Lady Gaga Launches ‘Born This Way’ Countdown Clock

Single is set to premiere on February 13, same night Gaga will perform at Grammys. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: David Wolff-Patrick/ Getty Images The countdown is officially under way. On Sunday, having already teased fans with fashion-show promos and borderline terrifying short films, Lady Gaga took the next step in the march toward her Born This Way album, when she posted a rapidly descending countdown clock on her website . What that clock is counting down to, of course, is the release of BTW ‘s first single (which just so happens to be the album’s title track), currently scheduled for Sunday, February 13 — the same night Gaga will perform at the Grammy Awards . So far, more than 43,000 Gaga fans have RSVP’d for the event through Facebook. That countdown clock isn’t the only bit of Born This Way -related news to sprout up in recent days. On Monday (January 24), Gaga fans were treated to a new promo image and some news about the “Born This Way” video. Monday morning, Gaga fansites began posting a new image , supposedly taken from a promo shoot, either for the album or the single. In the photo, a nude Gaga — or someone who looks very much like her — is looking skyward, black liquid pouring from her mouth, hair enveloping her body. Both of her fists are clenched, and on each finger she wears a ring with a different precious stone in the setting. A similar stone-covered piece appears to be stuck to her chest. But is the new image actually legit? When contacted by MTV News, a spokesperson for Lady Gaga’s management would only say it’s “not from [the] BTW shoot,” though again, it’s not clear whether the spokesperson was referring to the album or the single. As for the video, Gaga’s fashion director (and Thierry Mugler creative director) Nicola Formichetti took to his Twitter account to hype the clip, writing, “Ok kids, get ready for BTW. We’ve just created the most amazing thing ever.” Related Artists Lady Gaga

Patrick Stump Calls Reaction To A Cappella Grammy Video A ‘Happy Surprise’

Clip of Stump singing five songs nominated for Record of the Year has become a sensation. By James Montgomery Patrick Stump performs on YouTube Photo: Patrick Stump/ YouTube Earlier this week, Patrick Stump continued his slow march toward social-media proficiency (he even writes his own tweets now!) when he released a brand-new video of himself doing a cappella versions of the five songs nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammys. In the days since its premiere, the clip has become a sensation, something that has as much to do with his genuinely great vocal chops (and oddly mesmerizing bow tie) as it does with the fact that it’s not exactly clear why he decided to make the video in the first place. So we asked him. And as it turns out, Stump — who’s gearing up for the release of his solo debut, Soul Punk — never intended for the video to be made public, until he received some advice to the contrary. “I guess I decided to do the a cappella thing ’cause I’ve been put down as a musician a few times as ‘just a singer,’ and I wanted to kind of see how much [of] a musician I could be with just my voice,” Stump wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. “Choosing to sing the Grammy nominees started because ‘Nothin’ on You’ was in my head for a week, then ‘Empire State of Mind,’ and I’d seen they were both nominated. The whole thing just kind of came together naturally. I recorded it right around the time they were announced, I showed it to some friends and they were like, ‘Post this!’ ” So he did. Stump said that he’s been blown away by the reaction his a cappella clip has received, though that doesn’t mean he’s not above nitpicking. Not about the music, mind you: No, most of his criticisms have to do with his wardrobe decisions. “It’s just been one of those happy little unplanned pleasant surprises,” he wrote. “I should’ve worn a different shirt with that bow tie, though.” Related Artists Patrick Stump

Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Muse Added To Grammy Show

Usher, Jaden Smith, B.o.B, Janelle Monae and Lady Antebellum will also perform on February 13. The trio joins a list of new performers added to the show on Thursday (January 20) that will also include another power trifecta made up of B.o.B, Bruno Mars and Janelle Mon

Lady Gaga Rep Debunks Leaked Song Rumor

‘The reported leak is not a Gaga record,’ rep tells MTV News about ‘Animal.’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images When a new tune called “Animal” hit the Internet on Friday (January 14), many fans believed that the song was a Lady Gaga leak. Its thumping beat, dance-floor-inspired melody and lyrics about sex could easily be features of a Gaga track. And indeed, the website hosting the alleged leak labeled it a Lady Gaga song. But fans should know that “Animal” is in fact not a Lady Gaga song. “The reported leak is not a Gaga record,” a rep for the singer told MTV News. On the leaked track, a woman who sounds vaguely like the pop star sings, “I can see the way that you’re looking at me/ Like you’re hungry and I’m the only thing that you see/ Can’t tame you from the way you’re watching me/ Baby I’ll keep you up all night/ Gonna tie you up/ I’ll hit you right/ Animal, animal.” But new Gaga music is on the horizon. Born This Way is set for release on May 23, and Gaga will drop the first single from the album on February 13, the same day she is slated to perform at the Grammy Awards . Last month Gaga revealed that she would be dropping her hotly anticipated single in February, and she let her little monsters know how excited she is to share the song with them. “Thank you for all of your support and I cannot wait to play you Born This Way. It is killing me,” she said, adding that it will be “the greatest album of this decade. … I promise you, I’ll never let you down. And not for nothing: The album’s finished and it’s f—ing really good.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Lady Gaga Related Artists Lady Gaga

Exclusive: Eminem To Perform At The Grammys

Other performers for February 13 show will be announced Thursday. By Jayson Rodriguez Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/EM/WireImage Consider Eminem ‘s comeback complete. The superstar MC will take the stage at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards next month in Los Angeles, MTV News has learned exclusively. The Recording Academy will officially announce Em and other performers on Thursday; Pitchfork reported Wednesday (January 12) that Arcade Fire will also be performing at the awards show. The performance is the latest in a line of accomplishments for Eminem since he released Recovery, which is up for Album of the Year. The Detroit lyricist scored a pair of #1 singles from the album with “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna. Those songs helped Em earn 10 Grammy nominations . It’s quite a turnaround from his last project, Relapse. That album debuted at #1 but received mixed reviews, despite winning Best Rap Album at the 2009 Grammys. With Recovery, however, Em has returned to form. Now, he’s set to take center stage at the prestigious event. Twelve months ago, he joined Drake for the then-upstart’s “Forever” performance. But for this year’s telecast, the multiple Grammy winner will take top billing. He’s already been featured in the show’s promotional campaign . A touching 30-second spot showcases Em’s musical legacy , from the loss of his friend, fellow MC Proof, to his struggles through drug dependency and his rise back to the top of the hip-hop game. There’s no question the veteran MC will be the star of the festivities. In December, when nominations were revealed, the rapper led the pack, besting Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, who received seven and six nominations, respectively. The Grammys air Sunday, February 13, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. What song are you hoping Eminem performs at the Grammys? Let us know in the comments! Will Lady Gaga Perform At The Grammy Awards?

Gaga’s choreographer sends tweets suggesting that singer will take the stage at February 13 show. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga Photo: Florian Seefried/ Getty Images Could Lady Gaga be performing at the Grammy Awards? Well, if Laurieann Gibson’s tweets are to be believed, the answer could be yes. Gaga’s choreographer may have spilled the beans about a possible performance via her Twitter account on Tuesday. “Grammy meeting performance [extraordinaire]!!! On its way… TeamBoomkack,” she wrote . She followed up the tweet with a “yes” when a fan inquired if that was a hint that the Born This Way singer would be taking the stage at the big show on February 13. She also retweeted a fan’s comment expressing excitement about what Gaga and Gibson have in store for the performance. Other than Gibson’s tweets, no confirmation from Gaga or the Grammy team has been made, but the Grammy Awards do land on the same day that Gaga planned to release the first single off her May album, lending some credence to the speculation that she may take the stage at the big show. This year Gaga is up for six awards , including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for The Fame Monster, Best Female Pop Performance and Best Short Form Music Video for “Bad Romance,” Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for “Telephone,” her track with Beyonc

Rumors that she will perform it at the Grammy Awards February 13 appear to have been premature, however. Cry Me A River!: People In Hell Think They Deserve Water And Soulja Boy Thinks He Should’ve Won A Yeezy’s 2008 Grammy

Soulja Boy has accomplished a lot since he hit the scene. He had the entire world “Super Mannin’ Dat Hoe” and sold a million records on his first album but now he thinks he should have won a Grammy over Kanye West in 2008… GTFOH!!! NEW YORK (AP) — Soulja Boy is pulling a Kanye about Kanye West. The rapper’s breakthrough song, “Crank Dat (Soulja Boy),” was up for the best rap song Grammy in 2008, but lost to West’s party anthem, the T-Pain-assisted “Good Life.” Soulja Boy says initially he “wasn’t really thinking about it” and was optimistic that he would “get it next year.” Now, the 20-year-old says while recording his recently released third album, “The DeAndre Way,” he felt like “he should have got that Grammy.” The new CD has a song titled “Grammy,” which features singer-songwriter Ester Dean. Soulja Boy hopes that after the Grammy committee hears the track, it will change its “perception.” West has earned 14 Grammys; Soulja Boy has not been up for an award since “Crank Dat” was nominated. We will give Soulja Boy his props for breaking barriers and being successful but a Grammy… EEHHHHH WRONG TRY AGAIN!!! Source
