Katy Perry Joins ‘Glee’ Actor Darren Criss For ‘Teenage Dream’ Duet

By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry and Darren Criss Photo: Angela Weiss/ Toby Canham/ Getty Images While Katy Perry and “Glee” guest star Darren Criss have both had chart success with Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” the two had yet to perform the track together. Criss originally performed the tune on the hit Fox show, while Perry released it earlier this year as the second single from her album of the same name. The two finally took the stage together for the first time at the Trevor LIVE annual fundraising event held at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday night. Criss, dressed in a suit, was performing the track with the show’s Dalton Academy Warblers, when Perry, dressed in a sequin dress, hit the stage to belt out the last bit of the tune. Footage of the performance hit the Net shortly after the event. Other performances for the night included a spoken-word number from Queen Latifah as well as the Hollywood Bowl cast of “Rent” singing “Seasons of Love” and “Will I.” Kathy Griffin was honored by “Glee” star Jane Lynch for donating her paycheck from an L.A.-area stand-up gig to the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization that offers suicide-prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. Some of the other names in attendance included Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Rashida Jones, David Arquette, Sarah Silverman, Taye Diggs, Idina Menzel, Kate Walsh, Wayne Brady, Justin Long, Joe Manganiello, Kristin Davis, Brittany Snow, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, Josh Duhamel, Anna Kendrick, James Marsden and Jessica Alba. “She’s been really sweet,” Criss said of Perry’s support after his “Teenage Dream” performance on “Glee.” ” … It’s a great tune. I really lucked out that I got to sing that song. I mean, you’ve gotta sing what they give you.” Whose version of “Teenage Dream” do you prefer: Katy’s or Darren’s? Which Glee Cast Members Are in Danger of Being Replaced?

This week Glee creator Ryan Murphy announced that he will be kicking several of his New Directions stars to the curb in 2012 because “there is nothing more depressing than a high schooler with a bald spot.” Well, except for a middle-aged white-rapping teacher who chooses to relive his glory days by dancing suggestively in front of a packed high school auditorium…but I digress. This is a serious threat for not only devoted Gleeks, but for the less talented, more aged actors posing as promgoers. (I’m talking to you, Monteith). Below, Movieline identifies which stars are highest on the endangered Glee -cies list.

‘Glee’ Star Lea Michele Celebrates Grammy Nominations

The show’s cast is up for soundtrack and pop group awards. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Lea Michele Photo: MTV News Week after week, the “Glee” cast has been delivering catchy covers of songs that people already love, so it’s not surprising that in addition to big sales and ratings numbers, they’re starting to receive music industry accolades as well. And on Wednesday night, they managed to snag two Grammy nominations , not just for the obvious category — Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media — but also for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for their cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” “That’s so cool!” star Lea Michele (Rachel) said of the kudos. But she almost missed the news of their nods, since she was traveling to New York to attend the Billboard Women in Music Awards on Thursday (December 2). “I had to turn my phone off last night when we were taking of to come to New York, so up until the last minute I was texting my castmembers like, ‘What’s going on?’ ” she told MTV News on the red carpet of the Billboard event, where she was honored as a Triple Threat. “And then when I landed, I had, like, four from all of them like, ‘We got nominated!’ ” Funny enough, they are up against Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister” and Paramore’s “The Only Exception,” both of which have been reimagined on “Glee.” (Also nominated in the category are Maroon 5 for “Misery” and Sade for “Babyfather.”) And though the soundtrack nod is nothing to sneeze at, Michele has a soft spot for the Journey cover that was featured in the show’s season-one finale. “I’m so happy, especially that it’s for ‘Don’t Stop Believin’,’ which is for the whole cast, so that we all get to go,” she said. “That’s just awesome.” Which “Glee” cover do you think deserved a Grammy nomination? Quentin Tarantino Fears His ‘Big Chin’ Will Be Roast Target

‘I’m not going to give them any ammunition!’ director tells MTV News before Friars Club roast. By Eric Ditzian Quentin Tarantino Photo: MTV News Far too early on a rainy and cold Wednesday morning (December 1) in Midtown Manhattan, Quentin Tarantino and his friends gathered for an infamous Friars Club roast. Afterward, the Oscar-winning writer/director may no longer be friends with the folks who hurled barbs his way, but on the pre-roast red carpet, everyone was in good spirits. As Tarantino walked the carpet before the festivities, he was determined not to let his pals know what was most “roast-able” about him. “I’m not going to give them any ammunition! If Sarah Silverman hasn’t realized I have a big chin, I’m not going to bring it up right now,” he laughed to MTV News. Silverman, a veteran of Comedy Central roasts, was just a few feet away and admitted, “I have no good chin jokes!” “I’m not going to feed you any right now!” he told her. OK, so he might be a little sensitive about that chin. But going after sensitive territory is exactly what roasts are all about. Just take it from director Eli Roth. “You have to find the most personal, sensitive thing that he doesn’t want anybody to know and exploit it to the fullest,” he explained. “When you give a speech at a roast, it should end your career. I want people to go, ‘Eli went too far. That was not funny. That was sick.’ I want people to be offended.” Perhaps some people will be offended by the story radio shock-jock Howard Stern related to us. “[Tarantino] came on my show and was casually talking about smoking hash with Brad Pitt. Quentin went to Brad Pitt’s house to convince him to be in ‘Inglourious Basterds’ and then they started talking about hash. I think Brad had some agreement with his wife that he wasn’t going to smoke and all hell broke loose.” Comedian Jeffrey Ross certainly knew what he was doing when he told us one joke he’s got lined up for the roast: “Have you ever seen his forehead? His next movie is premiering on it.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
