I’ve seen many people say that they never thought they…

I’ve seen many people say that they never thought they would be writing their own Bieber experience. But I always knew that I would write one someday. My idol taught me to chase my dreams and believe in them and that’s exactly what I did. I’m a 15-year-old girl from a small country called Finland in Northern Europe between Sweden and Russia and I met Justin Bieber. It all started when the Believe Tour dates were announced. I was sad to find out there was no tour dates in Finland but there was a tour date in Stockholm, Sweden so I begged my mom to buy me tickets. She did. We got floor tickets and I was so freaking excited. I was gonna see my idol! Then one morning I was laying in my bed when I got a phone call from a belieber friend of mine that I got to know through Twitter. She told me Justin was coming to Finland. I couldn’t believe it. My idol was coming to my country? When the phone call ended, I googled it and it was true! The concert was gonna be the smallest one in the whole tour, there was only going to be about 12,000 people there. We decided to ask our parents for meet & greet tickets and her parents agreed but my parents were hesitant. I get it though, the tickets cost a whole lot of money. That’s why I told them I could pay for at least half of them and sell the tickets we originally bought for Sweden. I ended up getting meet and greets for Finland! Nine months later on April 25th, the day before the concert, I went in front of Justin’s hotel. I saw some of his dancers and his bodyguard. Then things started to get a bit crazy after a while so I left. It was Justin’s day off and I felt like I was disturbing his peace. On the day of the concert I had an entrance exam to a high school and after that we headed straight to the arena. It was raining so my hair got messed up but I really didn’t mind. Justin was two hours late and we missed the opening act. Eventually Justin showed up and the meet & greets started. We all got in line. The first thing I saw of Justin was his quiff. I saw him few times while standing in the line but I didn’t freak out or anything like that. He’s not a God, just a human like all of us. I left two of my drawings on a table we were told to put our gifts on. I doubt he got them though. When I walked in  the meet and greet, he looked straight into my eyes and I said “Hi.” I can still see his eyes looking at me clearly in my head. I stood next to him and we took the picture and I got pushed away. It was really quick but I was happy. I walked into the arena and it was full of screaming beliebers. We walked to the front of the floor. There was an area for us right in front of the stage. The concert was an amazing experience. I was so happy to see the person whose songs I’ve been listening to for years performing them live right in front of me. To me, seeing him perform was more important than meeting him. I had promised myself not to take many pictures or videos. (I ended up with 9 pictures and one video.) I just wanted to enjoy the concert live, not through videos. I also promised not to cry. I ended up tearing up during Believe though. I was holding up a sign that said “WE BELIEVE” and Justin looked at it and then at me. The whole experience was amazing. The concert was better than I could have ever imagined. I’m not just saying this because Justin is my idol. It really was amazing. I am so thankful for meeting him and seeing him live after years of supporting him. I proved that dreaming really does pay off. Thank you Justin, you will never know how much you have helped me. -@sinirauhl Read this article: I’ve seen many people say that they never thought they…

My name is Isabelle, I’m 13 years old, and I live in Sweden . I can’t believe I’m actually writing my OWN Bieber experience. It all started when I stood outside Annexet. My whole body was shaking and I really had “butterflies in my stomach.” I couldn’t believe I actually about to meet the boy I’ve been crazy about, for four years. My friends and I stood in the meet and greet line and then we were allowed inside. After a couple of minutes, Ryan came and he told us all the rules for the meeting. We were suppose to leave our gifts on a table outside the meet and greet tent where Justin was, and we couldn’t ask for an autograph, no kissing, and stuff like that. We sat in the room for about two hours. Suddenly Ryan said, “Everybody, go to your seats.” We all did as he said, and suddenly Dan Kanter came out. I was about to faint when I saw him. When Dan left, I had my mental breakdown. I started to cry, and I got worried. I mean, if I cry when I see Dan, how will I react when I meet Justin Bieber himself? When I was done crying, I went to fix my make up and then walked to Ryan, the host. He stood and talked to some girls, then looked at me. I stuttered, “Uhm, Ryan. Can I-I-I please have a h-hug?” and he smiled at me, laughed a little and then said, “Yeah of course.” After a while, Ryan said, “Everybody, go to the meet and greet line,” and as we where about to take place in the line, Justin came on his segway! He said something like, “Hey everybody!” and drove back to the tent. The security pushed me and some others inside the tent, and I put on a Justin mask that I borrowed from my friend Cassandra. Justin looked at me and laughed. I made him laugh! Justin said, “Hey there sweetheart,” and before I could answer, he pulled me in for a soft and warm hug. I didn’t even ask for the hug, he just hugged me. It felt like I was going to die. Before I took place on Justin’s right side, I said quickly, “Hey Justin, can we please do funny faces on the picture?” Justin nodded and laughed as he said, “Yeah of course sweetie.” He then took the Justin mask and placed it in front of his face, and the guy took two pictures of us. After that, the security started to drag me away from him so I started to walk away. All of a sudden, I felt someones hand around my wrist and I turned around. Justin pulled me in and said, “Don’t go, just one more picture please?” In those two pictures, Justin placed the mask in front of my face this time, and I hear the camera’s click. Security grabs me once again and starts to drag me out of there. I panicked and said, “Justin, can I please have one more hug?” and he gave me the biggest smile ever and sweetest hug ever. I placed my cheek against his chest as his chin rested on top of my head. I said, “I love you so much Justin.” Oh, and did I mention how good he smells?  When I got outside the tent I looked back and got a sight of Justin’s red cap and realized that I just had met the one and only Justin Bieber. I had a breakdown on the floor outside the tent. That feeling was just so perfect. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I got like a minute with Justin, three hugs without asking for two of them and four pictures. Even though I look really weird in the pictures, it doesn’t matter. I met the boy I’ve loved for four years, I made him laugh, I made him smile, and the best thing of all, I made him blush. Justin also posted a collage on his Twitter from the meet and greet I was at, and my picture was in it!  -@3mptyh3art Link: My name is Isabelle, I’m 13 years old, and I live in…

My name is Lynsey, I’m 15 and from Manchester, England. On…

My name is Lynsey, I’m 15 and from Manchester, England. On the 20th February 2013, the night before my Believe tour concert, my mum managed to get me a ticket to Justin’s book signing in London on the 23rd. Even though I’m from Manchester and it was such a long journey, we didn’t care, as long as I met Justin. I had also entered the BieberFever competition for meet and greets a few weeks before, but ever since I found out I was going to the book signing, I kinda forgot about it. That night I couldn’t sleep as my Believe concert was the next day. I don’t know why, but I just decided to check my emails before I tried to get to sleep again. My heart suddenly stopped when I saw the words ‘Bieberfever contest’ and ‘Congratulations Lynsey.’ I didn’t know what to do and as it was 11:45 p.m. and I couldn’t scream. I ran into my mum’s room crying and she thought something really bad had happened, but when I told her, she started crying too! After that, she had to take me downstairs for a while to calm me down, and I ended up going back to sleep at about two in the morning. We got to the arena the next day and we queued up with the rest of the contest winners. When we got close to the curtain that Justin was behind, the security said that we had to put our gifts for Justin in this pile and he would “give them to him later.” I knew they wouldn’t so I hid my bag full of Oreos for Justin and Alfredo under my coat. Then just before the three people in front of us went in, the security suddenly said, “You need to go in a group of six with these people.” He said it so quickly and I panicked because I really wanted to be next to Justin in the picture. I pushed my way to the front so I got to go through the curtain first. I saw Justin and suddenly froze. I couldn’t believe he was standing there, right in front of me. I felt myself starting to cry and Justin beckoned me over as I still hadn’t moved. I ran up to him and put my arms around him and all I could say was, “Justin Justin I love you so much.” I was crying into his chest and he hugged me back. By this time, the rest of my group were in, ready for the picture to be taken. Justin and I hadn’t let go of each other the whole time. After the picture I quickly gave the Oreos to Justin and he said, “Thank you so much,” and then he said, “FREDO! FREDO! FREDO! We have a lifetime supply of Oreos over here!” I didn’t even realize Fredo was in the room until Justin said that! I found myself running over to Fredo and I was crying. “It was me! I got you the Oreos!” We then got escorted out of the room only to be greeted by Kenny. I ran over to him and started sobbing into his chest and he rubbed my back. All I managed to say was, “Kenny  Kennnny!” Then the other security guard said, “Come on girls you need to move along.” Then Kenny saw my other two friends standing at the side crying too and he said, “Come on girls, group hug.” We were then let out into the corridor and we all collapsed on the floor, sobbing and crying our eyes out. Afterwards the concert was amazing! Then came the book signing on the 23rd. I travelled down to London on the train with my mum and we arrived at the secret location. We queued up for quite a while, and they were playing the ‘Believe’ album in the background. Again, when we were supposed to hand in our gifts, I hid my letter for Fredo and birthday card for Justin in my pocket. When I got over to the table and put my book down, Justin signed it and I was like, “I love you so much Justin!” Then my mum said, “Justin I just want to tell you that you put a smile on her face everyday,” and he looked from my mum to me, and looked right into my eyes and said, “Aw but I’m making her cry now!” Then my mum said, “No seriously Justin, you really are a credit” and he put his hand on his heart like a peace sign then shook my mum’s hand. I then gave my letters and card to Fredo and my hand was shaking so much. “Promise me you’ll read it?” I said through my tears. He nodded his head and gave me a really sincere look and said, “I promise.” It was just such an amazing experience and to got to do it twice in the space of three days. When I didn’t think it could get any better, I woke up the next day to find that Fredo had tweeted me! I couldn’t believe that he had actually took the time to read my letter and tweet me. Justin is so perfect and I never even dreamed that I’d be able to write a my Bieber experience like I am right now. I’m NEVER going to forget this! My name’s Mollie, and I never in a million years thought I would…

My name’s Mollie, and I never in a million years thought I would be able to write a MBE. It’s so unreal! I’ve never met Justin before, although I went to see him on the My World tour back in 2011. When I found out Justin was bringing the Believe Tour to the UK I knew I had to go! I knew the tickets would sell out so fast during the general sale so I was so worried I wouldn’t get any tickets. I was on Twitter one day in school and saw a girl had posted that she had got meet and greet tickets. I quickly texted my mum and she told me she would look to see if there was any. When I came home from school my mum told me she could only get the ‘Diamond Package.’ I was really happy, but a bit upset knowing that I would probably never meet Justin now. A few weeks later, after I wouldn’t stop going on about meeting Justin somehow, my mum couldn’t take it anymore and told me she had actually got the meet and greets! I was SO happy. After months of counting down the days, it finally arrived on Wednesday February 27th 2013. We travelled down to Birmingham which was about 3 hours away by train, and arrived at the venue. We stood in line with all the other people who had purchased meet and greets. Then we went and stood in another line. Dan Kanter and Nick DeMoura came out to say hi and ask us all how we were, if we were excited to meet Justin, etc. They took photos with everyone and were so lovely. Finally it was the time to go meet Justin! They took us down some stairs where we stood in three lines and then we saw the black curtain. We were all so excited knowing that Justin was right there! Scrappy and some of the dancers came to say hi from behind the curtain too. We had to leave our gifts for Justin outside but they said they promised us, that our gifts and cards would get to him. The moment I’d been waiting 4 years for was finally here! “Next group,” they said. I walked behind the curtain and there he was. We walked over to Justin and he said “Hi.” I was so speechless, I just looked at him, thinking how perfect and flawless he was. We asked for a hug, and he said, “Yeah, of course you can.” I couldn’t believe it, I just hugged Justin! They took our photo, it was so fast, they really didn’t give us the chance to have a conversation or ask Justin any questions. I was walking out and told Justin that I loved him, and he gave me the cutest smile and nodded his head! I wish we could have had a little longer time with him, but it was the best time of my life. I cried for about an hour afterwards. You could really tell that Justin would of liked to stay longer with us all and talk, but the security were just rushing us all so much. It was such a crazy experience and the Believe Tour was out of this world! The best concert of my life. Never Say Never! -Mollie (@OVOMollie)  More: My name’s Mollie, and I never in a million years thought I would…

‘Les Misérables’ Hits High Notes, But Also Skitters

I feel I have to confess to a certain partisanship. I grew up listening to  Les Misérables . I’ve seen it performed twice and as a girl had the original Broadway cast recording down cold . It’s been years since I’ve heard it, but watching  Tom Hooper ‘s adaptation of Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil, Jean-Marc Natel and Herbert Kretzmer’s musical I realized with amusement and discomfiture that I could still sing along to just about every damn word, at least until whomever was sitting near me took it upon themselves to murder me for the greater good. These songs — and the bridges in between, for  Les Misérables is a sung-through affair with almost no spoken dialogue — are permanently etched in my psyche, and I am as far from being able to look at this material with critical distance as a highly trained stage star is from an actual consumptive 1800s French urchin. That said, can we admit that  Les Misérables is an absolute beast of a musical? It faces the impossible task of compressing Victor Hugo’s 1500-page novel into three hours (the screen version running a leaner 157 minutes), starting in a prison in the south of France in 1815 before leaping ahead to the town of Montreuil in 1823 and then Paris in 1832, where the main action takes place against the backdrop of the June Rebellion. It’s the story of ex-convict Jean Valjean ( Hugh Jackman ), but it has a notable array of other significant characters to be dealt with, ones who love and suffer and (quite frequently) die, and all with musical accompaniment. The signature staging of the play involved a giant turntable that allowed for more fluid scene changes. On screen, that can be accompanied efficiently with an edit, but then you have to deal with the fact that smooshing a whole storyline about Valjean giving up a chance to let a stranger go down for his crimes and choosing to go on the run again (“Who Am I? / The Trial”) looks incredibly rushed when taken out of the abstract. In staging  Les Misérables for screen, Hooper has taken a relatively naturalistic and grounded approach to the musical, a choice that’s better suited to the subject matter of the story than to the fact that it takes place entirely in song. The vocals were recorded live on set, the backdrops are grimy in a poetic period Gallic style and the big numbers are frequently recorded in close-up, the camera holding on intimate shots of the performers as they stand or sit and sing. The film (which was shot by Danny Cohen, who also served as cinematographer on The King’s Speech ) treats its songs as it would dialogue, except that dialogue rarely involves spouting about one’s feelings at length out loud to no one, a tic that makes much more sense set to music. It’s an infuriatingly static way to shoot musical numbers, and it diminishes the bombastic grandeur many of these songs have.  Éponine (singer and stage actress Samantha Barks) belts out her anguish about her unrequited love while huddled against a pillar; on the big sequence “One Day More” we cut abruptly between different faces as if everyone’s in their own individual music video. It’s only Russell Crowe in the role of Javert, the police inspector who’s devoted his life to chasing down Valjean, who gets the kind of grandiose staging the material demands in his two big songs, as he wanders along prominent Parisian landmarks and the camera swings out to take in the city. Crowe is, perhaps not coincidentally, the weakest singer, and despite his musical side career looks uncomfortable in the role of Javert, his concentration all seeming to go toward his serviceable warbling rather than acting. But much of the rest of the cast is terrific, particularly not-so-secret theater geeks Jackman and  Anne Hathaway , who settle into their roles like they’ve spent their lives waiting for this opportunity. Hathaway’s in fact so good as Fantine, the factory worker forced into prostitution to support her daughter Cosette near the start of the story, that the film staggers a bit after her character departs, her killer rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” one of its emotional highlights.  Eddie Redmayne’s a pleasant surprise as Marius, the idealistic student torn between his love for the grown Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) and his desire to join his friends at the barricades for the uprising — the lovers tend to be the two blandest characters in the ensemble, but he finds a genuine gallantry and sweetness to the would-be revolutionary.  Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter , on the other hand, play designated comic relief couple the Thénardiers even broader than that description would suggest — though “Master of the House” is one of the most dynamically staged of the songs, the tonal difference between their appearances and the rest of the film is jolting. Even at a generous running time that matches this season’s other giant award candidates,  Les Misérables seems like it’s in a hurry, skittering from one number to the next without interlude. After Hathaway’s early high point, it starts to feel numbing, an unending barrage of musical emoting carrying us through Valjean’s adopting of Cosette, the latter’s first encounter with Marius, the battle at the barricade and a last hour that can feel like it’s a non-stop series of death arias. But even if this isn’t a great screen adaptation of the musical, there’s no resisting the ending, which pairs the film’s two brightest stars and then has everyone join in on a reprise of “Do You Hear The People Sing?” Say, do you hear the distant drums? Maybe not, but at that moment the voices coming from the screen and the tune they’re crooning are rousing enough to draw a few tears. Follow Alison Willmore on Twitter . On October 20, 2012 I met Justin Bieber for the second time. My mom and I were driving 10 hours from Michigan to Minnesota for the concert. On our way there, we had to stop because it was late and we were tired. When we got to the hotel my mom got an email “Congratulations Melissa! You’re officially invited to attend the photo meet and greet TOMORROW NIGHT, October 20th in Minneapolis, Minnesota!” My mom and I both started to jump up and down in excitement. The first time I met Justin, I didn’t get a hug because he was sick. I had made it my goal to get my hug the Believe tour. We were both way too excited to sleep now but we went to our room and got everything ready for the next day. When we got to the venue, we waited outside and after a while we saw some dancers, his bass player, and the photographer. We gave them all bracelets that say ‘BELIEVE’ on them. (We gave those to everyone on the crew we met) We also showed them the necklace that my mom made for Justin. They all said he would love it. It was finally time to go pick up the meet and greet passes and go wait in line. While waiting, I saw Dan Kanter so I went over and gave him the necklace my mom made for him and a bracelet. He thanked me and said he remembered me from the last tour because of the picture book we gave him. I almost died when he said that! We took a picture with him wearing the necklace then he said he had to go check on his friends that were going to meet Justin. In line, we met two girls who had never met him before and we told them that if us four got to go together, we would let them stand next to Justin in the picture since I already have. When we got near the front of the line, we called Kenny over and gave him a bracelet. He thanked us and told us to have fun! Now we were at the front. Just about 30 seconds away from meeting the most amazing guy EVER. When we walked through the curtain, his grandma, grandpa, and Ryan Butler were all lined up against the wall just watching everyone’s reactions to seeing Justin. They all had the biggest smiles. We walked over to Justin and he went to put an arm around my mom and said “Hi mom!!” My mom said “Hi honey! I’ve already met you, let her stand next to you,” and put the other girl in her place. We took the picture and as we were about to get rushed out. I turned to Justin and said “Can I please have a hug?” He smiled and said, “Of course! Come here!” And I got my hug. After 2 years of waiting, it finally happened. Then again, as we were being rushed out, I told Justin I had gifts for him. You aren’t supposed to be able to give him the gifts personally, but as they tried taking it from me, someone stepped in and said “No. SHE has to give that to him personally! Let her give that to him!” I gave him the necklace and the BELIEVE bracelet and he told me “Thank you.” I said “You’re welcome. My mom actually made the necklace for you.” He looked down at the necklace, then up to my mom, then back into my eyes and said “Thank you so much. This is so cool!” I told him you’re welcome and said goodbye. I walked out and completely lost it. I had just stared into Justin Bieber’s eyes. He held eye contact that whole time! And we were practically holding hands as I gave him the gift! We found out on Monday (on our way home from the concert the next day), that he put the necklace on right after we left. Scrappy also posted a picture on Sunday of him and Justin, and Justin had the necklace on again! I couldn’t believe he actually wore it. We were in shock. I also saw him on October 21, October 23, and October 24. On October 23, I actually helped 2 girls get tickets from Scooter, telling him how much they deserved to get in. It was a great feeling and I’ll never forget it. Thank you Justin, Scooter, Kenny, Dan, and everyone else I met that past weekend. I love you all and I’ll see you guys in November with your blankets! -JoHanna (@JoHannaBeliebes) Link: On October 20, 2012 I met Justin Bieber for the second time. My…
