21 Savage Visits Atlanta School To Talk About Financial Literacy

Excerpt from:

H ip-hop artist 21 Savage is using his platform to spread awareness about the importance of financial literacy among the youth. The rapper—whose real name is Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph —recently visited a school in DeKalb County, Georgia to speak about making smart money decisions, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. . @21Savage even committed $100 to each of the young people who attended the event to open up their bank accounts. https://t.co/LBAoHFPKrP — AJC (@ajc) March 25, 2019 He surprised students at the Camp Jewell House Academy. His visit was a part of his Bank Account Campaign—that he launched last year—which aims to teach the youth about money management. Joined by U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson , the “Bank Account” rapper spoke to third and fourth graders about making informed and effective decisions when it comes to their finances. “For most kids, the focus is on earning money. And while that is important, to really get ahead you need to know how to manage your money, not just make it,” said Abraham-Joseph in a statement, according to the news outlet. “As I have gotten smarter about financial management, I realize how important it is to control your money rather than be controlled by it.” The students not only received “Stack Your Money” badges for participating in the workshop, but they also were gifted $100 for opening their own bank accounts. During his visit, he also spoke about other topics like the value of education and gun violence. Abraham-Joseph is making impactful moves on the philanthropy front. He recently teamed up with the nonprofit organizations Juma and Get Schooled for a collaborative effort to provide 150 students in Atlanta with job opportunities and host more financial literacy workshops. “I didn’t know nothing about bank accounts until I was probably about 24. So I feel like that set me back a little bit as far as getting my money in order and managing my money,” he said in an interview with Mic . “We need to start introducing them to this type of stuff at younger ages so that by the time they’re grown, they already got it down pat.” SEE ALSO: NFL Player Brandon Copeland Teaches Financial Literacy Course At The University Of Pennsylvania Millennial Entrepreneur Aims To Promote Financial Literacy In Underserved Communities Through App [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3849460″ overlay=”true”]

Ga. Man Sues NBA Star Dwight Howard For Threatening Him Over Speaking Out About Alleged Relationship (Exclusive)

Source: Jason Merritt / Getty Masin Elije Says Dwight Howard & Others Have Harassed Him And Threatened His Life A Georgia man has sued NBA star Dwight Howard after he said he refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement about their alleged relationship. Masin Elije sued Howard for assault and infliction of emotional distress last month in an Atlanta-area court, alleging Howard has been menacing him and threatening his life after he didn’t agree to sign paperwork that would’ve barred him from speaking out about their communications. The man said Howard approached him late last year to sign the NDA, and when he refused, Howard, along with his “agents, employees and associates,” began a campaign of harassment and intimidation. Elije said he began receiving calls, texts, DMs and emails from people and profiles that he did not know, and all of the messages were menacing, according to the suit, which was obtained by BOSSIP. Elije, who was born Maurice Singletary and is the author of the book “Industry Hoe,” has said on social media that he had an intimate relationship with Howard , but doesn’t spell out the nature of their alleged relationship in the case’s complaint. The plaintiff said he begged Howard to stop the abuse, then he changed his number and contacted the cops – but all to no avail. He said he’s suffered harm physically and mentally as well as financial losses, according to the suit. Elije wants his day in court, along with money damages for the alleged harassment. “Mr. Howard’s plan to use his celebrity status and resources to harass, intimidate and threaten Mr. Elije was intentional, extreme and outrageous,” Elije’s complaint states. “Mr. Howard acted without provocation or justification. Mr. Howard went beyond all possible bounds odd decency and is utterly intolerable in a civilized society.” Elije’s lawyer Sadeer Sabbak declined to comment, except to confirm that the lawsuit was indeed pending. Howard has yet to respond to the suit.

What We Know About The Death And Alleged Murder Of Tamla Horsford

Was it an accident or was it foul play? Join Our Text Club To Get The Latest Music, Entertainment, Contests And Breaking News On Your Phone. Text VIP to 71007 to join! In November 2018, Tamla Horsford was found dead at a friend’s home after an adult sleepover. The mother of five’s death was ruled an accident by alcohol poisoning but there have been skeptics who suggest that Horsford died at the hands of foul play. Major Joe Perkins with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia told reporters that none of Horsford’s injuries leaned towards foul play. “It was a party. They were drinking,”  11 Alive  reports. “She was drinking. Most of the partygoers had gone to bed at that time, and she was on the deck alone.” It was alleged that Horsford fell off a balcony where she was attending a “Football Moms” sleepover with seven other moms and three men. The early death certificate released by the coroner suggested that Horsford’s death was an accident but the fall from the balcony caused “multiple blunt force injuries” and “acute ethanol intoxication” also known as alcohol poisoning. But friends, internet theorists and more suggest that there’s more to the story. Her best friend  Michelle Graves , who was not at the party suggests that foul play happened to claim her friend’s life.  “It’s impossible to get the injuries that she had from one fall,” Graves told Atlanta’s WSB-TV . Here’s what we know. Horsford Died At A “Football Moms” Sleepover, Although Men Were Present There is video evidence of Horsford singing “Happy Birthday” at the party that was for the football mom’s. But why were men present if witnesses claim it was a sleepover just for the women? Multiple Abrasions Were Reportedly Found On Horsford’s Body Horsford’s family hired another medical examiner who found the other marks on Horsford’s body. The man who called 911,  Jose Barrera pointed out a cut on Horsford’s wrist. “She’s lying in the yard, basically on the patio downstairs. She’s not moving one bit. She’s not breathing,” he told dispatchers. “I’m noticing a small cut on her right wrist. She’s not breathing whatsoever. I don’t know if this cut was self-inflicted.” “We’re glad we’re not the only ones who feel there’s something awry with the story and with how she lost her life,” Graves told  WSB-TV  reporter Mike Petchenik. Barrera himself was placed on leave by his job at the Forsyth County Court system for using his position to “access confidential files on a current investigation surrounding a death in which you were a witness.” He was later terminated . Horsford’s case was officially closed on February 20 . “The State of Georgia has ruled the death accidental and consistent with an accidental fall,” s aid Major Joe Perkins with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office . “None of the injury patterns noted were consistent with foul play.” After speaking to the attendees’ police said Horsford’s death happened when she accidentally fell from a deck at the house. None of the attendees of the party saw the fall. “While the injuries sustained appeared to have been likely received in a fall, detectives awaited toxicology and medical examiner reports to verify the findings,” Perkins said.
