SMH: Charges Filed Against Two Former School Officials In Fort Valley State Sex Scandal

Darrin Klimek/Getty Images Charges Filed Against Fort Valley State Officials Over Alleged Prostitution Ring Official charges have been filed against two Fort Valley State University administrators in connection with an alleged prostitution ring. As previously reported, Alecia Johnson, a graduate member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a former executive assistant to the University’s President, was under investigation for allegedly pimping women to “pay” for pledging. She’s now been charged alongside one other former Fort Valley State University official and five others. The Chronicle of Higher Education reports that Johnson and six others are facing charges related to prostitution and sodomy dating to 2017. Johnson’s been charged with numerous crimes, including six counts of pimping and six counts of prostitution. They add that she was also charged with conspiring to steal a student’s book-scholarship money, awarded in October 2015. The other official named is Charles Jones, Fort Valley’s former chief legal counsel, who was charged with pandering and solicitation of sodomy. Fort Valley State has released a statement confirming that they’re cooperating with the investigation. “FVSU has promised its students that their safety and security is our first priority, and we fully support the application of the judicial process,” the statement says. “We have consistently and aggressively worked with the University System of Georgia and law enforcement to ensure that anyone who allegedly puts our students at risk is investigated thoroughly and expeditiously, and have advocated for the most appropriate standards to be applied.” Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the nation’s first black sorority founded 110 years ago, previously released a statement confirming that their own investigation was underway and condemned Johnson’s alleged actions. “These allegations are in no way representative of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s 110-year service-based mission or its nearly 300,000 members. We condemn these allegations in the strongest possible terms,” the statement said. SMFH, this is deplorable. We hope officials find out what really went down at this school.

The Wave Of Black Women Candidates Just Got Stronger With This Grassroots Funding Milestone

Read the original post:

B lack women candidates, who face disproportionately higher obstacles to fundraising, have gotten a much-needed financial boost to help push them across the finish line ahead of their opponents in the 2018 midterm elections. See Also: Blue Party: Say Hello To The Black Wave MoveOn.org, the progressive social justice and political organization, announced Thursday that it has raised more than $1 million in small donations from its members to help elect six Black women candidates in the 2018 cycle. They hit the milestone on Wednesday night, and the pot swelled to $1,101,791 by Thursday afternoon. The midterm elections are crucially important, and Black women bring an important voice to the political landscape, Karine Jean-Pierre , a MoveOn.org senior advisor and national spokesperson, told  NewsOne . “Demographics are changing. You can’t move forward unless you have Black women at the political table,” she emphasized. “It would be a farce to say we’re moving forward as a country if you don’t have Black women there.” . @MoveOn has been quietly banging away to raise grassroots funds for Black women running for office, & we're approaching an awesome milestone. Soon, our members will have directly contributed > $1 million to ppl like @staceyabrams @LindaForNC @LUnderwood630 @lucymcbath @IlhanMN — Anna Galland (@annagalland) October 15, 2018 Raising campaign funds is arguably the biggest obstacle that hinders the success of Black women candidates. There’s already an overall gender gap , in which women running for Congress raise an average of $500,000 less than men. The challenges are even greater for Black women compared to white women. A March 2018 report from Arena, a progressive group that trains and supports female candidates, underscored the challenges Black women candidates face in attracting funding. In 2016, Black and Latinx women incumbents raised only half as much as white women did and just two-thirds as much as white men. “Money is incredibly important. You can’t have a campaign without money,” Jean-Pierre emphasized. The money could help them reach more voters by purchasing TV or radio ads, printing brochures or hiring essential staff members. MoveOn members have been incredibly receptive to supporting Black women candidates, Jean-Pierre said. The organization has built an email list over the past two decades that numbers in the millions. Their small-dollar member donations have accumulated to critical funding that continues to fuel campaigns. Stacey Abrams , who is running to be Georgia’s first Black governor, received MoveOn’s endorsement in November 2017. The group endorsed 11 non-incumbent Black women for Congress, three statewide and 13 in local elections. By Thursday afternoon, MoveOn raised $939,548 for Abrams. The other candidates who received funding included Linda Coleman ($48,004), Lauren Underwood ($47,366), Lucy McBath ($47,943), Ilhan Omar ($18,522) and Jahana Hayes ($406.00). “It was the first time that we’ve endorsed so early in a gubernatorial elections because of the importance of her elections,” Jean-Pierre explained. “When we bundled for Stacey Abrams, I know it was helpful, especially going into the primaries.” SEE ALSO: Please Stop Giving Racist White Women Adorable Nicknames Where Is Kierra Coles? Deteriorating Dust Mite Stacey Dash Secretly Said “I Do” … And The Groom Is A GOP Goon

WENN/Mindy Best/Getty Images for SXSW Stacey Dash Marries Republican Lawyer Known For Creating Fake Trump Supporting Politician Stacey Dash has said “I Do” for the fourth time! According to Page Six reports the human hangnail has been wed since April 6th, when she had a secret ceremony in Florida just days after withdrawing from her Congressional run in California. Dash’s new hubby is reportedly a lawyer named Jeffrey Marty who is famous for creating a fake “congressman” Rep. Steven Smith of Georgia, who was the first to endorse Donald Trump and regularly ticks off folks on Twitter with his Tea Party touting — despite already being exposed as a fictitious character. Page Six sources say Dash wed Marty just ten days after first meeting but her manager Kerry Jones wasn’t able to answer how or when they met or why the wedding was a secret, only that, “They wanted it on the D.L. [down low].” Besides being responsible for creating the fake “Rep. Steven Smith,” Marty is also known for once telling a reporter, “There are a lot of people that have died mysteriously around [Hillary Clinton]. When they were supposed to testify against her — three or four different people. Within a week.” Dash had filed to run in California’s 44th congressional district on February 26, saying she wanted to “free people from the shackles of a plantation mentality.” She dropped out of the race just a month later because of “the overall bitterness surrounding our political process.” Oh guess we should also mention that Marty lives in Florida, so unless Stacey is leaving Los Angeles behind or Marty moves to be with her, this will be a long distance matrimony-dom. We don’t really know much about this guy but everything we do know sounds batsh*t crazy. Do you think the fourth time will be the charm for Stacey?

Brian Kemp Launches Crazy Accusation At Stacey Abrams After Getting Caught Trying To Steal Election

Continue reading here:

G eorgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp fired off a ludicrous accusation against Stacey Abrams on Thursday, as he also announced under pressure that his office would allow scores of mostly Black voters to cast a ballot on Election Day. See Also: Georgia Removed Scores Of Voter From Its Rolls As Stacey Abrams Tries To Make History, Lawsuit Says Kemp, a Republican, oversees voter registration and elections as secretary of state. He’s also the GOP’s nominee for governor and is running against Abrams. She’s attempting to make history as the nation’s first African-American female governor. They are locked in a very tight race. His office had placed more than 53,000 voter registration applications on hold—about 70 percent of them from African-Americans, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday. The AP report created a firestorm of criticism against Kemp, who’s backed by President Donald Trump . Kemp denied any wrongdoing. Nevertheless, in a tweet on Thursday morning, Kemp said the 53,000 registrants would be allowed to vote. He also accused Abrams of manufacturing “outrage off a problem she created” and using fear to raise campaign funds. The 53,000 Georgians on our pending list can vote this fall. Abrams is afraid to run on her extreme record so she manufactures outrage off a “problem” she created. She uses fear to fundraise and liberal billionaires continue to bankroll her corrupt enterprise. #gapol #gagop pic.twitter.com/UQpdurabG5 — Brian Kemp (@BrianKempGA) October 11, 2018 At issue was Georgia’s “exact match” law, which requires information on voter registration forms to exactly match the registrant’s ID information. Applications are put on hold, for example, if a registrant’s name appears on a driver’s license with a hyphen but the hyphen is missing on the registration application. Making matters worse, registrants are usually clueless about the reason election officials rejected their application. A new poll shows that Kemp has a nominal two-point lead over Abrams. The Black voters among the 53,000 registrants at issue could easily push her over the top. Meanwhile, voter rights advocates are keeping a close eye on Kemp. “We sued Brian Kemp in #Georgia over his discriminatory exact match scheme in 2016 and won. We will not stand by idly while GA lawmakers resurrect this discriminatory policy again,” The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law tweeted on Thursday . Stacey Abrams May Be Reason Why Georgia’s Black Voters Want More Absentee Ballots

See the article here:

B lack voters are requesting absentee ballots at a high rate, creating an upswell that hasn’t happened in the state since Barack Obama ‘s 2008 presidential election, state county elections offices said. The reason for the increase may be because of  Stacey Abrams  and her historic bid for governor. RELATED:  Georgia Removed Scores Of Voter From Its Rolls As Stacey Abrams Tries To Make History, Lawsuit Says As the midterm election approaches, African-American voters continue to overwhelmingly show their support for Abrams, who could become the first Black female governor in the nation. Their support for Abrams has grown as the group, who make up nearly 30 percent of Georgia’s electorate, have asked for more absentee ballots. As of now, Black voters are responsible for 41.9 percent of absentee ballot requests, according to the GeorgiaVotes.com website, which compiles data released by the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office. Requests for absentee ballots are reportedly being made at a record 131 percent higher this year than in the 2014 midterm elections,  WSB-TV   reported. The record is also noteworthy in considering that it’s a year with no presidential election. Georgia sees surge of absentee ballot requests from black voters: report https://t.co/tpMwzGKga9 pic.twitter.com/Xf4zY1JjJE — The Hill (@thehill) October 10, 2018 “We could actually see Stacey Abrams become governor of Georgia at a time we’re seeing roughly half of the people who have turned in absentee ballots are people of color. That’s a really good sign for Stacey Abrams,” Democratic Strategist Tharon Johnson said. The record number of absentee ballots makes it clear that Black voters are going all out with exercising their right to vote in the state. Abrams, who will face off against her Republican challenger Brian Kemp next month, may soon be swept to another victory because of—or in large part due to—voters of colors. Quavo Pays Off $14K Tax Lien, Takeoff Stills Owes $14K

Unbeknownst to many, the state of Georgia hit  Quavo with a $14,000 tax lien. No worries, he paid it off—Takeoff still owes the same amount, though.  Reports The Blast : According to official documents, the Georgia Department of Revenue filed a release of a tax lien against the rapper (real name: Quavious Marshall) that he was hit with in June. The lien accused Quavo of failing to pay up on a state tax bill totaling $14,055.06 he owed from 2016. The lien has been released and it is no longer enforceable, due to the debt being paid in full. His Migos bandmate, Takeoff, was also hit with a lien — the same day as Quavo — over a similar unpaid tax bill totaling $14,348.23. Takeoff’s lien is still enforceable, though. But does this mean that Offset was responsible and paid his taxes? — Photo: WENN.com

Chaos Erupts At Lil Wayne’s Concert Set During A3C Festival Closing Night

NEW ORLEANS, LA – AUGUST 25: Lil Wayne performs during Lil WeezyAna at Champions Square on August 25, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Erika Goldring/Getty Images) Panicked Crowds Stampede At Lil Wayne A3C Show Despite all the amazing “you had to be there” moments and snackalicious honeys strutting around the A3C festival this past weekend…closing night was marred by a pretty dark cloud on what should have been a momentous occasion. Lil Wayne was finally free to release and perform some brand new music in the ATL, and fans packed out the Georgia Freight Depot to catch his performance. However, 3 songs in, some sort of disturbance spooked members of the crowd and caused an avalanche effect of panicked concertgoers fleeing the scene. All in all, Ataltna Police Department reports that about 12 people had to be treated for minor injuries, largely related to getting knocked around, stepped on, or bruised/scratched during the melee. Initial reports from the grounds pegged the source of the stampede as a shootout in the crowd. However, APD confirms that no weapons were fired nor gunshot wounds inflicted on the scene. There seems to have been some confusion surrounding a small patch of fisticuffs during the show. SMH! Sad that the festivities had to end this way. With so many tragic incidents surrounding concerts and music festivals as of late, it’s no surprise that people were on edge in this situation. Erika Goldring/Getty Images
