Lady Gaga Fans Get Dolled Up, Take Us Along To Monster Ball Tour

Follow two Little Monsters as they head to Gaga’s concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden. By Rebecca Macatee Lady Gaga Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News Oh. My. Gaga. I’m still dancing, sparkling and “showing my teeth” after Lady Gaga’s epic show at Madison Square Garden last night. My friend Liz and I went in full “glitter and grease” attire to Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball. After accumulating Gaga garb for months, the time had come for us to finally unleash our inner monsters. We went to Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball at Radio City Music Hall back in January, where I’d worn leggings, a conservative leotard and clip-on bangs. Compared to the racy getups of her other fans, I was totally tame and felt a tad underdressed! For this show, I wanted to go in a full costume of Gaga-inspired glory. I started with a simple, black leotard. (We’re in the midst of a heat wave here in NYC, and honestly, who wears pants to see Lady Gaga?!) At the hardware store, I insisted on trying on 9 feet of chains, which I would wrap around my body and safety-pin into place. (I was going for that whole prisoner look Gaga rocks in her “Telephone” video .) A partial weave would not suffice for Gagaloo round two, so I searched high and low for a bright, Mother Monster-inspired, canary-yellow wig. Fishnets and bejeweled, fingerless gloves were a given. Liz wore glitter-covered high heels and a provocative mesh leotard, dyed the tips of her hair hot pink and drew on a “Just Dance”-inspired lightning bolt underneath her right eye. A girl can never be too sparkly. Liz and I got ready for the show in my small, sweltering apartment, spending extra time on our dramatic makeup that would undoubtedly melt off our faces before the night’s end. We clonked down six flights of stairs from my walkup to the street wearing 5-inch heels, and definitely got some confused stares from passersby. Our giddy anticipation and adrenaline escalated as we cabbed to the arena, belting out “Alejandro” and dancing in the backseat. The moment we stepped out of the taxi and into the crowd of Little Monsters waiting to enter MSG, we instantly fit in. Confused stares and questioning side-glances were replaced with celebration and camaraderie among new friends. There were men in S&M getups, women with lacy headdresses and sequin gowns, young kids in pleather and everything in between. An indescribable, excited energy united us all. Gender, race, sexual orientation and class truly disappeared, and on this night, we each felt like the guest of honor at a giant, judgment-free party. Liz and I made it to our seats just in time to see Gaga take the stage. The crowd screamed wildly for the iconic woman who proudly “brings all the freaks together.” She defies convention not only with her wardrobe, but with her unapologetic attitude. The costume changes, dancing, piano-playing and sheer talent are an amazing, theatrical spectacle to watch, but the real genius of the Monster Ball is Gaga’s ability to make her audience feel like an integral part of the show. In a sold-out arena of thousands, Gaga is able to make every person feel an intimate connection to her and to each other. Her message is inspiring and uplifting, adamantly telling her beloved Little Monsters to believe in themselves. It’s not the clich

Celebrity Fashion Face-Off: Whitney Port vs. Rihanna

A style showdown between Whitney Port and Rihanna is clash of fashion titans, albeit very different ones. We love these two. But there can be only one winner. Amazingly, both The City star and fashion designer and the pop star manage to make their looks work well with wildly printed, black and white harem pants. MC Hammer would be proud … if he could afford an Internet connection and read this. Just kidding. Probably. Dude was in serious financial trouble for a time. Anyway, who looks better? Check out the Whitney and Rihanna pics and vote! Which star is the best dressed?

Lady Gaga’s Monsters Beat The Heat For ‘Dream Come True’ MSG Show

‘Everything was about New York today,’ one fan notes after Gaga’s headlining debut at Madison Square Garden. By MTV News Staff Lady Gaga performs at Madison Square Garden in NYC on June 6 Photo: Derek Storm/ Splash News When Lady Gaga took to the stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night, the singer said she was thankful for the chance to headline for the first time at the storied midtown venue. Her little monsters were equally thankful for the chance to see Gaga make the momentous career step in her hometown. “It’s 110 degrees in New York City right now, and I’m from Montana — it is savagely hot here and I’m dying in the heat, but it was definitely worth it,” Beau told MTV News as she left MSG. “She started crying in the beginning, and she was like, ‘This is my teenage dream come true, and it was just really sweet.’ ” Ben added that while it was sweltering outside, “Lady Gaga’s concert was definitely hotter than it is out here!” New York native Alex loved the show’s theme. “Everything was about New York today. Shocking moment of the night was when she [lay down] up on the piano and started playing the piano with her boot.” Frankie said he was spellbound by some of Gaga’s infamous theatrics. “It was a nice moment to see she got very emotional,” he said. “It was almost like she climbed up on the piano and on the screen they focused on her shoe, and then she started slamming her shoe on her piano, and it looked like she was going crazy on the piano for theatrics, and then she actually started playing. It was really, really cool!” Other little monsters left the show taking Gaga’s message to heart: If you dream big, sometimes your dreams do come true. “She mentioned that when she was our age, she was back in the last row, which is where we were trying to get past security and get closer to the front, and we did it,” Maggie admitted. “We dodged security, and basically, she gave us the inspiration that one day we can be up there, or our dreams can come true also. So, it was really inspirational.” Have you been to a Lady Gaga show? Share your favorite moments in the comments. The Gaslight Anthem Rate ‘Jersey Shore’

Drummer Benny Horowitz has some opinions about MTV’s hit show. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias The Gaslight Anthem Photo: MTV News As you can probably tell from virtually every single thing every written about them, rough-and-tumble rockers the Gaslight Anthem are from New Jersey — and proudly so. So, of course, after they field the obligatory Bruce Springsteen question — something they’ve always brought upon themselves, especially with their new album, the just-released American Slang — the follow-up question always seems to be about MTV’s hit show “Jersey Shore.” Rather to their chagrin … “People say it’s this ‘movement,’ but is it really a ‘movement?’ ” drummer Benny Horowitz laughed backstage at the Hard Rock Calling fest in London. “As somebody from Jersey, that sh– has been there forever. So to me, they’ve been the reason I’ve stayed out of Seaside Heights, New Jersey, for about 15 years. “It’s funny,” he continued. “Literally, now, entertainment-wise, all people can associate with New Jersey is ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Jersey Shore.’ And as a proud Jersey-ian — as somebody from the Garden State, the beautiful place it is, with our beaches and our ‘Jersey Fresh’ corn , the Bouncing Souls and all these amazing things — there’s actually a Web site called ReclaimNewJersey.com.” However, what seems to get under Horowitz’s proud New Jersey skin more than anything, it’s that some of the castmembers aren’t even from New Jersey. To him, it’s a matter of authenticity. “[Some] of the are from, like, Long Island,” he laughed. “I don’t know … it’s different there now. If they still drove El Caminos, I’d be cool with it.” Related Artists The Gaslight Anthem

2010 NBA Finals – Lakers vs Boston Celtics Highlights Game 3 [Fisher Clutch Shots, Kobe 29 Points]

All content is the property of the NBA and its respective entities. Fisher’s offensive heroics the difference for Lakers. If it wasn’t already apparent, this is not the same series as the 2008 Finals. Mostly because of the Los Angeles Lakers. In their 91-84 Game 3 victory, the Lakers, both as individuals and collectively, fought through a litany of situations that would have left them reeling and beaten. And they were tested from the very beginning. Behind what was probably the best crowd at TD Garden in a non-series clinching win, the Celtics stormed out to a 12-5 lead. First there were six-straight points from Kevin Garnett (25 points), including two alley oops, and then six more from Rajon Rondo. “We seemed to gather some strength and change the course of the game right there,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. By halftime, the lead was 12 and the Celtics, who have not performed well playing from behind in second halves, were left to do just that. “We kept our poise after that quick start and didn’t get rattled,” Kobe Bryant (29 points on 29 shots) said. “We didn’t doubt our ability to win here, even though we hadn’t done it in the playoffs,” Derek Fisher said. “We understand that in order to be the best, you have to win wherever, whenever.” “It’s very frustrating, very frustrating when you don’t play well offensively,” Garnett said. “But defensively, you know, you sort of buckle down and get the stops and things that you want and you get back into the game only to come …

Lakers – Celtics – Game 5 – NBA Finals 2010

Paul Pierce scored 15 points, Rajon Rondo added 10, and the Boston Celtics took a 45-39 lead over the Los Angeles Lakers into halftime of Game 5 of the NBA finals on Sunday night. Kevin Garnett made all three shots and had eight points and seven rebounds as Boston had two of its Big Three playing well at the same time for one of the few occasions in the series. Pierce made 7-of-10 shots. The Celtics were trying to take a 3-2 lead and move a win away from increasing their NBA-best total to 18 championships. They shot 66 percent and led at halftime for the first time since Game 2. Kobe Bryant scored 10 points on just 4-of-12 shooting for the Lakers, who shot just 33 percent. Andrew Bynum played 18 minutes and had six points, three nights after his sore right knee forced him to leave Game 4 after only 12 minutes. He and Derek Fisher (nine points) helped Los Angeles end a slow start. A message on the overhead video board before the Celtics’ starting lineups were introduced read: “The final stand at the Garden.” They made it a good one in the first half. The Lakers missed their first six shots as Boston jumped ahead 6-0, but Bynum and Fisher combined for the first 15 Los Angeles points for a 15-14 lead when Fisher hit three free throws with 4:58 remaining in the first quarter. Pierce hit jumpers for the Celtics’ final two baskets of the period, sending them to the second with a 22-20 lead. Bryant was only 1 for 4, shooting an airball and missing badly on another jumper. The …
