‘Harry Potter’ Fans Ready For ‘Twilight’ Battle Next Year

‘ ‘Twilight’ has this incredibly hard-core fanbase that apparently cannot be beat,’ says one Potter expert. By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Josh Wigler Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” swept the 2011 MTV Movie Awards , and “Harry Potter” fans are not too pleased about it. On Monday (June 6), MTV News caught up with some of the head honchos at leading “Harry Potter” fan sites so they could weigh in on the “Potter” versus “Twilight” Movie Awards rivalry . Some shared their theories about why “Twilight” seems to beat out the Boy Who Lived every time they’re in the same category. “It is a shame because ‘Potter’ definitely deserves it, but ‘Twilight’ has this incredibly hard-core fanbase that apparently cannot be beat,” said Andrew Sims of MuggleNet . “I just hope that next year at the next Movie Awards ‘Potter’ fans actually learn their lesson and get voting.” Although “Potter” fans couldn’t overcome Twilighter fervor, #teampotter did jump to the number two trending topic worldwide on Twitter during the Movie Awards pre-show. Julia Hodges of DanRadcliffe.com and RupertGrint.net was disappointed “Harry Potter” didn’t come away any of the night’s awards — other than Best Villain for Tom Felton — that she believed the series truly deserved. “The ‘Potter’ films [are] not only amazing for the people who love ‘Harry Potter,’ they’re amazing films,” Hodges said. “They’ve been nominated for so many Oscars and they’ve actually won a few, and they were just recognized at the most recent BAFTA awards for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema, so the quality of the ‘Potter’ films alone is incredible.” But Rosi Halse of the Leaky Cauldron wouldn’t let the fact that “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” didn’t collect a bunch of Golden Popcorn statues dampen her love of the series. “The ‘Harry Potter’ fanbase is so huge, and we know we love the films and we love the stories and we love the actors,” she said. “I think you can’t help but be proud whether or not they did miss out on the awards.” Next year’s Movie Awards will be the last time a film in the “Harry Potter” franchise will be eligible to compete at the awards show, and the fan sites are already planning to rally Potter-heads to come out in full force and actually bring home some Golden Popcorn. After seeing an exclusive scene from the “Deathly Hallows, Part 2” during the Movie Awards, Halse said she’s convinced that 2012 could be the year of “Potter.” “If that is just a preview of what’s to come, I think it will definitely walk away with a few awards next year,” she said. ‘Breaking Dawn’ Trailer: Best Fan Squeals And Sighs

Twilighters recorded their reactions to the teaser, and we picked our faves. By Kara Warner Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” trailer Photo: Summit Entertainment At the 2011 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner presented the first look at the trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” Knowing what a fan frenzy the first teaser would create, we asked our dedicated viewers and readers to record and upload their squeal-tastic “Breaking Dawn” reactions to Your.MTV.com , and promised that the top videos would air on MTV’s ” The Seven ” on Monday (June 6). Naturally, you did not disappoint. The winning video is, as expected, chock-full of all the things we’ve come to know and love from the most die-hard “Twilight” fans: girlish squeals and gasps of delight, jumping up and down, sighs and swoons all over the place. It is filled with such genuine adoration and emotion, it’s almost impossible not to be charmed by the two adorable young ladies from Denmark, who posted their video with the user name AgneteFlygerHansen . (CHECK OUT PHOTOS OF THE “TWILIGHT” CAST’S BIG MOVIE AWARDS NIGHT.) In addition to the delighted Danes, Sophia from Hawaii sent in her less vocal but equally intense reaction, followed by Jessika from Tennessee, who tried to control her excited screams by reacting silently. She puts her hands in front of her face, jumps up and down a bit, giddily, but keeps herself from going from silent, shaky glee to full-on screaming. Finally, there is AisyDaisyLady in Michigan, who also practices some of the quiet restraint Jessika did, but in doing so, comes closer to shedding more tears of joy than her fellow submitters. The reactions don’t stop there. We also solicited expert opinions from a few of the most devoted and trusted fan sites . “I am blown away. I can’t believe they showed as much as they did,” Kara Hassell of TwilightersAnonymous.com gushed. “I’m so excited. I didn’t think they would hit as many points as they did. I am very pleased with Bill Condon and how he treated it.” “Completely amazing, completely mind-blowing. Up until this, my favorite trailer was the ‘New Moon’ trailer, and Bill Condon definitely got Chris Weitz; it’s got everything in it that you need,” said Laura Byrne-Cristiano of TwilightLexicon.com . “That’s pretty steamy for a PG-13 movie,” she added. “The thing that made me laugh in a good way right away was Rob Pattinson gripping that headboard, and hearing that crack noise is spectacular.” “The trailer was fantastic,” Kallie Matthews from TwilightSeriesTheories.com weighed in. “It had way more than I thought it would, but it still just wasn’t quite enough. … I was so excited that they had Bella pregnant. The fans are excited about that and we got to see it. I am thrilled; can’t wait to see the next.” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Jennifer Hudson Joins ‘Three Stooges’ Cast

The singer/actress will play a nun in the Farrelly brothers’ long-in-the-works movie based on the classic comedy trio. By Gil Kaufman Jennifer Hudson Photo: Getty Jennifer Hudson is headed back to the big screen, and you’ll never guess in which movie. The Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer/actress has been cast as a nun in the Farrelly brothers’ long-gestating film “The Three Stooges.” According to The Hollywood Reporter , Hudson will play one of the nuns in the orphanage where the Stooges spend some time as children alongside “Glee” star Jane Lynch, who has been cast as Mother Superior in the film. Hudson’s Sister Rosemary will be among a trio of nuns that reportedly will also include “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David. After years of false starts and attempts to reboot the classic eye-poking, head-bonking comedy franchise with stars such as Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey, the movie now is being headlined by the trio of Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamontopoulos. “The Three Stooges” is slated to hit theaters after Hudson’s already-filmed Winnie Mandela biopic, “Winnie.” Hudson has appeared in a number of other films since her star-making turn in 2006’s “Dreamgirls,” including “Sex and the City,” “The Secret Life of Bees” and the little-seen “Winged Creatures” (also known as “Fragments”). The Three Stooges, the dimwitted trio originated by Moe Howard, Curly Howard and Larry Fine, starred in nearly 200 shorts and movies from 1930 to Moe and Larry’s death in 1975 (Curly passed away in 1952), influencing countless comics along the way. With help from Curly replacements Shemp Howard, Joe Besser and Curly Joe DeRita, the comedy team explored the bromance long before the term was coined, loving and hating each other through numerous adventures that reimagined them as plumbers, soldiers, physicians and all-around numbskulls. Rather than being a biopic, the Farrellys have said in the past that their flick will be a modern-day take on the Stooges, most likely consisting of several short films within the movie. Lady Gaga Debuts ‘Glee’ Clip From ‘Born This Way’ Episode

Singer took to Facebook to share 50-second teaser that shows Mr. Schuester giving New Directions Gaga assignment. By James Dinh Lady Gaga Photo: Bryan Bedder/ Getty Images “Glee” is ready to go Gaga all over again. But this time, the New Directions gang will not only pay tribute to the pop star, they’ll also embrace themselves in an episode devoted to self-acceptance. Lady Gaga took to her Facebook on Friday (April 22) and premiered a clip from the highly anticipated episode, which airs Tuesday. In the preview, Mr. Schuester tells the club they’ll be performing songs of self-love, including a group number of the singer’s hit “Born This Way.” Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) kicks off the 50-second teaser by asking Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) why Ms. Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) is attending their glee club meeting. Schuester tells the students that the guidance counselor will be helping out with the weekly assignment. “Now, this is the only club at school that is represented by just about every race, religion, sexual orientation and clique, but many of are you are still having a hard time with acceptance,” he says. Despite rebuttals from the students, the club director explains that while they may embrace one another, they still don’t accept themselves — for all of their good and bad qualities. Mr. Schuester then reveals the two-part assignment: singing tunes of self-acceptance that highlight their best and worst aspects, as well as performing “Born This Way.” “We’re going to do a group number by the queen of self-love, Gaga. We’re going to perform her anthem to acceptance, ‘Born This Way,’ ” he tells the students, who break into cheers and applause. Back in January, “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy opened up about why he chose to feature the hit song in the episode, which has been super-sized to 90 minutes . “I love that that song is [an] anthem,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly. “This show is by nature optimistic, and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max [Adler, the actor] and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don’t really know what that’s going to be, but I do know we’re going to do a whole episode that’s about that song.” Are you excited for the “Born This Way” episode of “Glee”? Weigh in below!
