What rhymes with sue me? Robin Thicke Sues Marvin Gaye’s Family Via Consequence of Sound : Robin Thicke ’s song of the summer, “Blurred Lines”, certainly shares a sound and style similar to Marvin Gaye’s “Got to Give It Up” and Funkadelic’s “Sexy Ways”, but is it enough to warrant copyright infringement? Both Gaye’s family and Bridgeport Music, which owns the right to Funkadelic’s music, seem to to think so and have threatened suit against Thicke and contributors Pharrell Williams and T.I., aka. Clifford Harris, Jr. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thicke, Pharrell, and T.I. have sought to preempt a possible lawsuit by filing one of their own against Gaye’s family and Bridgeport. “Plaintiffs, who have the utmost respect for and admiration of Marvin Gaye, Funkadelic and their musical legacies, reluctantly file this action in the face of multiple adverse claims from alleged successors in interest to those artists. Defendants continue to insist that plaintiffs’ massively successful composition, ‘Blurred Lines,’ copies ‘their’ compositions,” the suit reads. “But there are no similarities between plaintiffs’ composition and those the claimants allege they own, other than commonplace musical elements. Plaintiffs created a hit and did it without copying anyone else’s composition.” FWIW: In an interview with GQ back in June, Thicke called “Got to Give It Up” “one of his favorite songs”. He said he told Pharrell, “‘Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove.’” Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it. The whole thing was done in a couple hours—normally, those are the best ones.” Compare “Blurred Lines” to Gaye’s “Give It Up” and Funkadelic’s “Sexy Ways” next!
Rolling Stone’s Dzhokhar Tsarnaev cover story has inspired an ever-growing list of boycotts among retail outlets, including now by 7-Eleven stores. The chain is joining the outrage at Rolling Stone , which put Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover with a piece on his life leading up to the Boston bombing. A rep for 7-Eleven, Inc. says that it “will not sell the August 1 issue of the Rolling Stone magazine” inside any of its 1,700 company-operated stores. There are another 5,900 franchised stores, and the rep says they’ll also urge those franchise owners to pull the issue spotlighting the alleged terrorist. CVS, Walgreens, and Stop & Shop have also boycotted the issue. What do you think of the controversial Rolling Stone cover? Why not? He’s topical and interesting … What a disgrace. View Poll »

George Zimmerman Fears For His Life After Being Found Not Guilty George Zimmerman feels he’s marked for death and needs to be packing heat and wearing body armor. According to CNN: His GPS monitor has been cut off and George Zimmerman, legally, can go anywhere he wants. But his family and his lawyers say he’s hardly free. Zimmerman fears for his life. He’s a reviled figure to millions, despite his acquittal Saturday night in Trayvon Martin’s killing. And he could still be held criminally liable for Martin’s death. Zimmerman’s attorney describes him as a marked man. “He has to be very cautious and protective of his safety because there is still a fringe element who have said … that they will not listen to a verdict of not guilty,” said Mark O’Mara. Zimmerman, 29, has kept his address under wraps for more than a year and worn a disguise whenever he left his four walls. He has often strapped on body armor, according to O’Mara. And he may feel the need to be armed. When asked by CNN whether Zimmerman will keep the gun used in the killing, his brother, Robert Zimmerman, said, “I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t. “I think he has more reason now than ever to think that people are trying to kill him because they express they’re trying to kill him, all the time, every day, on my Twitter feed, on the Internet.” Zimmerman, married with no children, may leave Florida and choose to lead a life in the shadows — like Casey Anthony, the Florida woman acquitted of killing her 2-year-old daughter in 2008. With the state criminal case over, George Zimmerman could now face new criminal charges. The federal government could file a civil rights suit, accusing him of violating 17-year-old Martin’s civil rights. Those who defend Zimmerman say he will struggle for the rest of his life over what happened, despite his contention that it was in self-defense. “In his religious beliefs, death by any definition is a tragedy,” Robert Zimmerman told CNN’s Piers Morgan. “So he has moral things that he’s going to have to deal with, and emotional and psychological hurdles he’s going to have to overcome.” Those who believe he should be in jail for murder are quick to point out that Martin lost his life, and say there should be no tears shed for any struggles Zimmerman may face. Really?? Fawk George Zimmerman’s morals and “struggles”…there is a DEAD CHILD whose family needs justice. R.I.P. Trayvon.
Do unto others as they would do unto you… Pharrell Is Counter Suing Will.I.Am For Copyright Infringement Claims According to TMZ reports : Will.i.am … Will.iam … Pharrell doesn’t like that Will.i.am … and now he’s suing the Black Eyed Peas rapper in what’s becoming a pretty nasty trademark war … which now involves Dr. Seuss, TMZ has learned. Pharrell — who’s featured on TWO mega-hits right now (“Get Lucky” & “Blurred Lines”) — recently launched a YouTube channel called I Am Other … and he’s pissed that Will.i.am is trying to block him from using the name. Why? According to Pharrell, Will has already sent him a cease and desist letter informing P that he owns the rights to all things with an “I Am” element … and warned Pharrell to back down or else. Pharrell didn’t run scared … he ran to court … and SUED Will — in an effort to stop Will from stopping him. In the suit, filed in federal court in NY and obtained by TMZ, Pharrell argues that they are each using “I Am” in completely different ways. Pharrell says Will is using the “I Am” is a Seussian way — as a playfull riff on his own name — and to hammer home his point, he quotes from Green Eggs and Ham: “Sam I am I am Sam I am Sam Sam I am” Pharrell continues in his suit, “In contrast, the I Am Other mark means ‘I am something else,’ leaving what that ‘else’ is to the imagination of the consumer. It certainly does not mean ‘I am Will.’” Sounds like ol’ Willie Will is in for a fight that he probably won’t win. Couldn’t these two just have easily talked this out? In his personal life, it’s rather clear that Justin Bieber has found somebody to love once again: Selena Gomez . In his professional life, however, the global superstar and his very good friend are now in legal trouble for allegedly NOT having somebody to love before Devin Copeland came along. Allow us to explain… Somebody to Love Copeland has filed a $10 million lawsuit against Bieber and Usher , claiming that the duo infringed on his copyright when releasing the 2010 smash single. Copeland and writing partner Mareio Overton say they brought their track to Usher in 2008 and that he outright stole it when he helped to include it on Bieber’s “My World 2.0.” “Without any authority or consent,” the suit states, “[Manager Jonetta Patton] and Usher conspired with songwriters and producers…to directly copy Plaintiffs’ song ‘Somebody to Love,’ intending to appropriate Plaintiffs’ intellectual property as their own.” Overton supposedly heard Bieber’s version of the song on the radio, called Copeland about it and the complaints started from there. The duo is seeking $10 million in damages for copyright infringement, contributory infringement and vicarious infringement, along with a permanent injunction preventing Bieber and Usher from claiming ownership of “Somebody to Love.” No word yet in response from anyone in Justin or Usher’s camp.
Kendall Jenner is showing off her 17 body in a bikini because all she wants in life is to be a Victoria’s Secret model. She’s tall, she’s fit and has a team of people who can probably convince Victoria’s Secret into giving her the job as an 18th birthday present, since Victoria’s Secret doesn’t fuck with underage girls as models anymore, even though they used to. Pornographers. You see, cuz rich people, get everything they want. It used to be a BMW for her 16th birthday, now that shit is amateur, even the middle class kids get those now. I just like knowing how damaged she will be by 25. Because you know things like these always break. Not to mention, ask any bitch at 25 if she had a hot body at 17, most will say yes, making these pics, not very impressive and not just because she is the figurehead for an evil Kardashian empire now that the old fat one fell off harder than the time she shut down an all you can eat breakfast buffet….More Waffles. Here are the instagram self produced smut.
I know girls know exactly what they are doing when it comes to taking pictures of themselves. Even the young ones have it all figured out. They know the pose, they know the angle, they aren’t all innocent and having innocent fun like people pretend they are, I was 16 once and I was getting high and fucking and I am sure some of you were too, and that was in an era before the internet, and accessible porn, and all those fetishes, more importantly in a world that wasn’t Hollywood, where my sister was known for being some Disney starlet with nude pics that got her all kinds of attention. Meaning, she’s totally aware of what’s going on, and that’s why she’s dressed like a teenage runaway you met at the bus station looking for place to sleep, shower and get some food, and totally willing to do anything…and I mean anything for you to get it. So if that’s your thing, a fetish that is a little more fringe than just being a teen in a bikini, you know with more layers and complexity, here’s Stella…..the little Hudgens that could.
Jennifer Lawrence’s first red carpet appearance in months caused fans to do a double-take, and not just because she flubbed Bill Clinton’s name on stage. Check out her new, shorter hairstyle! Looking gorgeous as ever, the 22-year-old attended the GLAAD Media Awards in L.A. Saturday, sporting a side-swept, almost shaggy fringe look. In addition to the change in length, the honey-colored highlights and wavy layering lend a slightly unkempt feel that fits a low-maintenance gal like Jen. Even at an A-list event, it seems to work … right? Are you a fan of Jen’s new hairstyle? Vote! I love it! Looks great on her! I don’t love it, but she’s still gorgeous. Ugh. Not a fan at all! Who came up with that idea?! View Poll »
