David Guetta Brings F.M.I.F. Party To Miami Music Week

Guetta and his wife, Cathy, present their ‘F— Me I’m Famous’ brand in the U.S. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta Photo: MTV News MIAMI — French beatsmith David Guetta and his wife Cathy plan to launch their clubber power-party brand in the U.S. in a big way. Called “F— Me I’m Famous,” it’s named after the electronic dance music party that takes place every year as part of the summer EDM circuit in Ibiza, Spain. On Saturday (March 26) at Club Mansion in Miami, Cathy and David delivered a brand debut of sorts for attendees of Miami Music Week . The Guettas and record label EMI have signed a global partnership to promote F.M.I.F. events around the world, and they’re banking on seeing it blossom here in the States. With frequent collaborator and friend will.i.am and Dutch house-music producer Sidney Sampson by his side, David Guetta took to the decks just after 1 a.m. Saturday and charged into a vicious Afrojack tune, followed by his hit single “One Love” and “Gettin’ Over You,” the chorus of which fans in the house knew by heart. As Guetta dropped out the sound, the audience belted out Fergie’s vocals without missing a beat. After spinning hit singles “Sexy Chick” and Flo Rida’s “Club Can’t Handle Me,” Guetta dropped in his fiery mix of Far East Movement’s “Like a G6,” a joint the DJ/producer has no plans to release but which he’s shared with lil’ brother Afrojack for their touring gigs. The Black Eyed Peas “Boom Boom Pow” followed. Notably, will.i.am joined DG onstage to repeatedly lend the vocal “Everybody!” and a set of freestyle bars on what’s possibly a new song, a banger with a progressive break that peaks into a driving house tune after LMFAO vocals announce, “I’m David Guetta, bitch!” So club fans, rejoice: More F— Me I’m Famous parties are right around the corner. When we caught up with Guetta on Friday afternoon, he was pleased to announce the brand has found a home in Las Vegas. “I’m super-excited about this, the F— Me I’m Famous party,” Guetta said. “I’m taking over Vegas. This is gonna be crazy. We are starting a pool party at Wet Republic, and that’s gonna be every Sunday. “It’s the first time we are gonna do a residency like this, except in Ibiza. We’re gonna do also three really big concerts at the Joint [at the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino]. We have one for Memorial Day. That’s gonna be a big thing. We’re gonna come with the whole production from Europe. So this is probably an important moment for our brand, F— Me I’m Famous, starting to find a life and a home in America. The F— Me I’m Famous party at Wet Republic in Las Vegas will open April 10 and run Sundays through May 1, according to Wet Republic Las Vegas’ website . David Guetta Teases Nicki Minaj’s ‘New Persona’ On ‘Where Dem Girls At?’

Flo Rida is also featured on the single, which Guetta told MTV News about at Miami Music Week. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta Photo: MTV News MIAMI — America dances to a clubbier tune nowadays, due in large part to the diligence of four kings of current U.S. pop/urban radio: Dr. Luke, Max Martin, RedOne and David Guetta. And MTV News has a news flash about one of those kings: Grammy-winning French producer David Guetta has almost completed a new album and has a new single hitting the airwaves most likely in the beginning of May. The yet-untitled follow-up to One Love is a disc made with both pop radio and big arenas in mind. Akon and will.i.am are featured on the upcoming project, as are a few new partners in crime. Currently, Guetta has a dilemma, MTV News learned when we caught up with him Friday (March 25) as the DJ/producer performed during Miami Music Week. The Frenchman is going back and forth between two big bangers for a first single, a high-class problem most in the music world would welcome. “I have two really, really big ones,” Guetta told MTVN News. “One is with Taio Cruz and Ludacris [a song called ‘Little Bad Girl’ that has already leaked] and the other [‘Where Dem Girls At?’] is with Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj. They are both huge records, but one sounds more European. The other one sounds a bit more U.S.” Guetta joked, “So people are fighting inside the record company: It’s the U.S. against Europe. So we are gonna see who has more muscle!” Minaj’s millions of Barbz around the world would surely cast their vote for “Where Dem Girls At?” and Guetta is particularly pleased that he could bring her onboard for the song. “We just had a big success with ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ together with Flo Rida, and he gave me back the favor by featuring on my album,” Guetta said. “That record is absolutely huge. Like it was a monster already. And then, I wanted to add a little twist, because we just had a record together, and I’m a huge Nicki Minaj fan. “And we met. I was gonna play records, but she said, ‘You know, you should know that I wanna do a solo record. I don’t want to be with somebody else,’ ” Guetta continued. “So I said, ‘OK, no problem. Can I just play you that record?’ And that record is so big that it’s undeniable. And she was like, ‘OK, I’ll do that last one.’ And it’s a major record!” But which Nicki Minaj will appear on “Where Dem Girls At?” Will it be Roman, Martha or one of her other now-famous personas? According to Guetta, maybe someone new. “I think she kind of has a new persona for that record,” Guetta shared. ” She’s more London now.” Which single do you think David Guetta should roll with first? David Guetta ‘Had A Blast’ Filming With Web Sensation Keenan Cahill

Dance-music superstar makes the trip to 15-year-old’s Chicago home to shoot latest lip-synching video. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta Photo: MTV News When will David Guetta begin recording with U2 ? We can’t confirm just yet, but on Tuesday (January 25), the French hitmaker added yet another name to an already stellar list of collaborators. Only this time, he’s not pairing up with Akon, Black Eyed Peas or Madonna, but Internet sensation Keenan Cahill . In just over a year, the Chicago 15-year-old has become a Web phenomenon by filming himself lip-synching pop songs from his bedroom. Ke$ha, Usher, Willow Smith, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Pink are just a few artists who have gotten the Cahill treatment; his deliveries of “Like a G6,” “Only Girl (In the World)” and “DJ Got Us Fallin’ in Love” have more than 7 million views. Thus far, his version of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” is the most popular, with more than 27 million views. Late last year, Cahill appeared on “Chelsea Lately,” where the bespectacled teen gave host Chelsea Handler his digits and premiered his clip of 50 Cent and Jeremih’s “Down on Me,” in which Fif appears. He also appeared on MTV’s New Year’s Eve special donning 2011 shades in a vid set to Pink’s “Raise Your Glass.” Cahill premiered his latest achievement, featuring David Guetta, on Tuesday, set to a medley of Guetta’s hit songs (“Sexy Chick,” “Memories,” “When Love Takes Over,” “Gettin’ Over You” and his BEP classic “I Gotta Feeling”). When MTV News caught up with Guetta last week, he had just returned from Chicago after filming the clip with Cahill in his bedroom, and he was still beaming from the experience. “I had a blast,” Guetta said. “I went to Chicago, and we just shot that video. It’s really cool. It’s really funny, and he’s a really clever kid. Keenan is really a YouTube phenomenon. It’s unbelievable. He’s only 15, and he really knows what he’s doing. His expressions are really funny and interesting.” Guetta described a bit about what happens in the clip. “I was behind him. Sometimes I was there, sometimes I wasn’t. It was about him, really. I think that’s better like that,” he said. “I just wanted to show support, and I thought it was a cool thing. I’m sure people are going to love this.” And if Cahill weren’t big enough already, Guetta certainly knows a place where he is set to become a whole lot more famous. “I’m sure people are going to love this. Probably, he’s going to become really big now in France,” Guetta laughed.

Flo Rida ‘Looks Forward’ To David Guetta Bringing Home A VMA

Guetta is up against Lady Gaga, Usher and others for Best Dance Music Video at the 2010 Video Music Awards. By Akshay Bhansali David Guetta Photo: Raymond Boyd/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images As if working with the Black Eyed Peas, Akon and Rihanna weren’t enough of a signal of international dance music’s crossover star David Guetta ‘s two-year ascension to the top of the American urban pop-music scene, the French house-music producer is up for a Moonman at this year’s Video Music Awards . Nominated for Best Dance Music Video for his hit single “Sexy Chick,” featuring Akon, Guetta is up against some stiff competition for his big night in L.A. on September 12. His fellow nominees include Usher for “OMG,” German dance group Cascada (remember “Everytime We Touch”?) for “Evacuate the Dancefloor” and Enrique Iglesias’ “I Like It,” featuring Snooki, the Situation and company. And let’s not forget the biggest of elephants in the room, Lady Gaga for “Bad Romance.” Still, DGuetta’s boy, rapper Flo Rida, with whom he currently has a top 10 hit in Europe with “Club Can’t Handle Me,” thinks his chances of winning are rather good. “My reaction to David Guetta being nominated for ‘Best Dance Video’? Well, he’s definitely a household name,” Flo told MTV UK today in London. “Not just nationally, but he’s internationally known. He’s a passionate dude about his music and he gets the party crunk. I look forward to him taking that home.” “The genius of him is the fact that he is a perfectionist. He strives to make sure that a record has the right gumbo,” Flo said using the analogy of the Southern dish of random ingredients that somehow just tastes right. “It moves you — having you bob your head. If you are a dancer, it will make you try some new moves. David Guetta has that work ethic and that drive to make sure he has the #1 party record, like we do right now with ‘Club Can’t Handle Me.’ ” And while fans will have to wait till the big night to find out if Guetta proves the victor, Flo Rida has a special message for all you David Guetta fans out there. “To David Guetta and his fans, y’all make sure and support him,” Flo said. “David, you know you work hard. You grind. Win or lose, I feel like you are still the winner because you have fans that are very loyal to you. So do your thing. Keep your head up.” The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from Tuesday (August 3) through September 12. Flo Rida, David Guetta Talk ‘Big’ Single ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’

The French super-producer ‘has been a guy who I look up to,’ Flo tells MTV News of recruiting Guetta. By Akshay Bhansali Flo Rida Photo: MTV News Since recording the internationally successful hip-hop/dance single “Right Round,” Flo Rida seems to have found the sound he’d like to follow on his next go-round. The rapper can now be included in an ever-expanding list of superstars turning to dance-music super-producer David Guetta in search of a song to set the club on fire. We recently caught up with the new partners in crime on the Los Angeles video set for their collaboration, “Club Can’t Handle Me.” The song not only appears on the MC’s upcoming album, The Only One, but it’s also slated to be the lead single for Disney’s “Step Up” threequel, “Step Up 3-D.” And working with Guetta means Flo’s not in bad company: Rihanna , Akon , Kelly Rowland and the Black Eyed Peas are but a few of the folks who’ve partnered with Guetta during the French DJ’s two-year ascension on the U.S. pop-music scene. With each song, Guetta’s knack for getting folks to jump to their feet seems to grow stronger. “David Guetta has been a guy who I look up to,” Flo told MTV News. “He’s definitely been big around the world and has always been there to let me know that my music is hot, and vice versa. So I definitely appreciate doing this big record with him.” “I was always playing a bootleg with ‘Love Is Gone’ [Guetta’s original collabo with Kelly Rowland] and ‘Low,’ from him,” Guetta recalled. “One day, his record company called me and asked me if I would produce records for him. I was like, ‘Yeah! Of course! Because I knew it was working in every club I was playing already.” The video’s backdrop is exactly what one might imagine from the title: an opulent, extravagant club party befitting a rap boss and world-renowned club DJ. “This video right here is just, if you’ve ever dreamed about having the biggest party of your life, ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ definitely represents that,” Flo said. “Lotta energy. Lot of diamonds, ice sculptures. Just showing that boss vibe. So I mean really, the club can’t handle me.” But it was Guetta who probably summed it up best saying, “We are definitely both club people — it’s like our office!” he laughed. Flo Rida’s forthcoming The Only One features production by Dr. Luke (“Right Round”) and guest verses from Jay Rock and Lil Wayne. David Guetta, Fergie, LMFAO Party In ‘Gettin’ Over You’ Video

A tweet from the French superstar DJ/producer brings Jabbawockeez and other revelers to studio, in new clip. By Akshay Bhansali Photo: MTV News Dance music superstar David Guetta was beaming when we caught up with him this weekend at KIIS-FM’s Wango Tango festival in Los Angeles. The concert event marked the French DJ/producer’s inclusion in what has now become an annual West Coast tradition showcasing the best of the best in popular music. This year’s roster boasted the likes of Adam Lambert, Ke$ha, Ludacris, Akon, Usher and Justin Bieber. “I live in Paris, so I have no idea. I arrived and didn’t even know what the Staple[s] Center was,” Guetta said. “Then I arrived to the rehearsal and I was like, ‘Wow! This is big!’ I saw all the artists that were performing and it’s amazing. I’m really happy and honored to be part of that.” Guetta has collaborated with Akon and Kelly Rowland, on “Sexy Chick” and, “When Love Takes Over,” respectively, and they, along with singer Chris Willis, joined Guetta onstage for a rocking show on Saturday. Now, he’s followed that with the premiere of his latest video on Tuesday (May 18) morning. The clip for “Gettin’ Over You,” features Fergie , party-rockers LMFAO and Chris Willis, who all guest on the track. In an interview with MTV News last month, Guetta set up the concept for the visual. “The video is the story of what happened to me when I came to produce ‘I Gotta Feeling’ for the Black Eyed Peas,” Guetta explained. “So, the inspiration for my video is we’re in recording sessions — me, Fergie, LMFAO, Chris Willis — and then more and more people are partying in the studio. We party in the streets. Partying in the area … partying in the city.” Indeed, “Getting’ Over You” is just as he described. The clip opens in a recording studio with Guetta behind the boards as he declares, “So guys, if you’re ready, we’re gonna do it one in one take. Let’s go.” Fergie (sporting a pouf and dramatically lined eyes) and Willis launch into the verses, as Guetta is seen tweeting that he’s in the studio. Just after LMFAO’s Sky Blu and Redfoo step up to their mics, a passerby hears the music from outside and sneaks into the session. The newcomer rounds up some friends, who carry speakers into the streets and patch into the soundboard, and lo and behold, the neighbors hear the music and flock to the studio. Soon a large crowd makes its way to Guetta’s recording session-turned-party, which spills into a nearby alley way, where everyone dances it out to the rest of the song. Somehow, America’s Best Dance Crew alums the Jabbawockeez find their way to the bash — and take things to the next level. Guetta may well have delivered another summer pop-dance music hit, in the vein of “I Gotta Feeling,” a song he co-produced for the Peas and that went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks last year. “I think ‘Getting’ Over You’ has that power of ‘I Gotta Feeling,’ Guetta said. “It’s actually kind of the same vibe. I’m really confident in this record. What did you think of Fergie’s look in the “Gettin’ Over You” video? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Fergie Lmfao

Fergie Is ‘Perfect’ in ‘Gettin’ Over You’ Video, David Guetta Says

‘This is going to be my best video ever’, DJ/producer tells MTV News of new collabo, also featuring Will.I.Am and LMFAO. By Akshay Bhansali, with reporting by Damian Vaca David Guetta Photo: MTV News The French house-music DJ/producer who produced last summer’s Black Eyed Peas hit “I Gotta Feeling” is planning a repeat chart assault. David Guetta just shot the video for his “Gettin’ Over You,” a song he’s convinced will be the summer anthem of 2010. “I have no words. This is going to be my best video, I’m sure,” Guetta told MTV News when we caught up with him at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, fresh off the video shoot. The seemingly endless obsession with “I Gotta Feeling” hasn’t gone unnoticed by Guetta, who may be following a formula for success by reuniting with some of the song’s key players. (The massive hit from the Peas’ album The E.N.D. spent 14 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 last year and remains a club staple.) “Gettin’ Over You” features Will.I.Am, Fergie and LMFAO. It’s only fitting, then, that the new clip includes a nod to the first collaboration that helped make Guetta a crossover star. “The video is the story of what happened to me when I came to produce ‘I Gotta Feeling’ for the Black Eyed Peas,” Guetta said. “It was my first time in that studio called Record Plant. I was so impressed, and we started to work with Will.I.Am and more and more artists were coming to say, ‘Hello,’ and were like, ‘Oh, this music is different.’ And they were staying. Girls were starting to dance on the couch. “So the inspiration for my video is really that. We’re in recording sessions — me, Fergie, LMFAO, [singer] Chris Willis — and then more and more people are partying in the studio. We party in the streets. Partying in the area … partying in the city.” Oddly enough, Guetta’s energetic onstage demeanor is in direct contrast to his comfort level with the acting required for a music video. “I’m so bad. I can only be myself,” he laughed. “I’m such a bad actor, it’s terrible. If you tell me, ‘Do what you usually do,’ it’s kind of OK. So I’m producing that record, that’s what I’m doing in the video.” But the dance-music phenom could only rave about Fergie’s performance. “I look stupid, you know, totally suck,” Guetta said. “Her, it’s the opposite. They say ‘rolling,’ and she knows exactly what she’s doing, like, the angle, the look, the light. I asked her after we shot, ‘Did you have a monitor? Could you see yourself?’ Because it was so perfect.” What do you think of David collaborating with the Peas again? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists David Guetta Fergie

Brittany Murphy Foundation Does Not Actually Exist

There’s just one problem with the Brittany Murphy Foundation, the just-launched charity Simon Monjack started to honor his late wife: It’s not an actual charity. The Brittany Murphy Foundation is a foundation in name alone, according to a TMZ report, as state and federal records indicate that it simply does not exist. Monjack and Brittany’s mom Sharon launched foundation (the website of which is conveniently down for maintenance) and began soliciting funds last month. Touted as a charity dedicated to arts education for children, the Brittany Murphy Foundation is not registered as a charity with the IRS or State of California. So basically, it’s the Simon Monjack Slush Fund Foundation. The late Brittany Murphy’s husband is a bad seed . The California Secretary of State’s office has no records of the organization as a nonprofit. The IRS says the foundation has not filed for a non-profit license. Per U.S. law, any foundation soliciting money has to disclose the fact that it is not registered as a nonprofit. You know, so it doesn’t try to cheat on its taxes. What do you expect from a dude with the nickname Conjack? The foundation had no such disclosure or any record of existing as of Friday. Its site was conveniently ” down for maintenance ” an hour after the story broke. Larkin Rivero Management, where donations were directed to be mailed, had no comment. Monjack called off the first big fundraiser at the last minute. Shady, shady individual. That’s all we have to say.
