up about a gang of punks tasked with breaking into a house) surprises abound, which I’ll leave for you to discover. Head to Movies.com for the poster premiere, where you can view a high-res version of the poster and pore over the meaning of each VHS label in the design… which reveals far more dated tapes than what is shown in the film.
