Christine O’Donnell Declines Offer to Put Spell on Piers Morgan

Former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell defended her decision to walk off Piers Morgan Tonight , but also responded with a good-natured Tweet after the host took a dig at her past as a witch. “Ms O’Donnell wasn’t happy about me quizzing her re withcraft and sex. But really flipped at gay marriage Qs. Ripped mike and fled,” Piers said. “My first ever walk-out in 25 years of interviews … do you think Christine O’Donnell is going to put a witch’s curse on me now?” Piers then did the professional thing, inviting Christine back on his show to discuss the walk-off. But she respectfully declined on Twitter. “Piers, thanks for the invite. Schedule is already packed, maybe another night. No hard feelings, you cheeky bugger,” she wrote. And that’s that. The sorceress/politician told Fox News earlier today that she didn’t come on CNN to speak about those hot button issues, and wanted to discuss other topics instead … except that Piers wouldn’t STFU about sex! Saying she found Piers’ line of questioning to be “inappropriate” and “borderline creepy,” the Republican from Delaware added: “I was not there to talk about sex – and he would not stop trying to talk about sex.” For the record, gay marriage is a broader topic than just sex, but with this piece of work, we don’t expect logic to resonate, so forget it. New Miley Cyrus Tattoo Supports Gay Marriage, Equality

It’s small, but important and effective and it forces us to give major props to Miley Cyrus. The singer Tweeted the words “All LOVE is Equal,” last night, along with her new tattoo, which is an equal sign. Check it out below: Cyrus has made her views on gay marriage well known over the years. She spoke out against Carrie Prejean in 2009 and she brought up the topic in contrast with the Casey Anthony verdict a few weeks ago. In this example, someone disagreed with Miley over Twitter, which prompted the following response: “where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge honey. ‘GOD is love.'”

Same Sex Matrimony-dom: Gay Couples Get Married In New York At Midnight

Damn, you know they couldn’t wait if they were getting it in at midnight! New York state ushered in gay marriage at the stroke of midnight Sunday, with a Buffalo couple among the first to wed. Kitty Lambert and Cheryle Rudd said “I do” moments after midnight on Goat Island, with rainbow-colored lights on Niagara Falls in the background. The couple have been together for more than 12 years. The New York Times reported that after a bell rang in the new day, Niagara Falls Mayor Paul A. Dyster said, “By the power vested in me by the laws of the state of New York, I now pronounce you legally married.” Lambert, 54, and Rudd, 53, kissed in front of more than 100 friends and family members, the Times said. “We’re so proud of everybody who crawled up this hill with us,” Lambert said Saturday evening before the wedding, BuffaloNews.com reported. In Albany, gay weddings began occurring at city hall, with the first couple mobbed by media, according to a Twitter feed from timesunion.com. According to a tweet by Danny Hakim, Albany bureau chief for The New York Times, Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings claimed he beat the Niagara Falls wedding with a private ceremony in his office for two longtime friends. “Done by 12:01,” according to the tweet. Whoever was first, thousands more gay and lesbian New Yorkers were getting ready to say “I do” this weekend, as the Empire State became the sixth in the U.S. to embrace same-sex marriage. A state law signed June 24 by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo went into effect at 12:01 on Sunday. In New York city alone, 823 couples planned to wed. People were waiting outside city halls across New York state for the chance. Peep some more pics of happily married and gay New York couples: Source

President Obama Orders The Justice Department To Stop Using The Defense Of Marriage Act To Halt Gay Unions

Barack Obama once again steps out and demands that the government stay out of the personal lives of its citizens. Washington (CNN) — President Barack Obama has ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage for federal purposes as only between a man and woman, according to a statement Wednesday from Attorney General Eric Holder. “The president has concluded that given a number of factors, including a documented history of discrimination, classifications based on sexual orientation should be subject to a more heightened standard of scrutiny,” Holder said. The key provision in the law “fails to meet that standard and is therefore unconstitutional.” “Given that conclusion, the president has instructed the (Justice Department) not to defend the statute” in two pending cases in New York, Holder said. “I fully concur with the president’s determination.” Obama has previously expressed his personal opposition to the Defense of Marriage Act but had never stated an opinion relating to its constitutionality. The administration had a March 11 deadline to respond to two lawsuits against the measure in New York. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals — which includes New York — is the only federal circuit to have never decided the basic legal question of whether a law discriminates against gay men and lesbians. Republicans immediately ripped the White House’s decision, calling it a distraction at a time when they said the focus needs to be on the economy. But leave it to the Republicans to find a way to hate. Speaker of The House John Boehner’s rep says: “While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the president will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation,” Rep. Lamar Smith said that Obama’s plea is a: “…transparent attempt to shirk the (Justice) Department’s duty to defend the laws passed by Congress. This is the real politicization of the Justice Department — when the personal views of the president override the government’s duty to defend the law of the land,” Surprise, surprise… Source
