Kanye West May Join Rihanna At NBA All-Star Halftime Show

Yeezy is expected to make a surprise appearance at Sunday’s game. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: Ben Hider/Getty Images The talent roster at this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game is starting to get out of control. The Deadspin sports blog cited an unnamed “in-the-know-tipster” on Wednesday in reporting that Kanye West will “make a surprise appearance during Rihanna’s halftime show at the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles on Sunday.” It’s possible the two will perform the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy track “All of the Lights,” which features Rihanna singing alongside ‘Ye, Elton John, Fergie, Alicia Keys and more. It would make sense since that song is tipped to be the next single from West’s album and a music video is reportedly in the works. It’s not like Yeezy hasn’t expressed his love for the game before, including just recently, when he appeared in the Robert Rodriguez-directed short film promoting Kobe Bryant’s new line of Nike shoes. A representative for West had no comment when reached by MTV News to confirm the rumor, and reps for Rihanna and the NBA had not returned calls for comment at press time. In addition to Rihanna, Lenny Kravitz has been tapped to play at the game, performing before the tip-off during player introductions. Josh Groban will sing the national anthem and Melanie Fiona will do the honors on the Canadian anthem, while the “What’s My Name?” singer will provide the entertainment during the half. On Saturday, during the All-Star Saturday Night show, Keri Hilson will sing the national anthem and Cee Lo Green will serve up some “Forget You” during the three-point shooting contest. The Sprite Slam Dunk contest will be preceded by Far East Movement, who’ll perform their new single, “Rocketeer.” Friday night’s entertainment will be provided by Cali Swag District, who will “Teach Me How to Dougie” during the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam, which, like all of the All-Star events , will be shown on TNT. The NBA All-Star Game airs Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on TNT. Related Artists Kanye West Rihanna

Mystery Lindsay Lohan Late Show Agent Revealed: Michael Lohan!

The person who booked Lindsay Lohan on the Late Show with David Letterman this week without authorization was none other than her dad. Naturally. Michael Lohan says he signed her up to read the Top Ten list after getting the green light from Lindsay herself … apparently Lindsay saw it differently. Right after announcing LiLo’s appearance, CBS issued a retraction this morning, explaining that some impostor booked her without her authorization. Letterman’s people said that someone “purporting to be a friend of Lindsay’s” reached out to them and made the booking, but did not reveal a name. Lindsay did not explain this fiasco in much detail, but Tweeted late last night that she NEVER agreed to do the show and apologized for the confusion. Michael says he was behind it, that he got the idea after Dave cracked a joke at Lindsay’s expense during Friday’s “Top 10”, and Lindsay was into it. Again, perhaps he could have checked with Lindsay? Or did he and get jerked around by the recalcitrant star and/or members of her “camp”? Michael says Lindsay “knew full well” about the booking and even transportation from the L.A. studio, where she would do the bit via satellite. He insists everything was good until Lindsay’s reps shut it down. Naturally, the oft-estranged MiLo is pissed, complaining to TMZ that “Anything positive that I bring into her life … [her people] try to nix it.” Our advice to LL? Follow Charlie Sheen’s advice and get it together. Work on your impulse control and get your house in order! What a mess.

‘American Idol’ Brings The Pressure On Group Night

Early favorites Jacee Badeaux, Brett Loewenstern, Lauren Alaina survive, while other hopefuls went down in flames. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler, Jenniger Lopez and Randy Jackson at “American Idol” Hollywood Week Photo: Michael Becker / FOX Group night on “American Idol” is notoriously brutal. It’s full of attitude, fighting, ragged nerves and exhaustion. And that’s just from the audience at home watching the ridiculous diva behavior onscreen. But after pulling an all-nighter, a number of this year’s picks to click, including teens Jacee Badeaux and Lauren Alaina, as well Chris Medina, James Durbin, Brett Loewenstern and Chelsee Oaks, survived to sing another day, while some early favorites went down in flames, unable to handle the pressure. On Wednesday night’s (February 16) show, producers figured they’d up the ante this year on the contestants by telling them, after they’d already formed their groups, that they must be comprised of a mix of singers from day one and day two of last week’s Hollywood eliminations . That sent the 168 remaining wannabes scrambling to rework their sets. The first two segments were devoted to showing the high school lunchroom nightmare of singers desperate to find someone’s group to join and facing heart-crushing rejection at every turn. Then, with just 10 hours to perfect their songs amid the din of nearly 170 voices roaring at once, contestants grabbed any space they could, from bathrooms to parking garages, and got to work. The pressure almost claimed the fragile Ashley Sullivan, who came close to leaving the show, while 15-year-old Jacee Badeaux was booted from his group in the middle of the night and several other singers either got dumped or bailed on their ensembles at the 11th hour. On the verge of breaking up because they couldn’t find a day-two person, redheaded bullied belter Brett Loewenstern ‘s quartet was saved when they picked up Badeaux. When the singers finally got a chance to, well, sing, there were plenty of new or little-seen faces who shone. Among them were New Jersey auditioner and makeup artist Pia Toscano, 22, who did her sultry best on Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” in a trio that got the day started off right with yeses all around. Male diva Jordan Dorsey bailed on his group to join up with Robbie Rosen and sing a doo-wop version of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” setting up an intense rivalry with his old cohorts, but getting sweet revenge by moving on. His old pals, though, survived the breakup as well by nailing Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You.” Nobody wanted to be in a group with overconfident Tiffany Rios the night before, so the judges allowed her an exception to form a duo with tattooed blonde Jessica Yantz. “It was really bad,” Randy Jackson said, though, after the pair made a hot mess of Beyonc

Gwyneth Paltrow Will Tango To Prince’s ‘Kiss’ On ‘Glee’

Matthew Morrison also reveals a potential title for his solo debut album: My Name. By Aly Semigran Matthew Morrison and Gwyneth Paltrow appear on a previous episode of “Glee” Photo: Fox Step aside, Cee Lo Green (and puppets!) — Matthew Morrison has moved in on Gwyneth Paltrow for a “Glee” duet that will dare to rival the Oscar-winner’s show-stopping “Forget You” performance with the feathery singer at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Morrison stopped to chat with MTV News at Clive Davis’ post-Grammy party about Paltrow’s upcoming return to “Glee” as spacey substitute teacher (not to mention Mr. Schuester’s future love interest), Holly Holliday. And it certainly seems as though the folks at “Glee” don’t plan to squander Paltrow’s newest knack for bringing the funk. “Gwyneth and I just did ‘Kiss’ by Prince,” Morrison revealed. Perhaps upping the ante from their memorable, albeit soaked, “Singin’ in the Rain”/ “Umbrella” mash-up, Morrison also divulged that he and Paltrow are doing Prince’s 1986 classic “as a tango.” Morrison could only find one way to describe the upcoming number: “It’s pretty awesome.” While Morrison is certain of his work with Paltrow, there’s one upcoming musical venture he’s still a little fuzzy with the details on: his debut solo album. The Golden Globe-nominated actor confirmed that the record (which “Glee” co-star Jenna Ushkowitz has described as sounding like “a little bit of Justin Timberlake”) is slated to drop in May, but he still doesn’t have a title for it. After reluctantly sharing that one of the possible titles that could be used is My Name (“There’s a song I wrote called ‘My Name’ that’s a good one,” he told us), Morrison joked that he would name his solo effort the rather unappealing-sounding Moist. Following a hearty laugh, Morrison said of the terrible title, “That’s like the worst word I could ever think of.” What do you think Morrison should name his solo album? Let us know in the comments! Cee Lo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Muppets Light Up Grammy Stage

Lady Killer crooner teams with puppets and Oscar-winner for psychedelic performance. By Mawuse Ziegbe Cee Lo performs during the 53rd annual Grammy Awards Photo: The Recording Academy/CBS We knew that Cee Lo’s Grammy performance would be “weird and cool,” and the throwback MC delivered a dollop of campy whimsy to his stage takeover by teaming up with a slew of colorful, amped-up Muppets and inviting Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow for the ride. Fresh from a Grammy win earlier in the night for Best Urban/ Alternative Performance, the Lady Killer crooner held court on a space-age set populated with alien-like Muppets and cartoony rockets sporting “Cee Lo” on the sides. Groovy extraterrestrial puppets, including a creature with a detached brain and a drummer with unruly rods snaking from its head, bopped along in the background as Cee Lo worked a grand piano for “Forget You” in an extravagant jumpsuit replete with red, blue and yellow feathers and a glittery headpiece recalling Elton John in his psychedelic heyday. (Check out photos of Cee-Lo and all the other Grammy performances from this year’s show.) Rocking a much more subdued catsuit (also recalling the disco era with its plunging neckline), Gwyneth Paltrow ascended down the stairs for the second verse, marking the first time the pair have publicly performed Cee Lo’s smash — Paltrow revamped it on “Glee” — together. The Oscar-winning actress joined in the loopy fun, bellowing, “I really hate your hate your ass right now” at the Goodie Mob alum. Then the star swung onto the piano for the bridge and she and Cee Lo belted the whiny “Why!” cries. The Gnarls Barkley frontman stood up and Paltrow stood on the piano as the pair and their puppet friends rode out the rest of the song. MTV News got some inside information about the performance just days before Cee Lo, Paltrow and their puppet posse worked the stage. Jim Henson Company CEO Brian Henson said the set was inspired by the marionette mob’s recent theater turn. “We have a live theater show in New York called ‘Stuffed and Unstrung,’ and we’ve taken a bunch of the characters from that cast and made them into a band and backup singers for Cee Lo,” Henson said of the fuzzy puppets from the made-for-grown-ups improv show. “He’ll be backed by puppets who will make up a very weird and cool band.” Henson said the idea to sing with the puppets came from Cee Lo, who approached the Henson Company with a concept of what he wanted to do. “We had never worked with him before, and he’s just a fabulous guy,” Henson said. “I think he’s a lifelong fan of the Muppets, and he had a pretty good idea of what he wanted.” What did you think of Cee Lo’s Grammy performance? Brooklyn Decker Recalls Telling Off A Teacher On ‘When I Was 17’

Supermodel remembers heated argument over yearbook in latest episode. By Mawuse Ziegbe Brooklyn Decker on “When I Was 17” Photo: MTV Brooklyn Decker is a catwalk-strutting supermodel who can induce whiplash with her swimsuit-clad curves, but in high school the siren had more of a passion for politics than fashion. On the latest episode of “When I Was 17” — which premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on MTV — Decker recalls getting into a heated argument with her teacher over a yearbook layout that would have left her beloved student council out of the tome. “My friend Ashley and I were in this class. I was the senior class president and Ashley was student body president, and the yearbook teacher did not want to give student council a page in the yearbook,” she says, explaining, “We funded all these clubs and we support all these clubs through spirit week and so we thought we deserve a page in the yearbook.” However, their teacher, Ms. Smith, explains that since the student council was full of go-getting teens active in several clubs that would’ve gotten some shine elsewhere in the annual volume, perhaps preserving space for those other organizations would help spread the yearbook love. “We had one page left in the book,” the teacher recalls. “We were trying to decide what group would get that one last page, and I said, ‘Listen guys, the same people who are in student council are in lots of other things and so I think we should give the page to this less visible group in the school.’ ” But Decker wasn’t having it. Her friend Ashley says, “Brooke just like, lost it,” a reaction the model doesn’t deny. “We started yelling things at one another and by the end of the class Ashley took a trash can and just chucked it at a wall. And I walked out of the class and I went like this [makes a provocative gesture] and I yelled, ‘Suck it!’ to my teacher,” she says. Decker jokingly chalks up the outburst to an overload of heart-racing energy drinks. “I don’t know what came over me, I was crazy in high school,” she says. “I was like, all hopped up on Red Bull or something, I don’t know.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Kobe Bryant, Brooklyn Decker and Candice Accola — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. ET on MTV. Will Eminem Or Justin Bieber Rule The Grammys? Oddsmakers Weigh In

Ladbrokes and Bodog both like Em and Bieber’s chances on Sunday night. By James Montgomery Eminem Photo: Getty Images The 53rd annual Grammy Awards air Sunday from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and while most will be tuning in to see if Eminem can capitalize on his industry-leading 10 nominations or catch Lady Gaga performing “Born This Way” for the first time, we’ll be watching to see how all our bets panned out. See, we love gambling nearly as much as we love the Grammys (and that’s a lot ), and, with the big show just a few days away, we figured it was time to place our bets in the Big Four categories: Album, Record and Song of the Year, plus Best New Artist. And to help insure our wagering success, we’ve once again gone to two of the best oddsmakers in the universe — Ladbrokes and Bodog — to get their take on music’s biggest night. And, strangely, their picks sort of mirrored our own opinions : They both see a big night for Eminem. But unlike us , they also see Justin Bieber hoisting the hardware. And, really, who are we to disagree? After all, they’re professionals. So here, for your last-minute wagering, are Ladbrokes’ and Bodog’s odds for the 2011 Grammy Awards. Ladbrokes “The odds reflect the sensational musical year we’ve had, which makes our jobs considerably harder. When it comes to arriving at our conclusions, personal tastes do come into play, but our main job is predicting public sentiment and where we think the money will go,” Ladbrokes’ Alex Donohue said. “Some of the categories look like they have nailed-on winners — namely Eminem and Jay Z and Alicia Keys — whereas others are much closer. The quality of the short list means we can’t rule anyone out, and we’d expect one or two surprises along the way.” Album of the Year
