Prince William & Kate Middleton as Ken & Barbie: First Look!

Mattel’s collector’s edition Duke and Duchess of Cambridge versions of Barbie and Ken have been released, and are quite regal – and realistic for miniature dolls! Case in point: Barbie Kate Middleton isn’t as voluptuous as the blonde original, while William/Ken isn’t nearly as much of a fake-tanned metrosexual douche. The toy company is releasing the special Prince William and Kate Middleton figurines in time to mark the real-life royal couple’s one-year anniversary April 29. Here they are, outfitted in their royal wedding attire: William’s red military jacket with a blue sash is a surprisingly accurate replica, as are Kate’s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown, tiara and engagement ring. Kate Middleton has been a doll before, if you remember – last year, the Franklin Mint made an engagement edition – and in a different sense, she’s a doll every day. Sadly for those stateside, when the royal Barbie-and-Ken dolls go on sale for $155 from Amazon.com U.K. come April 7, they will not be offered in North America. Shoppers throughout Europe, on the other hand, can buy all they want and charge absurd sums on eBay. International online commerce at its finest, people.

Evanescence’s ‘My Heart Is Broken’ Video: The Haunting

Brand-new clip finds the band trapped within a nightmare of its own invention. By James Montgomery Evanescence’s Amy Lee on the set of their “My Heart Is Broken” video Photo: Matt Elias/MTV News After nearly a month spent touting its various ethereal qualities , on Tuesday (January 24), Evanescence premiered their video for “My Heart Is Broken,” a dark, dreamlike thing that pushes Amy Lee’s claustrophobic musings to the next level. And somewhere beyond that too. As Lee told MTV News back in December, the look and feel of the “Broken” clip was very much influenced by the British fantasy/horror flick “Paperhouse,” about a young girl who creates vivid dream worlds to escape the harsh reality of everyday life, only to eventually realize she’s stuck in those dreams — inspiration that certainly resonates with the song’s lyrics, which are very much about being trapped in a dark, desolate place and trying to free one’s self despite mounting evidence to the contrary. Working with director Dean Karr, and aided very much by fiber-optic technology, Evanescence have created a video that is both haunting and haunted. It opens with Lee suspended in an inky void, a single light projecting from her finger. While her bandmates bash away in the blackness, she slowly begins to fill her emptiness by creating a dream world — a fallow field, a sea of stars, a crumbling room — until she eventually realizes that, in spite of her attempts, she is just as trapped as she was before. At clip’s end, the viewer is left to wonder whether she has the power to escape (though a cracked mirror seems to indicate she can), which, in a way, only further connects the video to the song itself: Like Lee sings, each of us have within ourselves the ability to free ourselves from any situation; whether we do or not is largely our decision. The first step seems to be realizing that the walls we surround ourselves with are largely of our own creation. The rest is up to us. What do you think of the “My Heart Is Broken” video? Ho Sit Down: Kimmy Cakes Tells Kelly Ripa “I Didn’t Think Following My Heart Would Create This Much Backlash”

SMH! Kimmy Cakes know she need to sit down on that thang talking all that yang. Kim Kardashian made her return to television screens today, co-hosting “Live! with Kelly.” During the show, Kardashian talked extensively about her decision to marry Nets star Kris Humphries after knowing each other for just eight months and also claimed that if getting married had been a business decision “I would have stayed married longer.” Seated next to Kelly Ripa, both women in red dresses, Kardashian expressed shock about the negative press she’s garnered since filing for divorce from Humphries after just 72 days of marriage. She stressed that she walked down the aisle with genuine intentions. “I really didn’t think that following my heart would create this much backlash,” Kardashian said. “Me being such a hopeless romantic, I wanted to believe in something so badly … Khloe and Lamar got married after knowing each other for a month and they’re going on three years. My mom and Bruce after five months got married and they just celebrated their 20th anniversary. I fell in love and thought it could work just like the examples that I saw.” Kardashian also addressed allegations that she got married for money or to build her brand. “If you really think about it, if this was a business decision and I really made all that money that everyone was claiming that we made off this wedding, and if the wedding was fake and just for TV,” she said, trailing off. “I’m a smart business woman — I would have stayed married longer. This was a bad business decision.” When Ripa brought up Heidi Klum and Seal’s announcement today that they were splitting, Kardashian stayed away from commenting. “I would never wish anyone to go through a divorce. But after what I’ve been through, I see that you don’t really know until you’re in that person’s shoes,” she said. “People don’t really see my heart and I just want them to understand why I do what I do. So when I see other people that I might understand their situation, I say, ‘You’ve really got to step back because you don’t know what they’re going through.’” Ripa also took the opportunity to apologize to Kardashian for her Halloween costume. Ripa and singer Nick Lachey had dressed as Kardashian and Humphries at their wedding — Lachey walking on stilts. Soon after, news leaked out that Kardashian had filed for divorce. “Imagine our shock when literally an hour later this announcement was made,” explained Ripa. Kardashian responded, “That was probably the one thing that made me smile that day.” Wow, so now divorcing someone counts as following your heart too? Maybe it’s just time to take a seat for a lil while — ain’t what all that cushion is for anyway??? Source FameFlynetPictures More On Bossip! Sundance Diary: Seeking (and Finding) Karaoke in the Snow

I ran into Salt Lake Tribune critic Sean Means tonight at Sundance in a packed RV decked out with a mini tiki bar, neon lights, and a booming sound system — also known as the RVIP Lounge and Karaoke Cabaret , a tricked-out mobile karaoke mecca and the jammingest place you’ll find in Park City all week. Since the word’s out ( read his account of the karaoke madness ), here are my two cents: You can have your Drizzy Drake concerts and Bing Bar bashes, but for my money there’s no better way to thaw out from the snow and mingle with Sundance strangers than while belting a karaoke jam or two. The thing about socializing at Sundance is that it can be incredibly frustrating and annoying if you do it the old-fashioned way. Park City imports non-film folks every year who show up to ski by day and get past velvet ropes at night, turning Main Street into douche-infested waters at sundown. Bars are overcrowded and parties all look the same after a while, so thank goodness for alternatives… like recreational vehicles outfitted with karaoke rigs and loud microphones. The RVIP Lounge hails from Los Angeles, courtesy of master KJ/party hosts Kestrin Pantera (pictured above), Jonathan Grubb, and Eva Kim where it zooms from place to place picking up eager singers. When the RVIP folks announced they were Park City bound this year, my heart leapt; no film festival, at least stateside in my experience, is complete without some sort of karaoke. (And while I haven’t quite figured out why movie people love karaoke so much, it’s an inarguable constant in this world, the social lubricant that unites many folks in the film community at large.) Friday night the Tim & Eric crowd sang as the intrepid RVIP navigated the icy mountain roads of Park City, but Saturday the mobile karaoke lounge held court near Sundance HQ. Look for them there Sunday as well – they’ll be the ones in the RV illuminating the night sky with bright colored lights. (Make sure to check their whereabouts on Twitter , this week in Park City and back in L.A.) Inside the RVIP you’ll find a cross-section of Sundance-goers – industry folk, journalists, filmmakers. The songbook is decent, the company even better, and when the place gets packed it takes on a life of its own. “How did I get to this magical place? What the hell is happening right now?” you may wonder as the entire RV erupts in song and someone plays air guitar on a light saber as you sing ditties like 2Pac’s “California Love” or Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” It’s all part of the wonder that is the RVIP, which may have single-handedly saved the 2012 Sundance party scene. [Bonus: This week in addition to the RVIP, at least one other karaoke event is on the docket for the remainder of Sundance 2012 as CAVU Pictures hosts a karaoke throwdown Monday, January 23 for film and industry folks.] Got a hot tip on Sundance 2012 karaoke?
