NeNe Leakes is taking over TV. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star and recurring “Glee” actress is adding another acting credit to her ever-expanding resume with Ryan Murphy’s new NBC comedy “The New Normal.” The New Normal” follows the Beverly Hills couple as they try to start a family. The two turn to a surrogate, Goldie (Georgia King), with Ellen Barkin co-starring as Goldie’s Archie Bunker-esque grandma. So where does NeNe come in? “I’m Rocky, one of the gay guy’s assistants,” NeNe told The Huffington Post on the red carpet for NBC’s upfront presentations in New York on Monday. “I take it very personal, honey, if you talk about my gays, honey. Only I can talk about them and I’m fabulous. “She’s very different from Roz Washington on ‘Glee’; she’s always in workout outfits and sneakers. Rocky wears high heels every day. This is very fitting for me because in my real life, you don’t mess with my gays, honey,” NeNe said, snapping. “I don’t play that.” Nene is on the come up! The news became a trending topic on Twitter almost instantly, with the social-networking site’s millions of users — including celebrities — issuing countless tweets of thanks to the president. “Bravo, Mr. President, and thank you,” Neil Patrick Harris a tweeted . The actor is engaged to his longtime partner, David Burtka, and the pair adopted twins together in 2010. “Open our hearts & minds! Proud of Obama for speaking up,” wrote “Glee” actress Dianna Agron , with co-star Chris Colfer tacking his happy thoughts onto those of Ellen DeGeneres: “I second! RT @TheEllenShow: Thank you President @BarackObama for your beautiful and brave words. The glitz and glamour of a red carpet appearance can be a bit fascinating for some Hollywood stars, however for “Glee” actress, Amber Riley the experience recently led to a dizzying moment: Last night 26-year-old Riley collapsed while conducting interviews during a panel discussion during a special TV Academy event honoring the hit musical show. Immediately following the scary moment Riley took to her Twitter account to inform fans of how photographers contributed to the mishap. “Hey guys, I’m okay. I got a little dizzy from all the photog flashes,” she wrote. “You’d think I’s be used to it by now, still a red carpet amateur I guess. Gonna get checked out but I feel fine. Thank you for all the concern and well wishes.” I’d also like to thank the photographers for being do (sic) professional and not taking photos of me on the ground. I truly, truly appreciate it. Along the way, we lost some of the early front-runners , including the Backstreet Boys , ‘NSYNC , New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men . Just because the Boyz were knocked out in the second round of the competition doesn’t mean they don’t have their die-hard fans out there — among them “Glee” star Dianna Agron. “When I was growing up, it was ‘NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees,” Agron told MTV News of the late-’90s boy-band explosion. “I was so obsessed with Boyz II Men in fourth grade. ‘Motownphilly’ — so good, so awesome.” The R&B group is a favorite of Monica ‘s as well. “My favorite boy band would have to be New Edition and Boyz II Men,” she told MTV News. “I don’t know if you consider these boy bands though, but they were just unbelievable.” Another popular choice was ‘NYSNC, who made a shocking first-round exit when they lost in the final moments of voting to British boy band 5ive . Justin Timberlake and company ruled the charts (and the hearts of teen girls everywhere) in the late ’90s. “I would say ‘NSYNC was my favorite boy band. They’re amazing, they were so talented,” former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day said. “Obviously Justin came from that. We all know we were sweating Justin!” Posters of Timberlake most certainly lined the walls of millions of fans, including Selena Gomez, who revealed to MTV News that her first crush was the former ‘NSYNC member. Of course, picking just one boy band isn’t always easy, which was the problem for Roc Nation’s newest member, British singer Rita Ora . “My ultimate boy band, I have a few: Jackson 5, Jagged Edge — I love Jagged Edge,” Ora said. ” ‘NSYNC, they were the ones, I swear.” But when “Jersey Shore” star Vinny Guadagnino picked his ultimate boy band, he opted for keeping it in the MTV family. “I kinda liked 2ge+her ,” Vinny admitted. “I loved [‘U + Me = Us’].” Voting for the Elite Eight in MTV’s Battle of the Boy Bands runs until noon ET on Wednesday, May 2. But who will have more fun: the fans or the headliners? During their nine-city Under the Influence of Music run , the Pittsburgh boys are planning plenty of backstage fun. “Your little crew better get your little selves together, ’cause T.G.O.D. is coming,” Wiz told Mac, playfully threatening his labelmate when they both appeared on “RapFix Live” on April 25. “Let’s go, Most Dope versus Taylor Gang. It’s on,” Mac responded all smiles, pumping up his rap crew. Wiz and company get plenty competitive on the road. Fans got a taste of the fun in Khalifa’s second “Taylor Gang” video , which he released in September. The Bill Paladino-directed clip is composed of concert footage from Wiz’s 2011 Rolling Papers Tour. In addition to onstage shots, there are plenty of clips of team T.G.O.D. playing pranks and shooting Super Soaker water guns. “We play basketball, water fights, we ride bikes,” Wiz said of the Taylors’ backstage antics. “We’re gonna climb mountains on bikes.” Last year, Wiz and Mac went out on the Green Carpet Tour , but their respective careers have grown exponentially since then and anticipation for their latest run is building. Mac is particularly excited. “We should do team building. Somewhere, that gargoyle Rosie O’Donnell is cackling. Lindsay Lohan’s tenure on the Glee set may not go down as her finest hour, according to a source quoted by E! who claims she was ” incredibly late ” and that production had to send a car to the Chateau Marmont hotel to pick her a$$ up. Par for the course really. “Lindsay was a total nightmare yesterday,” says one (clearly less than thrilled) source on the Glee set of their guest star. “She was three hours late in the morning.” “When she did arrive, she just didn’t want to be there. She did not want to work. She had not memorized her lines, and kept disappearing so no one could find her.” Some staffers on set were so miffed, they dubbed her “That Girl,” adding, “She has rubbed them all up the wrong way by being so disrespectful of everyone else.” On the flip side, a highly placed Glee source says Lohan’s scene went “really great, she was so professional and it looked like everything was going to go so well.” Lindsay’s spokesman Steve Honig insists she was late because of a “misunderstanding” about her call time, and is displeased with this report. He says: “The production team came to us and said that they wanted to start [with Lindsay] right after lunch, which was at 2. They wanted to begin with Lindsay at 3.” “That meant she had a lot of time where she wasn’t doing anything. That’s why people didn’t see her. She was in hair and makeup and began after lunch at 3.” He adds: “If there was a problem, I would have just said ‘no comment,’ however I can’t ignore this because this is utter B.S. This is a classic example of people trying to bash Lindsay. She busted her ass yesterday and is back on set again today.” Another well-placed Glee source adds that despite the tardiness woes yesterday, “Everyone on Glee is still rooting for Lindsay. We had made a few jokes at her expense earlier in the show, and we really do want her to be able to succeed.” Lohan, who will also star in an upcoming Elizabeth Taylor biopic , has come under fire lately from O’Donnell, who warns she could end up like Whitney Houston.
