Rick Ross Talks About ‘Secrets’ Shared With Kanye West

Pair collaborated on ‘club banger’ called ‘Live Fast, Die Young’ for Ross’ Teflon Don LP. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: Akshay Bhansali The respect level between Def Jam labelmates Rick Ross and Kanye West is so (super) high, that the two just don’t collaborate on songs, they share in-studio recording secrets, musician to musician. Ross went to Hawaii earlier this year to work with West on his Teflon Don LP, due July 6. “It was my first time there,” Ross said about his trip to West’ island sanctuary. “Just to see how beautiful it was — how serene it was. Just to walk into this orbit — I like to call it — which Kanye creates his music in. We both were having breakfast one morning and we were talking, we both were telling each other just recording secrets, things that artists don’t usually share with each other.” The Bawse said Kanye dropped a gem on him that was remarkable and unexpected. “One of the most incredible things he said — or really that I’ve heard in my whole career — he told me and showed me how to hear sounds in colors,” Ross said. “I was mesmerized, but I don’t wanna go too deep into it. We came up with a record called ‘Live Fast and Die Young,’ I can’t wait for it to hit the streets. You’re going to hear it real soon.” Despite the serious title, Ross said the tune will bring people out to the dance floor. “Most definitely!,” the Miami MC promised. “It’s gonna be most definitely a club banger, but it has that edge to it. That’s how ‘Ye loves to make music, he loves to take it to the edge. That’s where we went with it. It makes you feel like if you had that one record the rest of your life to play, that’s it right here. It’s really gonna make you feel good. We both talk about seeing the pitfalls in our rearview [mirror]. It’s a feel-good record.” “Live Fast and Die Young” is under serious consideration to be Teflon Don ‘s second official single, following up the Ne-Yo assisted “Super High.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Rick Ross Related Artists Rick Ross (Hip-Hop) Kanye West

Is USA’s Covert Affairs Just Bourne Identity Meets Coyote Ugly?

Over the past week, Movieline has reviewed all kinds of network series featuring a range of cops and crime-fighters. There have been funny, overweight cops looking for love ; handsome police officers patrolling Hawaii , three generations of squabbling Irish badges , Detroit detectives and Chicago heat . But nowhere in these line-ups was there room for a gorgeous CIA trainee who shame-eats pints of cookie dough ice cream when she’s not taking down deadly assassins. Fortunately, USA Network has that subgenre covered.

‘Lost’ Finale Is Bound To Disappoint ‘Some Fans,’ Jorge Garcia Says

‘We’re basically just crossing our fingers that the majority will be satisfied,’ he tells MTV News. By Josh Wigler Jorge Garcia Photo: Dario Cantatore/ Getty Images For six years, “Lost” viewers have watched unlucky millionaire Hugo “Hurley” Reyes transform from lovable-but-terrified plane-crash survivor to an unlikely leader of men. The progression of Hurley’s character wasn’t just a pleasant surprise for the show’s fans; it was also a treat for Jorge Garcia, the 37-year-old actor who’s been a mainstay on the soon-to-conclude series since the very first episode. “It’s been cool,” Garcia told MTV News when asked to describe his character’s arc from the pilot episode to “The End,” the title of the final “Lost” episode, which airs Sunday. “The more subtle ways he ends up finding moments to show leadership qualities or save the day by hitting someone with a van, it worked out kind of well. It’s kind of like you don’t know when you’re starting out, but you kind of see it. If you just go through a plane crash, you might need to get your bearings a little bit. Then you start figuring it out, stretching your legs and seeing what’s what. He was always big on the advancement of the group more than anything. He didn’t want to stick out or do anything weird. He’s kind of like the cheerleader, in a way.” With the series finale looming, Garcia still hasn’t fully realized that his days on “Lost” are over. “It hasn’t really hit me yet,” he admitted. “There have been little things where it’s like, ‘Hey, that’s kind of sad.’ Reading the last script had a little thing to it. Doing this event in Los Angeles where [‘Lost’ composer Michael Giacchino] was conducting the orchestra had a little bit to it. But I haven’t really felt it. Either that or I’m being very stoic about it. I thought it was going to be a huger thing for me. Maybe when I finally get on that plane and I’m officially moved from Hawaii, it’ll hit me.” Garcia’s final day of shooting wasn’t terribly emotional, mostly because it was such a physically grueling experience. “That particular day was a very long day, and it was just exhausting in the end,” he said. “It was kind of like a lot of work. It was a physically demanding scene. At the end of it, I was like, ‘Whew, I am ready for bed, but I’ll stick around and watch them shoot the last shot of the whole series. OK, now I’m going to bed.’ ” With only two days remaining before the finale airs, Garcia said he still doesn’t know exactly how the show is going to end. “There’s one thing I still don’t know in the finale,” he said. “It’s one small piece in the finale that was only given to the actors in that scene, and I was not one of those actors.” But based on what he does know, Garcia said he and the entire “Lost” team are aware that some fans will walk away feeling disappointed. “With a show like this and fans like this, we know — and we already got a taste of it with the ‘Across the Sea’ episode — we know there are going to be some fans who are like, ‘What the eff?’ We’re basically just crossing our fingers that the majority will be satisfied with how the story goes and will be vocal about it so that we hear both sides!” If nothing else, Garcia can identify one person who’s happy with how “Lost” ends. “It was very satisfying,” he said of his experience. ‘Lost’ Star Jorge Garcia Pens Farewell To The Island

‘I still don’t think the end of it all has hit me yet,’ actor writes in Variety. By Eric Ditzian Jorge Garcia Photo: Dario Cantatore/ Getty Images Sure, “Lost” has got take-charge Jack, beautiful Kate, smoldering Sawyer, badass Sayid and many more colorful characters that have spent time living (and often dying) on that mysterious island. Yet it’d be hard to argue that anyone but jolly Hugo “Hurley” Reyes is the show’s fan favorite. He’s a truth-teller, a voice of the fan at home, an honest do-gooder, a guy you just can’t helping rooting for. So too has Jorge Garcia, who plays the teddy bear-like Hurley, become beloved amongst the zealous “Lost” fanbase. As the show hurtles toward its series finale on Sunday, Garcia penned an essay for Variety in which he reminisces about the casting process six seasons ago, shares memories of his time shooting in Hawaii and talks about filming the final episode. Here’s an excerpt: “At 5 a.m. on April 24, I became unemployed,” Garcia begins. “I just wrapped my six-season run on ‘Lost.’ The job that went above and beyond anything I could have imagined was over. … “My last day on ‘Lost’ was also my longest: 20 hours. Without going into details, I can say the shoot was dangerous, physical and wet. But what could be more appropriate? How else could we end this epic show without an epic marathon night of shooting? At the end of it all we all remarked how we expected the end to be more emotional for us, but we were too tired to cry. “I’ll admit I got a little teary with Matthew Fox. I thanked him for everything he taught me, including taking me on his trip to Japan to see Green Day that first summer of shooting. At the time, flying at the last minute to a foreign country was way out of my comfort zone, but then again, nothing on ‘Lost’ was ever in my comfort zone. “I stuck around after even after I wrapped to see the martini shot of the entire show. I could feel director Jack Bender’s resistance to call “print” on that last take. In fact I’m pretty sure he asked for one more take to delay the inevitable. “I still don’t think the end of it all has hit me yet. Maybe I’ll feel it when the finale finally airs Sunday. Or maybe it will hit me when I board the plane at Honolulu Airport for the last time as a Hawaiian resident. “I have no clue what my next adventure is going to be, I just know this job is going to be a hard one to follow.” Which “Lost” character will you miss the most when the show ends?
