‘One For The Money’ ‘Not Just A Chick Flick,’ Stars Say

‘There’s explosions and there’s shooting! You’re gonna like it too,’ Katherine Heigl tells MTV News, selling her new movie to men. By Christina Garibaldi Katherine Heigl and Daniel Sunjata in “One For the Money” Photo: Lionsgate NEW YORK — Since parting ways with “Grey’s Anatomy,” Katherine Heigl has established herself as a queen of romantic comedies, starring in several “chick flicks” such as “27 Dresses,” “Life as We Know It” and “New Year’s Eve.” In her latest movie, “One for the Money,” based on the best-selling Janet Evanovich novel, Heigl takes on the role of Stephanie Plum, a tough Jersey girl who becomes a recovery agent sent to track down a murder suspect — who just so happens to be her ex-boyfriend. If it sounds like the perfect recipe for a ladies’ night out, not so fast. At the movie’s New York premiere, Heigl promised that “One for the Money” will keep women and men on the edge of their seats. “I wouldn’t qualify it as a romantic comedy. It’s got [romance] and it’s got comedy, but it’s mostly about this sort of murder-mystery undertone that keeps it moving and keeps the pace going,” Heigl told MTV News. “I always feel like I’m selling it to men, like, ‘There’s explosions and there’s shooting! You’re gonna like it too, I promise!’ ” Lending her comedic chops to the flick, “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd agreed with Heigl’s assessment: “It’s a lot of action and it’s a lot of fun. It’s something that I think my husband, who is 6-6, 280 pounds, would love. So no, it’s not just a chick flick; it’s a fun film.” Now, if the ladies of the film haven’t convinced non-female moviegoers, they may want to take some advice from their male co-stars. “There’s action sequences,” Daniel Sunjata said. “There’s definitely a healthy enough dose of testosterone and really good storytelling that I think the guys will have a great time at this movie too.” Heigl’s love interest in the film, Jason O’Mara, added, “I think if the guys come and see it, there’s gonna be lots in it for them. This is not a frilly romantic comedy. With all due respect to Katie’s past work, this is not ’27 Dresses.’ There’s something kind of edgy, something kinda blue-collar about this that gives it a bit of a realism, and I think it’s cool. Whether you’re male or female, I think you’re gonna have a good time.” Check out everything we’ve got on “One for the Money.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

The Wanted Get ‘Massive Buzz’ From American Fans

British boy band talks to MTV News about ‘amazing’ U.S. tour. By Jocelyn Vena The Wanted Photo: MTV News As British boy band the Wanted embark on a U.S. tour, the five guys are eating up all the love they’ve been receiving Stateside. In fact, they kind of can’t get enough of all the American fans they have met since kicking off their tour last week. “Unbelievable, like we never expected it,” Max George told MTV News about the shows, which have included sold-out dates. “The States is one territory in the world we always wanted to crack, and that’s like the ultimate. It’s been amazing.” The Wanted — made up of George, Tom Parker, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes — formed in 2009 and quickly became popular enough in the U.K. to snag touring dates with Justin Bieber . Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, has since taken them under his managerial wing, accelerating their rise to American popularity. In fact, they even opened for Britney Spears for a date on her Femme Fatale Tour. They are currently out promoting their single “Glad You Came.” Parker said he’s overwhelmed by the response the guys have been getting city after city since coming over, which includes a performance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “It’s all been really quick, actually, and we’ve only been over here for a week and we’ve seen it grow massively in just a week,” he said of the group’s popularity. “Well that’s the power of the Internet; social networking crosses over into so many different territories that for us it’s been crucial.” Kaneswaran added that the guys have also been connecting to audiences and fans thanks to “the power of music, music defines an act.” As the guys continue to weave spells over American audiences, they weighed in on what makes U.S. fans different from the ones back home. “The American fans are so optimistic, very intense,” George said. “They’re just really enthusiastic. I get a massive buzz off American people. I think it’s really refreshing.” With several weeks left on their trek around America, McGuiness teased future audiences of what they should expect at one of their shows. “I think just don’t go expecting the perfect, polished, most beautiful set of things ever,” he said. “Basically it’s five guys and this absolutely rocking band. Our band is badass and we sing our heads off and it gets sweaty.” The guys are here promoting their album Battleground. Their U.S. tour will wrap up on February 8 in Los Angeles before they kick off an arena tour on February 15 in their native England. “We were always hopeful it would go as good as it started off to be,” McGuiness added. “But you never know how a new territory is going to react. I feel like there is an element of luck involved.” Are you planning on seeing the Wanted live? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists The Wanted

Pete Rock On Heavy D: “I Feel Like He’s Gonna Call Me Any Second”

Here is the original post:

Veteran Hip-Hop producer Pete Rock recently spoke to BET.com about the loss of his cousin Heavy D , who was instrumental in launching his career. “Heavy was our world,” said Pete, 41. “The craziest, funniest guy to be around.” Here is an excerpt of his memories of Heavy D : Hev lost two brothers and Troy [Heavy’s friend and backup dancer], so we’re familiar with the pain. This news felt like a 12 gauge shot to the heart. It’s hard to grasp, I feel like he’s gonna call me any second. We spoke to each other every other day. I just spent the weekend at his house and we did a song together. He didn’t want me to leave, kept trying to keep me at his house, thinking of things for me to do. I was laughing ’cause I was like, ‘Hev, I got to go home and get back to work [laughs]!’ I now realize that God allowed us to have that time together for a reason. He wanted to put me with him one last time. We had so much fun, ate Chinese food, really ate like crazy in the studio [laughs]. I thank God for Hev believing in me. The last words I heard him say was how proud he was of me. READ THE FULL STORY AT BET.COM Watch Heavy D’s classic “Don’t Curse” produced by his cousin Pete Rock. Being a celebrity sure isn’t easy, just ask Lil Wayne . The Young Money leader had to evict two male fans who were trying to get a glimpse of their favorite rapper while he was relaxing at his Miami crib. The two wannabe stalkers took a spin through Weezy’s upscale neighborhood after spotting a female guest enter the house. After waiting for a few minutes, the guys decided to pull up to his crib to what we’re guessing was to hopefully get a photo with Weezy. Why did they think this was even possible? One of the guys spots Wayne and yells, “Weezy … Can we get a quick picture bro?” Weezy’s response: “Yo, do me a favor, get the f— out this neighborhood, or get your head knocked the f— off, do that. Get the f— out this neighborhood homie.” Why would you even think this would be a good look? Watch how this plays out below: Would you ring your favorite celeb’s bell if you knew where they lived? Breathe Carolina Call Hell Is What You Make It ‘Eclectic’

MTV Push Artist of the Week’s July album is gaining steam on radio. By Jocelyn Vena Breathe Carolina Photo: MTV News The two guys of Colorado electronic-rock outfit Breathe Carolina have this message for their fans: Hell Is What You Make It. Their album of that name, which dropped back in July, has started to pick up steam with music lovers, and the guys hope fans — both new and old — really immerse themselves in the LP. “It’s amazing, honestly. I think getting the opportunity, that’s the best part. To be able to say, ‘Here.’ I hope people get to dive into the record a little bit and really see who we are,” Kyle Even told MTV News when they stopped by the newsroom a few weeks back. “[The single] ‘Blackout’ is one song that we created. We’re very eclectic, and we definitely do whatever we want. I think you’ll find that out as you go through our catalog of songs and see who we are and where we came from.” The guys approached the album in a whole new way, helping shape the sound for the aggressive release. “This album was different with the writing process, because we wrote it with our whole band that we play live with,” David Schmitt said. “That was awesome, having their minds in the writing process. The first two records, it was just me and Kyle. We found a producer in [Ian] Kirkpatrick, and it didn’t seem like we were working. He made it huge for us.” The buzz should continue to grow for the pair: They are MTV’s Push Artist of the Week , and starting next month, they’ll hit the road, playing small clubs all over the country. “It’s cool just reaching a new audience now too with the radio stuff,” Schmitt said. “I feel like it’s brought Breathe Carolina to other ears that may not have heard it.” Listening to the album, it’s clear the guys have one mission, which Even explained to us: “Making people move — that’s our favorite part about writing that kind of music,” Even said. “We get to get out there and move some people, like, literally sometimes we’ll get in the crowd. We’ll get rowdy.” Have you checked out Breathe Carolina? Share your thoughts in the comments! Related Artists Breathe Carolina

Duck Sauce ‘Totally Into’ NSFW Idea For ‘Big Bad Wolf’

‘We shot the whole video with Armand and A-Trak basically with their heads between the legs of these actors,’ Keith Schofield tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Duck Sauce’s “Big Bad Wolf” music video Photo: Fool’s Gold Records It is definitely the greatest crotch-centric video to have made its way into your inbox over the past 24 hours (at least we hope): Duck Sauce ‘s slightly NSFW/ definitely NSFL “Big Bad Wolf” clip, which stars the dynamic DJing duo as, well, a pair of d—heads. An oddly compelling mixture of gross-out humor and bawdy, barroom imagery, it features the Sauce’s A-Trak and Armand Van Helden attached to the nether regions of a pair of rather hirsute gentlemen out for a night on the town. It is very much the opposite of their blissed-out “Barbra Streisand” clip , which is fitting, given that it comes from the mind of director Keith Schofield, who is no stranger to making thoroughly, uh, out-there fare. But, as he told MTV News on Tuesday (October 24), one day after “Wolf” spread like wildfire across the Web, even he was sort of amazed that this one got off the ground. “I pitched Armand and A-Trak three ideas for it, and the crotch faces was the first idea I came up with. I thought it was pretty good but might be too out-there, but that was the one they went for from the get-go,” Schofield explained. “When I first heard the song, the visual image that popped in my head was guys walking around the city with, like, massive c—s just kind of swinging around. And then I was like, trying to figure out how to turn that into something interesting that could go on TV, and that’s where the head thing kind of popped up.” And though the simple fact Duck Sauce said “yes” to his idea was impressive, what really blew Schofield away was the duo’s commitment once they arrived on set. Because, despite what you might think, “Big Bad Wolf” wasn’t made by digitally adding Van Helden and A-Trak’s heads to their respective actor’s crotches in post production. It was actually, amazingly, the opposite. “We shot the whole video with Armand and A-Trak basically with their heads between the legs of these actors, and they were wearing these kind of green-screen bodysuits, so in post, we just removed their bodies,” Schofield laughed. “Yeah, I don’t even know if that’s supposed to be out there, but that’s why I couldn’t believe they wanted to be the guys in the video! I mean, a couple days before we were about to shoot, I was telling them, ‘You know, we can cast other guys for the roles.’ I was trying to discourage them, like, ‘It’s not going to be fun. It’s going to be two full days of you sitting on your knees, having a guy straddle you.’ “But they were totally into it. I think we all were,” he continued. “I mean, every single point, it was like, ‘Let’s go as far as possible.’ Because we were like, ‘We’re not going to make another crotch-face video, so we kind of have to do every idea we can think of.’ ” Initial reaction to the “Wolf” video has been about what you’d expect: a mixture of shock, awe and absolute horror. Schofield has loved every minute of it, though, to be honest, he’s sort of afraid of what his parents will have to say about the clip. “My sister liked it. I haven’t actually talked to my parents about it. They asked me about it, like, ‘Oh, so what’s the video about?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, it’s about these guys, it’s sort of hard to explain,’ ” he said. “Obviously, it’s really easy to explain, but I guess I’ll just wait to see them and see if they bring it up.” Have you seen the Duck Sauce video?
