Andy Samberg ‘Psyched’ To Be Adam Sandler’s Son

Trailer for ‘That’s My Boy,’ starring the ‘SNL’ duo, debuts Thursday on MTV.com. By Josh Wigler Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler in “That’s My Boy” Photo: Columbia Pictures Peanut butter and jelly, popcorn and movies, baseball and springtime — all winning combinations that never fail to put a smile on your face. On June 15, 2012, you’ll be able to add another prized combo to that list: Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg. The two “Saturday Night Live” legends are joining forces for a new Happy Madison comedy called “That’s My Boy,” hitting theaters this June. In the film, Sandler stars as a down-on-his luck man trying to reconnect with his estranged family on the week of his son’s (Samberg) wedding. It’s a bizarre setup — after all, Sandler is only 12 years older than Samberg in real life — but, as one would hope, the film offers a reliably ridiculous explanation for the small age gap. If the basic premise and the involvement of actors Sandler and Samberg don’t have you fired up for “That’s My Boy,” just wait: The first official trailer is set to drop on MTV.com on Thursday, and Samberg himself couldn’t be more excited for it. “I never thought I would actually get to be in a movie with Sandler, certainly not playing his son,” Samberg told MTV News ahead of the trailer’s release. “For me, I’ve been such a huge fan of his for so long; I used to listen to ‘Billy Madison’ on audio cassette in my Walkman. I’m a real-deal Sandler fan. I’d definitely put [this experience] up there with being cast on ‘SNL’ or any of the other things I’ve gotten to do — making [Lonely Island] records with my buddies — things I’ve always dreamed of happening but never thought they would. I’m pretty psyched.” As a self-declared “real-deal Sandler fan,” Samberg was far from disappointed when it came to watching the comedy legend do his thing on the “That’s My Boy” set. “Sandler is basically on fire in this movie,” he said. “In real life, he’s about the sweetest dad I’ve ever seen. But in the movie, he’s a bit of a train wreck. If we were making a documentary, it would be called ‘Sweet Loving Dad.’ But I think [‘That’s My Boy’] is going to be a little bit more entertaining and edgy than that.” Stay tuned to MTV News on Thursday for the “That’s My Boy” trailer premiere! Adele Tells Vogue She’s ‘Done With Being A Bitter Witch’

Grammy winner graces the March cover and tells the magazine that she’s ‘never writing a breakup record again.’ By Jocelyn Vena Adele Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ FilmMagic Shortly after winning six Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 12) night, Adele told reporters in the press room that “it hasn’t really sunk in,” and in a just released interview and cover story with Vogue (which had been rumored late last year), she opened up about her pre-Grammys nerves and her hope that she would take home some Grammy gold for her chart-topping, record-breaking 21 . “I burst into tears when I found out,” she told the magazine about her nominations. “And I would love, absolutely love, to win. This record is coming to an end, and that would be the final brick on it.” (She eventually went on to sweep the show, winning the night’s big prizes, Record of the Year and Album of the Year.) On Sunday, she triumphantly returned to the stage to characteristically belt out her star-making breakup track, “Rolling in the Deep.” And when she spoke to Vogue in late 2011 for the interview, she already knew that was the song she wanted to return with. “I’m definitely going to be singing ‘Rolling in the Deep,’ ” she teased. “Because that’s been the biggest hit off the record in America. But I’m going to mix up a little bit — do a bit of a Beyonc

Justin Bieber And Esperanza Spalding: One Year Since Their Grammy Showdown

MTV News looks at what the artists have been up to since Spalding beat out Bieber for Best New Artist at the 2011 Grammys. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber performs at the 2011 Grammy Awards Photo: Lester Cohen/ WireImage Last year, Esperanza Spalding beat out sure bets like Justin Bieber, Florence and the Machine and Drake when she won the Best New Artist prize at the 2011 Grammy Awards . The loss was particularly hard on Bieber , who spoke to MTV News shortly after the loss. “I had no clue what was going to happen; I worked really hard these past few years, and you know, I’m not going to lie — I was disappointed,” Bieber told MTV News at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. “But, you know, I’m gonna come back [next year] and we’ll take a few home. … I’m inspired to work harder than I did last year. It’s going to be hard, but I’m going to try.” Spalding was nearly as floored by the win as Bieber. “I really didn’t think it was going to be me,” she told MTV News backstage. “I was one of those [surprised] people. … It was so unexpected, that’s the truth. I’m grateful to all my people in my big musical family that have given me so much support and help over the years. I don’t really think this is for me; it’s for all of us. And I wish they could all be here to put one finger on this with me.” In the 12 months since last year’s Grammy show, Bieber has been everywhere and has certainly lived up to his promise to work hard. He’s released new music as well as lots of splashy music videos, gone on an arena-filling world tour, dropped a box-office-busting 3-D concert film, hit the studio for his upcoming album Believe and kept teen girls screaming with an onslaught of various new hairstyles and photo ops. Spalding, on the other hand, has managed to fly under the radar in the time since she took home Grammy gold. However, this March she plans to get back on the scene and release her new album, Radio Music Society, her follow-up to Chamber Music Society, the 2010 album that helped bring national attention to her at the Grammys last year. “Originally I thought it would be fun to release a double album,” she said in a statement about the soon-to-be released album. “One disc with an intimate, subtle exploration of chamber works and a second one in which jazz musicians explore song forms and melodies that are formatted more along the lines of what we would categorize as pop songs. Those are the two things that really interest me, and it intrigues me to think about different presentation approaches while writing each kind of song.” As she sets out to celebrate the anniversary of her win, Spalding dropped a new track, “Black Gold,” to radio, and earlier this month she premiered the video for it. She’ll also hit the road for a tour that kicks off in April and wraps up in June. Interestingly enough, Bieber is also set to drop his new album later this year, for which he’s enlisted Drake, will.i.am, Pharrell and Lil Wayne. Could it mean there will be another Bieber/Spalding showdown at the 2013 Grammy Awards? Only time will tell. Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Chris Brown To Remain On Supervised Probation

Singer gets positive report from court, but ordered to remain on probation. By Gil Kaufman Chris Brown Photo: Getty Images In a status hearing on Thursday in Los Angeles, a judge said that Chris Brown is doing a good job complying with the terms of his sentence for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, but that he must remain under the supervision of a probation officer for the time being. According to the Associated Press , Brown was not in court for the hearing where his attorney asked that the singer’s supervised probation end thanks to his good behavior. Superior Court judge George Lomeli, however, agreed with prosecutors, who argued that even with Brown’s good marks to date, he should keep reporting to a probation officer in his home state, Virginia. Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, attempted to end the probation, which is part of the sentence Brown received in June 2009 when he agreed to a plea deal
in which he plead guilty to one count of felony assault and was sentenced to 180 days of community labor and five years of probation. Geragos pointed to a probation report that said that Brown had been truthful with officers, passed all required drug tests and “has made great strides” while under probation. To date, Brown has completed half of the six months of roadside cleanup, graffiti removal and other manual labor he was ordered to do under the terms of the deal. But the AP reported that Lomeli didn’t think it was unreasonable for Brown to say under supervision while he finishes the rest of his community service hours. The singer has already completed anger management and domestic violence counseling and a different judge in the case agreed last year to relax a restraining order that barred Brown and Rihanna from contacting each other or getting too close to one another at music industry events. The hearing came just days before Brown and Rihanna are slated to return to the Grammy stage
for the first time since the February 2009 assault. In advance, tongues have already begun wagging, with rumors flying last month that the exes have reunited recently and have been spending time together again. Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Is Nicki Minaj A Lock For Best New Artist Grammy?

Femcee seems anything but ‘new’ at this point, but it remains to be seen if her domination translates to Grammy gold come Sunday. By Rob Markman Nicki Minaj Photo: Getty Images It’s getting increasingly difficult to think of Nicki Minaj as a new artist. If you judge the Young Money raptress by the time she’s spent in the game, then she is no doubt a newcomer. On the other hand, if you measure the “Super Bass” star by her accomplishments, then she has accumulated enough stats in 14 months to rival some industry veterans. Though it may seem unfair to some that she is even nominated, Nicki’s accelerated artistic growth makes her a heavy favorite in the Best New Artist category at the 54th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. When weighted against other Best New noms like the Band Perry, Bon Iver, J. Cole and Skrillex, Nicki’s path is a unique one. She started out an MC but grew into so much more under the direction of YM head honcho Lil Wayne. When Weezy first discovered Minaj rapping on a street DVD, she was as cocksure and combative as any of her male counterparts, but after signing with Young Money, Nicki used the platform to amplify the natural performance talents that existed within. There were glimpses on her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty, but it wasn’t until the Harajuku Barbie dropped her debut, Pink Friday, in November 2010 that her full potential was unleashed, when she displayed her passion for both rapping and singing. Yes, technically her debut album was released in the 2010 calendar year, but the Grammy calendar does leave wiggle room and make her eligible for the Best New Artist nomination. The Queens, New York, rap star didn’t start out the gate as hot as some speculated, but she did snag the #1 album spot on the Billboard charts in her 11th week. In October 2010, Minaj set a record for having the most singles on the Hot 100, notching seven songs at the same time. “Your Love,” “Right Thru Me” and the Drake-featuring “Moment 4 Life” all made significant radio impact, but it was “Super Bass” that proved to be her biggest and most inescapable hit. Nicki, with the help of alter ego Roman, has emerged as a strong visual artist as well through her “Moment 4 Life” video and the super colorful “Super Bass.” The rap rook has also toured with Britney Spears and Lil Wayne. It’s also important to note that Nicki’s prowess in the studio has led her to be a ubiquitous figure in pop culture. She has had a Barbie doll made in her likeness, inked a deal for her own nail polish with OPI, became the face of MAC’s 2012 Viva Glam campaign and has either appeared on the covers or shot for too many glamour magazines to name. Yes, Nicki Minaj does seem to be a lock for Best New Artist, but then again, this is the Grammys and no one ever thought Esperanza Spalding would beat out pop icon Justin Bieber . So maybe the Band Perry have a shot after all. Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Mac Miller Shows Off His Favorite Pittsburgh Studio

ID Labs producer E. Dan tells MTV News, ‘There’s definitely a sound within the people that work out of here.’ By Rob Markman Sayez and Mac Miller Photo: MTV News Contrary to popular belief, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller didn’t grow up together. Though they both hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, are signed to Rostrum Records and have jumped out into the national spotlight, the bond that they share didn’t start in the streets of the ‘Burgh — but instead at ID Labs music studio. E. Dan opened ID Labs in 2003, and since then he’s recorded some of the city’s biggest hits inside the dusty, vinyl-laced studio. Wiz Khalifa’s classic 2010 mixtape Kush & Orange Juice and a huge chunk of his gold major-label debut Rolling Papers were recorded in ID Labs, as was Mac’s Best Day Ever mixtape and his #1 debut Blue Slide Park. The studio has been pivotal in Mac’s development, so a few hours before his first homecoming show on December 9 , he took MTV News on a tour of ID Labs. “There’s definitely a sound within the people that work out of here,” E. Dan says of his studio and its in-house producers, Big Jerm and Sayez. “It’s hard for me to say what an actual definitive sound of Pittsburgh is; I think it’s probably a combination of a lot of stuff. We’re not in New York; we’re not in L.A.; we’re not in one of the epicenters of hip-hop. I feel like, we’re, if anything, a combination of all that.” Mac Miller returns to Blue Slide Park. Sledgren, who isn’t technically a part of the ID Labs production team but frequently works out of the studio, remembers what it was like coming up with a sound for Wiz’s Kush & Orange Juice . “We were just young goin’ to the club, knowing what everybody wanted to hear, and we just gave that our own twist,” he said of how he and Wiz came up with tracks like “Never Been.” For Sayez to think that two artists of Wiz and Mac’s magnitude just so happened to come out of ID Labs is mind-blowing. “That’s just crazy that two of the major players in today’s hip-hop culture, music culture are doing it so big that they just happened to come through this building,” he said. “Everybody who worked in this building … put in ridiculous amounts of work and sacrificed so much to be able to put out good music and be there and try and get the city movement goin’.” Wiz Khalifa motivates Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming artists. The fact is, both Khalifa and Miller have the option of working in higher-end studios with more notable producers, but the fact that they choose to keep coming back to the ‘Burgh to work in ID Labs speaks fathoms. “It felt great, Wiz coming back to work on his album because he could’ve worked with anybody,” Big Jerm said of the Rolling Papers sessions that took place in ID Labs. “He could’ve been in with Pharrell, but he chose to come back here. I think it’s just comfortable for him, he’s comfortable with us. I think it’s a good situation for everybody really.” Stick with MTV News all week as Mac Miller takes us back to the ‘Burgh and spotlights the city’s vibrant hip-hop scene. Mischa Barton’s Bikini Pics of the Day

I used to do a Mischa Barton death watch back when she was in therapy and tending to some kind of addiction I’m not sure was ever exploited or explained for the sheer fact that no one gives a fuck about Mischa Barton and whether she died tomorrow or even 4 years ago…no one’s life would really fucking change…she’s a low impact celebrity…. Either way, she was bloated, disgusting to look at, unshowered and she likely stank…but for some reason she pulled it together…probably thanks to the millions in her bank and its ability to hire trainers and handlers…and now she’s looking tight enough bodied on the beach for me to want the disgusting sloppy past off her with my mouth…I’m weird like that.
