Dr. Dre, Bob Dylan, Mumford & Sons Join Grammys Performance Bill

Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Ryan Seacrest added to list of presenters for the big show this Sunday night. By Gil Kaufman Dr. Dre Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images There are already some pretty stellar collaborations on tap for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards this Sunday night. But on Thursday (February 10), things got way bigger with the announcement that two performers who rarely take the stage have been added to the entertainment lineup on music’s biggest night. With his one-time prot

Lil Wayne’s ‘Green And Yellow’ Is ‘Wild,’ Wiz Khalifa Says

‘Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it,’ the ‘Black and Yellow’ MC tells MTV News. By Matt Elias Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Super Bowl XLV might not have panned out quite like Pittsburgh MC Wiz Khalifa would have wanted, since his beloved Steelers get edged out by the Green Bay Packers. But still, there was an upside for Wiz — namely, hearing Lil Wayne take on his Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow” with his own remix, the aptly titled “Green and Yellow.” When MTV News caught up with Wiz on the set of his “Roll Up” music video in Venice, California, we had to ask what he thought about Weezy’s remix. “I actually thought it was real cool when he did his version,” Wiz said. “Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it. Not saying that he wouldn’t, but it was kind of wild, like, hearing Wayne flip how I rap, ’cause that’s Lil Wayne. But it was cool.” It’s a great compliment to the momentum Wiz has built in the last year. First, he was named MTV News’ 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC , then he signed to Atlantic Records and teamed up with Snoop Dogg for the official “Black and Yellow” remix , and now he’s gearing up for the release of his debut, Rolling Papers, next month. And even though the Steelers lost, Wiz was in characteristically good spirits about the whole situation. “My reaction to Sunday is just like, we’ll get ’em next time,” the mellow MC said. “We’ve been to plenty of Super Bowls. It won’t be the last one, and it was kind of a bummer just losing. But we had a great season and a lot of momentum just going into it, so I think that just had everybody boosted anyway. There was a lot of attention on Pittsburgh.” What did you think of Lil Wayne’s “Green and Yellow”? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Wiz Khalifa Lil Wayne

What was the Best Commercial of Super Bowl XLV?

Christina Aguilera flubbed, the Black Eyes Peas lit up and, somewhere along the way, Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. But in the minds of many viewers, Super Bowl XLV was all about what happened in between these events. Namely, the commercials. From Eminem returning home to a mini version of Darth Vader using his Force, car companies came up with the most creative advertisements. In our opinion, at least. What’s yours? I did’t really watch the Super Bowl. (Though I am excited that the league’s only nonprofit, community-owned team, the GreenBay Packers, won.) While Sanjay watched, I mucked around on the interwebs, where I saw my twitter stream lit up like a Christmas tree, not so much about the game, but about this Groupon ad: It Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : The Epic Change Blog Discovery Date : 07/02/2011 18:06 Number of articles : 2

Foo Fighters, Death Cab For Cutie, Wilco Lead Sasquatch! Festival Lineup

The Washington fest, held in May, will also feature Modest Mouse, Decemberists, Robyn. The Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage The lineup for the 2011 Sasquatch! Music Festival has been announced, and, in keeping with both its locale (the hilly expanses of Washington) and its mascot (a benevolently hirsute man-ape), the fest will feature some of the Pacific-Northwestiest, beard-iest bands in the land. Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse and Wilco top the bill for the tenth annual ‘Quatch, scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, May 27-30, at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. Also on the bill: Bright Eyes, the Flaming Lips (performing their ’99 stunner The Soft Bulletin ), the Decemberists, Iron & Wine, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Robyn. All in all, organizers announced more than 80 bands for the 2011 Sasquatch fest, a list that includes the recently reactivated Death From Above 1979, Cold War Kids, the recently de-activated Wolf Parade, Chromeo, Sleigh Bells, the Thermals, Flogging Molly, Best Coast, Surfer Blood, Fitz & the Tantrums, Smith Westerns, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Major Lazer. Additional acts will be announced in the coming weeks. In previous years, Sasquatch’s stages have been graced by the likes of My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, Bj

Super Bowl Movie Trailers: The Night’s Biggest Winners

Paramount offered up the most movie spots of the night, including trailers for ‘Captain America,’ ‘Super 8’ and ‘Transformers.’ By Eric Ditzian A scene from the “Captain America: The First Avenger” Super Bowl trailer Photo: Paramount So Christina Aguilera blew it with her flubbed Super Bowl national anthem and Ben Roethlisberger blew it with his faltered fourth-quarter comeback drive. But what we’re really talking about the next morning has nothing to do with Fox’s in-game Super Bowl coverage. Instead, we’re fixated on the barrage of movie trailers and Hollywood-themed ads we checked out during commercial time — extended looks at “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Super 8,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and others. While the Green Bay Packers enjoy their Super Bowl win, let’s go ahead and anoint the night’s big Hollywood winners J.J. Abrams Perhaps the night’s biggest winner was Abrams, the director of “Super 8” and — according to the none-too-subtle subtext of the new trailer — the inheritor of Steven Spielberg’s genre-bending, family-focused Hollywood blockbuster crown. Together, Spielberg and Abrams seem to be positioning the film as the successor to “E.T.” Whether that’s what “Super 8” turns about to be remains an open question. For now, what we can say is that Abrams has come a long way since “Star Trek” and “Lost” recently. He’s officially a top dog in Hollywood. “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” We need not rehash the hand-wringing over the letdown that was 2009’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” but Michael Bay’s latest ad for his third alien-robot flick, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” goes a long way toward reassuring fans that the new installment will be the best of the bunch. How bold to deliver a Super Bowl movie trailer containing not a single line of dialogue? Instead we got balletic and beautiful fight scenes, an ominous air horn-driven soundtrack and the tagline “Earth goes dark.” We can’t wait! “Captain America: The First Avenger” Fans really haven’t known what to think of this Marvel adaptation. Some peeks at Chris Evans in costume as the Captain have left observers underwhelmed, and many remain skeptical about the prospect of Joe Johnston (“The Wolfman,” “Jurassic Park III”) in the director’s chair. Yet this trailer — the first-ever look at footage from “Captain America: The First Avenger” — should help quell any alarm: There’s a cool look at Evans’ transformation from frail wannabe to badass super-soldier, some satisfying fights, and a well-executed period-drama look to the whole thing. Volkswagen We’re not sure if it made us want to go out and buy a Passat, but this ad was one of the funniest of the night. A young boy, dressed up like Darth Vader, attempts to use the Force on everything from a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to a washing machine, only to train his faux-powers on dad’s parked car. And guess what? The car starts and the boy is shocked. Turns out, Dad started the car remotely, via the Passat’s high-tech set of keys. Will parents raised on “Star Wars” rush over to the local Volkswagen dealership seeking the sense of familial togetherness apparent in the commercial? Who knows? But at least we’re talking about these cars, which is not the case with so many of the products advertised during the big game. Paramount Pictures Some studios, like Warner Bros., largely sat out the Super Bowl. No studio, however, went as all in as Paramount, which delivered looks at “Captain America,” “Super 8,” “Thor,” “Transformers” and “Rango.” The studio’s ads were among the most talked-about of the night and trended highly on Twitter and Google. Sometimes, it pays to go big. Related Videos Kick Off With Super Bowl XLV Movie Commercials

Christina Aguilera Apologizes For Super Bowl National Anthem Flub

‘I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country,’ singer says in a statement. By Gil Kaufman Christina Aguilera performs at the Super Bowl on Sunday Photo: Christopher Polk/ Getty Images It’s notoriously one of the hardest songs to sing, and knowing that you’re performing it for the biggest TV audience of the year can’t help when it comes to nerves. Sometimes, just to be sure, singers pre-record the national anthem in case something goes wrong during the run-up to the kickoff of the Super Bowl. Well, that something happened on Sunday night when Christina Aguilera blew a few lines of the anthem on the football telecast. Less than a minute into her rendition, Aguilera ran into some trouble. Instead of singing “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming” she improvised “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last reaming.” Ever the pro, Aguilera didn’t stumble and continued on, belting out the correct lyrics all the way through her 11-second-long note at the end of the song. Eyewitnesses in Dallas told Popeater that the crowd at the game had a pretty dramatic reaction to the missed lines. “This was the biggest performance of her career and she blew it,” an unnamed source with a VIP view said. “To mess up the lyrics was a disaster.” Another described a kind of “hush” falling over the stadium as everyone looked at each other in disbelief. Aguilera was described as being “devastated” when she went backstage after her performance. A short time later, the mistake began to pick up steam on Twitter and before the game was over, the singer’s Wikipedia page was updated to include details of her prime-time error. By Monday morning (February 7), in addition to copious headlines about the Green Bay Packers’ historic win, clips of Aguilera’s flub were all over the Internet. The Grammy-winning singer released a statement soon after, saying, “I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through.” The lyrical fumble was unusual from Aguilera, 30, who has frequently done the national anthem honors at NBA games, including at last year’s finals. “I have been performing the anthem since I was 7 years old and I must say the Super Bowl is a dream come true,” Aguilera said before the game. “I am really excited to be part of such an iconic event.” Related Photos Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Slash Perform During Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show Christina Aguilera Sings The National Anthem At Super Bowl XLV Related Artists Christina Aguilera

Super Bowl Commercials 2011: Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Snickers Ads

Kim Kardashian makes Skechers sexy, Justin Bieber and Ozzy Osbourne go futuristic and Snickers teams up with Roseanne and Richard Lewis. Super Bowl XLV (2011) is right around the corner (kickoff time is 6:30|5:30c on Sunday) and while we await the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Green Bay Packers we also prepare for the dozens of new Super Bowl commercials. Kim Kardashian is releasing a sexy ad for Skechers which I hear is a little risqué. Justin Bieber has teamed up with Ozzy Osbourne in a rather weird commercial for Best Buy. Snickers, who featured Betty White last year, have enlisted the help of Roseanne Barr and Richard Lewis for this year’s advertisement. Let’s not forget the Volkswagen Darth Vader ad that leaked yesterday. I can’t deny that I tune into to the Super Bowl each year to watch the commercials. Granted I do enjoy the game and this year’s matchup should be pretty damn good. While Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, big companies spend millions on ads in hopes they will generate more revenue. Each year we can expect all new commercials which tend to make us laugh. This year Kim Kardashian will be adding sexy into the equation when she debuts a Skechers Super Bowl spot. Snickers hopes to follow-up last year’s Betty White ad with a Roseanne Barr construction worker commercial. Of course millions of Tweens will be tuning in to watch Justin Bieber team up with Ozzy Osbourne in what will probably be the most bizarre ad this year. Super Bowl XLV will be hosted in Dallas, Texas and is set for a 6:30|5:30c Kick Off time on FOX.
