Kanye West Is ‘A Good Friend,’ Theophilus London Says

Brooklyn MC hints at possible involvement in West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation album. By Jocelyn Vena Theophilus London Photo: Getty Images Given their similar aesthetics and emotional rhymes, it’s no surprise that Theophilus London and Kanye West have plans to team up — on something. When MTV News caught up with London this week, he teased that he and Yeezy have some sort of collaboration on the horizon. “He’s working on his G.O.O.D. Music record soon,” London said, not mentioning whether he’s involved in that project. “I’m just happy to be affiliated with him. We email each other back and forth and tip each other off on different fashion things. He’s just a good friend. Right now, I can’t say anything else about that, but he’s just a good friend.” West announced last month that he was working on a G.O.O.D. compilation album , even citing a time frame for when he wanted to drop it. “Goodmusic. The album. Spring 2012,” he tweeted , providing just enough information to get fans excited for what’s to come. These days, Yeezy is on the road with longtime pal Jay-Z on the Watch the Throne Tour . London already caught the show and has only the kindest words to say about it. “I went to check out the Watch the Throne Tour; it’s amazing,” he said of one of two Madison Square Garden shows. “I recommend it.” While Kanye tours with Jay-Z and decides what his next move with London is, the Brooklyn MC is riding the wave of being included on the “Breaking Dawn- Part 1” soundtrack with his song “Neighbors.” “When they asked me do it, I was very privileged and pleased. I wanted to do a super emo song about neighbors and how neighbors are very important,” he said. “A lot of people are freaking out, but it’s a whole new fanbase for me. I’m just so stoked that all these cute girls that like vampires hear my song.” What kind of collabo do you want to see between ‘Ye and Theophilus? Share your ideas in the comments! Jay-Z, Kanye West Throne Show At MSG ‘Unreal’

‘There’s no other experience,’ one fan tells MTV News of the Throne’s first stop in Jay’s hometown New York City. By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Kanye West and Jay-Z in “Watch The Throne” tour (file) Photo: The Washington Post/Getty Images Jay-Z and Kanye West brought their much-heralded Watch the Throne Tour to New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Monday night after two shows at New Jersey’s IZOD Center over the weekend. After kicking off the eagerly anticipated jaunt last week in Atlanta, the Throne began their trek north, stopping in North Carolina, and now they’ll stay put for one additional show at the Garden on Tuesday night (November 8). MTV News headed to the show on Monday, where the allure of seeing Jay and Kanye run through their catalog of hits at the World’s Most Famous Arena wasn’t lost on fans who filed into the newly renovated stadium for a 9:30 p.m. start time. Sticking to the script of their previous shows, the duo opened up with the WTT bonus track “H.A.M,” but “Welcome to the Jungle” hit a soft spot when Jay-Z spit his line, “Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5.” The reference was especially touching just hours after the guilty verdict in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case was finally passed down. As expected, Jay and ‘Ye performed their #1 single “Ni–as in Paris” multiple times during the show’s final minutes, adding in a mix of Jay-Z’s early hits like “Lucifer” and “Money Ain’t a Thing,” along with Kanye’s “Get Em High” and “All Falls Down.” And post-show, fans who spoke to MTV News were still brimming with excitement. “This is where it all started,” said one excited fan, referring to Jay-Z’s first hometown stop on the tour. “This is where he’s gonna start, this is where he’s gonna finish, so this is the best feeling ever. If you’re a Jay-Z fan — or anybody’s fan for that matter — you’ve gotta see them in the Garden. There’s no other experience.” “It was unreal to watch them together, feeding off each other’s chemistry,” another fan added, after watching Jay and ‘Ye throw it down. “Watching them own the stage like they did — it was ridiculous.” The Throne will perform one additional show at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night before they head to Florida. For Your Consideration in All Razzie Categories: Clint Eastwood

Razzie authority Dan Kois is on to something: “Clint Eastwood is due! The man is 81 and has directed some real howlers, from Any Which Way But Loose to Invictus . Count us among the Razzie experts who really thought last year was his year; Hereafter , after all, was a metaphysical hash of half-baked ideas and ridiculous plot points, wrapped in a stomach-churning tsunami re-creation. But Hereafter didn’t even get nominated! In fact — and I know this will be hard to believe — Clint has never been nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award, not even for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil . As one Razzie voter told me, “Even if J. Edgar is subpar — that is, less bad than usual — I plan to vote for Clint. The old man deserves it for all the crap he’s made me watch over the years.” [ Grantland ]

Mena “The Forehead” Suvari is Weird Looking of the Day

I wonder if Mena Suvari was ever marketed as a “babe”….did she ever get listed on Maxim’s hot list, or any other bullshit list paid for by advertisers and partner companies that get the girls in photoshoots for them…you know like if I did a top list and nominated lohan, marketed it hard, then asked her to be in a shoot for it, basically sucking up to her to get something out of her, well that’s their level of journalism…..was she ever considered hot? Because she is so not hot….even in her Recent enough considering how dead her career topless scene in a movie called Garden of Eden I don’t know, I don’t get it, all I see is forehead….maybe it has to do with alien infiltrating mankind to learn about them from the inside evil genius that made it happen for her….it’s gotta be that….cuz otherwise there’s no reason for it…

Girls’ Generation: Five Things You Didn’t Know

‘There’s nine girls, but our teamwork is more amazing than our choreography,’ Tiffany tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Girls’ Generation Photo: MTV News Nine member Korean Pop group Girls’ Generation are making a name for themselves in the U.S. The girls recently played an “epic” Madison Square Garden show, they’re releasing their first Stateside single later this month and their new music video for “The Boys” has nearly 15 million YouTube views after just two weeks. But although the group has had enormous success overseas, they’re still relatively unknown in America, which is why when MTV News sat down with Girls’ Generation (a.k.a. Soshi or SNSD to their international fans), we asked them to tell us what they thought new followers needed to know about them. “We have impeccable choreography, in-sync choreography,” Tiffany said. “Our music is upbeat, lively and energetic,” Sooyung added. Indeed, their knack for upbeat, radio-friendly songs has earned them success like the 2009 hit “Gee,” which is the longest-running #1 single on the Korean Broadcasting Charts. And with chart-topping songs and a devoted fanbase in countries like Korea and Japan, the group credits their success to one key thing: “Teamwork.” “There’s nine girls, but our teamwork is more amazing than our choreography,” Tiffany explained. “Beat That!” Music, however, isn’t the girls’ only talent: It turns out they’re also multilingual. “We have members that speak English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean,” Jessica told us. And if you wondered whether a girl group made up of nine women means navigating clashing personalities or even catfights, think again. According to the ladies, while things aren’t always perfect, the singers are as close as sisters. “We grew up together starting earliest age 10 and latest age 15, 16,” Tiffany said. “We’ve grown up and we’re one big happy family,” she added. “We know when to be around each other, when not to be around each other and as the time passes, we really appreciate each other’s presences and teamwork.” Girls’ Generation probably won’t be getting a break from each other anytime soon as they’re hoping to embark on a world tour, which Jessica said could kick off “maybe sometime soon, maybe next year.” “Since K-Pop is becoming a movement, we’re all looking forward to making this not into a movement, but for us to become part of a genre or become music here as well,” Tiffany said. “We definitely want a world tour. … Be careful, world, we’re on the way!” Have you checked out Girls’ Generation yet? REVIEW: Moretz Aside, Texas Killing Fields Not So Killer

Willem Dafoe Talks Fireflies in the Garden and Platoon at 25

“Usually when I hear the words ‘family drama,’ I run,” said Willem Dafoe, who nevertheless found something to savor in writer-director Dennis Lee’s Fireflies in the Garden . Little did Dafoe or his castmates Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Watson, Hayden Panettiere and least of all Lee himself know that their particular family drama wouldn’t make it to American theaters only today — nearly four years after its Berlin Film Festival premiere in 2008.

Hayden Panettiere’s Little Person Sexiness

I haven’t seen Hayden Panettiere in quite a while, it’s nice to see that she’s still looking pretty good. Here she is at the premiere of something called ‘Fireflies In The Garden’ . I don’t know what that is either, it kid of sounds like something you’d hear in a feminine hygiene commercial. Anyhow, Hayden brought along her short sexy legs in a nice little outfit so who really cares about the premiere of a movie of the week. Seriously, that’s all she does now right? Made for TV movies? She’s still pretty cute so hopefully she’ll bounce back one of these days.
