Elizabeth Banks is doing her part to help President Obama’s 2012 reelection bid, extolling the virtues of Planned Parenthood in a new campaign ad. The 38-year-old Hunger Games actress released a new video praising Obama and Planned Parenthood, while sharing some very personal anecdotes. Watch the campaign spot below and see what you think:
It looks like Robert Pattinson has Kristen Stewart beat in at least one regard: the actor most likely showered on Friday. Amidst reports that Stewart is an unkempt mess , sources say that Pattinson actually made a public appearance over the weekend, stopping by The Deer Lodge in Ojai, California on Friday night with a few friends. An employee of the cowboy-themed establishment confirms that he heard the same, telling Radar Online that he was not working that evening, but “several people” informed him ” Pattinson was here enjoying the music” and seemed to be in “good spirits.” The bar is located about 90 minutes from the home Rob and Kristen shared in Los Angeles and would make sense as a locale for Rob to frequent at the moment, considering he’s rumored to be residing in Reese Witherspoon’s vacation home . It’s situated in Ojai. An unnamed patron also confirmed the handsome sighting, Tweeting afterward: “Awesome night in Ojai. Got to hang with a rowdy bunch of Brits & one of them happened to be Edward… He wasn’t moping and the girls were definitely just his friend… I stood next to them at the bar. He wasn’t drunk. Just taking in the scene. Smoked next to him outside.” The countdown, meanwhile, is on for Pattinson first official public appearance: it will take place August 13 in NYC at the premiere of Cosmopolis .
Michael Phelps is dating a 25-year old model named Megan Rossee . How is this NOT the most pressing off-the-field-court/field/arena story of the 2012 London Olympics at the moment? Because Nick Delpopolo was given the boot from the Games after testing positive for marijuana. And the U.S. judo team member hilariously claims it’s due to the accidental ingestion of a pot brownie. Delpopolo was expelled from the Olympics last week, while his accreditation was stripped and his seventh place finish expunged. But the 23-year old swears he never meant to get high. The dirty test was “caused by my inadvertent consumption of food that I did not realize had been baked with marijuana,” Delpopolo says in a statement, taking responsibility for his actions and adding: “I apologize to U.S. Olympic Committee, to my teammates, and to my fans, and I am embarrassed by this mistake.” He’s probably really hungry right about now as well.
Oscar Pistorius of South Africa may not have captured a medal at the London Olympics, but you’d be hard pressed to find a bigger winner at the games, or in life. This photo surfacing Sunday on Twitter proves it 1,000 times over. It’s an older image, but it resurfaced after Pistorius raced in the 400-meter semifinals. What Oscar Pistorius , a double amputee, did this week is immeasurable. Because of him, Ellie Challs, the young girl he is seen racing here, can look up to a man who faced the same obstacles as her but refuse to accept limits: Pistorius, nicknamed the Blade Runner after his cutting-edge prosthetic sprinting legs, inspired more than fellow amputees with his effort at the Olympics. Though he didn’t make the final, he did run well enough to make the semis and held his own against the best in the world in his track and field event. Kirani James, the man who won the semifinal Pistorius ran in, was so moved that after the race, he held up the nameplate from Pistorius’ uniform to the crowd.
Lebron James Invites Olympic Swimmer To Dinner At The Dining Hall SMH. Your boy Bron Bron was trying to sneak in a swirl date while in London for the Olympics! Lauren Perdue is one of the United States’ top swimmers, and on Wednesday she swam the first leg of the 4×200 women’s freestyle relay. That’s nice and all, and she’ll likely take home some hardware, but her primary notoriety is coming from a couple of tweets she sent out last week. Just before the Games began, she tweeted, “Lebron James just invited me to dinner…Um wuuuutttt?!?” Around that time, the photo at right showed up on Perdue’s Instagram account. That is most definitely LeBron, trendy dork glasses and all. On Wednesday, just after her relay, she gave the full scoop to the Charlotte Observer. Before the Games began, the “Dream Team” hung with the swimmers in a kind of Avengers-meets-Justice-League American hero summit. In the course of that, LeBron did indeed invite Perdue to dinner. “He was kind of joking,” Perdue said. “But he was basically like, ‘Would you like to come eat with me at the dining hall?’ And I said, ‘Um, I’m sorry, I have a curfew.’” Hey, to be fair, LeBron never went to college, so perhaps to him the “dining hall” is this mystical, exotic locale not a vast, noisy world of free cereal where your head rings from last night’s overindulgence.
