Actress’ rep confirms to People magazine that she is a ‘proud mom.’ By Jocelyn Vena Charlize Theron Photo: Getty Images Charlize Theron is a new mom. No, you didn’t miss the baby bump. The Oscar-winner just adopted a boy, her rep confirmed to People. “She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson,” the rep told the magazine in a statement. No additional details about Jackson were available at press time. While baby Jackson is Theron’s first child, it seems that the star has been thinking about motherhood for some time. In a 2010 interview, she opened up about wanting to tackle an important role: mom. “I feel very blessed to have had a certain amount of success and now I’m reaching the point where I would love to be a mom,” Theron said at the time. “I know I want to raise a big family and it’s just a question of time — I know I’m ready for that phase of my life.” Theron and her longtime boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, split in early 2010 after nearly a decade together. In 2011, she talked to Vogue about the new chapter in her life. “I’ve never been single. This is the first time in my life,” the actress said. “From the time I was 19, I’ve been in relationships, literally gone from one to the other within a month,” she added. Theron will be busy at home and at work this year. First up, she’s set to play the Evil Queen Ravenna in “Snow White and the Huntsman” opposite Kristen Stewart . Online, the “Kill Bill” and ” Bel Ami ” actress and her financier beau Arpad Busson will welcome a new bundle of joy into the world later this year. The new addition to Thurman’s family will join her children Maya, 13, and Levon, 10, with whom she shares custody with ex-husband Ethan Hawke. Hawke has expanded his family in recent years as well. After marrying his and Thurman’s one-time nanny Ryan Shawhughes in 2008, the happy couple has welcomed two children of their own: Clementine, 3, and Indiana, 6 months. Although Thurman will likely begin preparations for her new arrival, fans will get to see more of the 41-year-old beauty in Robert Pattinson’s next film, “Bel Ami,” which opens in March. Thurman has been fortunate to have co-starred with a slew of handsome younger men in her films over the years, which she said she has not taken for granted: “I have been cast opposite a lot of really handsome, charming young men,”

Rachel Crow Talks Up ‘Amazing’ Post-‘X Factor’ Career

By Kara Warner Rachel Crow Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Her elimination from “X Factor” made for one of the most shocking (and tear-filled) moments of the show, and now breakout star Rachel Crow will be crying tears of joy thanks to a newly inked recording contract with music-industry powerhouse Columbia Records and a TV deal with Nickelodeon. MTV News caught up with the spunky 14-year-old on Wednesday (February 22) to get the inside scoop on her new endeavors. “Everything just kind of happened at once. It was really cool for me. I’ve never had so many things happen — it’s just amazing,” Crow said of her recent career developments, the first of which we’ll see via Nickelodeon’s new comedy “Fred: The Show.” ” ‘Fred: The Show’ is so much fun to work on. The whole crew, the whole cast, everyone is amazing. What’s really cool is on that show, you get to show both sides — singing and acting — which is right up my alley,” Crow said of her five- to six-episode stint. “I’m loving the acting so much. It’s really fun for me. I have a fun character. She’s spunky and crazy, and she wants to be a star and her name is — drum roll — her name is Starr.” With regard to the pilot the network is developing around the bubbly singer/actress, Crow said the details are still being worked out but promised it will be something we’ve never seen before. “The goal with the pilot is to reach boy and girl audiences, because that’s hard to do. We’re still deciding if it’s going to be one topic or any topic. Hopefully my [character’s] name is Rachel, I hope,” she said. “It’s going to be edgy and really funny. I want to land the moms and the dads too, so hopefully it will be a family show.” In between her work on “Fred: The Show” and her new pilot, Crow is getting ready to record her first studio album at Columbia. “I want my first album to have a lot of high notes in songs,” Crow said. “I want there to be upbeat songs and slow songs, I want it to be retro and very soulful and I want at least one of my songs to have a guy rapping in it, because that is just so cool. Rick Ross Calls #1 Hottest MC Title ‘An Honor’

MTV News began the list last week with Wale at #10 . A new rapper was revealed each day until Sunday’s “Hottest MCs in the Game VII” debuted on MTV2. So how did the Bawse react to his crowning achievement? “I just got the news that I was voted the game’s Hottest MC, and man, it really means a lot to me, of course, but it’s an honor,” Rozay told MTV News from an L.A. recording studio. “It’s something I’ve been watching, something I’ve been a fan of forever. Of course, MTV, they run the game. MMG, we’re here. Shout-out to the whole team.” Ross topped the list, which also included Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa and Wale. Each MC was judged based on our Hottest criteria, which included impact, buzz, sales, lyrics, swag and the intangibles. Rozay surely met all of the above. His impact on the game is undeniable, with his Maybach Music Group and key guest appearances on songs like Meek Mill’s “Ima Boss” and Lil Wayne’s “John,” Ross maintained a consistent buzz all year long. His Self Made, Vol. 1 compilation album debuted at #1 on the Billboard rap albums chart. Lyrically, Rozay was a force as well, and his swag was through the roof. In January, the Bawse lit up the streets when he dropped his free 19-song Rich Forever mixtape. When it was all said and done and MTV’s Hip-Hop Brain Trust convened, there was no question that Rick Ross would emerge as the biggest boss of them all. What do you think of our list? From appearing on numerous spreads to the latest issue of Sport’s Illustrated showing us her spread, the girl has been receiving tons of attention. However, one place where you most likely won’t find Ms.Upton and her racy rack is on the runway of Victoria’s Secret: “We would never use” Ms. Upton for a Victoria’s Secret show, Ms. Neophitou said by telephone last week from London. And, while Ms. Upton has, in fact, modeled on occasion for the company’s catalog, her look, said Ms. Neophitou, is “too obvious” to be featured in what has become the most widely viewed runway show in the world. “She’s like a Page 3 girl,” Ms. Neophitou said, referring to the scantily clad voluptuous women featured in The Sun, a London tabloid. “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy. A brand that casts a fashion show where supermodels walk down a pink runway with wings made of styrofoam, glitter, and glue. How high fashion… Kate clearly is not welcome there. Exclusive: Travis Porter’s Strap Arrested At Atlanta Airport

Strap, a member of the ATL rap trio, was caught with a firearm at Hartsfield-Jackson, an airport official confirms to MTV News. By Rob Markman Strap Photo: Dave Kotinsky/ Getty Images Travis Porter aren’t known for making gangsta music, but that reputation just might change. MTV News has confirmed that group member Strap was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday morning (February 15) for trying to clear security with a firearm. A Hartsfield-Jackson official indentified the arrested individual as Harold Duncan (Strap’s birth name) and confirmed that he was arrested at the airport and has since been transferred to Clayton County jail in Jonesboro, Georgia. The trio — Ali, Quez and Strap — have been a staple on the Atlanta rap scene for a number of years. They first gained notoriety after appearing on Roscoe Dash’s 2008 hit “All the Way Turnt Up,” and in 2010, the guys broke through off the strength of their strip-club anthem “Make It Rain.” The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard Rap charts and piqued interest for the group’s oft-delayed debut album on RCA Records. The group finished in the top five on MTV News’ 2010 “Hottest Breakthrough MC” fan poll. (The award eventually went to Wiz Khalifa .) Battling album delays, Travis Porter continue to release singles. Their 2011 track “Bring it Back” features Oakland rap legend Too $hort and appears on the group’s mixtape Music, Money, Magnums. TP’s latest single, “Ayy Ladies,” features Young Money’s Tyga. Earlier today, Travis Porter dropped a preview clip for the video on YouTube, and the behind-the-scenes video features Chris Brown and Meek Mill. Not only is the big-voiced diva up for six awards at the Grammys , but she will also open up about her recent throat surgery in a “60 Minutes” interview, airing on CBS immediately before the awards show. In a teaser for the TV special, the British songstress speaks with Anderson Cooper about her vocal-cord procedure as well as how she dealt with the post-surgery restrictions. “They put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp and kind of laser your hemorrhage back together and fix it,” Adele wearily told the news anchor. She was ordered not to speak a word throughout the months of November and December, but the songstress made the best of a not-so-bright situation by using notepads and a text-to-speech cellphone application to communicate with others. “It was really hard. I love talking,” she said. The singer confessed that the advances in technology made it a little difficult to say what was really on her mind. “I love to swear, and most of them you can’t swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I’m still really getting my point across,” she said with a smile. Adele’s road to recovery will come full-circle when the singer performs at Sunday night’s Grammys . The U.K. songstress recently tweeted her excitement about returning to the stage: “Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It’s been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can’t wait.” Chaos! ‘Smash’ Star Katharine McPhee Talks Auditioning For Steven Spielberg

Rodriguez/ Getty Images It’s been a while since we’ve seen Katharine McPhee in the spotlight. Now all eyes are on her as the “American Idol” alum takes on the leading role as Karen Cartwright in the highly anticipated NBC musical drama “Smash.” But the road to “Smash” hasn’t been an easy one for McPhee. After coming in as runner-up in the 2006 season of “American Idol” and starring in “The House Bunny,” McPhee has had a rough road on her career path. She was dropped from her record label in 2008 and struggled with getting other movie projects off the ground. But her determination paid off, which is something she could relate to when playing her character on “Smash.” “My character, Karen, is the biggest dreamer of them all, she dreams big. Our show is about dreaming big,” McPhee told MTV News at the New York premiere of “Smash.” “She has a big heart, she has a lot of drive and she’s very determined about what she wants in her career and what she wants out of it and how she’s gonna go about doing it, and keeping a real strong moral code. I think she is a little green when you first meet her. She’s not quite sure how things go and how things are worked in the business, [and] she learns a lot throughout the course of the first season.” The show centers on the making of a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. In the first episode, viewers will see McPhee’s struggle with several auditions before getting a callback to compete against newcomer Megan Hilty’s character for the part of Marilyn. But according to McPhee, her audition for the role of Karen was nothing like the one you will see during the premiere on Monday. “I did have to audition for this,” McPhee said. “It was actually one of the more simple auditions I’ve been through. I auditioned, put myself on tape, flew to New York the next week, was testing for it. I waited two days for Mr. Spielberg to watch the tape and I got the part.” Yes, that’s right. McPhee had to audition for Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg, who is a producer on the series. So we had to ask: Who is more intimidating to audition for, Spielberg or former “Idol” judge Simon Cowell? “I would say neither,” McPhee declared. “Mr. Spielberg, when you meet him, he is not intimidating at all.
