Michelle Williams Will Watch Brokeback Mountain with Daughter Matilda

Don’t shoot the messenger; this is what qualifies as news in the lazy hours before New Year’s Eve. In an interview with Angeleno magazine, Blue Valentine star Michelle Williams says she plans on one day watching Brokeback Mountain with daughter Matilda. “I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda’s father, and that is a lot,” she said, referring to the late Heath Ledger. “It was a lot. And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she’s ready. It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together.” Wonder what the Steak Eaters will think of that one. [ PopSugar ]

Keri Hilson Says ‘The Way You Love Me Video’ Is ‘Not Just Sexual’

Keri Hilson Says ‘The Way You Love Me Video’ Is ‘Not Just Sexual’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Keri Hilson Photo: MTV News Keri Hilson gets sexy in her new video for “The Way You Love Me.” In the clip, Hilson plays B.B., a gun-slinging woman who sets out to bring her man into custody. The video also stars JoJo, Faith Evans and Diddy-Dirty-Money’s Dawn Richard as her band of “bad bitches.” The video’s sex factor climbs quickly, as Hilson sheds more and more clothes, writhing around while singing all about her loving her man. But when MTV News spoke to Hilson this week, she shrugged off any controversy but admitted she was a little bit surprised by the reaction she’s been getting. “In that record I’m talking about one guy, I’m talking about one night and this is what I want on this one night, and I’m not afraid to say it,” she explained. “Not just sexual, I just mean whatever — open your mouth. That’s empowering to me. That’s what the song is about.” For his part, Rick Ross , who’s featured on the track, chills in the club, while beautiful people drink and dance the night away. But it’s Hilson’s scantily clad popping and locking that has everyone buzzing. “The Way You Love Me” is off Hilson’s latest release, No Boys Allowed, and she clarified the meaning behind the title, saying that while the boys aren’t welcome to her party, real men are. “Yeah, men [are allowed],” Hilson said. “That’s the point of the album. I feel like I give so much of the female perspective, and I really wanted to give guys a chance to sound off and give their perspective on certain things, so I had to bring in the men.” What do you think of Keri’s “The Way You Love Me Video”? Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart And 2010’s Other Best Couples

50 Cent and Chelsea Handler and Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal also made us swoon this year. By Jocelyn Vena Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Photo: Getty Images Love bloomed in 2010. While some of the year’s celebrity hookups made sense, we have to admit that at least one of MTV News’ favorite couples of the year kind of had us scratching our heads, even if they do look adorable together. What was the trend for 2010 when it comes to love in the world of entertainment? Musicians love comedians! Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson They may refuse to talk about it, but 2010 seemed to confirm long-simmering suspicions that RPattz and KStew had taken their onscreen love affair offscreen, thanks to a number of high-profile sightings over the course of the year. Who could forget when they kissed at the MTV Movie Awards in June and then spent the summer shooting separate flicks, still finding time to hang out together? Pattinson visited Stewart on the set of “On the Road,” and the pair flew the friendly skies together. They grabbed a meal together in L.A., which seems to be a very coupley thing to do. The two were also spotted kissing on the beach for a “Breaking Dawn” honeymoon scene. Katy Perry and Russell Brand Katy and Russell not only made our list of the best weddings of 2010, but their adorableness also landed them on the Best Couples of 2010 list. They kicked off the new year with their engagement and then quickly became a red carpet staple, hitting up the Grammy parties , goofing around about their relationship, with Perry calling Brand a “bridezilla,” and then hyping up each other’s projects, with Brand giving props to Perry’s “California Gurls.” The duo talked each other up throughout much of the year, culminating in their October wedding . And what better way to celebrate their love than with Perry taking Brand’s last name ? 50 Cent and Chelsea Handler It all began in October after Handler, who hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in September, and the rapper were spotted hanging out in New Orleans, listening to jazz and getting cozy. Handler quickly denied there was a romance brewing. Shortly after denying there was anything going on, Handler took to her Twitter to once again deny the fling after one of the panelists on her “Chelsea Lately” show referenced their supposed hookup. Fifty also denied a romance , saying the pair were discussing a potential film project. Weeks later, the couple were spotted just chillin’ in Malibu . She later stuck to her guns about their relationship, saying they were just talking business . Oh yeah, she also tweeted a photo of them snuggling in bed together. Hey, even if they are just friends, we kind of love them as a couple. Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal It all started in late October when Taylor was spotted hanging out with Jake in New York City. She brushed off romance rumors during a chat with Ellen DeGeneres , and even Jake-associate Anne Hathaway seemed to want to squelch the rumors. But the pair were subsequently spotted all over the globe getting lattes and sharing embraces together. And this month, actress Gwyneth Paltrow admitted she hosted a dinner for the pair in November. Let’s hope they can keep it strong in 2011 (or at least hope for an awesome breakup ballad from Taylor). Sammi and Ronnie They fell in love during season one of “Jersey Shore,” but then broke up on the season’s reunion special. So, when they landed in Miami and Ronnie was caught hitting on girls in South Beach, who would have thought they’d end up together again? Not Snooki and JWoww , who tried to his expose his lothario ways. But the heart wants what the heart wants and, well, it seems that the two couldn’t resist each other and they eventually got back together . With a new season of “Jersey Shore” set to kick off on January 6, let’s hope Sammi and Ronnie warm up the beach a little longer. Who is your favorite couple of 2010? Tell us in the comments! Gwyneth Paltrow Says Husband Chris Martin Is A ‘Genius’ Actor

‘I don’t think he would ever do it, but he’s genius,’ she tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: MTV News We know that Gwyneth Paltrow has the singing chops to portray a down-on-her-luck Nashville star in “Country Strong.” But what MTV News didn’t know was whether her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has what it takes to venture into the world of acting. So we went straight to Paltrow and asked: Does Martin have acting skills as stellar as her singing talents? “Definitely,” Paltrow said of Martin’s acting potential. “I don’t think he would ever do it, but he’s genius. Did you ever see him in ‘Extras’?” Paltrow offered as proof. In his episode of the short-lived Ricky Gervais show, Martin guest-starred as an arrogant, exaggeratedly self-absorbed version of himself who tries to sneak a mention of a new Coldplay album into a public-service announcement about the need for clean drinking water. Well, if Martin won’t consider acting, might Paltrow consider doing a cover of a Coldplay song? “Me? God no,” Paltrow said. “No. We just can’t, like, merge. His career is there and mine is there.” Don’t count Paltrow out of the singing game yet, however. She did put some thought into what type of music she’d sing on an album of her own . “I think if I was going to make a country record, it would be, like, a super-bare, kind of stripped-back kind of country,” Paltrow explained. “Like a little bit of bluegrass-influenced kind of thing.” But Paltrow said she wouldn’t necessarily limit herself to one genre, saying she really loved singing Cee Lo’s “Forget You” on “Glee.” “I also love singing ’40s standards and stuff like that,” she added. Go for it, Gwyneth! And get your hubby to do some more acting while you’re at it. What would you prefer: a Gwyneth Paltrow album or Chris Martin acting? Tell us in the comments! Justin Bieber’s ‘Karate Kid’ Song Is Eligible For An Oscar

‘Never Say Never’ joins tunes by Gwyneth Paltrow, Christina Aguilera in the running for Original Song category. By James Montgomery Justin Bieber Photo: Robyn Beck/ AFP/ Getty Images Earlier this year, Justin Bieber set tweenage hearts aflutter when he teamed with Jaden Smith to record “Never Say Never,” the theme to Smith’s “Karate Kid” reboot. And now, he’s hoping to do the same for Oscar voters. Earlier this week, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — the governing body of the Academy Awards — released its list of the 41 songs eligible for the Original Song category at the 83rd annual awards, and Bieber made the cut. “Never Say Never” is in the running against the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Coming Home” and “Me and Tennessee” (both from her upcoming “Country Strong” film) and a trio of songs from Christina Aguilera’s “Burlesque.” Though Bieber made the eligibility list, the tune’s nomination is no surefire bet: Movie clips featuring each song will be screened for voting members of the Academy’s Music Branch on January 6, and it will be up to them to select the field of nominees. Nominations will be announced on January 25 at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. According to the Academy, in order for a work to be deemed eligible for the Original Song category, it must “consist of words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for the film,” and “a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition of both lyric and melody must be used in the body of the film, or as the first music cue in the end credits.” Bieber and Smith’s song is played over the end credits of “The Karate Kid.” The 83rd Academy Awards will be broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, February 27. Leighton Meester Planning To Leave ‘Gossip Girl’

The actress tells E! News that she’ll spend ‘two more years’ on the CW show. By Jocelyn Vena Leighton Meester Photo: David Livingston/ Getty Images It seems that Leighton Meester won’t be gossiping on the small screen for too much longer. The actress recently dished to E! News that she would be bidding her role as Blair Waldorf a fond farewell and leaving “Gossip Girl” behind after “two more years.” The singer/actress had a really good reason why she has such a specific time frame for when she’s plans to exit the CW show. “Because we’re under contract,” she explained. The actress, who appears in the upcoming Gwyneth Paltrow flick “Country Strong,” added that while she’s ready to leave the series behind, she “obviously enjoys working on the show and living in New York.” She maintained that producers are supportive of her decision, as well as the choice of her other castmates to pursue outside interests. “It allows you to be ready for when the show’s over,” Meester said, adding, “I don’t know [if the series will end when I leave,] but I think there’s that old saying about wanting to go out on top.” Fellow “Gossip Girl” starlet Taylor Momsen recently was put on indefinite hiatus from the program. The actress, like Meester, has been busy pursuing a music career — with her band the Pretty Reckless — and also is the face of Madonna’s Material Girl clothing company and John Galliano’s latest perfume campaign. Meester has a long-simmering solo album in the works, and has several films under her belt, including “Monte Carlo” with Selena Gomez and Corey Monteith and “The Roommate” co-starring lookalike actress Minka Kelly. While her move from the small screen to the big screen is already under way, that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t consider returning to TV. “Um, I never say never,” Meester said. “It would have to be the right show just like it would have [to be] the right movie.” What do you think about Meester’s plans to leave “Gossip Girl”? Tell us in the comments.
