‘Hills’ Star Lo Bosworth Says Surreal Finale Was Just ‘Poking Fun’

‘In truth (and this really is the truth), the relationships with those on the show are real,’ she writes on her website. By Jocelyn Vena Lo Bosworth Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images “The Hills” finale left everyone a little speechless Tuesday night when, during the final scene, the producers revealed that Kristin and Brody’s goodbye scene was shot on a backlot in Hollywood. It was, as Lo Bosworth previously said, a “spectacular” ending to a show that had fans wondering week after week if the drama on the show was real.

Eminem Tops Billboard For Third Week

Drake holds steady at #2, while Big Boi’s solo debut comes in at #3. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images Now that Eminem is back on top of the charts, it looks like Slim Shady isn’t planning on budging anytime soon. For the third week in a row, Em’s Recovery will hold on to the pole position this week, moving another 229,000 copies to push the disc close to the 1.3 million mark, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. Also not budging is Drake , whose Thank Me Later holds steady in the #2 spot thanks to 74,000 more units served for a one-month total of more than 782,000. Coming in at the #3 position is the long-delayed official solo debut of Outkast’s Big Boi , Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which sold 62,000 copies. At #10 is the latest from Enrique Iglesias, Euphoria, which had a soft landing of 27,000. The rest of the top 10: Muse may be suddenly ambivalent about their placement in the vampire movies, but “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” soundtrack holds in there at #4 with sales of 45,000 for a five-week total just shy of 350,000. Justin Bieber is also mostly steady at #5 with My World 2.0 (43,000), followed by Now 34 (#6, 33,000), Jack Johnson ‘s To the Sea (#7, 30,000), Lady Gaga ‘s The Fame (#8, 29,000) and Lady Antebellum ‘s Need You Now (#9, 28,000). Though duet partner Miley Cyrus continues to move in the opposite direction with her more mature Can’t Be Tamed, dropping two spots to #11 on sales of 24,000, rejuvenated Poison rocker Bret Michaels has a decent showing at #14 with Custom Built, which debuts with 22,000. Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue is still trying to crack the code in America, as her Aphrodite sneaks into the top 20 at #19 on sales of 18,000. Meanwhile, jokey Colorado rap duo 3OH!3 shed 63 percent of their first-week business for Streets of Gold, dropping 16 spots to #23 (15,000). Incubus singer Brandon Boyd ‘s solo debut, The Wild Trapeze, swings in at #3 (11,000), Kelis ‘ hyped Flesh Tone album barely makes it into the top 50 at #48 (8,000) and Juvenile has to settle for a #58 debut for his Beast Mode (6,000). It continues to be all about Eminem on the iTunes charts as well. He holds on to the #1 position on the albums and singles tallies, as the Rihanna duet “Love the Way You Lie” climbs back into the single lead over Katy Perry ‘s Snoop Dogg-assisted “California Gurls.” The rest of the singles top 10 is mostly a reshuffling of the deck, with Iglesias coming in at #4 with “I Like It,” just behind Taio Cruz ‘s “Dynamite.” The rest of the singles list includes B.o.B (“Airplanes”), Travie McCoy (“Billionaire”), Mike Posner (“Cooler Than Me”), Jason Derulo (“Ridin’ Solo”), Eminem (“Not Afraid”) and Usher (“OMG”). (iTunes does not release sales figures for its charts.) Things get shaken up a bit more on the iTunes album chart, where Boi snags the #2 spot, followed by the “Eclipse” soundtrack, Drake, Boyd, Johnson, Minogue, Lady Gaga, Iglesias and a Daughtry compilation called Leave This Town: The B-Sides. Eminem’s probably safe for another week on the Billboard countdown, as the only competition in the rearview mirror will come from Korn , M.I.A. , a solo Sting , metal supergroup Hellyeah and the revamped Crowded House . Brody Jenner Reveals Alternate ‘Hills’ Ending With Lauren Conrad

‘It was another fun, cool ending,’ he says of onscreen reunion that was shot but didn’t make the final cut. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash Brody Jenner at the “Hills” series finale after-party on Tuesday Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage “The Hills” may have bid a fond farewell on Tuesday night, leaving fans pondering the show’s somewhat mysterious and unusual ending , but Brody Jenner, whose final scene with Kristin Cavallari ended the show’s successful six-year run, admits there was another scene with another ex-lady that was shot but didn’t make the final cut. He revealed to MTV News backstage at the aftershow party that it included some face time with Lauren Conrad, who did make an appearance on the aftershow . “We filmed a couple different endings and we didn’t know which one they were gonna use. There were some other ones that were great as well,” Brody teased about the LC ending. “One of the other endings, Lauren was in it. She had come back into the show for the last episode. I come back home, and basically Lauren’s at my place [and I tell her about saying goodbye to a friend]. We film this whole lovey-dovey scene as if me and Lauren had been together this entire time. So it was another fun, cool ending. “That day of filming it was surreal to me because they wouldn’t tell me what we were filming,” he continued. “I think the show has always battled with what’s real and what’s fake, and this ending was perfect because you still don’t know what was real, what was fake and it’s kind of like L.A. in a sense. I thought it was very clever and I was happy with it. I was stoked they were ending it with me. I was flattered.” So is it real? Well, yes and no, for that matter. “I would say it’s entertainment and just enjoy it; don’t question it too much. There were a lot of moments that were real and a lot of moments that were not so real.” Were you pleased with the ending? Would you have liked to have seen Lauren? Tell us in the comments! ‘The Hills’ Will Go ‘Out With A Bang,’ Audrina Promises

‘I wanted to come on and get people talking,’ her co-star Kristin tells MTV News before series finale airs Tuesday night. By Jocelyn Vena Audrina Patridge Photo: MTV So much drama has unfolded over six seasons of “The Hills.” In the last season alone, viewers saw Heidi Montag reveal her drastic plastic surgery makeover, Spencer Pratt begin to unravel and watched in surprise as Kristin Cavallari put herself out there, only to be rejected by ex-boyfriend Brody Jenner. But “Hills” castmate Audrina Patridge says fans should only expect more drama when the series’ farewell episode airs Tuesday night (July 13). “It’s our last season, so we’re going out with a bang,” Audrina told MTV News. And while friendship has been the focus of the reality-TV series, which premiered in May 2006, Kristin and Audrina admit that it’s the over-the-top mischief they’ve loved most about the show. And if anyone knows about trouble, it’s Cavallari, who first turned up halfway through season five, but has since made the sixth and final season all her own. “I was really nervous coming onto ‘The Hills,’ ” Kristin confessed. “I was the new girl. Going to Heidi and Spencer’s wedding, no one knew I was coming. But it ended up being pretty easy.” Cavallari also acknowledged that her now-infamous fight with Audrina at a “welcome back” party for Speidi may have sealed her fate as a “Hills” legend. “That was the whole point. I wanted to come on and get people talking,” Kristin said. “I knew that it was gonna stir things up. … I had no idea certain things, like that fight, would have such an impact.” As for one of her more memorable lines from that nasty fight — “I’m sorry I walked up here and you guys came at me like piranhas” — the “Hills” star says it was TV gold. “That was pretty good. It came out of nowhere,” she laughed. “I was proud of that one.” Audrina, on the other hand, couldn’t nail down one specific moment she’d remember most. There were simply too many to choose from over six seasons, she told us back in April. “There’s so many favorite moments,” Patridge said. “It’s funny because watching the show with the music, it makes it so emotional. So there’s been a lot of moments, fun moments, like going on vacation and just having fun with each other. There’s been so many dramatic moments and fights and tears and ups-and-downs of friendships and relationships, so really watching those — I mean, at the finale, we are probably all going to start crying. It is going to be a sad, sad moment.” What are your favorites “Hills” moments? Tell us in the comments! ‘The Hills’ Girls Made ‘California Cool’ Fashionable Everywhere, Experts Say

Magazine editors weigh in on the West Coast style that Lauren Conrad and friends popularized. By Kara Warner, with additional reporting by Jocelyn Vena Lauren Conrad Photo: Getty Images The ladies of a href=”http://www.mtv.com/shows/the_hills/season_6/series.jhtml”> “The Hills” have left their mark on pop culture. Not only were they ratings darlings, but these impeccably groomed princesses of SoCal inspired women to tune in and take notes on how to create their own California fairy tale. From their stylish jobs to their frequent shopping trips and club outings, LC, Kristin and their friends have been influencing viewers’ fashion for the past six seasons. “[The show] hyped a certain kind of California cool style that the rest of the world hadn’t seen,” Nylon digital director Faran Krentcil told MTV News. “One that combined cheap cotton dresses with Chanel bags, and stacked friendship bracelets alongside Tiffany jewelry. These were young women mixing their own favorite things with what fashion magazines (and the East Coast style establishment) told them was cool, and they had the same kind of influence that Nicole Richie’s boho-luxe style had.” Seventeen magazine’s entertainment director Carissa Rosenberg Tozzi emphasized the impact Lauren Conrad has had on women. “Every girl, no matter what age, anyone from 12-35 was practically emulating her style,” Tozzi told MTV News. “It landed her on the covers of magazines. Girls wanted to look like her, be her, dress like her. She was such an influence during the time she was on ‘The Hills.’ You couldn’t deny that she was a huge influence on pop culture. Everybody was talking about her style. She was the girl next door — that perfect combination people always say, girls want to be friends with her, guys want to date her. She just had it all.” “It popularized the mix-and-match movement that makes it OK to throw a Juicy Couture T-shirt underneath a Miu Miu blazer,” added Krentcil. “And though girls in New York City were doing this too, Lauren Conrad and her comrades were doing it with tons of color! Before ‘The Hills,’ it was kind of assumed that you should wear black with pops of color if you wanted to look sexy or cool. They gave more options — in colors that used to be for tropical drinks only, not dresses and shoes. And they made it ‘acceptable’ to buy a $300 T-shirt.” Fashion designer Richie Rich acknowledged the show’s impact on youth culture, but not so much on the fashion industry as a whole. “I think ‘The Hills’ was a fun impact fashion-wise on the youth of our culture,” Rich told MTV News. “I don’t really think it made a huge statement fashion-wise, other then rich girls shopping. I think it also proved that celebs just putting their names on products doesn’t always mean it’s fashion. I think the catfights were the highlight for sure!” Star magazine fashion and beauty director Tara Kraft said she is confident the ladies will continue to be major style and beauty influencers beyond the show’s run, particularly since several of them are now deeply involved in the industry. “Lauren Conrad not only designed her own line for Kohl’s, but was the face of Mark., Avon’s sister brand. She repped their beauty line and also collaborated on a line of accessories with the company,” Kraft pointed out. “Whitney Port is also a fashion designer. Her line Whitney Eve has become quite popular. Audrina Patridge was just tapped as a new face for the line Bongo; Kristin Cavallari was a model for the fashion line Op.” Tozzi equates the impact of “The Hills” to that of “Sex and the City.” “Their style really set trends,” she explained. “The difference between what they did and what ‘Sex and the City’ did: Nothing that [the ‘Hills’ girls] wore was so over the top; everything they wore was accessible. You never felt that the choices, the kind of clothes they wore would make you feel weird wearing them. You weren’t making some crazy statement; you were just sort of looking good. It was all about looking pretty and put together. ” So who is next in line to inherit the fashion-forward throne from the cast of “The Hills”? “I don’t know, I’m curious to see what is next,” Tozzi said. “There always will be a next.” What show will influence your style now that “The Hills” is ending? Talk about it in the comments. Spencer Pratt to Crash The Hills Finale?

Spencer Pratt has been very … well, non-Spencer Pratt lately. Uncharacteristically absent from the spotlight, he hasn’t been seen in public in over a month, or on The Hills , where he and Heidi Montag were cut loose without any explanation from the show, which ends its six-season run tonight. Might he be planning a surprise – and unwelcome – public foray this evening? Implying he may crash The Hills finale party, he Tweeted on Tuesday: “Booking my room @Roosevelt Hotel Hollywood now that I have no place to live I think i should just move in there today (to) stay near the action.” No place to live? We know he looks like a homeless man, but is Spencer Pratt really out on the street? At least he’s comfortable as a mountain man … If Spencer Pratt crashes The Hills’ live post-finale bash, we hope he bursts on stage dressed like this. Fingers crossed. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] Wouldn’t you know it, the Hollywood Roosevelt is the site of tonight’s finale party, for which Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are not on the guest list. Kristin Cavallari, Brody Jenner and other stars will be on hand, along with the show’s two most famous alumnae, Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port. No Speidi, though, after clashes with Hills creator Adam DiVello on and off set led to an unceremonious, unexplained parting of ways with the show. Heidi’s also moving forward with plans to divorce him , supposedly. Cavallari calls the situation “sad,” and says as far as she knows, no one has spoken to either member of the duo since they last filmed together. “I’ve reached out to Heidi,” says Kristin, who fixed up Speidi. “I can’t get a hold of her because she changed her number. I’d love to talk to her.”

‘The Hills’ Rolling Stone Cover: How Did It Come Together?

Show creator Adam DiVello explains how they got Heidi and Lauren in the same room, in a ‘Hills: Revealed’ outtake. By Jocelyn Vena Lauren Conrad Photo: MTV Back in May 2008, Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag had already had a major falling-out and were no longer on speaking terms. So when Rolling Stone called and wanted to put all the stars of “The Hills” on the cover of the magazine, the show’s producers knew it would take some work to get the onetime pals in the same room again to join Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge for the scantily clad photo shoot. “You know, MTV press called us up and they said that Rolling Stone is interested in doing a cover for ‘The Hills.’ So, of course, you know, it’s the best call you can get,” show creator Adam DiVello recalled in an outtake from “The Hills: Revealed.” “I mean, for me anyway, every cover to me is iconic. I love the magazine, and the thought of a show that I created getting on the cover of Rolling Stone to me was an end all, be all.” The cover came with one big caveat: “All four girls, bottom line, no ifs, ands or buts,” DiVello recalled. “When you’ve got Rolling Stone calling [and] they want your cast on the cover of the magazine, but two of your castmembers don’t want to be together in the same room — namely Lauren and Heidi — it seemed like it was never going to happen. I mean, there was a time when we thought, ‘This is not going to happen,’ because we were not going to get them together.” But it seemed like the magazine-cover gods were shining on them, and the shoot came together. “You get to the bottom of it and figure out how to make it happen,” DiVello said. “And luckily, we pulled it off.” Are you excited for “The Hills” season finale on Tuesday?
